Drone Packs Dropping In!

Ever find yourself in the middle of the battlefield in need of a weapon, or perhaps an upgrade to a weapon you’ve already got on you? Well, look no further than drone packs deployed by the Earth Counter Invasion Force (ECIF)!

As you take on The Meat across multiple environments, you’ll notice several drones containing either a weapon or a passive upgrade (like Rapid Fire) that you can obtain.

Sent by the ECIF to assist in your missions, these drones will fly up and down as they make their way across the screen.

Be sure to shoot at them before they go away!

So ditch your standard issue rifle and battle against The Meat with the best weapons and upgrades the ECIF can offer with drone packs! Or…you COULD just avoid them entirely if you choose to, but who would be foolish enough to do such a thing?!

"Check out my SKIN COLLECTION!"

Hard work deserves a fitting reward. That’s why you’ll be able to unlock over 30 unique skins as you play through Iron Meat! While skins have been a staple in the demo for some time now, we wanted to showcase what players can look forward to when the game launches later this year!

That said, check out this image of the skin gallery UI:

In this UI, players will be able to browse over all the skins they’ve currently unlocked, along with a fitting blurb to go along with each one! As seen in the image above, any skin currently unavailable will be denoted with a blue padlock icon–which also prevents players from reading the flavor text to go along with that skin. And as you may have guessed, with each newly unlocked skin, that skin’s individual parts (i.e. head, arms, body, legs) will be available to mix and match when selecting your player-character prior to choosing a level.

As you progress through Iron Meat, you’ll be rewarded with a new skin each time you increase your player rank. In addition, the rarest skins will be locked behind certain achievements, so be sure to unlock them all!

You can look forward to unlocking every skin when Iron Meat launches later this year!

We hope you look forward to even more as we continue on with development!

Take on The Meat With a Buddy!

With the Earth Counter Invasion Force (ECIF) struggling to contain the Meat invasion, they’ll need every able-bodied soldier on the frontlines! But who says you have to take on the Meat horde alone? Grab a buddy and fight together with local Couch Co-op!

Got a friend who’s just raring to go for some retro run-and-gun shooter action? Got a brother or sister begging for their turn with the game? Got an ultra-competitive acquaintance who just loves flexing their higher score on you?

Well, look no further than Iron Meat’s couch co-op multiplayer feature! With this, two players can join the ECIF in fighting back against The Meat! Mix and match your skins, annihilate bosses, and flex your best scores on each other!

In addition, we are pleased to say that every in-game cutscene has been ever-so-slightly altered to include the second player, so your duo will never have to wonder: “Wait, where’s my character?”

You can look forward to playing through Iron Meat with local Couch Co-op when the game launches later this year!

Eye Can See You There!

No, they’re not turrets. Well, actually they kinda are! Eyesticks are appendages born from a vile collection of Meat spores that have evolved into a different form!

Eyesticks function exactly like turrets, but they can retract into and out of their stationary sockets. When fully extended, Eyesticks will fire one burning projectile at the player, which will then cause it to retract.

While Eyesticks cannot move on their own, they still present a threat when trying to move through the levels they appear in. You can either take them out while dodging their attacks, or risk getting shot in the back from a stray projectile! Best option? Eliminate them as quickly as you can!

Look forward to even more as we continue with development!

Bringing The Meat to Life!

After showing off the game's 2D intro animation in past trailers, along with having it visible at live showcase events, we wanted to bring it into the demo for all players to enjoy!

We were ecstatic to work with 2D artist Jaime (@JaimeR_2D) in creating an awesome animation for the game! We wanted to showcase cool moments both in terms of the game's storyline and to tease some locations and enemies players can expect to face at launch!

Those interested in Iron Meat's narrative can also observe a few key scenes that introduce scientist Yuri Markov and his lunar laboratory, Vadim--the default player-character--along with his combat skills and his journey to stop The Meat.

While the animation shows off a lot of what Iron Meat has to offer, it certainly holds back quite a lot! Instead, players can look forward to all the other features available in Iron Meat once the game launches later this year! In the meantime, we hope you'll have a BLAST watching the animation within the demo!

