Update 0.2.4 Patch Notes

Net-code rework.


We just finished a massive update to the game's net-code, improving stability when playing with other players from other countries. It also improves how the game handles AI like Gourd, Cops, and the Harbinger.

New Cast Member!


Security Shawn.
Armed with a Stun Gun. Security Shawn is great for stopping a Legend in his tracks mid chase. In-force those curfews people!

Stun Gun.
This medium range non-lethal pistol is perfect for zapping away a Legend’s stamina to make a quick escape!

A sharp bladed weapon that can cut through Gourds like butter.


Map Updates.


Dream Realm:

  • Now has less dead ends and more breaching paths.
  • Added rafters to the platforming room.


Farmhouse:
  • Improved Punkie Jack-O-Lantern spawns.
  • More random Ammo spawns.
  • Updated Navmesh so AI's don't walk through Hay bales.


Cabin:
  • A slightly increased the ambient light.

Characters
  • Angela Crass's crouch movement speed has been moderately increased..
  • Angela Crass's walking footstep volume have been moderately lowered.
  • Stevie Lint's run speed has been slightly reduced.
  • Punkie's Crouch Speed has been increased.
  • Killer Keith's HP has been increased by 50 points.
  • Killer Keith's Walk speed has been slightly reduced.
  • Killer Keith's Toxic Chemicals now do more damage and now last a lot longer.
  • Killer Keith's Rebar now goes farther and does more damage.
  • Killer Keith's Rebar draw speed had been lowered.
  • Killer Keith's Rebar reload speed has been drastically increased.
  • Human Punkie’s Regen now regens 50 Stamina with an additional 10 HP for 5 seconds.
  • Human Punkie’s Regen charges have been reduced to 20 from 30.
  • Legend’s Nightvision’s range has been drastically reduced.


Items
  • Shotgun's max clip size has been reduced to 4.
  • Beer now slowly reduces stamina for 7 seconds after you drink it.


Objectives
  • Glyph Sound radius has been reduced by 50%.


Bug Fixes
  • Nick Scab's reveal outline now outlines his entire body.
  • Objective sounds should no longer play when game loads.
  • Consumable items like Beer and Candy can no longer be dropped when they are empty.
  • Auto Respawn is no longer interrupted by chat.
  • Fixed Melee weapon charging animation bug.
  • Night Vision will no longer turn on when using chat.

New Map - Dream Realm


Enter the surreal mindscape of a madman and survive your worst nightmare. Featuring a brand new score from Spectral Fields.





New Features



  • Specter Players will now be shown as Dead in the Tab Screen.
  • Beer will now drop empty cans every time you use them.
  • Auto-Ready timer as been added.
  • Specters can now shoot and kill each other. Ghost Deathmatch!
  • AI Gourds will now follow the Gourd Legend. Lead them to those pesky Cast Members.


Balance Changes



  • Punkie’s ranged attack now does poison damage (damage over time) and has a fancy cross hair when you zoom in.
  • Candy - CryptiCoCo's will now heal 1 HP for 10 seconds.
  • Increased Killer Keith's Chemicals's area of effect size and it also will reveal Cast players when they enter it.
  • Flashlights now have a wider light radius.


Bug Fixes



  • Full Screen Bug: The game will no longer go to windowed mode when you start a new match.
  • Aim Sensitivity Bug: Now your aim sensitivity will correctly apply to all weapons types.
  • Specters will now die if they go out of bounds.
  • Fixed numerous areas where players were getting stuck while crouched.

Update 0.2.2 Patch Notes



New Legend: Killer Keith



A slow but powerful Legend that leverages stealth to close in on his victims. Killer Keith has rapid health regeneration, so you’ll need to call the cops or gang up if you want to kill him. One on One fights are suicide. Although slow, Killer Keith doesn’t use stamina while power walking. However the Cast can still exhaust him with stamina damage to slow him down to base walking speed.

Abilities


  • Combat Knife: Primary Attack is pretty basic, but a fully charged Secondary Attack will not only severely damage a Cast Member, but reveal them for a substantial amount of time.
  • Rebar: If you have trouble closing in you can throw a very large piece of Rebar at fleeing Cast Members.
  • Chemicals: Create gas clouds in the map that drain Cast health and Stamina if they enter. Great for creating choke points.


Specters and Killer Keith’s Post Game: If you are killed by Killer Keith you will become a ghostly Specter. While you can no longer interact with living players you can shorten the game’s timer by activating randomly spawned spirit energy. Doing so will help the Cast chances to escape and give you a generous XP boost. You can also haunt the map by destroying lights, windows, and opening and closing doors.



