We have just launched a short Experimental Branch for the new 912 update coming this month.
Full patch notes will come with the official update, but here is a brief synopsis of some of the main additions and changes.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:When you switch your branch to the Experimental Branch please create a New Save to play | Currently there is no experimental test server but you are able to play hosted multiplayer with friends as long as they download the experimental branch. Experimental Branch is not compatible with anyone hosting a Dedicated Server..(ofc works with single player as well)
New Stuff:
Melee combat overhaul, allowing the player to move while swinging to stop that restricted attack stance feel
Bleeding mechanic (Breaking windows, Zeek hits and bullets wounds)
Outline character when camera is obstructed
House generator has been added to power fridges, cookers/ovens, and interior lights
Buildable improvised fridge added to aid those who prefer to live in the wild but still benefit from keeping food from spoiling
Compost Bin craftable to create fertilizer (only accepts spoiled food)
Buildable Car Battery Charger added to power options
Food and drink now has capacity and can be consumed by an amount (can be shared with friends)
Free moving camera while driving
Meat Salting Table craftable added (used for curing meat)
Antibiotics added to help cure food poisoning over time
Survivors can now vomit when suffering from food poisoning
Changes:
Large Weapons now go into backpacks
Consumable food and drink no longer stack as they now become spoiled over time
Certain items no longer go into your pockets (examples: fuel can, car battery and sheet metal etc)
Backpack and container slots have been increased to help with the lack of stacking of perishables
Elite zeek changes making them harder to deal with. (Larger zeeks now require more hits to stun them)
Food and Drink now has decay over time (Fresh, Stale, Old and Rotten)
Funnel item is no longer required for syphoning fuel from vehicles
You can now craft improvised bow and improvised arrows from the player crafting menu.
There are a lot of extra changes, improvements and bug fixes that have been implemented, but again, this is a small snapshot which you will see in the official patch notes.
Thank you for taking part in playing the Experimental Branch and for supporting the game in Early Access for the past ALMOST year!

Kick off your summer gaming with savings!
Hi everyone!
If you were thinking about getting the game, now is a great time to do so. You can add the game to your collection for 30% off starting with the Steam Summer Sale on June 27th and ending an additional week after most sales end on July 19th!
Welcome to the patch notes of update 0.911 - Pursuits & Perspectives. This is one of our biggest updates to date which includes a quest system, changes to movement and the camera system, a bunch of new weapons, items and much much more.
Localization Update: Unfortunately, we are still waiting on the full translation for this update as the amount of text, items, and other changes made to HumanitZ made some significant increases in text. The localization testing has taken much longer than we anticipated but we plan to release a localization patch as soon as it is ready so further updates around the localization patch will be announced soon.
Known Issues: Due to the massive scale of changes in this update, there is a small chance some old saves might have a broken character model. We were not able to resolve this issue before release, but we will continue to work on it as .911 continues. We believe it's an issue very few players encounter during this update, and that players are happy to begin a new save with all the new content and we thank you for your support during our Early Access journey .
Server Info: Official servers will be receiving a fresh clean wipe to allow for the newly added quest system as well as the changes and improvements to the map. We advise all server owners to do the same and start fresh with the new look in HumanitZ.
New camera & player movement option
Major changes have been made to the movement and camera system. The middle mouse now also works as well as Q&E to rotate the camera and you can tilt the camera angle with the middle mouse to help you see your player inside buildings, tight spaces or to see that bit further in front of you. For old players that like the old system you can still play the game in the same way but we felt that this change needed to be done as we look to take the game forward.
New Quest System
The much awaited Quest System has been added with this update. We would like to state that this is just the beginning of Quests and NPCs that we are bringing to the game and things will only improve and get better as we develop more lore and improve our systems. We plan to release more elaborate quests with each major update. But we are really happy with our first release of quests and we are sure you’ll have fun meeting the different characters and completing their tasks and stories. While quests can be explored on dedicated servers it is best experienced in single player and coop.

However, you are able to play HumanitZ on the SteamDeck but before starting a game you must lower your graphics settings to low/medium. More updates and improvements on this coming soon!)

New Camera Tilt Test
Hey Survivors
We wanted to reach out to our steam community as not all of you will be within our discord.
We have been testing a better tilted camera angle to allow further viewing distance and wanted to share a video with you all to see what you think.
It's been 2 weeks since the last Zeek Feed, let's dive in and see what's being going on
What we have been working on…
Changes to default controls!!! So one of the biggest issues that some players have is the movement and camera controls, most people love it or love it after some time and others just do not like it. We are fully aware of this and it's something we are actively looking at improving and testing these improvements, but it's not easy and if it was we’d have done it already. But when the next update drops in June the default player movement controls will be set to Movement (this will feel more similar to other top down games as the player will only face the direction of the crosshair when aiming), and camera rotation will stay on continuous. For players that don’t like to use Q&E they can set camera rotation to MiddleMouse instead.
Steam Deck!! So recently we added all buildings in our map to our level streaming system to help with performance and loading time. This has been successful and I’m currently testing with my personal steam deck OLED and the game and map loads in seconds which is a huge improvement as previously this device really struggled to load the main map. Now we are working on the controller support to go with the steam deck updates so we move closer to get HumanitZ being fully supported for steam deck.
We’ve been working on a new master material for all our character clothing to allow weather effects, dirt, blood, wear and tear to add some more realism to the character clothing. More info on this when it's ready to be added to the live build.
Brand new menus coming to HumanitZ making them more streamline and work well with both PC and controller/console, here is a WIP sneak peak of how they might look. More info coming soon.
New POI added to the map that was teased on our discord recently is a research lab on a small little island so this will be a cool place to discover when the new update drops. But please note this is not the hidden island that is coming at 1.0 this is just a new location as we look to update the map further.
Future stuff:
Animal hide will be coming to the game allowing the player to craft certain items like clothing etc.
All houses and buildings have a low chance of an alarm going off when smashing windows for the first time.
Adding the option to use/consume half of something that allows you to share with your teammate. Example a bottle of water you and your friend can share, this will create more fun in scarce loot settings when surviving is a lot harder.
Zooming out the camera a bit further so the player can see further and also the same inside buildings allowing better viewing.
Some changes to crafting and building items as some items will now be tied to in-game recipes you will need to find/unlock. Basically learning how to do something.
Big map updates coming with new towns, neighbourhoods and places to loot with improvements to house layouts and more variation across the map.
Thanks for the support and taking the time to read our latest zeek feed. And we’ll see you on the next one
Regards HZ Team
