Friday the 13th: The Game

Patch 1.02 - XP/Perks/Save Data Fixes, exploits removed, etc. !!!Important!!! WE ARE LIVE

Posted this build last night round 1:30AM EST a couple days ago but we've been monitoring to ensure stability. Seems things are on the right track. Nothing changed with notes, so here ya go!

To optimize the database further, we have moved character profiles to the save file system, persisting in the cloud instead.

However, this means that:
- Counselor Perk and Clothing selections will have to be assigned again.
- Jason grab kill selections will have to be assigned again.

You still have everything you had before, it's just storing your per-character settings in a different spot now.

Improvements

- Added a Random option in the lobby.
- Turned intro volume down.
- Increased effectiveness of Jason and Counselor spawn preference options. Shuffling the possible Jason list 3x as much to help randomness.
- Disabled inhale sound effect for breathing while in a hiding spot.
- Made dead body stingers less obnoxious: Ignored while being pursued by Jason; 10s cooldown; Will not fire for witnessed nearby deaths.

Fixes

- Fixed issue where you have infinite stamina.
- Fixed a few areas where the player couldn't reach with Jason. Also fixed a stuck spot on Packanack.
- Fixed perk roller UI sometimes getting stuck if there is an error talking to the database.
- Fixed session heartbeat requests to be more resilient to service failures.
- Fixed some bugs with incremental Steam stats achievements. NOTE: These do not always update while the game client is open, sometimes taking until you exit the game before Steam shows progress.
- Fixed character hair stretching at lower frame rate.
- Fixed inverted mouse look and mouse sensitivity options not working on the input settings UI.
- Fixed Jason not always aborting the knife throw when stunned.
- Fixed a case where it was possible to get stuck in a knife throw.
- Fixed some visibility issues with the door interaction icons.
- Fixed some placement issues with dropped items.
- Fixed Jason's mask floating when knocked off.
- Fixed Jason not always cancelling shift or morph if they hit a car in reverse.
- Fixed an issue with the hiding spot exit code.
- Fixed Counselors potentially getting stuck inside of a wall if hit while climbing through a window at the perfect time.
- Fixed Rotate Minimap With Player not updating when changed until a map change.
- Fixed some server specific crashes.
- Fixed people being able to share settings save games.

If you are having issues on connecting; go to your "C:\Users\youaccountname\AppData\Local\SummerCamp\Saved\SaveGames" and remove all the files inside or move them, this fixed it for me. (Enable Hidden Folders)

Servers are back online!

WE ARE LIVE!

You should no longer see the database login failure, you should see your stats set to where they need to be from gameplay with unlocks and perks and you should able to work with your account as normal.

We hope this is a step in the right direction and are confident in things working well, but please bear with us. We're working hard at it! Apologies for the inconvenience, but this should stabilize things for users.

Unfortunately....around 0.05% of players are still seeing the database login. That’s across all 3 platforms. These could be “bad accounts”. We are looking into that as we speak.

If you had the issue and are now able to get back online, please let us know what you you think of the game and we sincerely thank you for your patience and understanding. This was not a pleasant launch, but our team is thankful for all of you. We're still working hard and checking into the XP leveling issues as well.

PATCH IS LIVE - Notes and Updates - BUILD 2686

Hey all; the patch is live. Please restart your Steam Client. This is our first major fix/improvement patch and we are working on stability. Other fixes are coming, but the most immediate issues have been addressed. You should see better quickplay.

As for those who have 'Database Login Failure'/'Saving Profile Data' - That is a backend issue for servers. We are incrementally working on that. It is separate from the patch and will be disappearing as we work account to account. This one takes some time, but everyone will eventually have that issue removed for the population that still has it.

Also note for backers: DLC is still on hold due to waiting for Steam. We have been waiting for a response for some time now and we won't be able to do anything until we get word. Apologies, but we're messaging as best we can :/

More work, but the fixes are starting to come online!

PATCH NOTES
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Improvements
- Numerous optimizations to Quick Play: Search less, be discovered more; request a smaller sample size when searching to ping fewer results, so the scan to join turn-around is quicker. Will reduce contention issues.
- EasyAntiCheat now verifies content has not been tampered with to prevent content modification cheating methods.
- Reduced the amount of time the QuickPlay lobby timer "bumps" when someone connects or joins to 30s instead of 90 and 45s respectively.
- Drop the lobby timer to 30s instead of 60s when it gets full.

Fixes
- Fixed party members not always following their leader when matchmaking into dedicated servers.
- Fixed a matchmaking slicing issue causing potentially good servers to be ignored/discarded.
- Fixed a UE4 bug with causing the game to freeze when unplugging headphones.
- Fixed Push To Talk not turning off when a gamepad is in use instead of a KB/mouse.
- Fixed the idle timer not properly bumping while spectating. Also bumping it before spawning as Tommy to fix a potential idle kick when that happens.
- Fixed some foot sliding when using the flare gun or shotgun.
- Disabled VR plugins to fix dialogs prompting to use them.
- Fixed players getting the Public Health achievement for healing themselves.
- Fixed stats that are not associated with a leaderboard not always updating on Steam.
- Fixed a permanent black screen on systems that do not support the intro videos correctly. Working on finding out why that occurs on some systems, newer UE4 feature.
- Fixed the intro/outro videos not being sound grouped. Effects volume now affects them.
- Fixed several dedicated and listen server specific crashes.

