Community Update

As you’re all aware, we’ve been very quiet recently about what we’ve got planned for Euro Fishing, but now we’ve got enough solid progress to be able to get you all updated on our plans for the next few weeks.

Euro Fishing Patch:

We had originally hoped to release a patch that brought all platforms in line with one another, as we launched on PlayStation 4. In the process of developing that update for XBOX and PC we encountered a couple of critical issues that resulted in it being held back for more work. We then saw the severity of the “fish on land bug” and set about adding that fix to the overall update, so the whole patch has taken a little longer than we planned.

We know we’ve been incredibly quiet. It was important that as we got on with the update, we didn’t give you any incorrect information if we could avoid it. We do appreciate all the constructive feedback received and you’ve done some amazing bug reporting and idea giving.

So – that’s where we are at with a patch. Our small Fishing development team have been working hard on a development update for all three platforms, PC/XBOX/PS4. This update will address some of the bugs and issues you’ve carefully reported. We hope to be bringing you patch notes and a date of release for each platform as soon as we can, it’s currently close to done and going through rounds of testing.

Foundry Dock Add-On:

For those of you asking how the Foundry Dock Add-On is progressing, well, it’s very close to completion! We will be able to bring you a release date soon once it passes its first round of certification with the XBOX and PS4 platforms.

Thanks for all of your detailed feedback and your continued support of Euro Fishing, you guys are awesome!

Forthcoming PC update

Following on from yesterday’s announcement regarding our PlayStation 4 release date, we also wanted to update our existing PC players on what else we have been doing.

We have been updating and improving the PC and Xbox One versions to bring all 3 platforms in line with each other. The next update for PC and Xbox One will be available after the PlayStation 4 release and will include the following;

• Updated from Unreal Engine version 4.12 to version 4.13
• New loading and splash screen images.
• Improvements to fish behaviour, fish fighting and fish AI.
• Reel speed improvements.
• Telemetry update.
• Other bug fixes and improvement.

After this update, we will be able to concentrate fully on improving and expanding Euro Fishing across all 3 platforms simultaneously and will soon have our first piece of DLC available. Further details on this will be provided in due course

New Update now live

Dear Community

We have just released another update for Euro Fishing which aims to fix the known issues from the previous build. As ever, community input is vital as although all testing has shown this build to have no problems it's impossible for us to emulate the many thousands of hours that you all spend with this release. If you do find something that isn’t right then please let us know with as much information as possible, including; game mode, lake, action performed, equipment being used.

Fixes for this build include the following;

- Fixed issue preventing the Friends leaderboard from displaying correctly when taking part in the challenges.
- Fixed issue that caused the game to enter an unresponsive state when putting down the spod rod on a claimed peg.
- Fixed an issue which caused clients to not be able to claim pegs in a multiplayer match.
- Fixed a crash that could occur when spawning on a lake in a multiplayer match.
- Fixed an issue preventing users from being able to get past the registration screen when running the game in French.

Kind Regards
Euro Fishing Team

New Live Tournaments launch tomorrow

The December league gets under way tomorrow and we are excited to say that the daily tournaments have had a revamp! The tournaments are now designed to add variety on a day to day basis but also stay true to the fish that you want to catch from each lake and the kind of competitions you could expect to fish in real life, testing all of your angling techniques and skills over the course of the week. The new schedule is as follows;

Event name: Linear Monday – St Johns Lake

Event date and time: Every Monday from 8am GMT for 24 hours

‘Linear Monday’ takes place on the famous St Johns Lake and is a great way to start the competitive week. Being a big open gravel pit, there is plenty of opportunities to cast at long range but the margins should never be ignored! The challenge is to catch the biggest combined weight of common carp and catfish that you can with 2 x 60 minute attempts to record your best score.

Event name: 3-Coarse Tuesday – The Observatory

Event date and time: Every Tuesday from 8am GMT for 24 hours

‘3-Coarse Tuesday’ is the tournament that shows it’s not all about catching those huge carp! Here you are targeting the bream, tench and roach but remember that despite The Observatory being our introductory lake, it still contains some specimen sized fish! The action should be fast paced and to reflect that you have to catch as many fish as possible with 4 x 30 minute attempts available to record your best score.

Event name: Carp Wednesday – Digger Lake

Event date and time: Every Wednesday from 8am GMT for 24 hours

‘Carp Wednesday’ takes place on Digger Lakes – our licensed venue based in Devon, UK. This intimate lake is a series of islands and channels, perfect for stalking the carp that reside in here. You may have to stay mobile as they use the layout of the lake to their advantage, always looking to seek shelter. Being a carp only venue, only carp count and you need to catch the biggest combined weight of fish that you can with 2 x 60 minute attempts to record your best score.

