We have added support for different texture quality video settings for different range of PCs.
In its current default setting Game memory usage has been reduced significantly (~25%) and should help overall game load time and performance for all but especially low/Medium range PCs. Low and High quality options will be made available in the next update.

* Fixed an issue where sharing intelligence (treaty) could cause a crash

Hotfix - Loading games

Beta 2 Hotfix (version 4.60) and Minor Update (version 4.61)
We have pushed an update to resolve the issue with the game crashing on start-up for some players after yesterday's big update.
The issue stemmed from a late minute optimization that did not play nice with some PCs (most specifically on Windows 8), we have temporarily disabled it until we test it further. Sorry for the inconvenience this caused you.
We hope you will be able to enjoy the game now and please let us know if you experience any further issues.
----
Minor update since this morning to new version 4.61
Minor update:
* Re-enabled optimizations that were temporarily disabled this morning
* On main menu - 'Continue Game' will now be disabled if autosave is from versions 4.54-4.58 saved games (as they are incompatible and would crash otherwise)
* On new Planet List - resources will now check if they were surveyed otherwise it will show 'survey required'

Race customization and other playable races
Hello everyone,
We are excited to bring you a first view of what we have been working on since the initial Beta version 2 months ago.
We always planned to have full race customization in Horizon but we are also going a little further by providing you the option to play as one of seven other unique races in the game for a total of 8 playable races.
Much of it is already functional but we won't be patching it live yet, as we continue to work on it and test it thoroughly.
Instead we have once more created a test branch for those who want to try out this version and/or provide feedback.
You can simply opt-in to try this more advanced version of Horizon and you can always opt-out to revert back to the live stable version with a few clicks.
Here are the steps to opt-in (opt-out is similar):
- From your Steam app. games library list
- Right-click on Horizon and select properties
- Select the Beta tab and choose 'Beta - Test Branch' from the drop down
For the full changelog you can read it in the In-Testing section or on the Horizon official forums:
