Multiplayer Event! (Sunday Aug 7th: 1pm to 4pm Central Time)
Lets try to get a big multiplayer event going this Sunday! Lets do North American Server, and look for room "Multiplayer Event". Lets see if we can fill a whole room with 16 people!
Multiplayer is Now Live! Follow Social Media Channels for Events!
As you might have noticed we have been hard at work implementing multiplayer! This is a large milestone for Glider Sim as it adds a whole new dimension to the game. We are now one step closer towards achieving the dream of soaring the virtual skies with your friends! Which feels awesome... especially when flying in VR!
You can now create a room or join an existing room. Each room has assigned settings to it such as weather conditions, mid-air collisions on / off, and the ability to force off wind and thermal visualization (incase you want to have anti-cheat soaring competitions). Wind and thermal activity is synced over the network! Choose a region closest to you for the fastest ping rate but please know you can still join rooms in other regions. It’s just your connection to the server maybe a tad slower, but still very functional.
Some fun things to try in multiplayer are close proximity speed flying, paramotor flying, soaring thermals together, and ridge surfing! Use the radio voice chat to communicate in a session and organize your flight! Speed flying down steep terrain with a friend is my personal favorites and something I wish to make even better by bringing new maps to the game with steeper terrain. Yes, new maps are coming soon!
I (Joey the main developer) will try to host multiplayer event every weekend or two. I will be posting the multiplayer event details on our social media channels. Update 1.6.7_EarlyAccess - Hotfix Para Controller
-Update Para Controller to use multiplayer radio via “R” keypress or the red button. -Update Para Controller to automatically define a joystick index so it will only receive input from the controller and not other devices. -Update Mouse and Keyboard mode to not have any interference from joystick devices. -Fix possible bug where particles could still be active when forced off. -Adjusted paragliding and mini-wing physics a little.
Update 1.6.6_EarlyAccess - Multiplayer Voice / Radio Chat
-Add radio chat button to all control methods and update UI accordingly. -Press and hold to talk over the radio while in a multiplayer session. -Decrease wind and glider sounds to hear radio more clearly. -Add option to “Force Off Wind and Thermal Visualization” for a multilayer room. -Add option “Enable Mid-Air Collisions” for a multiplayer room. -Make multiplayer names a bit smaller. -Organize wind settings all under 1 tab. -Enable the ability to toggle off/ on wind particles while flying and have the setting save. -Update the way the glider stalls to make landings more realistic. -Make thermal particles a tad bigger and easier to see. -Update turning physics. -Update the speed-wing to be more realistic and easier to control. -Increase brake sensitivity input while flying speed-wing. -UI updates. -Fix some UI buttons not vibrating in VR. -Change the way speedbar input is applied using Xbox or PlayStation controller. -Add Discord button to main menu social media links.
Update 1.6.5_EarlyAccess - Hot Fix
-Accidently disabled wind buttons in free flight so re-enabled them. -Para Controller menu button now working. -Ability to use keyboard keys to increase throttle if Para Controller Throttle slider is not working.
Update 1.6.4_EarlyAccess - More multiplayer updates
-Fix issue with Steam OpenXR loading backscreen on menu. -Add multiplayer notification messages when other players join or leave room. As well as launch a glider. -Spruce up river a little better. -Remove random little house floating near river.
Update 1.6.3_EarlyAccess - Multiplayer!
-Added Multiplayer! -You can now create or join a multiplayer session. -Gliders, wind and thermals are synced over the network. -Game now starts in windowed mode for those having issues with widescreen. -Add Fullscreen option in graphics settings. -Made adjustments to UI so it works in 16:9 ratio. -Add different color schemes to the character and harness. -Randomly select color scheme at start of free flight or multiplier. -Fix cars going in circles. -Make it so in multiplayer mode you can’t pause the glider. -Increase climb rate in paramotor. -Fix variometer on paramotor not showing.
Update 1.6.2_EarlyAccess: Controls Update
-Add Controls settings in Main Menu. -Ability to switch to xbox, playstation or mouse and keyboard while inside of VR. -Ability to activate Harness Pro VR within the control settings menu. Update 1.6.0_EarlyAccess - VR performance Fix
-Some people were were having slow performance with OpenXR so turned off depth submission mode. Hopefully this fixes the issue. -Update menus to have cloud skybox background.
