INFRA: Part 2 is out now!

Hey guys,

INFRA: Part 2 is out now for everyone. Go play it! If you don't own the game yet, this is a content update that is included with the game.

To start INFRA: Part 2, click "Continue" on the main menu if your last save was at the end of INFRA: Part 1. Otherwise you can simply click "New Game" and select "Public Transport".

We have a few patches in the pipeline already, and those will follow soon. Here's a highlight of what's currently in INFRA: Part 2:

  • New content. INFRA: Part 2 continues straight from where INFRA: Part 1 left off and includes 13 new levels. The soundtrack has also been updated and contains 4 new songs from those levels.
  • Improved loading times. Loading times should be roughly half of what they used to be. We measured a 52% improvement on HDDs and 63% on SSDs.
  • New pause menu. The old pause menu has been replaced by the phone that Mark carries with him.
  • Bugfixes. INFRA: Part 2 also fixes some issues in INFRA: Part 1 levels. Further improvements are planned in future updates.

Full patch notes can be found here. As usual, if you run into any problems, let us know on the Steam Discussions!

We have one more major content update planned – INFRA: Part 3 – that will wrap up the story, but we don't have a release date for it yet.

As you might've noticed, we've also increased the price of the game a bit. It now matches more closely what we were thinking it should be before we decided to cut the game into multiple parts.

INFRA: Part 3 announcement

Hey guys,

We have big news today. After a lot of thinking, we've come to the conclusion that we're going to release INFRA in three parts instead of just two as originally planned.

INFRA: Part 3 will be a free update to the game, just like INFRA: Part 2 will be.

What this means is that you will get new content faster, instead of waiting for us to finish work on the entire game. We've noticed that whenever we release new content, we receive a lot of valuable feedback. That's feedback that we can take into account when working on the rest of the game.

So, not only will you get new content faster, it will also probably be better with your feedback.

For our Indiegogo backers, we will be shipping out all physical rewards with the release of INFRA: Part 3. This is primarily because we don't want to print out physical disks of an unfinished product.

So, with all this talk about INFRA: Part 3, when is INFRA: Part 2 coming out, then? Hold on, I think Jeff Walter would like to have a word with you.

Now, where was I? Oh, the release date. It's soon. Also, we've just released version 1.1.5 of INFRA, which fixes a lot of things in the game.

Performance improvements, full controller support, bugfixes

Hey,

We've just pushed out version 1.1.5 and it fixes a lot of issues with the game. You can look forward to the following things:

  • Full controller support! The main menu is now fully useable with only a controller or a keyboard.
  • Performance improvements. You should see a slight performance improvement across the board.
  • Interaction improvements. Valves and other things should be a lot easier to use now without having to aim straight towards them. Also, things shouldn't be useable through walls anymore.
  • Raft ride improvements. Mark can now photograph things while on the raft. It should also feel a bit nicer to steer.
  • Bugfixes and miscellaneous improvements. Every level in the game has had their fair share of bugs fixed.

Unfortunately this update is not compatible with existing saved games.

If you try to load an old saved game, the game will prompt you to restart the level. If you decide to restart the level, you will only lose progress within that level. The game will remember all your photos, repaired spots and other choices when you restart the level.

If you don't want to update yet, that's fine. We've created a Steam beta branch that will keep the game version at 1.1.4.

If you choose not to update, right-click INFRA on Steam, select "Properties", "Betas" and "1.1.4" from the drop-down menu.

Demo recording is back, bugfixes

Hey guys,

Here's another patch that fixes a couple of issues.

One notable feature is the return of demo recording – a feature commonly used by speedrunners to record gameplay. This was really broken in earlier versions, so it was briefly disabled. All the major issues with it have now been fixed, so this patch re-enables the feature.

This version is compatible with previous saved games.

Version 1.1.4

  • Added autosaves to be loadable from the pause menu
  • Added a subtle red tint to the player hurt effect – on lower settings this is displayed instead of the post-processing effect, but on higher graphics settings this is displayed in addition to the post-processing effect
  • Added demo recording back (issue #124)
  • Changed "restart from checkpoint" pause menu option to read "restart from last save"
  • Changed the player hurt effect to be also played for the killing blow
  • Fixed a case where triggers could cause 0 damage to the player (i.e. screen would shake, but no damage effects would appear and no damage would be actually taken)
  • Fixed the main menu focusing multiple menu options at once in some cases after a video mode change
  • Fixed the pause menu being briefly visible during level loading
  • Fixed a case where the player could receive 0 fall damage if near the fall damage velocity threshold (i.e. screen would shake, but no damage effects would appear and no damage would be actually taken)
  • Fixed frame rate drop when taking a photo (or repairing a spot, etc.) for the first time
  • Fixed demo recording issue where the game would crash when the player died (issue #124)
  • Fixed demo playback ending when the player dies (issue #124)
  • Fixed demo playback issue where the electrified water death sound was still playing after the player had respawned (issue #124)

office

  • Changed the intro sequence so that the player view is less restricted

Gameplay refinement update

Hello everyone!

Another BIG update is here. The last big update focused on level design changes so this time the focus is shifted to perfecting gameplay mechanics. In short, all the issues regarding player movement have been fixed. Most notably the climbing mechanics have been rewritten resulting in much more predictable and stable movement. The movable crates used on many occasions now stay still too unless picked up and moved around by the player, so no more falling to the water because of wiggly crates. Some rare crash issues have also been fixed along with graphical issues when low graphical quality settings were selected.

We've also enabled full Steam Cloud support.

Below is a list of universal changes. Most of the levels have had their share of fixes and changes too. Level related changes are cut out because of length restrictions. See the complete changelist here.

Level revamp update

Hello everyone!

The bigger update we talked about yesterday is here. Every level in the game has been updated. We felt that some of the levels were lacking with detail, gameplay and realism, so these problems have now been dealt with. Hope you like the changes! Changelist below. It's so long that even this shortened version had problems fitting here.

Also, the player character's voice has been updated, it is now smoother sounding and easier to understand.

N.b. Unfortunately this update will mess with your current saves in the game. To avoid this, leave the game in a beginning of a chapter during the update. You can also disable the update if you want to. To do this, go to: Steam Library -> INFRA -> Options -> Updates. Here are also some instructions in case something happens to your saves: http://steamcommunity.com/app/251110/discussions/1/412446292769452652/
