Yes, we didn't push many updates during the last week, but it's mostly because we're deep into game settings.
We're making sure they're flawless (and believe me, in Unity video settings are not always that trivial and clean!), and they do cover a solid amount of options (even though we might add some in the future too).
The .02 update is probably gonna go online on monday or tuesday (true, our Easter holiday are gone legs up thanks to the virus, but allow us a weekend of semi-chilling :D ), then we're onto the achievements manager. We're also preparing all the contents for localization (and believe me, it's a lot of stuff!)
Meanwhile we are also fixing a few bugs in the while (we get less and less bug reports and that's golden, specially as feedback reports keep on coming).
And last, but not least, our George is working on the new province screens, and I am sure you will love them (but it takes more time to get those on the build, maybe a beta branch earlier though ;) ) Sneak a peek!

Steam Demo now includes Sandbox!
Several of you are not interested in the whole blah blah of the campaign dialogs, nothing bad with that! But how could you know if you liked the game without that part if we didn't open it up in the demo as well?
Fight and conquer for 25 turns, in 5 provinces, and using up to two tiers of research. You can't say we ain't lovely this time!
If you got any issue, ping us with the F11 ingame tool, and we will fix them with the speed of light!
Cheers and see you around, Dr.H

Early Access Diaries #5 Stay home, code games
Like I said, we're a bit late with this, that's undeniable. BUT, we did a lot, and we kept you up to date with our updates as well. Bugs start to appear more and more rarely, so balancing and adding new features has been among the main focus. We're also preparing all the texts for translations.
We're gathering your feedback continuously, through the ingame tool, on discord, on the forums, etc, ugually in 7 days batches. Then at the end of the week we do average (yes, we happened to get in the same week about the same map or topic both the "It's too easy" and "it's too hard", but that's normal) and then decide what to apply, what not, and in what order.
I really think the balancing is shaping up a lot more nicely now, both in battle and in the campaign itself. There's still a lot to do, but well, we're here to do it!

0849.01.9
The tooltip now disappeaers automatically upon Closing the Panel in eventsprevention
Fixed a bug that caused a console error if the path to the HQ province was interrupted
Increased the wood cost of the Ballista by 20 units
Reduced by 10% the size of the Ballista Bolt collider
Decreased the gold cost of the Rangers tower by 20 units
What's coming next? Well, first of all we need to finally refactor the tutorial. Instead of a single long one, I want to make 2-4 shorter ones, more modular, more focused on single topics each. Then it's Settings, Achievements and Localization.
On we go, let's march! Dr.H, Lead Designer
0849.01.9 Another one? Wow!

Please note. We did test on old saves, and it stays consistent. Only on some very old ones we had a strange occurrence in which the first attempt at preventing an event didn't sparkle any dialog. Should it happen, the second time it fixes itself automatically, and from the 3rd time on, you can use the new UI directly. For new games the problem shouldn't exist at all.
If anything, keep the feedback coming, you guys are being awesome and very very helpful!
0849.01.7 You will like it
Surprisingly no bugs reported this time, but we started adding a few improvements to the UX and a new feature too! (and some balancing as well)
Added persistence to Candidate Officers until the end of the current turn. UI button to reach them added as well.

Impending Riots and ways to delay those Riots
The Western Marches are aflame with rebellion and riots. Don't let a single, temporarily tamed, province deceive you at times. They are not happy, they are not welcoming you. In the best cases, they are trying their best to tolerate you. That said, for most of the game, riots will keep on happening periodically. We are working on a system to distribute them even better based on provinces stats, and even to determine their duration and strenght based on each province rebellion, but you can't stop them (well, you can, but that's a story we won't spoil).
You can't stop them, but you can delay them, though. Let's see how riots work first.
Once the riot timer has started (since a specific dialog in the Campaign, or since the first turn in Sandbox mode), the system determines a pseudorandom number of turns to next riot, based on the difficulty. 14 to 18 in Easy mode, 9 to 12 in Intermediate mode, and 4 to 6 in Hard mode.
This base timer, is modified as follow by the % of achieved chapter objectives (this only works in Campaign mode):
25% Objectives +1
50% Objectives +2
75% Objectives +3
Your relations with the Folks also impact this timer:
-1 for each 10 points below 50%
+1 for each 10 points above 50%
Conquering or losing a province, gives a one time bonus or malus to the timer instead, also based on the game difficulty.
Conquering province :
+9 (Easy)
+5(Intermediate)
+3 (hard)
Losing province:
-2 (Easy)
-4 (Intermediate)
-6 (hard)
In order to avoid an excessive unbalancing of the game though, the maximum number of turns to the next riot is limited to the following values. (Conquering a province will add bonus turns, but it will still have this value as a maximum cap).
Max Turns to Next riot
Easy: 20
Intermediate: 15
Hard: 8
Summarizing, if you stay friendly with the Folks and work towards achieving your chapter objectives, and distribute wisely your conquest of the Marches, riots will be a lot less frequent than if you don't do all the above. Easy no?
If you have questions, don't hesitate to ask! Cheers, Dr.H