Oh hey folks. This is ThePraetorian. I'm one of the guys at Gun. You might have seen me in the community forums posting...but not lately. Reason is; Steam for some reason had issues with our back-end on the game and Virtual Cabin...so shit dun goofed.

I'm back.

So;

Steam Pre-orders should be soon. $40USD for the game. Multiplayer only to start and we can't wait to get you guys single player!

Hope you enjoy!

Beta Date Announcement

Beta is going live this weekend!

Keep in mind; we are not able to start up Steam Pre-orders at this time. The only way to gain access to the beta is through pre-ordering here: https://friday-the-13th-the-game.backerkit.com/hosted_preorders

We apologize for the inconvenience, but we will eventually open up pre-orders directly through Steam at a later time. Working with Backerkit gives us the best possible way to manage our beta tiers with crowdfunded backers from both Kickstarter and Backerkit. We understand this is disappointing...but we hope to get information for pre-ordering soon!

For those looking to get access, here are the dates:

MAJOR UPDATE: Single player confirmed, Offline bots, Tommy Jarvis Playable....but slight delay

Hey guys.

Hi there,

We completely accept that and understood that not everyone was going to be happy with our decision. However, we weighed everything and we believe that the course of action we took is overall the better route. We wanted single player, and the tens of thousands of individuals that asked us for it made it a priority in our mind. We pushed BackerKit and we pushed private investment and today we've made that initial goal a reality.

Our game is getting a slight delay for a number or reasons. We're a small team and we have to work on both single and multiplayer at the same time. A lot of teams get to split responsibilities up, but we do not have that luxury. The delay is minimal, however and we plan on being out early next year.

Here is our updated schedule:

-This year for beta. PC only. All pre-orders get a key +4 free keys
-Early 2017 is the multiplayer launch
-Summer 2017 is the single player launch.

Everyone that pre-ordered already gets the new content for free!

Everyone that orders now will get all content, but price is now $40 digital/$60 physical

Remember, this is a passion project and it is meant to be the definitive Friday the 13th gaming experience. It's the game our team wants, and the one we believe fans around the world wants. A small delay in exchange for single player, Tommy Jarvis added to the game and offline bots for those that don't want to play with others opens this up for so many other players and gives everyone and chance to open it up 50 years down the road to maybe have another go.

We want to support this game well into the future, this is just the first step, and while it does mean a delay short term, it offers so much more long-term.

Hope you understand!

New Update - Dev schedule/new counselor reveal/ScareFest/Virtual Cabin Update

UPDATES. UPDATES EVERYWHERE.

The team at Illfonic have been hard at work, and our Friday internal playtests have been going exceedingly well because of it all.

Below we have a screenshot of some in-progress work on the character shader in UE4. The shaders help our already great character models look even better, by making skin look more real and improves the overall appearance of them.

Now, it's time to check out the latest Jason being added to the game.

Jason Concept Art from Part VI: Jason Lives

Friday the 13th: Part 6 marks the first appearance of undead Jason in the films. It was an important moment in the franchise, and now we're doing our damnedest to recreate him for Friday the 13th: The Game. Soon you'll be able to get up close and personal with the man behind the mask.

This Jason model was particularly tough to get right due to the lack of high-res reference images and full body shots with the undermask/makeup. Thanks to many of our partners, cohorts and fans, we've been able to accurately construct Jason to the highest level of detail possible. Hopefully we've helped do our part to preserve a piece of horror and pop culture history!

Now let's jump in and meet our new counselor!

New Counselor Concept Art (Rocker Chick)

Say hi to A.J. Mason! She's a tough as nails rocker, who doesn't take shit from anyone. Her high Composure stat makes her perfect for maintaining her cool when Jason shows up and starts murdering counselors. She's able to slink around, hiding to survive, with a high Stealth stat as well.

New Virtual Cabin Update

We're unlocking the Kitchen and the Bathroom for exploration. Be sure to examine everything you come across, as you never know what you might find...

If you are hankering to dive into the Virtual Cabin yourself, pick one up today on BackerKit and see what all the fuss is about.

Enjoy your time exploring the cabin!

Friday the 13th: The Game at ScareFest

Do you want to meet Friday the 13th cast-members? Do you want to meet Kane Hodder? Tom Savini? Harry Manfredini and even Sean S. Cunningham? What about co-creators Wes Keltner & Ronnie Hobbs and Executive Director Randy Greenback? We're all going to be at The ScareFest on Sept. 30th through Oct. 2nd in Lexington, KY!

Join us, along with the largest gathering of Friday the 13th cast members ever! We'll have a panel and be hanging around the show throughout the weekend!
