Jan 2018 Update!
Long time since the last time, but this is only a reflection on how hard at work and heads down it has been getting the final game levels complete.
A few screenshots have filtered out showing some interior space shift and space shots. Lots of interesting NPC's and dialog to be recorded, but can't give too much away as this is the climax of the story!!
Oh and Sebastian got another facelift :-)
Hope you are anticipating this as much as we are! This is fast becoming something quite special!!
Onwards and upwards to a 2018 release!
May 2017 Update!
Lots of updates to the game in May. [Over 140 acres of new locations and terrain has been added. These can now be explored and traversed by foot, train, car or bicycle. Some of it even by forklift!
Several new NPC's have been added along with lengthy audio dialog to extend the immersive plot.
A new inventory system and objectives menu has been added to simplify controls and to provide some guidance to players who want to be a little more led and directed through the game.
A complete pulse radar mapping system is also included, although you have to find the right gear to enable it!
All this and more are explained in more detail in our latest newsletter which you can find on our website here: http://www.discrepantgame.com/discrepant_newsletter.html
You can also sign up for future newsletters, or get involved in play testing and even offer to help with some overflow dev work if you are keen.
EMPUS VOLAT HORA FUGIT!
Massive update scheduled!
Hi all,
Work has not stopped, and in fact more content is being added with a additional levels being added to Chapter 1 to improve game play and story line. Chapter 1 is likely to take 40% longer to complete as a result! A subway system, a complete urban city area, another complete neighborhood to explore, an extensive mutli-floor office building have been added. You can now catch the subway to move between places, and even drive a fully featured car to get around and explore whilst unraveling the plot.
A lot of new dialog has been added between Sebastian, Sue and the Manager, as well as additional side characters.
I think we're having a bit of a creative splurge and unable to reign ourselves in ;-) just yet. Don't worry, still working toward a 2017 release, so it is coming.... promise!
Any interest in beta testings, please apply on our website, at http://www.discrepantgame.com/beta_access.html
All the best!

Discrepant to release in 2017 !!
So.... we're almost at 2017.. hours to go. This is a welcome reminder that we will have Discrepant released in the next quarter!!
Chapter 1 is now in Beta, and Chapter 2 is well underway, and will have lots of AI and NPC's which will be a change from Chapter 1 which is pretty much solo except for a few short encounters.
The detailed design of the game through Chapter 2 to 5 is now mostly complete. The story is solid and compelling,. and at least 1 person who critiqued it came back later saying the couldn't sleep that night thinking about it ! So that's a good sign.
It's quite involved, and will require skill to tell properly. So all hands to the wheel in 2017. :-D
v0.54 will be out shortly which returns the game back to the plot, so if you haven't yet played with the demo level, please have a go and give us feedback on the forum!

Many thanks, and happy new year to all!
v0.47 released!
Hi, we are c;lose to getting to the end of Alpha and into Beta. Thanks for all the people who have helped so far!
This version brings a serious boss challenge. The Glitch on the streets is pretty vicious now so will test you ability to figure out alternate paths :-)
Good luck and it's not too late to apply for Alpha testing on our website: http://www.discrepantgame.com
v0.43 released
A number of small bug fixes have been applied. The download is quite small, so the update should be quick!

v0.4 Released !
Hi all,
A big update released today. It's taken over a month to get the load and save game system working to our satisfaction. Initially we planned to allow saving and loading at any time, then decided only to allow checkpoints between levels, and we have kinda settled in the middle allowing load and save at any time, but also auto-check pointing at certain key points.
The're one catch, otherwise things may get just too damn easy, is to only allow ONE SAVE GAME. Yup, you heard it right! It's basically a discretionary checkpoint - a mid way compromise.
Now why would we do this? Discrepant is not your traditional FPS or Open World game where instant save/load is desirable. A lot of the game is based on improving your approach and strategy each time you .. and it has a time limit (at least in certain parts of the game). Game play testing has shown that death can be swift and sudden, and its pretty tough to go back to the start. So check pointing seemed a good idea.
For now, we're allowing discretionary checkpoints (i.e. just as you are about to do something risky, you can at least go back to where you were). But we're not keen to allow the player to build up a lot of alternative threads, as the game might get too easy. So - you have one! Pick your moments carefully.
We'll possibly revise this with feedback, but it seems to work for now.
One last point... and it is not clear from the screenshots and game play videos, is that yes.. you DO HAVE WEAPONS... they are not gratuitous, rather purposeful and important to the plot - and ammo is tough to come by. Also, we have drive-able vehicles of all sorts, several other characters to interact with, and a good measure of NPC enemies - not all human.
We are still looking for beta testers. Apply on our website: http://www.discrepantgame.com
