Weekly Dev Update [15.08.2017] - Week 17

Vacations over, more Hospitalize!



Summer is nearing its end, holidays are over and it's time to focus on going forward!

The content of the experimental branch is getting ready. We will initially work to get this in place. Bugs will be removed and the content balanced and polished. Milestones work well and we have received good feedback, but more variation and customization is needed before the complete feature is done. Pathfinding has been completely replaced and has become much better. We have received a lot of feedback with bugged savegames. Efforts to correct these errors have begun.

Furthermore, we will begin the work with departments. This will give players completely new challenges, and it will be even more important to think about how to build their hospital. An effective flow of patients through the hospital will give positive results, while ineffectiveness will be devastating to the hospital. Which is why we're also including schedules and day/night cycles into this update, making the game a lot more "real". Departments will of course be the entrance to multiple content upgrades with different themes. We are starting with the administration department, for which artwork is already in production!

This summer, plans for endgame started to take shape and we will work on it later this year. We can't tell too much, as it is still very fresh; But the idea is that the player will be able to bring the result or product from his hospital to a new level in the game and strengthen his position here by building new, better and more hospitals!

Weekly Dev Update [16.07.2017] - Week 16

A bit *caugh* delayed, but worth it!




A little bit slow of a week. We launched an update featuring some bugfixes and optimalization and have been following the forums and bug reports closely like always. An update featuring more fixes is in the works for some time this week. As summer is upon us, it is time for us to take a little bit of a vacation. We'll always be available and will probably cram in a little work here and there, but expect a little slower time going forward and into the next week.

But before that! We have some news regarding the 'Experiemental Branch'.

By the end of tomorrow, we will have launched a separate subforum here on Steam which will be dedicated to the experimental branch. There will be some guidelines, and a thread featuring changelogs regarding the updates that hits the branch. This forum will also be a place where people who decide to play there can post issues regarding only the experimental branch, so that it's easier for us to seperate problems between the main branch and the experimental one.

Keep in mind that this forum will contain spoilers regarding upcoming updates, as that is what the experimental branch is for. So for those of you who do not wish to participate, we'd suggest not going there if you don't want information about the newest updates spoiled to you :]

It's gonna be real exciting! We're looking forward to it. Oh and, you can expect brand new stuff coming to the experimental branch some time this week. Should be awesome! We'll see you then!

HOSPITALIZE v0.11.4.0

Patch featuring small tweaks and bugfixes!

Bugfixes

  • Fixed a bug which caused the patient list to refer to the wrong character.
  • Fixed a bug which caused patients to suddenly teleport across the map. (That's right.. Teleport)
  • Fixed a bug which caused the 'Blood Analysis at Ward' to halt the game.
  • Fixed a bug which caused 'Physiotherapy' patients to not heal.
  • Fixed 'Shoulder' typos.
  • Fixed 'Unconscious' typos.


Changes:

  • Improved character running mechanics.
  • Improved the deconstruct area tool to detect more objects in the grid.
  • Imporved pathfinding mechanics for moving off of objects.
  • Modified the position of the chair.
  • Changed the size of the profession dropdown menu in the employee window.
  • Changed the scroll speed of the profession list in the employee window.
  • Patients will now seek out their own bed when hospitalized.

Weekly Dev Update [09.07.2017] - Week 15

New weekly update!




Thank you everyone for every nice and new feedback! It means a lot to us and really helps taking the development in the right direction.

We've noticed that many of you would like a more stable version of the game and some wants more experimental versions featuring new things. We have launched an experimental version before and will do so again as we think it's very crucial that everyone who wants to can hop in and test new features immidiately if they wish, as well as having the option to jump into a properly stable version. Last time we launched the experimental version we had tons of amazing feedback and helped tremendously towards releasing to the stable version.

We have much more content planned for the game, but it is also important to have a natural progression. In order for not all content to become "overwhelming" in the beginning, we will introduce a system that unlocks parts of the game along the way. Initially, one will relate to few diagnoses, rooms and other game features, but will unlock more through completing certain goals or what we like to call "Milestones".

As always, bug reports sent in through the in-game 'Bug report' tool are extremely helpful and really is one of our strongest weapons against bugs. All bug reporting and suggestions are very much appreciated. Fixing bugs and optimalizing is still number one priority and will continue to be the main focus.

HOSPITALIZE v0.11.3.0

Quick little update with some fixes and optimalization.

