EVERSPACE 2: Wrath of the Ancients Star Systems and Locations
Greetings, Pilots!
Beyond the borders of Colonial space lay mysterious dangers, alien wormholes, extreme radiation, battlefield debris, ancient ruins, and other exciting challenges for space pilots willing to venture deep into uncharted territory.
Let’s take a look at some of the new locations you’ll be exploring in EVERSPACE 2: Wrath of the Ancients.
Is that new music? Why yes, it is!
Let’s go a little deeper.
Aethon
For years, EVERSPACE pilots have been asking when they’ll be able to explore this star system in full. The answer is soon™.
Aethon is a dangerous system filled with radiation fields and warship hulks drifting in the dark. Scrappers seeking a payday off this wreckage put their lives on the line against Outlaw bandits and hazards left from the Colonial War.
Humankind no longer maintains any organized presence here. The system's aging, unstable red star casts a hellish light over the wreckage of research stations and old Freelancer bases—even before the war, previous attempts to establish settlements were difficult due to the dangerous environment. Years under hostile conditions have clawed away at structures, but they may still hold some secrets. The events that point Adam towards this system involve an old friend. You’ll have to wait to find out more.
Khaït Dominion
The closest Okkar rim system to the Colonial border is also one of the most sacred to the Okkar. Years ago, when Humankind expansion encroached into this system, the Okkar retaliated in force.
Planets, once desert-haven cradles to the Okkar civilization, are now loosely populated by few, dotted with ancient structures and mysterious ruins. Historical records say this system was a home to the Ancients as they nurtured the Okkar into a starfaring species, but their monuments are now dormant tombstones.
Strange as it sounds, a natural wormhole bridges this system with the Khaït Nebula. Due to this anomaly, possibly connected to the Ancients, the fabric between dimensions is especially thin here, leading to the growth of Viridium in large fields.
Rhak Homeworlds
This system is the beating heart of this sector of modern Okkar civilization. Much of their population lives on gigantic orbital stations and sprawling mega-structures covering the planets below them. The advanced technology of the Okkar can clearly be seen in these structures and the gigantic wormhole generator arrays that lead to Ushak Sanctuary and the Khaït Dominion.
Though it has been more than a decade since the end of the war, some structures still bear the scars of Human attacks—wreck fields with the remains of Okkar and Colonial warships have yet to be cleared due to their massive scale. The hardline anti-Human faction, Okkar Prime, point to these remnants of conflict as they push to reclaim territory they feel had been wrongly ceded to the colonists.
This system is also home to two stars: one white, the other yellow. Billions of years ago, the second ejected its corona as plasma when it became a white dwarf, leaving ghostly plasma fields that exist to this day. Human astronomers are unsure how planets in the system survived this event, though the influence of the Ancients may be the cause. Even now, the system remains rich in the resources that corporations such as G&B covet.
????????????????????
Be prepared when venturing into the "Forbidden System". This most ancient of the Okkar worlds is a religious center holy to the Okkar, home to few—even Outlaws and Redeemers know to keep well away.
The welcome presence of a non-Okkar is unprecedented. How will you be visiting this system? Will you be welcome at all?
If you haven’t already, make sure to watch our most recent devstream as our Community Manager, Garry, tours through seven different locations that will be explorable in Wrath of the Ancients. When the expansion releases later this year, you’ll be able to play through these and more.
Stay tuned for more news, our next update on these channels will be a deep dive into our new ship, The Wraith.

EVERSPACE 2: Wrath of the Ancients Announced!
Greetings, Pilots!
Today, we announce EVERSPACE 2: Wrath of the Ancients, a massive expansion that adds a sprawling post-game story, multiple star systems, extensive side quests, new player ship, and more. Before diving into what’s to come, check out our announcement trailer.
Attacks on Colonial settlements by weapons of the Ancients spark conflict in Cluster 34 once again. As these take place, a rising Okkar faction argues that if the Ancients reject Humankind, so should their people. With the uneasy peace threatened, Adam and crew will venture into the Okkar Homeworlds to discover the truth behind the threat before war reignites the DMZ.