Event name: Matchday Thursday – L’Arene

Event date and time: Every Thursday from 8am GMT for 24 hours

‘Matchday Thursday’ is held on L’Arene, a traditional match fishing venue. Here the rules are very simple – catch the highest weight of fish that you can with every species counting. However, tactics aren’t as simple with the lake full of smaller fish, will you try to build your weight up with the float or will you wait for some of the bigger carp to come along using carp fishing methods? You have 4 x 30 minute attempts to decide and record your best score.

Event name: Spanish Friday – Presa Del Monte Bravo

Event date and time: Every Friday from 8am GMT for 24 hours

‘Spanish Friday’ is a great way to end the competitive week by trying your hand on our mountainous venue Presa Del Monte Bravo that is home to our biggest fish including a monstrous 150lb catfish! In this tournament you are targeting mirror and leather crap as well as the big catfish so strong equipment will be needed. This is all about how many fish you can catch with the highest number winning. You have 2 x 60 minute attempts to catch your best score.

Some points to remind you of regarding our live tournaments;

1.Regardless of what settings you have chosen, the leaderboard in game will be set to metric and display your score in kilograms.

2. Please be consistent with your character / user name to ensure that you are picking up maximum points. Matt and Matthew may be the same person but will be registered as two different! Try to use something unique (but not offensive) to ensure you pick up the correct points each time.

•Each week we will be hosting 6 tournaments (one per week day plus one for the weekend)

•Winning (or ranking well) in a tournament gives you League points (see appendix below)

•Players accumulate League Points over the course of each month.

•League rankings will be published and updated in this thread.

•At the end of each month the Top 10 players get a Euro-Fishing t-shirt (maximum of 4 t-shirts per player)

Euro Fishing on sale!

We are delighted to announce that Dovetail Games Euro Fishing is now a massive 60% off on PC during the Steam Autumn sale!

Update is now live!

We are pleased to announce that our latest update has been passed by Microsoft and is now available to both Xbox One and PC players. We appreciate the patience you have shown whilst this update has gone through testing and certification.

Highlights of this update include the following;

• This build aims to prevent fish from being able to swim onto the bank. We have spent over a week testing this and have not seen it happen at all. However, we cannot replicate it being played by the 10’s of thousands of you so if anyone does experience a fish going onto land, please let us know the details including which lake and which peg within that lake.

• Line ‘snapping’ randomly has also been fixed and should not happen anymore. As above, if anyone does still experience this then let us know!

• Multiple takes – now if you are playing a fish and get a fish on your second rod, you will have 2 minutes before that fish escapes. If you are lucky enough to get a bite on your third rod, you will have 4 minutes before that fish escapes.

• We have updated UE4 to version 4.12.5

• We have changed the way our physics system works so that fish now behave more realistically and make the fight feel smoother.

• Megladon – Our biggest catfish has proved very tricky to catch so we have made it slightly easier to get him to take your bait (but we aren’t telling you how!)

• Surface tension on the line so that it now floats on the water when necessary.

• Improvement to the reel mechanics.

• Fixed clients sometimes being unable to connect to multiplayer games hosted under the same NAT.

• Optimised several assets in multiple lakes

The following bugs have also been fixed in this update

• A soft lock will occur in the 'Baiting' tutorial if the user walks away from the peg.

• Score is taken in Challenges when the casting goes out of bounds and is pulled into the water.

• Steam profiles are not displayed after selection in the leaderboards.

• Rod selection and pick up rod buttons lose functionality when opening tournament map.

• Opening and closing the pause menu causes the line to be reeled in a small amount.

• Progress in the Academy (tutorial) stages can be blocked by using a reel exploit.

• If the hook bounces on the water during a Distance challenge, it counts as two casts.

• Music plays throughout single player tournaments that is only intended to play at the beginning.

• Score is taken in Challenges when the casting goes out of bounds and is pulled into the water.

Changes to the Global League's

We feel it is time to give our points system in the global league's a freshen up and have a greater deal of separation in the points to allow those that rank high to catch up or move through the league rankings with greater ease rather than sharing the same number of points with someone who may have finished several positions below them. Therefore, the commencement of the October league will see the following points awarded;

1st - 30 points

2nd - 25 points

3rd - 23 points

4th - 22 points

5th - 21 points

6th - 20 points

7th - 19 points

8th - 18 points

9th - 17 points

10th - 16 points

through to 25th getting 1 point.

The October Global League starts with this weekend's tournament with details listed in a separate thread.
