Yesterday I've uploaded a new update for Hero's Story Early Access. It includes a completely reworked Temple location, a new type of enemy and a second boss - Spider Queen! Some inventory system problems and too dark shadows in some of the game levels have also been fixed. I hope you will like this update! The full list of changes can be found below.
Additions
New boss: Spider Queen
New location: Temple of Dragons
New enemy type: Sea Giant
New status effect: Poison
New item: Antidote
New item: Heart of the Sea
Balance
The amount of time during which a Necromancer can lose sight of a player character increased
Increased the number of items in chests and in game levels
Bugfixes
Fixed a critical bug when picked up items disappeared from inventory after loading the game
Fixed a graphical bug when the shadows in the game were too dark
Minor inventory fixes
Known issues
Quicksave/quickload may sometimes cause ingame bugs
Now let's take a closer look at some points.
Temple of Dragons
Once - thriving temple complex of a mysterious ancient empire, now lies in ruins. The dragons left this place long ago, and now only the ghosts of the royal army, wild goblins and mysterious giants from the depths of the sea guard this cursed place! Entrance to the temple is possible through the portal in north-eastern part of Expanse.
Sea Giants
Mighty giants come together in the battle with dragons many centuries ago. Giants won, but the holy city was destroyed and almost completely flooded. Since then, many giants have returned home to the depths of the sea, but some have remained - lost, broken and deprived of magical powers...
New boss
Spider queen Isel was forced to leave her home and settled in the ancient ruins of Dragon City. Many warriors tried to gain fame and defeat the mighty beast, but no one succeeded. Isel's glands are soaked with poison, and during the battle she is overcome with primal rage! Wild goblins revere Isel as a local deity.
Have fun! Your Silent.
Beta Update #10
Hello, heroes!
Yesterday, another update was uploaded for Hero's Story Early Access. The development and release of this update were fraught with various difficulties, so the release date turned out to be later than planned, and the content of the update was changed. Nevertheless, there are a number of positive changes in the new update - a reduced size of the game client, new items, loot from monsters, a convenient inventory system and more. The full list of changes can be found below as usual!
General
Game version was updated to 1.0.8
Now there always will be some treasure inside Golden Chest
Additions
Added new inventory system (I key) with ability to pick up, use and drop different items
Added loot from defeated monsters
Added 15+ new items
Added new hints to the loading screen
Optimization
The size of the game files has been reduced by 50% - the game now takes up about 10 GB of hard disk space (no content has been cut)
System requirements of the game have been updated according to this
Bugfixes
Fixed a bug where players also received gold coins for picking up flowers and some other items
Particles that attract the attention of players will no longer emit from already opened chests
Minor fixes
Known issues
Some items disappear from the inventory after loading the game
Now let's take a closer look at some points.
Inventory system
From the very beginning of development of the game, I planned to add an inventory system to Hero's Story. Inventory is important part of any RPG, and in the future I plan to expand and improve this system, including, for example, quick slots and character equipment.
New items
Update 1.0.8 added over 15 new items, including elixirs, alchemy ingredients, old books, future quest items and more. Some of these items can only be sold or dropped, but some can be used to get various effects!
Temple of Dragons
The updated location, which was disabled in the last update, is still closed for visiting by brave heroes because of technical reasons, but it will definitely be opened in the next hotfix! New enemies, new puzzles and a new mystical boss are waiting for you in the Temple of Dragons!
I strongly encourage you to leave your feedback and bug reports in game discussions.
Have fun! Your Silent.

Beta Update #9
Hello, heroes!
First of all, I want to congratulate everyone on the 2 year anniversary of the release of the Hero's Story game on Steam Early Access! Yesterday I uploaded a new update, which includes new enemies, some bugfixes and completely revamped settings section. The full list of changes can be found below.
General
Players will now be prompted to confirm to delete the save
Now the corpse of a Zombie will not disappear immediately after death
Now players will be able to change mouse sensitivity in the game settings
Now all keyboard shortcuts are listed in controls settings
At the request of the players, rain effect has been changed (improved)
'The Temple' location is temporarily disabled for a complete overhaul
Additions
Settings window has been completely revamped
Added a new enemy type: Wild Goblins
Added a new status effect: Bleeding
Added additional hints on the loading screen
Added additional light sources in The Mines
Zombie model was updated
Improved (fixed) the appearance of Goblins
Bugfixes
Fixed a critical bug when character's health could take negative values
Fixed a bug when grass in the Expanse did not sway in the wind properly
Fixed a bug when time flowed too fast in the Expanse
Fixed a bug when the weather in the Expanse changed too quickly
Fixed a small bug when the Outlaws didn't play running animation in time
Fixed some bugs that occured after game load
Minor fixes
Now let's take a closer look at some points.
Updated Settings
I have been planning to put the settings window in order for a long time, and finally I have. Now the sections fit correctly on the screen, nothing 'jumps' or glitches, all of the items are clearly distinguishable. Among other things, the ability to change mouse sensitivity and additional screen resolutions in the Graphics section were added to the settings.
New enemies
Wild goblins were originally planned in the game, but due to problems with animation, were presented with only their friendly species in the game. Wild goblins are the fastest enemies in the game at the moment. Alone they are weak, but you will most likely never meet them alone.
Status effects
In the new update, Zombies gained ability with some chance to cause bleeding on our hero. This status effect, like burning, takes away a certain amount of health points for a short time. Also in the game there are effects of freezing, which reduces movement speed of the character, underwater breathing, which reduces the recovery of stamina, poison, similar to burning and bleeding, but requiring an antidote, and fear, which interferes with character's control.
I strongly encourage you to leave your feedback and bug reports in game discussions.

