Update [15] 0.3 Build

Hey there,

Sorry for a small delay I was visiting my family, and almost entire weekend I didn’t have access to the internet.

A new FS update is live on Steam, and here is the change list.

1) The game now has two modes. Normal mode is pretty much unchanged in terms of difficulty compared to the previous build, except it doesn’t have perma death any more. It means when you die you can resume your game from the last visited location.

The hard mode obviously is much harder, your start the game with the absolutely empty inventory. Your health does not replenish during the sleep. The characters can carry two times less weight. Enemies do not have sight cones in focus hearing.

2) The main quest. The game finally has an objective, you must find spare parts to repair your truck and continue the journey. There are some NPCs which can provide you clues on where the parts could be. All NPCs can be killed, and if you act aggressively they become hostile for the rest of the game. However the quest can be finished even with the NPCs being dead.

When all the parts are collected, you can finish the quest by going to the location with the truck ( shown on the world map as a square with a big truck) and repairing it. There is no ending yet, so you’ll remain in the world no matter what option you choose (continue the journey or stay)

3) Now enemies will aggro on the car and attack it.

4 )We reworked the world generation system that you could leave the car in random locations without losing it.

5) Buildings in the locations “Kommunarov street 46/12” and “Kommunarov street 158” had a few doors that spawned in the walls, it was fixed.

Update [14] 0.2 Build 124

Hey there,

It’s been a really productive but extremely busy month, especially the last week. We have managed to add more than we had planned, unfortunately not without a small delay. The update was supposed to be out yesterday, but during the testing we discovered a very unpleasant bug and decided to move the release on to the next day, which is today.

So the change list

Cars

We've added a drivable car, yes-yes, now you can find a car and drive it in real time and not only on the world map. However bear in mind that not all locations were designed for driving, also right now enemies do NOT react on you, when you in the car. This is not a bug but work in progress. Another very important thing, DO NOT leave the car in the randomly generated location called wilderness, if you run out of fuel and leave it there it will be gone.

The car runs on special fuel which can be found in abandoned cars and garages. However almost every location with buildings has at least one or two fuel cans on it, sometimes they can be hidden. The car has also a roomy boot (trunk) where you can keep a lot of useful stuff and carry it around with you.

Do not forget to turn the engine off leaving the car, otherwise you risk to run out of fuel very quickly. You can switch the headlights on and off by pressing the “F” button.

Intro

Another cool addition is an intro scene that will shed some light on the Frozen State world and the origin of the Hybrids. The subtitles speed was adjusted to our average reading speed, so if you find it too fast or too slow please let us now. You can skip the intro by clicking through it, later we will the option to skip it entirely.

Other Changes

-You can disable the Indie Showcase banner in the game settings

-3 New locations

-New Item - Fuel Can

-Fixed typos and updated the manual

-Initial inventory limit was reduced

-Fixed reduced “damage” after upgrading the Axes


German Localisation

One of the forum members has helped to translate the game into german, and we are super grateful. However we simply didn’t have time to squeeze it into the current build. Besides there are some new parts that require translation like intro and locations, but we hope to put it in the next one.

Indie Showcase

Hi everyone,

Our team have been invited to join a small network of indie developers to help increase the visibility of small independent games like Frozen State. This is a completely gentleman's agreement without any strings attached , so we decided to take part in this initiative and help our fellow developers.

In this build the main menu will contain a tiny banner showcasing our friends’ games. If you click on the banner with the game you liked, its steam store page will appear where you can buy it without leaving the game.

Small Fix [Alpha 0.10, build 105]

Hey again folks,

This a small patch that fixes:

- one of the bugs that was causing infinite loading screen

- bug with roof in the location "Duga city, Kirova Street"

- some bits where text wasn't translated

Update [13] Alpha 0.085 Build 101

Hi all,

New update is on steam and ready to be downloaded.

Some of you already knew that we were working on localisation system which would make possible to support other languages. It wasn’t a trivial task because we had to go through the all line of codes and create links and keys for translation. It’s finally done and works very well you can change languages on the fly without quitting and restarting the game. Currently the game supports two languages English and Russian, but I hope we can expand this list)

If anyone is willing to help us with translation,tomorrow I’m going to put up a thread dedicated for localizations where I put the files and explain how they work.

Another thing that you find in this built is key remapping, of course you could do it before by altering the settings file, but it wasn’t particularly convenient. Now you can bind the keys to your liking from the main menu.

Content wise, I made a new Pharmacy building and a new location with it. The idea behind this is that rare medicine and drugs would have higher spawn rate in pharmacy than in other places. Of course one location is only the beginning and I’m planning to make 4 or 5 of them.

One of the old locations has gotten a sewage sub-level, which can open you accesses to the previously cut off part of the level.

We spent a huge amount of time trying to catch the illusive “loading screen bug”, I know I’ve written many time that it been fixed, but there is a lot of things that may cause it, sometimes even a missing comma in an item description or stats can be a reason. However this is easy to find and fix, but this time it is something and judging by your reports it mostly likely to happen when you return to the starting location. So to trace the real cause, we logged some chunks of the code where it may happen and now if it happened we should know where to dig. So, when you come across this bug, just quit the game and send us your save files (all files in data folder and output log).

Update [12] Alpha 0.084 Build 90

Hi everyone,


In this update we focused mainly on bug fixing but we didn’t forget to add some cool stuff too.

Changes:

-Human survivors and bandits can now use guns, and some of them can be more dangerous than Hybrids

-Some survivors can be friendly to the player

-New items: Hockey Stick, Hockey Knife, Short Spear, Spiked Club

-Hockey knife, Short Spear and Spiked Club can be crafted

-The alien artefacts ( huge levitating obelisks) became interact-able

-“Esc” button closes the inventory window in the main menu it returns you to a previous window

-Two new locations ( Kolkhoz №3 and Kolkhoz №64)

-The amount of generated supplies in the world was reduced

-In the location “The 26th Microraion, South” was a small chance to be trapped in the closed building. It’s been fixed, and the path to the ramp on the ground floor balcony will be always clear

-In some locations after reloading the game, the buildings roofs weren’t transparent, this bug was fixed

-The maximum camera height was increased by 3 metres

-Damage of AK-45 was increased

-Bug affecting the loot drop was fixed. Since now you should be getting more useful stuff from killed hybrids, bandits and survivors

-“Invisible soldier” - was fixed, as well as some bugs with weapon transparency

-Several locations had a bug that could potentially cause “the infinite loading screen” bug [fixed]

-Small bug fixes and improvements

[Hotfix] Aplha 0.083 build 86

Warning!!!! Game braking bug!!!!

Guys we've just came across a game breaking bug that doesn't allow you to live the starting location. We are working on it at the moment, and will be fixed soon!

Update [11] Alpha 0.082 Build 85. It's Linux Time!

Hi there,

We decided not to wait until the end of the month, and release this significant update straight away!

So, today we finally bring Frozen State to Linux machines! Hooray!

We have tested it the latest Ubuntu and it worked good it should also work with other distributives, but we didn’t have a chance to test it, please bear this in mind.

We also fixed some bugs:

-equipping traps in the quick slot made visible a lootable object in the character’s feet

- incorrect trap saving

-not active traps ( happened when you place more than one trap next to each other)

-visible sofa on the first floor in the "The 16th Microraion Buildings 8 and 10" location

-transition between underground location might cause a lighting bug

Also, there was a negative reviewing from a person saying that he had a problem with the “infinite loading bug”. We couldn't replicate it yet, so if anyone comes across it please let us know and do not forget to send us the save.
