Adventure Awaits in Disney Dreamlight Valley: A Rift in Time!
Welcome, Valley Villagers… to Eternity Isle!
Get dressed in your best explorer outfit, pick your most adventurous animal companion, and pack a few pumpkins for good measure. You have an incredible journey ahead of you when Disney Dreamlight Valley: A Rift in Time launches next week on December 5th!
A Well-Timed Invitation
While the Valley is no stranger to Night Thorns, villains, or peculiar potatoes, it looks like there’s a disturbance in town. This time, though, it’s in the form of Time Anomalies and… a hologram of Jafar?! You’ll start your new Quest in this expansion with an investigation in the Plaza, where you’ll receive an invitation to visit Eternity Isle. It looks like Jafar’s been cooking up his own brand of trouble while you’ve been dealing with the Forgetting. Though the Isle may seem far away, the Dream Castle has been hiding the secret to getting there all this time. Have a chat with Merlin to uncover a magical new area that will grant you access to this land that’s been lost to time.
Of course, arriving on the Isle is the easy part and some friendly faces will also brave the journey to help! Discover new recipes with Remy to keep you energized, build a Stall for Goofy so you can cultivate exotic new fruit, and even set up shop for Scrooge McDuck. What, you thought he wouldn’t find a way to capitalize on your adventure?
Even though Night Thorns haven’t taken over the Isle, you’ll contend with new, equally meddlesome phenomena. Time Rifts and Swirling Sands can be found on your Quest to discover every nook and cranny of this new land, but you’ll have some new tools to help.
Chart the Isle Across Three Unique Biomes!
Arriving on the shores of Eternity Isle, the first new Biome you will explore is Ancient's Landing. Once a port town that used to host an ancient civilization, you’ll find it in ruins—likely due to experiments on the manipulation of time. Breathe new life into it by rebuilding a marketplace or by moving your Villager’s homes over!
The next two Biomes to explore used to be one, but are now split in half by a time dilation caused by Jafar’s experiments. Will you choose to travel to the desert sands of the Glittering Dunes, or beat the heat in the lush and verdant Wild Tangle? Expect to find new challenges and secret areas in each Biome—as well as plenty of space to transform them into a new home for you and your Villagers!
Each Biome comes with its own unique flora and fauna. This means new decorative plants and rocks await the avid decorator, and new vegetables and fruits await the Valley foodies. Each Biome also features a new animal critter, with different color variants, that would love to join you as your next animal companion!
Expand Your Set of Royal Tools
Previewed in our Showcase, your magical toolbox is getting an upgrade! Disney Dreamlight Valley: A Rift in Time introduces the Royal Hourglass—a Tool of equally incredible beauty and function. You’ll find this relic of times past on Eternity Isle, and once equipped, it will empower you with a new form of magic that’s bound to help you overcome obstacles, hunt for treasure, and even craft new objects!
Speaking of crafting, you’ll also find a new way to create items on the Isle: the Time Bending Station! Combining the magic of your Royal Hourglass with this station will allow you to create Quest items, Ancient Machines, and other exciting objects to help you on your journey, and of course, decorate your Valley. You’ll also be able to upgrade your Royal Hourglass here, so don’t forget to visit from time to time!
But wait—what’s an Ancient Machine, you say? Using technology from the Isle’s mysterious past, you’ll be able to increase your efficiency around the Valley. These Machines will not only help you cook faster but also automate gardening and other tasks so that you can maximize the "pumpkin to pumpkin puff" pipeline.
A New Adventure Means New Friends
In addition to the familiar faces you’ll encounter on your travels through the Isle, this expansion introduces a cast of new Villagers to befriend and discover new stories with:
- EVE joins you as the ever-watchful guardian of the Royal Hourglass. You’ll need to gain her trust before she grants you access to it—and it’s going to take more than a plant in a boot to win her over. Of course, with every Villager in the Valley, you’ll unlock their own unique and exciting Friendship Quest storylines, and EVE’s begins with a grand reunion with WALL·E.
- While exploring Eternity Isle, you’ll also discover Rapunzel and a very thirsty Gaston. Help one rediscover their love for painting, and treat the other to a non-egg-based meal. Doing so will gain you another two new companions for the journey ahead (we’ll leave it up to you to figure out who is who).
While Act 1 of Disney Dreamlight Valley: A Rift in Time will bring 3 new Villagers to players’ Valleys, you can expect additional Characters to be added as the expansion story continues. There will be two additional acts released in 2024, bringing new Villagers, stories, and surprises!
Scramblecoin Arrives in the Valley!