Hero's Story Dev Blog #7
Greetings, Heroes.
A lot of water has flowed since the release of the latest "Developer Diaries", and today I would like to tell you a little about the updates that have been released during this time! Or rather, about how these updates were created.
One of the important areas of development was updating the first levels of the game - for this I had to completely redo them using new assets. As a result, the beginning of the game has become brighter, more spacious and understandable to players. At the same time, I learned how to better adjust lighting and optimize closed levels by using meshes!
Not without new locations and enemies. Many enemies in the Hero's Story game are humanoids of one kind or another, so it turned out to be very useful for them to "transfer" animations from one skeleton to another, when you can reuse the same set of movements! It saved me a lot of time while adding new NPCs.
Speaking of new locations, a second open area has been added over the past time - an Endless Desert. I can't say that I have included everything I originally planned in it, but I plan to add more content as updates are released. What worries me a little is that I have not mastered level streaming, so I have to impose certain restrictions for optimization - for example, reduce the number of game objects on the level.
In the future, the game will have even more enemies, items, levels and bosses. Somewhere I will use (or already use) the work of previous years, somewhere I buy the necessary materials, and something I do myself, but in any case, I do it with my soul! In the new update, for example, the attackable goblins will appear in the game, which were originally planned to be like this.
I could have talked for a long time about the dialogue trees, about the fact that the first boss was supposed to be the Spider Queen, and not the Necromancer, about the fact that I never had time to finish the traps and ladders in current version, but the main thing, as I believe, is that Hero's Story is evolving and does not stand still, and all thanks to your continuous support!
And the next Early Access update is scheduled for release on 21st of October!
Be strong, take care. Sincerely, Silentplaygames.
5th of September Hotfix
Greetings, Heroes!
Honestly - there are quite a lot of bugs in the Hero's Story. Some of them appear after updates, some just go unnoticed for a long time. However, sooner or later I fix them, and today is just one of those days!
5th of September Hotfix
Now the Necromancer and his minions will notice our hero easier
Now the characters of all classes will not recover their stamina underwater, instead, different amounts of it will be spent

Fixed a critical bug when the Rogue regenerated magic energy much faster than expected
Fixed a bug when after loading, the defeated Rakshasas continued to play the death animation
Fixed a bug when the Necromancer did not respawn, and players could get stuck in the Great Tomb
Fixed a bug when the Ghosts of Shasaf made skeleton sounds when dying
Fixed a bug when defeated enemies continued to move around the level
Minor fixes
Thank you for your attention and enjoy the game! Sincerely Yours, Silentplaygames.

As usual, before we dwell on each significant point in more detail, I would like you to read a short list of changes.

Optimization

Bugfixes

Fixed a bug, which allowed to get out of bounds in the Endless Desert
Fixed a bug, when it was impossible to search one of the hidden chests in the Expanse
Fixed a bug, when it was impossible to search one of the chests in Endless Desert
Fixed a bug, when sand footsteps were not playing properly
Multiple fixes of the first levels of the game
Minor fixes
*in the updated form - Lesser Heal (H) restores less health, and a Fireball (F) requires more magical energy expenditure
**for example, a Lesser Heal restores more health (20% for 20 mana vs. 10% for 20 mana for other classes), and a Fireball spends less energy (50 vs. 100 for other classes)
Now let's take a closer look at some points.
Great Tomb
The new location of Hero's Story is located in the very south of the Endless Desert, behind the Oasis. Like the Crypt, the Tomb is a combat location, and in it you will have to meet a lot of enemies. Ask the characters who are in the Endless Desert - perhaps they will be able to tell you more! The Tomb of the Damned serves as a haven for the dark Necromancer and his hordes of the undead. They say that during his lifetime Andros was a powerful sorcerer, so even the spirits of the deserts - Rakshasas - guard his peace.
New enemies
The Tomb of the Damned is the only (so far) haven of Mummies and Skeletal Warriors. Mummies are extremely slow, but also extremely tenacious enemies, dangerous in large numbers. Skeletal Warriors are armed with iron swords and wooden shields, thanks to this, Skeletal Warriors are better protected, and cause more damage than ordinary Skeletons. Also, you will now more often encounter Skeletons-Mages - quite dangerous enemies, with whom it is better to immediately reduce the distance (or avoid meeting them at all).
First boss
The necromancer Andros was a powerful wizard of Angalar during his lifetime. One day he went to explore the ancient teandrian ruins and did not return. Now he is dragging out a miserable existence as a walking corpse, but you can help him find a well-deserved rest! Together with Andros, his loyal warriors and adventurers who went with them are buried in the tomb. In battle, the Necromancer can summon skeletal servants. To win, you need to actively move around the arena, use the spells that have returned to the game and take care of the servants of Andros in a timely manner!
I strongly encourage you to leave your feedback and bug reports in game discussions.
Have fun! Your Silent.