It's no doubt that the animation had to incorporate a look and feel for how we wanted players to experience Iron Meat. With blood, guts, gunfire, and...uh, MORE blood, guts, and gunfire, we can see how the world of Iron Meat is filled with dire urgency in defending Earth against the Meat's overwhelming invasion.

We're excited to share more with you as Iron Meat chugs along with its development!

New, Updated Demo Out Now!

We are pleased to announce the release of a new, updated demo for Iron Meat! Have a look at some of the details!

New Features:

  • 2D Intro Animation: What used to be exclusive to our game trailers and at live showcase events can now be enjoyed by ALL players in the new demo! This amazing 2D animation created by ___ puts you in the perspective of Vadim, a soldier of the Earth Counter Invasion Force (ECIF), as he battles The Meat across multiple environments you can expect to see in the final game!
  • New Opening Cutscene: How the hell did The Meat invasion start anyway? Well, this new in-game cutscene answers just that! Players will be able to see how scientist Yuri Markov and lunar soldier Sasha begin their roles in Iron Meat's visual story! We hope you enjoy this narrative addition to the demo!

Opening Story: As Yuri Markov studies The Meat at his research base on the Moon, the entity suddenly breaks out, takes control of the scientist, and begins wreaking havoc! Rushing onto the scene is Sasha--a veteran soldier who sends a signal to Earth warning the ECIF about the impending invasion! But as Sasha transmits her message, a horde of Meat creatures arrives, prompting her to abandon the lab and search for any other humans on the Moon Base! As Markov unleashes The Meat invasion upon Earth, we find ourselves at a military base already under attack!

  • Fixes & Technical Updates:
    - Updated gamepad support
    - Fixed a visual issue showing the wrong life-count
    - Fixed responsiveness of game on multiple screen resolutions
    - Other performance enhancements
    - English, Russian, and Portuguese languages now supported in-game, with even more localizations coming in the final version
    - Removal of City: While the City level is no longer playable, we wanted to showcase all the visual and internal changes from all the work we've been doing! Players can look forward to playing on City again when the game launches later this year!

These Spooky Critters Want BLOOD!

Throughout your missions, you can expect to find Blats flying around, looking for their next meal! As one of the few original monsters not derived from any inanimate object or structure, Blats are monsters spawned solely from The Meat. But while they desire flesh and blood, Blats only desire to consume human guts to satisfy their hunger!

Sometimes, you’ll find Blats at the behest of larger Meat monsters, such as the Carrionvoy on the Train level! For instance, the Carrionvoy will at times give a loud ROAR to summon a horde of Blats to swarm the player.

Other times, Blats can spawn from Meat Generators, such as those found on City during the Monster House fight! In this fight, they are paired with Dragonflys to attack the player with the boss.

No one likes a pest problem, so be sure to eliminate any Blats you encounter throughout your missions! Anything originating from The Meat must be destroyed, and Blats are certainly no exception.

Also, for those who can view it, Happy Total Eclipse Day! Reminder to keep your eyes safe, and, who knows, you might even see some DETAILS on the Moon...

Brave Soldiers of Earth

As the global organization aimed at defending humanity from The Meat, the Earth Counter Invasion Force (ECIF) is always prepared against any extraterrestrial threat...

UNTIL NOW.

Comprised of the finest soldiers, technicians, and scientists from across the globe, the ECIF rallies its forces to stand against The Meat!

As you wage war against the all-consuming MEAT, you'll find your fellow humans also engaged in combat with the minions of the interdimensional entity!

You'll see ECIF soldiers fighting off The Meat at several points across your missions. Sometimes, they'll even throw you helpful weapon upgrades! At other times, you may even find the fallen bodies of deceased soldiers, or those consumed by The Meat.

When facing off against such overwhelming odds, it's always good to know you've got your fellow humans fighting by your side! Unless, of course, they've already been taken over by The Meat, in which case...BLAST THEM!