New friends, places, critters, and stories await you on Eternity Isle—but that’s not all! We’re introducing a brand-new way to strengthen your Friendships with your favorite Villagers: Scramblecoin!
This easy to learn but difficult to master board game can be played with your Villagers and includes a wide range of Disney and Pixar characters as game pieces that ensure every game you play is unique. Collectors can also rejoice—you’ll be able to discover and craft new game pieces with their own attributes and abilities using the Time Bending Station.
Bonus Rewards for Early Adopters
We’re so excited to see everyone’s enthusiasm for the Disney Dreamlight Valley: A Rift in Time expansion pass and intend to celebrate the first players to land on Eternity Isle’s shores! All expansion pass owners who check their in-game mailbox from December 5 to December 12 will be able to claim two exclusive bonuses—a Jester Monkey and a royal costume.

GLOBAL LAUNCH ON DECEMBER 5th
Early Access has been incredibly valuable for the entire Disney Dreamlight Valley team. Thanks to your enthusiasm and participation over the past year, we have had the chance to build the game we aspired to, while implementing your feedback to make the Valley experience even more magical. Reflecting on the journey we’ve been on with all of you, we’re so excited to share that on December 5th, Disney Dreamlight Valley will be leaving Early Access.
As we transition to launch, existing players will keep their access to the game, their Moonstones, and their save game.
AN UPDATE ON FREE-TO-PLAY
As we look ahead to the official launch, with the learnings we've gained from Early Access, we’ve made the decision to remain a paid game for the foreseeable future. This means we will not make the transition to be a free-to-play game when we leave Early Access on December 5th.
This choice ensures that Disney Dreamlight Valley will be able to continue delivering on a premium game experience for all players. It's important to us that we maintain our promise to keep delivering free content updates that add new characters, realms, clothing, furniture, and more surprises to your Valley. Purchases requiring moonstones will remain optional, fair, and match the level of quality players have come to expect. Players will still be able to collect free Moonstones via Dream Snaps and Chests, or optionally choose to purchase them.
LAUNCH GAME EDITIONS FOR NEW PLAYERS COMING DECEMBER 5
Moving forward, Founder’s Packs will continue to be available through December 4th. When we transition out of Early Access on December 5th, we’ll be unveiling all-new editions. New players can choose to purchase the core game (with bonus Moonstones) on its own, or opt for the Gold Edition, which includes exclusive cosmetic items, access to the A Rift In Time expansion, and even more bonus Moonstones. Take a look at the exact contents below:
As a thank you to our Early Access players, all unique cosmetic items included in the upcoming Gold Edition will be given free of charge to any player who purchases and claims a Founder’s Pack in-game on or before December 4th, no matter the tier. Not only that, but all Founders will also receive 2,500 Moonstones to celebrate this exciting moment!
DISNEY DREAMLIGHT VALLEY: COZY EDITION
As a final note, the Disney Dreamlight Valley: Cozy Edition, a special retail-exclusive edition, is now available for Nintendo Switch™ across North America. The Cozy Edition will be released globally for PlayStation 5®, PlayStation 4®, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch™ on November 10th. Find out more here: https://disneydreamlightvalley.com/cozy-edition
On behalf of the Disney Dreamlight Valley team, we want to thank all of our wonderful players around the world for their continued, unbridled passion. We’re excited to bring you even more magical experiences for years to come. We’ll see you on November 1st!

We are just past the one-year anniversary milestone of Disney Dreamlight Valley’s launch! This community – and your Valleys! – have grown into incredibly magical places to be a part of. Thank you for joining us on this journey.
And the adventure has only just begun! The year is not over yet, so look out for more new and familiar stories to explore in the Valley!
A new Realm door opens!
Featured in our original key art and trailer, Belle is finally making her way to the Valley – along with Beast! Of course, before welcoming this magical duo, you’ll need to help them reunite through a series of quests in the Enchanted Castle, which exists just beyond the Beauty and the Beast Realm Door. We recommend you don your best furniture-inspired outfit and avoid the West Wing.
Welcome Belle and Beast
Once you invite Belle and Beast to your Valleys, you’ll embark on new adventures with each of them. So, what will this enchanting duo get up to once in the Valley? Well, in the case of the former – Belle is on a mission to find a new book, of course! Journey along with Belle to discover the rich and exciting written histories of the Valley.
As for Beast? Well, he could use a confidence booster. Help him look his beastly-best and plan a romantic date with Belle!
Don’t forget about The Forgotten
While many have already completed the main storyline, The Forgotten’s story is far from over! Once you’ve finished the main questline of Disney Dreamlight Valley, you’ll unlock a short series of quests with The Forgotten to discover more about them and help reintegrate them into the Valley.
