Hey everyone, this week's update is light on the content, but for good reason:
We are in the final stages of development on Chapter One.
To integrate the new content and systems, we'll have to pause the content updates until Chapter One is released. Early tests are promising, but there's still a fair few things we want to make sure are polished and intuitive before release. Additionally, due to tech constraints we can't seamlessly work on Chapter One content while maintaining a Chapter Zero version of the city without constant build and QA processes, which is an arduous task for a team of 5 (Something we've been doing every week since the game came out!) Some players have even noticed new in development content sneaking into live builds (thanks for shouting that out, by the way)
We figured everyone wants the new stuff, so lets focus on and finish the new stuff!
Our current goal line is end of this month for the release of Chapter One, but it might come sooner or later depending on any issues that arise during testing.
During these 20 weekly updates (not to mention the hotfixes), you've given us invaluable feedback to better help shape Rockhaven, and cheered us on throughout the process.
We've changed systems, added missions, locations and even entirely new features. We've improved performance (still more to come!), and hit a nice cadence of smaller updates while simultaneously working on the future of It's Only Money. Most importantly, we've felt the game's found a small but incredibly cool community of people.
We cannot thank you enough for making our launch a special one. The trust you've shown by taking a chance on It's Only Money through Early Access is appreciated by the team more than we could express in a steam post, and we'll continue working to a high standard to ensure that you feel your purchase was worth it.
To celebrate, everyone gets a "Buh Bye Chapter Zero" Shirt
Everyone should automatically be granted the shirt on existing saves or new files.
Additionally, some bug fixes hit this week.
- New and Improved Knockout Camera - Updated UI Logo for Harborside - Added/Fixed Drunk effects influencing vehicle controls and screen effects - Fixed cops sometimes getting confused when chasing a player - Fixed slow movement speed on clients when performing a combat move while drunk - Fixed the player launching into the sky if becoming sober while ragdolled - Made ability HUD elements more responsive and show charging - Fixed camera snapping back to center, now it smoothly interpolates - Fixed item acquired slide ins wait for no other UI to be on screen before expiring - Fixed vehicle camera being able to clip through objects - Improved perk timeout text on clients - Fixed controller key shown by default on the welcome message - Fixed NPC's always having neon green somewhere in their outfit - Fixed some shopkeepers being interactable even though they had no interact options
Though we're pausing weekly updates, we'll continue to monitor Steam and Discord for bugs and get those fixed ASAP once we're alerted. Closer to the announcement of Chapter One's release date we'll detail what exactly to expect with a Steam blog post, but until then have a good one and again, thank you all so much for your support thus far.
Weekly Content Update #19 Now LIVE
Howdy everyone, it's time for another weekly update. Let's get into it:
Get Drunk and stumble around Rockhaven
This week allows Rockhaveners to indulge in every dropkicks favourite pastime: Drinking too much. Head to your local bar and enjoy either a bottle of beer, or down an entire serving of whiskey and enjoy one of two new perks:
Buzzed: Slightly blurred vision, but a decrease in Combat Move cooldown time.
Plastered: Your legs are giving out, your eyes want to close, but somehow you're still shambling around. Be careful attempting to jump, and whatever you do, don't fire a high pressured water pistol or you'll fly into the next dimension.
Enjoy responsibly! (or don't, we aren't judging)
New Location: Harborside
What better place to enjoy the new effects of drinking than Harborside. Located at the base of the Mayor tower where the park meets the water, Harborside offers fantastic alcoholic drinks, and, well... that's about all they offer. Be sure not to fall into the Ocean after indulging.
Expanded Reward Chest Drops:
A handful of new structure items have been added to the reward chest offerings, including:
- Lucky Cat - Bull Club Sign - Wedding Arch - Modern Red Fixtures
And More! Complete a few crookbook games or pop some spy balloons and get opening to find some sweet new decor items.
Combat UI Overhaul
Ahead of Chapter One dropping, our UI demon has gone over the combat UI to make it more readable and pop more with every action. The addition of a cooldown timer and unique colors for each combat move should help when you need a quick glance at what's going on. The new move icons are a taste of things to come...
New Stock At Brown Pipes
Ever wanted to go potty alongside a friend? The new Urinals in stock at Brown Pipes can make all your dreams come true. You can also use them to flush yourself back to the Undercity, but don't think too hard about how that works.