New Objective



Call the Cops. You can now call the cops if you find a randomly spawned radio in the map. The radio is attached to a dead police office most likely an early victim of the Legend. Make the call and AI Cops will enter the map to help you face the Legend. If the Legend takes damage from the Cops, it will be revealed to the Cast for a short amount of time. This is your chance to attack if you are trying to kill it.


Cast Updates



Inventory: The Cast now have various inventory slots available to them depending on which one you are playing as. For example Stevie Lint has 4 inventory slots available to him while Ryan only has two. You can see your inventory on the bottom of the screen. Use the number keys to switch between them. This also applies to Legend abilities as well.


Consumables: Candy and Beer will now be removed from your inventory when you run out of charges.

Third-person: Cast are now able to use a third person camera! Great for peeking around corners...

New NPCs



Black Cat: Watch your step, you may cross paths with a black cat. If you do it hiss at you revealing you to the Legend for a short amount of time.


Harbinger: A stranger wanders the maps of Horror Legends. If he finds you he may give you a consumable item after warning you of the horrors that await you.


Cops: If called, these boys in blue will report to the closest Cast member and act as a bodyguard. Again, if they successfully attack the Legend it will be revealed to you for a short amount of time.


Mechanics / Features



3D Voice Chat: Voice chat now works in Horror Legends. However you can only hear who ever is nearby. Great for eavesdropping!

Reveal Icon: This will appear accompanied right above your health to let you know that you can be seen by the other team. If you see this don’t try to hide, RUN! (Note: AI Gourd are drawn to Revealed players.)

Stamina Update: Exhausting Stamina will now trigger a taunt for the Cast. Legend Exhaust sounds are more noticeable. Listen for the queues so you know when its time to run away!

Nightvision: Legends can now see in the dark by pressing V. Each Legends have different strengths of Night Vision for balance. Happy hunting.

  • All Vegetation have improved graphics and performance.
  • Maps have new lighting to improve the atmosphere and spook factor. Use your Flashlights and Night Vision!
  • New creepy background music for the Cabin by Spectral Fields.
  • Drastically increased item spawns.
  • Hedge Maze map starts with the lights off.
  • Improved Cabin’s fireplace particle effects and lighting.
  • Improved Glyph spawn points.

After this update we plan of focusing more on content rather than features. So expect more maps, items, and characters in the next month or so. I planned to create a Game Guide for all the new features but ran out of time. For now, I hope these patch notes will suffice until I can make a proper in game guide. However it is now time for me to prepare for my wedding and pack from my honeymoon! Before I go I just want to say thanks again for all your support. Version 0.2.1 Update!

Game Logic Rework



The game logic has been completely redone which means no more random Legend selecting, getting a head start on the Legend before selected, and map voting. Instead we have the following.

PreGame (Before Player limit is reached)

  • You can now fight AI Gourds while waiting for players to join. AI Gourds reward the player with 50 XP if killed.

Legend Queue

  • Once the required Player limit has been met the game will load the Legend Queue.
  • The Legend Queue will select a Legend based on the order the players joined the server.
  • Players can pass their turn as the Legend during the Legend Queue if the want.
  • Once the Legend has been picked Legend Player chooses the map.

Main Game

  • Both Cast and Legend have a Character Select Screen.
  • Game won't start until all players are ready.

EndGame
<*> Once the Main Game is over the game load the Legend Queue again and next Player in line becomes the Legend and chooses the map. They can pass their turn if they want.


Cast Objective


Escape Sigil

  • Find randomly spawned Glyph in the Map that starts the timer.
  • Cast now have to survive the duration of the timer.
  • When the Timer runs out a random Sigil will spawn and be revealed to the Cast.
  • All remaining Cast are revealed to the legend.
  • All remaining Cast must enter the Sigil to escape

New Cast Member: Sheriff Russell.


Sheriff John Russell has been the local town Sheriff of Hudson Meadows for the past 20 years. He is known as one of the men that shot and “killed” William Punkie, ending his killing spree on Halloween night 12 years ago. He is an honorable family man, a good cop, and loved by the community.

A high powered long range weapon with a slow firing rate.


New Legend: Punkie (Human)

As a Human, Punkie relied on his speed and stealth to get the drop on his victims. If killed, Human Punkie will not respawn.

Long Scythe
A long ranged melee weapon; when charged for 4 seconds it can deal 85 damage.

Abilities

Regeneration
If mortally wounded, Human Punkie can retreat to regenerate his health by using his second ability (Press 2 then the Right Mouse Button). Each action will regenerate 35 Heath. There is a finite amount of energy so use it wisely.

Ambush
Holding the the Left Mouse Button will prepare Human Punkie’s Ambush attack. Landing a hit will instantly deplete any Cast Members’ stamina leaving them vulnerable to your attacks.

Killing a Cast member will force them to become your Gourd minion.
