Gun Bombers

ver. 0.1.8.5 - 2 Fast 2 Endless

A bit of a smaller update this time around brings another Endless mode to play and compete in, a Flamethrower to heat up the cold mines and the ability to change the player's starting health. Sprinkle with some bug fixes and you're good to go!

New

  • Singleplayer mode: Endless 2
  • Primary weapon: Flamethrower
  • Game setting: Player Health (50-250)

Fixes

  • Molotov and urethane throws often fail when hitting walls
  • Endless: Enemy fireball hits mines
  • Endless: Saved quick slots remain when playing again
  • Endless: Enemies venture into lava on some occasions
  • Endless: Can place bombs on top of enemy spawn locations
  • Able to connect to a private game with no IP

ver. 0.1.8.4 - Training Day

We finally have an actual tutorial for the game! This is nothing too exciting for existing players but hopefully new players feel more welcome now. To make up for existing players we've added a friggin' chainsaw! We've also put in "old school controls" for those 2 fanatics who wished to experience the clunky 90 degree movements again. Last but not least we tried to de-uglify the game ever so slightly. Don't worry, it's still plenty ugly but it's the inside that counts, right? Right?

New

  • Single Player mode: Tutorial
  • Primary Weapon: Chainsaw
  • Game setting: Old School Controls

Changes

  • Ice will not break when wearing Ice Cleats
  • Unlimited lives in Sandbox mode
  • Urethane and Plastic Explosives graphic is not so square on outer edges
  • Effects improved for fire, radioactive and poison
  • Added message explaining objective at the start of CTB round

Fixes

  • Enemies target dead clones
  • Endless mode: Clone, duck and mole continued to move when paused
  • Inventory does not refresh (e.g. clips full) when respawned
  • Map does not reveal in team modes after the round ends
  • Leaderboard is not showing after round 1 when playing alone
  • Jackhammer animation does not show when on water

ver. 0.1.8.3 - Size Matters

A popular request since the early days has been having a smaller arena to play in. The standard play area can seem big for the action hungry players or when it's just you and a couple of friends. Fear not as you now have the option to play in a smaller map, ideally suited for 4 players or less but by all means go crazy with more if it's chaos you're after! All current multiplayer modes support the small map size.

A couple of other tasks that have been sitting on my to-do list for a long time have been completed as well. Ice can now break so be careful out there! Fluctuating Market game option on the other hand enables variable Shop prices - Better stock up on those discount Nukes!

Finally there's been a few changes on the Endless mode. Turns out the end-game was pretty much broken and you could go on forever with a certain setup. Thanks to "Teams Medic" who was pushing me to try harder and harder for that leaderboard top spot. I suicided at 43min but have since deleted that score. I'll keep tweaking this mode until we find a nice sweet spot - something that is challenging but fair. Note that leaderboard scores are likely to reset before reaching v1.0.

New

  • Smaller map size available
  • Ice can break on winter map
  • New game setting: Fluctuating Market (Shop prices can go up or down each round)
  • Leaderboards page

Changes

  • Turret and Bazooka shots will fly over mines
  • Removed auto-ready functionality as this caused more confusion than helped
  • Game settings are better grouped now
  • Endless mode: Additional spawn location
  • Endless mode: Spawn locations can be disabled for a short time
  • Endless mode: New enemy type
  • Endless mode: Exploding enemy explodes on contact with bombs and steel blocks
  • Endless mode: Base location randomly closer to the middle of the map

Fixes

  • Fireball enemy was not aiming correctly for all targets
  • Molotov sometimes goofed (fingers crossed this one is finally fixed!)
  • Bullets sometimes end up inside ground (another long time issue, hoping finally fixed as well!)

ver. 0.1.8.2 - Hotfix: Lonely At The Top

I made a small blunder with the previous update regarding the Steam Leaderboards but it should be working as expected now. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Fixes

  • Steam Leaderboards not working for Endless game mode
  • Enemy is shooting player when in Shop (Endless game mode)

ver. 0.1.8.1 - All By Myself

I wasn't sure if there would ever be single player content for this game but I'm glad I decided to do it. As a result we now have the first single player game mode called "Endless". As the name might suggest you fight/defend againts an endless stream of enemies until you are overtaken. There's no winning in this mode but you can reign supreme in the global leaderboards! If you'd like more single player content in Gun Bombers please let your voice be heard.

Additionally we have a new bomb that will make you say holey-mole-y and some guidance to all you wannabe hosts out there!

New

  • Game mode (Single Player): "Endless" with Steam leaderboards
  • Secondary Weapon: Mole
  • Link to a port forwarding guide when hosting a game (under server settings)

ver. 0.1.7.9 - It's Getting Hot In Here

  • Host can Restart the game from anywhere
  • Leaderboard shows scores for players that left the game
  • Bridges and Steel Blocks may be placed faster
  • Plastic Explosive mass destroys Plastic Explosive barrels on contact

Fixes

  • Picking up a loot crate destroys that player's other loot crates for everyone else
  • Copy-pasting long text does strange things to the text fields
  • When a player detonates bombs his Land Mines also explode for other players
  • Can pick up Rocks even though they have been disabled from the game

TDM is here! All the existing game modes are now available to be played in teams (Blue vs. Red). Same rules apply but you ultimately win or lose as a team. To celebrate we have also increased maximum players to 10.

The network port that Gun Bombers uses (55555) has been causing issues with some people as their ISP has restricted access to ports beyond a certain range. For these and other people that wish to have a custom port you may now do so. The new default port has also been changed to 1350.

New

  • Define your custom network port in Settings
  • Shop displays the number of people ready to play

Changes

  • Default port changed from 55555 to 1350 for better compatibility

ver. 0.1.7.6 - Hotfix: Dude, Where's My Uzi?

Turns out there was a pretty serious bug in the latest version due to the new loadout code; If someone joined a game in progress all the players would lose their weapons. Woops!

Fixes

  • Players lose all weapons if someone joins a game in progress