Haunted Holiday Star Path
Prepare for plenty of frights and delights in this season’s new Star Path! Trick and treat yourself to various items and cosmetics inspired by Disney’s Hocus Pocus, Pirates of the Caribbean, Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas, and Disneyland’s The Haunted Mansion.
The Premium Shop will also get an assortment of new items! Don’t forget to participate in our ongoing DreamSnaps challenges to win Moonstones each week and unlock new and exclusive rewards.
Ursula’s Transformation Dream Bundle
Pond hopping no more – Ursula has finally found her land-legs as Vanessa! Nevertheless, like a fish out of water, she may need some help adjusting to her new form. Fans who purchase her optional Dream Bundle and equip her Vanessa Dream Style will join her on an adventure full of mischief, magic, and maybe stealing a few other characters' voices. It is Ursula, after all!
Fans who complete her new questline will gain an assortment of new cosmetic items and furniture – including her iconic Nautilus Pendant Necklace!
Halloween returns to the Valley once more!
Trick-or-treaters delight! Our candy event is returning to the Valley. From October 24th to November 1st, scour your Plazas for colorful candy buckets to unlock Dreamlight duties and their respective prizes. If you participated last year, you’ll still be able to pick up candy buckets – because who doesn’t love a sweet treat?
Community Based Changes
It’s already been one whole year of content influenced by you, our amazing Community! And we’re not stopping there. Here’s a short list of just some of the changes brought to the game, inspired by players like you:
Your Valley friends are back to their chatty selves! Characters will occasionally have speech bubbles appear as they talk to one another.
Pouch items added to Scrooge Shop rotation. It was never our intention to have some items only available through pink pouches – this bug has been resolved, and you can expect to see items previously found only in pouches (like the coveted Wooden Fruit Stand!) appear on Scrooge’s shelves.
More bang for your buck! Gone are the days of only crafting 1 path or fence – you’ll now receive more pathing and fencing pieces for your crafting materials.
We’ve also been busy behind the scenes the taking care of commonly reported bugs and issues. For a full list of what has been included in this Update, please see HERE.
Should you run into any issues while playing Disney Dreamlight Valley, we first recommend that you check out our known issues HERE. Summer is finally here – and so is new content for Disney Dreamlight Valley! Expect plenty of sweet surprises out of our DreamSnaps Feature Update, from a new Villager to new ways to earn Moonstones and other prizes.
Your Valley Levels Up
Teased in our Roadmaps earlier this year, a new Villager races into the Valley in this update – Vanellope! While she brings her candy-sweet cuteness to the Valley, she also has her own opinions on how the Valley could ‘level up’! Join her in a series of game-inspired quests, from Extreme Valley Design to LARPing. She’ll also help you get your Valley looking picture perfect for… DreamSnaps!
DreamSnaps
Your camera is about to get an upgrade! In helping Vanellope rejoin the Valley, you’ll harness the power of a new magic in the Valley – Pixel Dust! Once you’ve collected enough to welcome Vanellope, you’ll also unlock DreamSnaps – a fun new competitive game mode where you can unleash your creativity each week in a variety of ever-changing challenges. Every week, DreamSnaps will feature a new theme that you have to either dress or decorate for.
Our team is incredibly excited to bring this feature to our Early Access players, and will continue to explore Quality of Life improvements in future updates. We’ll be closely monitoring player feedback to help inform the future of this feature, so let us know what you think on our social channels!
How DreamSnaps Works
Every Wednesday at 1PM UTC, a new challenge will await you in the Event tab of the Menu. You’ll find a brief description of the challenge theme, and whether you need to use Furniture or Clothing to complete it. Take note of the mandatory and suggested item tags – these will be important factors to keep in mind for your final challenge score! Your final challenge score will determine the Pixel Dust amount you receive – which will in-turn help you level up on the DreamSnaps level track – unlocking a variety of rewards, including clothing, furniture, and even Moonstones.
In addition to checking on the active challenge requirements in the Menu, you can also find them while in Photo Mode where you’ll be doing the challenge’s heavy lifting. If your photo does not meet the requirements for that week’s challenge, you will be unable to submit it. Additionally, players will not be able to feature Touch of Magic Clothing or Furniture at this time in their DreamSnaps images. Further, snapping photos near Touch of Magic items you’ve created (even while obscured) will not allow you to submit your image, so make sure to frame your images without any in-frame. Stay tuned to our Trello board for fixes for this in the future.
