After each completed game players will earn credits. Credits may be used to level up characters and unlock perks.
Each character may now be leveled up by spending credits. Leveling up a character will give a choice of two Perks, players choose one of the two perks to unlock on that character. Perks grant players bonuses while they are in human form. Players may equip up to three unique perks before each round.
There are two types of perks: General Perks and Character Perks. General perks are represented by a hexagon, Character perks by an upside-down triangle.
Character perks are only available on a specific character. Currently, each character has 2 unique character perks with three levels of rarity and power. Example: Only the medic may unlock and equip Bedside Manner and Remote Diagnostics.
General perks may be unlocked by any character. There is a pool of 23 general perks which may be unlocked by any character. Like with character perks, these perks have 3 levels of rarity and power.
Abilities now have three levels of rarity and power. Abilities are automatically unlocked on each character and are upgraded through ascending.
Characters start at level 1 and be leveled up to 20. At level 20, characters may be ascended. With each ascension a character will have better odds of receiving higher rarity perks when leveling up. For each ascension a character will be guaranteed to receive the next level of their character perks and ability. With the ability being received at level 1, and the character perks at levels 5 and 10.
Character loadouts have been altered to include slots for perks. The current ascension of a character is indicated by the number of ascension symbols beside the character's class name.
Loadouts can be saved in the character progression tab in the main menu. Selecting a character in the pre-game screen will cause the character’s saved loadout to be selected.