Bugfixes:

  • Fixed an issue where the game would not start when played on a different monitor.
  • Fixed a bug in the transportation mechanics.
  • Fixed a bug which caused the UI scaler to not load properly.
  • Fixed a bug in the 'Buy food' routine.
  • Fixed the typo for the symptom 'Dyspnea'.
  • Fixed an issue with the 'Urinalysis' task.


Changes:

  • Changing topics in the handbook will now move the window infront of other windows.
  • Improved mechanics to avoid there being multiple activities in a same room at the same time.


New additions:

  • Added a notification when a task is missing an employee. (I.e. Missing 'Laboratorian' for 'Blood Analysis')

Greetings everyone!



Here's an update featuring performance related issues as well as some bugfixes. We're also combining this weeks dev update with these patchnotes, so there will be some additional info at the bottom.

Bugfixes:

  • Fixed a bug which caused paramedics to get stuck.
  • Fixed a bug which caused caretakers to get stuck.
  • Fixed a bug which caused characters to get stuck in the toilet.
  • Fixed a bug which caused the ambulance to crash the game.
  • Fixed a bug in the GUI which caused procedure policies to not scale with game settings.
  • Fixed a bug related to construction crates.
  • Fixed a bug which caused performance issues while moving the hospital settings window.
  • Fixed a bug which caused the game to crash on exiting.
  • Multiple minor fixes to patient activities.


Changes:

  • Performance update to sprites.
  • The player defined keys for moving the camera now cancels following on any character.
  • The construction window will now instantly update the amount of stored items.
  • Emergency Consultation should now only use defibrillation when necessary.
  • Beds should not block hallways anymore.
  • Nurse positioning on a counter facing north has been modified.


We've also done several upgrades to the mechanics controlling character activities. These upgrades will help us diagnoes errors and should counter many of the bugs causing the game to crash.

Also, as always, a huge thank you to everyone using the report bug tool as well as reporting issues here on the forums, it's always a great, great help!

Weekly Dev Update [18.06.2017] - Week 13

Info, info... info!



Seeing as we released patch 0.11 last Sunday, we saw it fit to just skip the devblog for that week, sorry if this disappointed any of you!

First of all we'd like to thank everyone, as always, for sending in bug reports, savegames and log files, as well as participating in the forums. It always helps a great, great deal.

Much of this week was spent trying to fix the problems that arose together with the newest patch. This is continuing over the next week as well seeing as there are more work to be done before getting a stable game.

Other than that we'd like to remind that the roadmap has been freshed up a bit! You can take a look at it here.

Modding is one of the headlines in focus. That is, we work continually to improve game modding functionality, but it will not be available yet. All vanilla content in the game is built off of XML files (Objects, characters and activities/tasks). We have started on a wiki page that becomes available when we choose to publish modding functionality, but as you probably agree, the game must become more stable first.

HOSPITALIZE v0.11.1.1

Thank you so much to everyone sending in bug reports and savegames, as well as participating in the forums! It helps out a ton!

In case of old savegames, it might be required to save & load the game again after the patch for the fixes to take effect.

This patch is quite technical, but we've broken it down:



Bugfixes:

  • Fixed multiple bugs related to the 'General Ward'.
  • Fixed a bug which caused the game to stop when a patient died without having the mortuary built.
  • Fixed a bug in the tooltips.
  • Fixed a bug which caused contruction to crash the game.
  • Fixed a bug in the AI which caused the game to glitch out when a patient hit below 5 condition. (Hitting below 5 condition causes the patient to "pass out" and needs immidiate help from a doctor.)
  • Fixed a bug with the 'Ambulances' when the 'Paramedic' is missing.
  • Fixed an issue in the item popup screen.
  • Fixed an issue which caused patients with under 40 condition to get stuck.
  • Fixed an issue where multiple identical tasks would crash the game.
  • Fixed an issue which caused the game to crash on exit.
  • Fixed a bug in the 'Consultation' procedure.
  • Fixed a bug in the 'Emergency consultation' procedure.
  • Fixed a bug which caused the game to crash when characters tried to sit down on missing chairs.
  • Fixed a bug which caused the game to crash while transporting patients.
  • Fixed a bug which caused doctors to have consultations with patients in the mortuary freezer. (Yup.. this actually happened)
  • Fixes with 'on-room-usage' text in the room panel.
  • Fixes to multiple minor issues++


Changes:

  • Adjusted parameters of the 'Stroke' illness.
  • Improved details on 'Ambulance' construction tooltip.
  • Performance modifications to sprite mechanics.
  • Removed wind from flower beds.
  • Performance improvements overall.
  • Dead patients should no longer report symptoms.
  • Modified the 'Room assignment' panel. (Longer text would fall off the window)


New additions:

  • Added a slight delay to the 'Hearse' exit.
  • Added "Paramedic required" to vehicle popup. (Clicking the 'Ambulance' now says it requires 'Paramedics')


THIS HAS NOW BEEN FIXED



Some have experienced that the game crashes when opening the 'Journal'. We would wholeheartedly appreciated it if those of you encountering it would send in your savegames' logfile, which makes it easier for us to directly see what might have happened during the crash.