We chose Tareen, voiced by the amazing June Yoon, as the character to voice this announcement trailer as Wrath of the Ancients explores the story of the Okkar and the aftermath of the war that tore Cluster 34 apart. Throughout their history, the Okkar have been closely tied to the Ancients—a species Ancients lifted to the stars, who now live among the ruins of those who came before. The story ahead will answer many questions and possibly create new ones for the future.
EVERSPACE 2 | Expansion Teaser
In our last stream of 2024, we teased Aethon, a star system many of you space pilots have been asking to visit. This system is filled with time-ravaged wrecks, shattered Colonial weapons, and leftover remnants from the war, a perfect place for an enterprising scavenger to explore. The team is busy packing new locations full of secrets, new puzzle types, and rewards for inquisitive players.
Aethon is only a small part of EVERSPACE 2: Wrath of the Ancients. We’ll be journeying to several of the stars of the Okkar civilization and visiting many new areas in orbit, deep space, and on planets. All you lore hounds should get ready, as our writing team has been creating very cool storylines that explore these alien regions of space. Pilots will have much to discover between these new locations and expanded existing star systems.
In addition to the new post-game storyline, pilots can seek out new side quests that build on events of the base game. These will be spread not only in new systems, but also in ones you’ve visited already. Many stories are left to be told in the DMZ—adventures for the brave and fearsome enemies who remain in the shadows. There’s a hint to one somewhere in this blog. Let’s see if any of you guess what it is.
For our more combat-focused fans, soon you’ll be able to take flight in the Okkar Wraith ship against a variety of challenging new enemies. This new ship sports a variety of powerful new abilities that reward players who put it all on the line in close combat. You’ll be able to power up any ship you choose to fly with new weapons and gear, including a new upgradable Okkar equipment type, which we’ll share more about in future blog posts.
EVERSPACE 2: Wrath of the Ancients comes to Steam, GOG, Xbox, and PlayStation late Spring. We’ll have more to share about the new star systems, enemies, gear, and characters here and on our social channels in the months ahead. Make sure to follow us on YouTube, Facebook, Bluesky, Tik Tok, X, and Instagram for sneak peeks. Stay tuned!
Soon™, the Ancients will awaken!

Wrapping Up 2024 | Expansion Tease
Greetings pilots!
As 2024 comes to a close, the ROCKFISH team is headed out for the winter break. Our end of year gift to the community is a little peek at what we've been working on plus some killer discounts on EVERSPACE base games and DLC! Skip down to the end of the post to check out the teaser, otherwise read on for our recap of the year!
We began 2024 with looks at content coming in the free Incursions update as well as insights into the Unreal Engine 5 migration we released along the same time. Incursions brought a new horde mode event, legendary gear, and reliquaries, as well as even greater endgame challenges. A tremendous amount of work went into this update, giving players more to do and our developers tools to create expansion content for EVERSPACE 2.
We also celebrated the 10 year anniversary of ROCKFISH Games! Our CEO and Creative Director sat down to chat about their experiences working together since the studio was started. We’re a small team and many of our developers have been working together for years, even previous to the founding of the studio. Here’s to another decade of space games!
Shortly before the release of the Incursions update, EVERSPACE 2 was awarded Best German Game at the 2024 Deutschen Computerspielpreis (German Computer Game Awards)! We couldn’t be more proud as this is Germany’s biggest game developer event. Winning this was recognition for the incredible work done during the team’s six year journey on EVERSPACE 2 and gave us renewed motivation to continue crafting quality space games on PC and consoles!
Along with Incursions came many engine changes under the hood that brought improvements and a few challenges that have largely been solved. We released a fun blog showing many of the more amusing visual bugs that popped up early in the project. If you’re curious about some of the hurdles we faced, check out this article on the Unreal Developer Blog outlining some of the work the RFG team tackled in the update.
Alongside the Incursions update, we also released the EVERSPACE 2: Supporter Pack. The community of space fans had been asking how they could support ROCKFISH while we worked on future content, and this was our answer. The team packed this full of ship skins and customization features, including a cool cybernetic glow look inspired by a bug shown in our Unreal Engine migration bug blog, this optional cosmetic DLC.
