Aspect Evolution Update

Hello everyone,

This update brings about the most powerful and diverse mooj evolution yet: Animal aspects. Once you've evolved your Mooj through the first 3 evolutions and fed them a large amount of food, they will reach their 4th and final evolution. This update also brings with it some minor balance changes and bug fixes.

Added the fourth Mooj Evolution: Animal aspects. This final evolution will grant your mooj powerful abilities, as well as matching animal features. There are 6 total aspects to discover:

Ram: The ram aspect's attacks will knock back enemies based on strength. Is also immune to fall damage.

Pig: The pig aspect's powerful sense of smell can sense enemies from farther away, and also allows them to sense and dig up rare truffles. These can be sold for a high price, if your mooj doesn't eat them first.

Demon: The demon aspect has increased attack speed based on percentage missing health. This ability is active if the mooj has lost more than a third of its' max hp

Unicorn: The unicorn aspect has increased attack speed while it's being petted

Spore: The spore aspect attacks slower, but its attacks explode to damage all nearby enemies

Cat: The cat aspect pounces into melee range, dealing increased damage


If you want to know how to get a certain evolution here's how it works: Your Moojs' halo determines which of two aspects it can get. Depending on if the Moojs' light or dark stat is greater determines which of the two it gets.

Cube Halo:
Dark: Ram
Light: Pig

Angelic Halo:
Dark: Demon
Light: Unicorn

Pyramid Halo:
Dark: Spore
Light: Cat

Other Changes:
Mooj will now reach their first evolution faster
You now earn 100 gold for completing the tutorial
Increased the base health of red gremlins from 50 -> 80
The pyramid halo is now properly pyramid shaped, instead of wedge shaped
Changed the way halos in the second Mooj evolution are chosen. They're now based on the primary stat that has gained the most points since the last evolution. If Intelligence is highest the Mooj gets the 'angelic' halo. Agility gets the cube halo, and Strength gets the pyramid.

Bugfixes:
Fixed a bug where throwing a mooj into water would cause them to stay in their thrown state forever and not move until picked up
Fixed a bug where newly evolved halos were not scaled properly
Fixed a bug where closing the game and reloading would reset garden plant growth progress
Fixed a bug where mooj would spawn with the wrong wings in race mode
Fixed a bug where saving/loading the game twice with an empty spot in the food shop would cause an apple pie to spawn in the spot


Now that Mooj have some powerful new abilities, it's time to up the ante. The next update should provide some difficult challenges to overcome...

Summer Campfire Update

Campfire Update


This update introduces a brand new NPC. Pizarro, the travelling merchant. They have a %25 chance of appearing each day.




If you manage to find Pizarro you can purchase one of 9 new hats from their shop. Each garden has 3 unique hats, meaning you'll have to visit each of the 3 gardens if you want all 9.



This update brings the firefly event to the meadow garden. Every 7th night fireflies swarm the meadow and enemies are nowhere to be found.

Take the night off and roast newly added hotdogs, marshmallows and pop corn.

Other Changes:


  • You can now give Rosie any of the 3 garden grown vegetables (carrot, garlic, radish) instead of just radishes to complete the first quest. Some dialogue was altered to reflect this
  • Cooking time for the cooking pot building lowered from 40 seconds to 30

  • Fixed a graphic issue where many hats were not following the mooj they were on properly
  • Fixed a bug where options changed in the main menu were not carrying over into the game
  • Dialogue text scales based on how far away from the camera it is, making its screen size more consistent

June Update Released


Hey everyone,

The June update adds a way to create your own custom races from the main menu, some new statues, as well as some small UI updates.

  • The bars for evolution and hunger are now cleaner looking / higher resolution
  • Added some athletic statues to the realm of competition


  • Merged the "New Game" / "Load Game" buttons into one "Play" button

  • Added free races to the main menu.
    If you ever wanted to have your own Mooj compete against each other,
    now you can race up to 64 Mooj in free races. You choose each racer from all gardens from all saveslots. You can even multiple copies of the same mooj racing at the same time.

    Pressing the 'Race' button in the main menu brings up the race course select menu. You can also change the maximum allowed racers in the top right

    Next, you pick your mooj. To add a racer first click on the mooj on the left, then click 'Add'. Alternatively, just rick click on the mooj you want to add.

    Press 'Start Race' to start, or 'back' to go back.

  • Fixed a bug where enemies spawned in the spooky race didn't have sound
  • Fixed a bug where the 3d preview for the cooking pot was spawning a holding indicator


This will most likely mark the end of racing updates for a while, instead we're going back to garden focused updates again.

One Year of Early Access

Hey everyone,


It's been one year since Garden Of Mooj was released early access. To celebrate the occasion I'd like to highlight some features added and discuss what's to come. This isn't an update patch, that will be coming later this week.

Since the game was first released many things have been added. On release there was only 1 complete garden, a handful of enemies, and your mooj. Since then the twilight cavern and the lost lagoon have
both been added, as well as many enemies, hats, food, buildings, and more.



Over the next 6 months the following features will hopefully be added to the game. None of these are set in stone and are subject to change:


  • A fourth Mooj evolution, granting powerful combat abilities
  • More challenging content suited for the highest evolution of mooj
  • Two more NPCs with quest lines, one for the lagoon and one for the cavern
  • One more garden, which will unlock when all 3 questlines are completed
  • One more race
  • Expanded encyclopedia, with stat information on enemies
  • At least two more buildings
  • A rework of the unlock relics so that they show exact stat requirements
  • And more?


Once these are done there will be a long period of polishing, making sure that the game is perfect. All in all, the game will hopefully be fully released before this time next year. Thank you for being patient so far. Let me know your thoughts on the proposed features and your suggestions.