You can find the log file in the following directory: [STEAMFOLDER]\steamapps\common\Hospitalize\Hospitalize_Data\output_log.txt

Please send it to support@illeris.com and we'll get on cracking it as soon as possible!

The next update for Hospitalize is ready! We're super excited about this and are eager to see what you all think! We did launch much of this on the 'Experimental branch', but for those who didn't play that, it'll be a whole new experience for sure :]

We're now ready to start on a new chapter for Hospitalize and can't wait to tell you about what's in store next! But without further ado...

Features of v0.11:



Bugfixes:

  • The 'Bus parking' and 'Deliveries' now have the correct sprite.
  • Fixed multiple bugs which caused the game to crash while decontructing objects that are in use.
  • Fixed the position of the scroll handle on the Save & Load menu.
  • Fixed a bug in the Save & Load mechanics which caused the game to crash.
  • Fixed a bug in the contracts mechanics.
  • Fixed a bug in the procedures mechanics.
  • Fixed a bug in the operation bed animation.
  • Fixed a bug when loading games.
  • Fixed a bug where walls would be left unfinished by the Caretakers.
  • Fixed object: 'Hospital bed'. (Doctors should now stand by the side of the bed.)

Changes:

  • Patient journal now allows the player to ask how the patient is feeling.
  • Objects scheduled for deconstruction or storage now highlight in red.
  • Objects obstructing pathfinding now highlight in red while in construction mode.
  • Revamped the room assignment window. (Rooms can now be named and hovering the mouse over rooms now shows their required objects/size.)
  • Reworked excisting missions.
  • Improved performance of pathfinding.
  • Improved backend systems. (This will make it easier for us to implement new features in the future.)
  • When patients are hospitalized they will not get out of their bed to get prescriptions. Instead, nurses will now get it for them and deliver it. This will show up as tasks:

    • Medicine Antibiotics.
    • Medicine Painkillers.
    • Medicine Blood thinner.
    • Medicine Acid Inhibitor.
    • Medicine Morphine.
    • Medicine Steroid.
    • Medicine Anti diabetes.
    • Medicine Anti histamins.

  • The bug report tool now has the option to include an output log. (This will give send a txt file which includes any error you might've encountered when the bug happened.)
  • Activities scheduled by the player will now initiate immidiately if possible, and are included in the journal as "scheduled by [Player]".
  • Made significant changes to the Doctor's Handbook.
  • Increased the text size of skill numbers.
  • Lots of minor changes++


New additions:

  • Added Rehabilitation. (This will be applied to patients after certain surgeries.)
  • Added the option to send user statistics. (You can toggle this on/off in the bottom right corner of the main menu.)
  • Added new Contracts.
  • Added countdown timers to Contracts. (You will now have to accept a Contract within a certain time after they appear in your mailbox.)
  • Added new and improved tooltips.
  • Added dynamtic trees across the map. (This requires you to make a new game and will not generate trees on already excisting maps.)
  • Added multiple new missions.
  • Added help buttons to almost all windows. (This is a small 'Question Mark' next to the close button.)
  • New feature: Character transportation.
  • New feature: You can now cycle through targets when clicking at the same position.
  • New feature: Emergency events. (Emergencies that are close by will have an exclamation mark next to the 'Distance' parameter, not responding to these will severely harm your reputation and money.)
  • New vehicle: Ambulance.
  • New vehicle: Hearse.
  • New skill: Driving.
  • New skill: Piloting.
  • New character: Paramedic. (These are needed in order to carry out Emergency events.)
  • New character: Porters. (Yes, this guy was added in a previous update, but didn't have any use until now. Our mistake!)
  • New room: Emergency room.
  • New room: Mortuary. (Dead patients end up here)
  • New illnesses:

    • Burn.
    • Broken ribs.
    • Disclocated shoulder.

  • New symptoms:

    • Cardiac arrest.
    • Swelling.
