Patch notes 30 October 2020

Today we uploaded a big patch. It fixed some pretty large bugs and made some significant changes. Unfortunately it also left a couple of things half done and we're going to fix those as soon as possible. Here are the details:

  • Ever since day 1, there has been a problem with the compiled materials on the landscapes. The game would be unable to find the compiled materials and would recompile them every time the game loaded a new landscape material. That is a big part of why loading the game and teleporting to new world map levels took so long. We have fixed this issue, and now the game should load and change levels much, much faster.
  • Added epilogue. This is still under construction, with more changes coming, but we now have an epilogue after the final battle. The epilogue shows locations from throughout the game, which meant loading several landscapes. Due to the problem mentioned above, the epilogue was taking an extremely long time to load, and we finally had to address the issue head-on.
  • The above change also required us to change the look of the landscapes. This means that they no longer match the mountains on the world map, which are made from static meshes instead of landscapes. We are going to continue working on the materials on both the landscapes and the mountain meshes to give all of them a consistent look.
  • Fixed cutscene upon entering Weeping God's tomb that had been inadvertently removed.
  • Added music change to battle at the wall in front of the Empire's Graveyard
  • Changed size of ogre and demon lord attack particle effects, which had been slightly too large and were getting cut off at the bottom where they clipped into the ground.
  • Localization updates

This patch does introduce a few things that we will need to fix. But it fixed some other, bigger issues that we wanted to resolve right away. Thanks for your patience while we work it all out.

Patch notes 20 October 2020

Today's patch added the following:

  • New scripted events during final battle, with dialog, dynamically added enemies, and boss stages

Patch notes 18 October 2020

Today's patch added the following:

  • Changed ogre brutes and demon lords to target the strongest enemy instead of the closest. This allows them to deal frightening amounts of damage without being too deadly.
  • Added unique portrait, character class, and weapon to the final boss. Character class has a unique attack with particle and sound effects.
  • Simplified functionality for spawning enemy lances containing specific characters. This will simplify some of the upcoming changes to the final battle.

Patch notes 13 October 2020

Some small patches the last couple of days changed the following:

  • Fixed a bug where you can collect multiple keys from the Candle and Sword barracks in Sunrise Falls Outpost by entering and exiting the room several times before opening the treasure chest
  • Changed the enemy leader at Anvil Gate Outpost from the random blue guy to the new Demon Lord
  • Changed imp sprite sheet color to match other demons, instead of being an odd magenta tint
  • Fixed tier-6 male knight armor sprite sheet, which had holes in the cape when viewed from the side
  • Added sprites for final boss, with unique armor and helmet

Today's patch added the following:

  • Added ogre mages to the game, along with new attack, particle effect, sound effect, and weapon. They are now integrated into goblin armies that have ogres.

Patch notes 29 September 2020

A patch today, and another a few days ago, added the following:

  • Fixed normals on the brick bases of Japanese-style buildings
  • Added assets for new Demon Lord enemy, including sprite sheet, portrait, and armor sprite sheet
  • Modified Ogre sprite sheet, along with weapon and armor sprites. It just looks better now, and it is closer to the Demon Lord sprite sheet for easier future modifying of armor/weapon sprites to be used by both Ogres and Demon Lords.