Not sure what items count towards a challenge? In Furniture and Wardrobe mode, you can use the ‘Filters’ button to sort your inventory by tags. You can also use the new DreamSnaps toggle to sort the most relevant items for a given challenge to the top of your inventory, provided you have ones that are applicable. Missing items for a specific week’s challenge? Don’t forget to talk to Scrooge McDuck to browse his furniture catalogue using item filters. He’d be happy to help contribute his stock to your DreamSnap design – for a few Star Coins, of course.
Once you’ve created the perfect design, be it with Clothing or Furniture depending on the week’s theme, head into Photo Mode. Once you’ve snapped a photo, you’ll see a new option to submit your design. If it fits all the requirements for the theme, your image will successfully be submitted. You can always view your submission in the Event tab of the Menu!
Changed your mind? You can update your submission by taking a new photo and resubmitting it. Keep in mind that any new submissions will overwrite previously submitted images.
It’s Time to Vote!
It doesn’t stop there! The week following each challenge brings a new theme, but also a week-long voting period for the previous challenge, during which you can jump back into the competition and vote on your favorite designs from fellow Valley Villagers! Just visit the Event tab in the Menu, and press the ‘Vote Now’ button. You can earn an additional 50 Moonstones per challenge by voting, so don’t forget to participate each week!
Lastly, it wouldn’t be a competition without prizes! Every participant in a DreamSnaps challenge will earn a minimum of 300 Moonstones and a randomized selection of furniture or clothing items – depending on the week’s challenge type – from Scrooge’s Store*. The better your design performs in a challenge (taking into account both how many items matched that week’s theme and your garnered votes) translates to more Moonstones earned. There are a variety of different prize tiers, with the top five designers bringing home upwards of 5,500 or more Moonstones that week! Moonstones earned can be used to unlock progress in Star Paths or purchase optional cosmetic items from the in-game Premium Shop.
Keep an eye on your in-game mailbox the Wednesday after a challenge’s voting period to see how well you did in the challenge**, and to claim your Pixel Dust, Moonstones, and other rewards!
*At this time, both challenge types will grant players clothing items. This will be resolved in a future update. **Please note that there is no publicly visible leaderboard. PlayStation users will only be able to participate in DreamSnaps challenges with other PlayStation users.
Community Based Changes
While this update focuses on welcoming DreamSnaps and Vanellope to the Valley, we also wanted to take a second to recognize some changes to Disney Dreamlight Valley brought on by you, our players!
Tired of seeing the same L-Shaped couch? Scrooge has taken a look at his stock and will now feature less repeats day-to-day.
While we saw many fans excited about the blue chest upgrade in the “A Festival of Friendship” update, we wanted to introduce more ways for fans to earn Moonstones in-game, for free. Through participation in DreamSnaps, fans can earn an additional 350 (or more!) Moonstones per week, with rewards increasing depending on their standing in each week’s challenge.
Valley Villagers can now zoom around the Valley longer with energy drain caused by hovering reduced by ~80%.
We’ve also been busy behind the scenes squashing a large amount of bugs. For a full list of what has been included in this Update, please see HERE.
Should you run into any issues while playing Disney Dreamlight Valley, we first recommend that you check out our known issues HERE. If you don’t see the issue you’re running into, you can get in touch with our Support team via our contact form. Running into issues with a certain quest or objective? In addition to sweet new content, you can expect a variety of bug fixes and improvements out of this update that focus on improving quality of life around the Valley, from better efficiency hovering around, to Switch-specific performance improvements.
Check out all the details below:
NEW CONTENT AND IMPROVEMENTS:
Flex your creativity and compete in weekly, community-wide photo challenges with DreamSnaps! Each week, earn a variety of prizes for participating, including Moonstones, furniture, and clothing items!
** Please note: Touch of Magic Clothing and Furniture are not compatible with DreamSnaps and cannot be included in submissions in order to keep the feature a fun environment for all players.
Vanellope loads into the Valley, bringing with her some sweet new Friendship Quests and items to earn!
Keep up with Vanellope with more efficient hovering. The energy drain when hovering has been reduced by ~80%, giving you more bang for your energy buck!
The video capture feature built into the Nintendo Switch hardware has been disabled, helping reduce the frequency of crash rates. The dev team is continuing to closely monitor this topic as they consider further changes to improve performance.
** Please note: Video capture via capture card and screenshot capture on Switch are unaffected and will continue to function as expected.
General stability has been improved on Nintendo Switch. We continue to explore further means of optimization for future updates.
The inventory of Scrooge McDuck’s Store has received a slight rebalance to reduce the chance of duplicates appearing. This is a small, preliminary tweak as we investigate this topic further and look into changes that could be made for future updates.
