Base Game Update
With the release of Car Junkyard DLC we've also prepared a little update for the base game as well. You can check what's new in the patch notes below.
Color balancing and visual smoothness were improved
Multiple optimizations of the Landscape Material resulting in overall performance improvement especially on an older PCs
Bug related to customers trying to park on a one parking spot was fixed
Also, quick information for all of the Mac users – you can expect a working build in the upcoming days as well. We've run into some issues due to the updated iOS system, but we're working tirelessly to bring you an update as soon as possible.
Everything you need to know about CJ DLC 🧠
For those of you who are still not familiar with the whole concept of the DLC, we’ve prepared a handy cheat sheet for your reference. In short, the DLC is all about renovating some rusty, broken cars, customizing them the way you like, and selling them for a profit. If you’re familiar with a “Pimp My Ride” show back in the days, that’s definitely a great comparison.

Now, after the Junkyard DLC release it’s a perfect time for us to sit down, carefully analyze your feedback and some of the pesky issues that you’ve been experiencing since the release, and prioritize those, who interrupt your gameplay experience the most. We would like to address the topic of issues and bugs in the game.
Some of you have been quite vocal about it and we do agree with you, more needs to be done. It’s something we were well aware of for a long time and did a lot to deal with it, but the problem is always the same: it’s extremely time consuming and difficult to fix bugs that we do not encounter and/or are unable to reproduce.
Here we rely mostly on the saved games sent to us. While in many cases it allows us to find the bug and usually reproduce the situation the player has encountered, analyzing saved games is a lengthy process and does not always end with success. This in turn means bug fixing is going very slowly.
Crash & Bug Reporting Tool
We have recently introduced a crash reporting tool in our studio, and have been improving it since then and we reached a very satisfying state that will be patched into the base game together with a new in-game bug reporting tool shortly after the release of the Car Junkyard DLC. Whenever you report an issue then, we get a pretty precise “where” and “when” in the code of the game, speeding up bug finding immensely. On top of that we will also be able to collect crash and bug report data and have the system show us how often these occur in order to prioritize which ones affect the most players and deal with those issues first.
Gas Station Simulator Team
When it comes to the people working on Gas Station Simulator, there is something you should know: the team is divided into two sub-teams. One creating the paid DLCs and the other handling the base game only - this means updates, bug fixes and free DLCs. Going forward, we are moving some people around to strengthen the base game team, allowing for more developers to work on fixing bugs and issues as well as speed up the implementation of improvements. Having taken so long to implement certain improvements like grid snapping was a bit embarrassing, even we have to admit that.
Gas Station Simulator and Road Diner Simulator
Since we are mentioning teams, Road Diner is not being developed by the Gas Station Simulator team. It has its own development team that while, for obvious reasons, working closely with the GSS team, they are not involved in the base game nor DLCs. So Road Diner’s development is not impacted by whatever is going on in Gas Station Simulator.

The Saga of Sean – The Man, The Myth, The Car Junkyard Legend

We’re back with another riveting devlog, and today we have something special for you. This time, we decided to shake things up a bit. Instead of the usual monologue on my part, we've invited our designer, Gabriel, to talk briefly, and he'll tell you a bit about Sean - one of the most mysterious and intriguing characters ever to appear in Gas Station Simulator.
So who is Sean? Great question. You see, Sean is the guy everyone says can turn a pile of rust into a working car, and he could probably fix your life, too, if you let him (or destroy it just as quickly, knowing his problems with running a business). Born in the back seat of a 1972 Mustang, Sean's story is as colorful as the cars he restores. During the interview, you'll find out exactly what role Sean plays in our addition and what's in store for you about him.
But enough of my ranting; let's get to the meat and potatoes! Sit back and listen a bit about this somewhat sketchy but incredibly talented mechanic who has set up a junkyard in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by rusty cars that, with a little elbow grease, will help bring more than one classic back to life.

As soon as we’re happy with the quality of the product, we’ll release this free DLC. Now, what is this DLC gonna be about?