May Update - Released

Hey everyone

Wow, only 3 days late? The June update might even be on time!

This update adds in Rosie to the meadow garden. They will appear each day (besides the first day after the tutorial) in random locations around the garden.



Rosie has 4 quests, the last of which is a showdown between a new enemy: The dire wolf. These wolves are dangerous enemies, having a lunge attack that stuns mooj, and a bite that can deal over 60 damage.



Rosie holds one of the three keystones needed to unlock the central door. Where are the other 2? What's behind the door? Coming soon.

Added tea seeds, leaves, and the drink. Unlock the seeds by completing the first quest.
Enemies now turn towards there targets over time rather than instantly
Mooj should no longer be able to become grumpy while they are fainted or sleeping
Can now advance through the opening Cutscene and other NPC dialogue by pressing space as well as clicking

Fixed a bug where Mooj could reach negative health values from taking multiple attacks from enemies
Fixed a bug where the building menu button text was displaying 2 words at the same time
Lowered the range at which mooj will continue eating food after starting to eat
Fixed a bug where the two races were sharing the same Race Tiers for each mooj




I hope you are all doing well during these past few months.

Next month will mark the one year anniversary for Garden of Mooj's early access release. While there isn't anything huge ready for next month, there will probably be a roadmap on what is in the works until full release.

Fixed a bug where NPCs were floating at the incorrect height
Fixed a bug where pressing escape in the mooj viewer wouldn't clear the menu mooj
Mooj will no longer gain hunger and eventually become grumpy during a race (for now?)

April Update - Released

Hey everyone,

After a bit of a delay, the April update is here. The Twilight cavern is getting some stylistic changes, a new enemy, and there's a new race in the realm of competition. Also bug fixes.

Remodeled some areas of the cavern garden, added some new ones.

The river in the cavern garden now has a current that will pull mooj/items along with it.

There's a new race in the realm of competition: The spooky race.







Three new hats are available as rewards for the race. This brings the total number of hats in the game up to 9

Added a new enemy: Wisper. These spectral creatures will gang up on isolated mooj, but retreat if there's more than one mooj close by. They have a long attack range and can be deadly to lone mooj. They are found in the Twilight caverns at night and in the new spooky race.

The building purchase menu now has unique icons for every building

The mooj in the mooj viewing menu are now staticly lit. This makes them easier to see in dark areas.
Water will no longer render as pure white in the lowest quality setting
Fixed an issue where mooj were not jumping after attacking an enemy in races
Fixed a bug where closing and reloading a game after winning a race wouldn't save the prize
Fixed a bug where race music wasn't looping

The realm of competition will now save items that are inside it. Specifically after winning a race and receiving a prize, if you leave the item in the realm or save inside of it your items are now saved. Currently you can only bring items out of the realm, you cannot take them in.

April Update - Coming Soon

The April update will be releasing sometime next week. It will include a spooky new race, a new enemy, as well as some changes to the cavern garden. I hope It will be worth the wait.

Post March Quick Fix

Fixed an issue where some currently unused assets would appear after finishing the tutorial

Fixed a bug where tier 3 race Mooj weren't getting the right wing colors

Fixed a bug where you couldn't speak to Bob to open the portal to the realm of competition

Mooj now sleep. Mooj won't be able to fight while sleeping.


Mooj will now become grumpy when they are too hungry, or when they're woken up prematurely



Grumpy Mooj are less effective in combat. decreasing their attack speed

March Update

Hello Everyone, this update puts in some groundwork for NPCs. The tutorial was redone with two characters that introduce the world of Mooj. There is more planned with these NPCs, as well as a mysterious new door.


The tutorial has been reworked, now featuring two new NPCs. If you'd like to try it out you can start a new file.



Added a new door in the Misty Meadow. There is nothing beyond it and opening is currently impossible




  • Heavily Increased the rate in which food reduces hunger in mooj
  • Removed requirement of mooj needing to be above a certain hunger level to eat
  • Speaking with NPCs will cause the camera to move into an optimal position and look at the NPC
  • Added foods: Brown Banana, Tzatziki, Baba Ganoush, Banana Bread, Guacamole, Fruit Salad, Carrot Cake. Most of these are made in the cooking pot
  • Mooj will now enter an altered state after eating certain foods made from the fermenting barrel
  • Enemies no longer drop garden seeds. Instead they’re sold at the meadow shop. One seed will always be available every day in the shop
  • Fixed a bug where the meadow shop blue party hat spawn rate was switched with love yam spawn rate. Party hat is rarer now, love yam more common

Bugfixes and Other


  • All garden crops take 2 nights to grow
  • Mooj are now less talkative on movement (chance to play movement audio clip lowered %70 -> %30)
  • Ancient Relics will no longer show their UI on select, you must now click while they’re selected to show it
  • Mooj will now require slightly more evolution points to evolve. This has a greater impact on earlier evolutions and less on later ones
  • Fixed a bug where saving the game less than 3 seconds after hatching an egg would save both the egg and the mooj
  • Daytime clock will no longer advance while talking to NPCs
  • Fixed a bug where a mooj moving in between the player and an NPC would cancel the dialogue
  • Autosave toggle option will now be saved between sessions
  • Changed egg hatching smoke effects
  • Fixed a bug where buying an egg in the cavern egg shop would display 2 infopanels at the same time
  • Decreased the spawnrate of the falling boulders at the end of the oasis race
  • The petting hand model will no longer lag the game the first time it’s loaded in



I know there have been some issues with save data for some people. If anyone's save data isn't working properly please send me an email with your save data at kcfosf@gmail.com. It would help with finding the issue and possibly I could send back a fixed version of the data. You can find your save data at: C/Users/'YourName'/AppData/LocalLow/Kcfos/GardenOfMooj
