Hellbound: Survival Mode

😈 Happy 25th, DOOM! 😈

A quarter of a century ago on December 10th of 1993 was released the game that started it all: DOOM 😎

Personally, it's not only a game that blowed up my mind as a gamer, but also the one that made me decide to enter in Game Development πŸ‘

So here's our present to it and to all the DOOM fans around the world, made by our talented teammate Fernando Muzzio πŸ€“

Have a RIP & TEAR week, guys!

Hellgore's origins 😎

How's your weekend doing, guys?! 🀘

Searching the project's content, I found one of the oldest folders we have! It contains the references for the creation of Hellgore, the main character of our adventure 😎

I'm talking about late 2015 (3 years ago). For that moment, here at Saibot Studios we were finishing the horror saga Doorways. So during holidays, I decided to slowly start building the next project...

Since all of us in the dev team were focused in Doorways, I had to look for a new talent who had the vision for this new crazy thing that was in my mind since my childhood and which ended up called Hellbound 😈

So I started googling some references with the style for this grotesque thing and putting them inside this folder πŸ‘

As you can see them below, this were characters from different areas: videogames, movies and comics; but all of them with a word in common: BADASS!

After sending some test to different artists (and with anecdotes in the middle as well), and found Fernando Muzzio. And damn... this guy was perfect for this, he is as crazy and passionate as the rest of us! πŸ€“

I know he will hate me for posting this two images at the end, those were the tests he made for that time. And from there we started creating Hellgore, the rest... is history!

Have a hell of a weekend everybody!

Sci Fi Action MOVIES like VIDEO GAMES πŸ‘Ύ

Hi everybody! How's your weekend doing?

Today we have something pretty interesting to talk about...

We know that, unfortunately, most movies based on video games SUCK!

But at the same time, there're some awesome movies that ARE NOT BASED ON VIDEO GAMES, but that TRULLY FEEL LIKE THEY DO πŸ‘

This happens in multiple genres. But since here we're focused in Classic FPSs, we will talk about the combination of Sci Fi and Action, including MONSTROUS CREATURES and a BAD A** MAIN CHARACTER 😎

So below is my Top 10, sorted by release date.

And each movie here has inspired Hellbound one way or another πŸ€“

Aliens (1986):

Predator (1987):

Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991):

Starship Troopers (1997):

The Matrix (1999):

The Chronicles of Riddick (2004):

Pandorum (2009):

Elysium (2013):

Edge of Tomorrow (2014):

Mad Max: Fury Road (2015):

What do you guys think? Should we add any other title?

Have a great weekend everybody!

Tobias and the team at Saibot Studios

The origin of the Survival Mode 🧐

Hellish weekend everybody! How are you doing? 😈

Today we want to share with you some interesting facts about the Survival Mode of Hellbound.

The thing is that the island for the game was actually going to be a lot bigger than the one you already know. It was supposed to have multiple sectors and obstacles

Here you can see some of the old sketches made by our talented teamate Viktor Ahmed:

But after some tests and because we run out of resources, we decided to simplify it 🀯

And I'm sure we must have an old (and nasty) playable version of this island somewhere...

Cheers from the team at Saibot Studios!

Tobias Rusjan

Strafe Jumping? 😎

What do you guys think? Should we add Strafe Jumping to Hellbound?

We're talking about the chance to get even faster using specific combinations of jump and turning techniques, which were most used in the Quake series (along others as well) πŸ‘

It maybe doesn't make too much sence here in the Survival Mode, since it's just a small island; but it will in the Campaign, since the maps are going to be much larger πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ

Let us know, have a hell of a weekend!