We also released a physical print edition of The Art of EVERSPACE 2. Originally, this book was supposed to be a much smaller volume, but with all the amazing concept art created for the game, we got away from ourselves. This fantastic 280+ artbook is still in stock on Amazon and makes a great gift for space and sci-fi fans *hint hint*.
Alienware has supported us at events during our launch journey, so we developed a special free Alienware Ship Skin as a way to say thanks to their team and the PC space game community. The ship skin is still free on Steam! Grab it today to give your ships a sleek white, black, and green look.
EVERSPACE 2: Titans is our first gameplay DLC for EVERSPACE 2 and amongst the team, we’re calling it our smaller one! Teased on the ROCKFISH Games stream shortly before Gamescom, Titans brings two exciting mini-adventures with replayable encounters and a whole armory of new weapons and gear to the table. These new repeatable experiences brought plenty for space fans to do while we focused on more story-based adventures and locations for our upcoming expansion.
As part of the Titans reveal, our Community Manager, Garry voiced a fantastic deep dive into the inner flora and fauna of the Leviathan. Perhaps we should get him in the V/O booth as a character someday! Like the idea? Let us know in the comments!
As a German studio, Gamescom is our home show and the Indie Arena Booth is one of the best places to see upcoming games at the event—There’s no better place to see a sheer amount of creativity per square meter in the whole show! We surprised space fans at the show with a hands-on demo of a mission from the Dreadnought mission chain from Titans. It was great seeing familiar faces and new space pilots from all over Europe. Truly, this is one of our favorite events and we can’t wait for the next time we have something timely to show there.
While we were at Gamescom, we met a bunch of incredible indies to give shoutouts to, many of whom were also from our Studio’s hometown, Hamburg! If you haven’t yet watched our ROCKFISH Shoutouts video, check it out! All these developers were excited to share their creations with gamers—you might just find your next favorite indie!
Funny how we always seem to be placed right next to our friends at Egosoft!
Meeting fans from Japan, China, and all over the world at Tokyo Game Show was an exciting time as well! We frequently join the German Games Pavilion at events to showcase some of the best games created in Germany to fans around the globe. If you ever hear of us at an event, please drop by to say hi. It’s always appreciated!
The team has been quiet about what we’ve been working on, but that’s going to change next year! As part of a new adventure, space pilots will return to Aethon, just one of the star systems coming in an all-new EVERSPACE 2 expansion launching in 2025. That’s just the tip of the asteroid, we don’t want to give too much away—Stay tuned for the full announcement, expansion title, and more info in the new year!
Also, that cool BOB shirt Garry was wearing on stream is available on the IGN Store. The holidays are here, so treat yourself!
We wish all you space pilots a happy and safe holiday season. See you in the new year!

Combat & Crew: A New Cross Studio Bundle
It’s no secret that the ROCKFISH Games team loves space games. From Freelancer to FTL, space games of all kinds inspire us to craft epic experiences for genre fans around the globe.
Void Crew by Hutlihut Games caught our eye early on as a cool way to enjoy a different kind of space game experience where players work together to survive. Running from one situation to the next, whether it’s piloting the ship, blasting away at enemies using the ship’s guns, making emergency repairs, or being launched out of an airlock to scavenge resources off a derelict ship, crew members get to experience different kinds of encounters every time they play. With our roguelike roots, we love this kind of thing!
Void Crew is a Chaotic, Co-op Roguelite game for 1 to 4 players: Outfit your spaceship and crew for thrilling quests, brave fierce enemies in Space Battles... and try not to panic!
It’s a great concept that the Hutlihut team has pulled off magnificently after a busy time in Early Access. We hope to see them continue to succeed!
Our two studios have crewed up with a new Steam bundle that includes a discount to help fans of our respective series find new space games to try. We hope our fans will enjoy their frantic co-op gameplay while theirs can dive into the vast explorable starsystems of Cluster 34! A special shout out to our friends at Focus Entertainment for helping to set this up.
We’ll see all you EVERSPACE fans later today with our yearly recap and a little tease of what we’ve been working on.
