Instant Transactions - Interstellar Rift development update 166
It's been a while since our last update, but we're happy to release another one after it's been spending some time in the experimental oven. The main new addition to the game in this update is the vault to ship teleportation. But we've also fixed some bugs and reworked some things behind the scenes.
Vault to ship teleportation is a new way of teleporting resources and tools from your vault to the ship without all that needless mucking about with cargo teleporters or, even worse, carrying things.
From the vault simply select a target ship and target storage and for a modest fee your resources will be teleported over.
We've also been fixing some long standing bugs and introduced a ship cache. This will store ship data for easy access and makes sure we don't have to load the ships more often than needed. Which should result in better memory utilization and improved performance. We wanted to test these changes to make sure nothing would break, which is why they've been in the experimental phase for some time.
For all the bug fixes and other minor changes, please see the patch notes.

Patch notes for Interstellar Rift 1.0.2.21
BUG FIXES
Fixed a bug where the server could incorrectly think that a ghost client was already running
Added option to restart ghost clients if their initial connection is taking too long
Stopped the initial connection to logging server if AllowAnonymousDataGathering was disabled
Increased the buffer size for the logging server to reduce reconnection attempts
Shorten logging server initial connection timeout
NOTES
EU server issues were indirectly caused by the fire in an OVH datacentre taking down a relay server that was running there. The EU servers were running with the ghost client restart option mentioned in the changelog, so the server would shut them down before they tried to connect as the connection attempt to the relay server would take at least 15 seconds to time out.
Servers do not need to be restarted, but it is recommended as this patch should reduce initial startup time because of the logging server timeout tweaks.
Experimental version 1.0.3.00 is now live!
Hi everyone,
The latest update for Interstellar Rift (e1.0.3.00) is now available on the experimental branch.
This experimental version contains some major reworks of some of the internal game systems for saving ships and other memory oriented processes. This should lead to reduced memory usage and more stable servers with better performance.
It also includes the community poll feature from the beginning of the year.
For all the changes and bug fixes please see the patch notes linked below.
To enable the experimental branch, right click on Interstellar Rift in Steam, go to the beta tab, and select the "experimental IR beta patches" option
Please note that galaxy files opened in the experimental build, may turn out to be broken when going back to the regular build. It is recommended to start a new save file when trying the experimental build.

2020 In Hindsight - Interstellar Rift Development Update 165
Welcome back to another Interstellar Rift development update! In this update we add the community poll winners; the interior windows. We are also adding in DLC support with the release of a free Holidays 2020 DLC pack. We’ve also made a couple of other small changes which we’ll detail below.
First up, the interior windows. We’ve added 8 new interior windows which can be placed between rooms. The placement works very much in the same way as doors. Placing them on a wall creates a new room behind them if there wasn’t a room already present. Removing a room on the other side also removes the windows.
To match with the new windows we’ve also updated some of the windows and walls that were already in the game. With this update they also gain the functionality that the interior windows have, to switch between transparent and opaque. The small doors and medbay doors have been updated to use the new glass look, but don’t have the functionality yet to be darkened. We’ll update these early next year.
To test our DLC backend for future DLCs we decided to release a small pack of Holiday Season related items in a free DLC. Among them you can find some christmas lights, a snowman, a fireplace, and more. We’ve also added an offset version of the dining benches so you can cozy up to the fire in the cold vacuum of space.
Our plans for future DLC are coming into focus and we decided that we don’t want them to impact the main gameplay features of the game. As such we will keep releasing free updates with new features and props. We will look towards offering some extra content in the DLC packs with which you can customize your ship in various new ways.
To go into detail about the DLC for ships, it will work as follows. You can place and look at the DLC props in the editor, but you won’t be able to construct or modify ships with DLC content on them that you yourself do not have. This means that other players can modify the ships for you, or you can purchase a ship with the DLC content already present. You can’t modify that ship any further at that point though, not without first removing the DLC content.
And with that we’ve come to the end of 2020, we at Split Polygon would like to extend our best wishes to everyone, we’re looking forward to what we can bring to Interstellar Rift in 2021.
Happy Holidays, and as always we’ll see you star-side!