Finally, a new Hidden Cache
There awaits another Loot Cache hidden somewhere in Rockhaven. Here's your clue:
Where your journey begins underground, look to the sky and hear the sound: Rails would screech and come alive, bounce up there, fly to the prize
Stop TV from immediately running when game starts.
Fixed campervan being able to be despawned before it should be able to in Spud's second quest.
Fixed getaway orbs being visible for clients when joining a game at 0 bounty.
Potential fix for votes sometimes being inconsistent after completing an activity.
Fixed map marker for Jern.
Fixed durability pips for weapons with greater than 10 Max Durability.
Weekly Update #18 Now LIVE
Howdy everyone, a new weekly update to tuck into:
Old Mate Jims Furniture
Located on the waterfront below the Mayor tower, Old Mate Jims hosts some upper scale furniture offerings with a premium feel and price tag. If you're tired of the dust and must of Trenchtowns Third Hand Furniture, head on down to Old Mate Jims and peruse the following launch stock:
- Hammond Sleep King - Leather Black Lounge Chair - Upper Class Black Office Chair - Premium Green 2 Seater - Crud Brand Modern Couch - Crud Brand Double Bed New Lootable Weapon: Old Mailbox:
Need to deliver a thump to someones head in a pinch? Take a tour of Rockhavens residential properties and borrow someones Mailbox. It's a modern day warhammer, dealing a whopping 30 damage per swing, but be careful of the relatively low durability.
New range of Steezy680ti Colorways:
Pop on over to Steezy and claim one of the new colorways dropping today, including:
- Trackmeet - Ultra Coral - Atmosphere - Red November - Green Christmas
And a hidden treasure cache:
Here's your clue: Somewhere in the city where dogs run free, look to the sky above the sea
- Fixed ATM music not respecting volume slider (now respects UI slider) - Fixed Balloon Gun not spawning in mission from barrel - *Possible* fix for a report that Hotwiring wasn't working on first attempt per vehicle
Weekly Update #17 NOW LIVE
Howdy everyone, another week, another update, let's tuck in:
Improvements to Nanas repeatable Combat Missions:
Nana's repeatable combat missions are something we want to touch on progressively as we develop It's Only Money. We want them to be an exciting activity you can grind out, prepare for and enjoy multiple times. Today we're adding a new location where these encounters can take place, and some new possible enemy factions you'll run into when taking a Nana mission. New Location: Pound Town
"Pound Town" is an under construction dog pound situated next to the Big Hit driving range. Built atop an old dockyard and water collection plant, it's a little musty, which attracts some troublemakers including Pat the Dog and his Pack. There's a few trampolines for traversal, and weapon looting spots eagle eyed players will spot. Aside from Stafford Storage, Nana will also send players to Pound Town for combat missions.
New Enemy Factions In Nana Repeatable Combat missions:
When you take on a Nana mission, there's now a chance of 1 of 3 factions being your target. These include:
Corrupt Goorana Men MOVR Squadron Pat the Dog's Pack
These 3 factions can show up at any of the available combat locations.
As we move forward with the weeklies, we want to continue to touch on the Repeatable Combat missions and improve or add mechanics, and exciting rewards, and hopefully turn it into a content stream that's enjoyable to revisit.
Additionally, a small pass on in-game screens such as the Slimeway Manager and ATM
A suite of new icons and rendering effects give the virtual monitors a distinct feel this week, as well as some usability improvements
Chapter One Preview: Dr Powicks Undercity Upgrades
An eccentric Doctor is on his way to the Undercity in Chapter One! By helping Doctor Powick set up his new lab across the hall from the Beggar King, you'll be able to research and build various upgrades, some of which are long requested by the community. A few choice examples of potential upgrades include:
- Increased Carrying Capacity - Increased Wallet Size - Teleporters that allow fast travel to friends
Dr Powicks Lab will provide some meaningful upgrades, and some fun ways to tinker with the game at large. Once again, we're looking forward to the major update and will keep everyone posted.
Have a good week!
Weekly Content Update #16 NOW LIVE
Hey everyone,
This week we lay some physical groundwork for Chapter One, and add a few new furniture items to Third Hand Furniture, including a very special piece.
New Area: Lodge of the Three and surrounding Park
A new area has emerged this week, including the secretive Lodge of the Three and its surrounding waterfront park. While the primary purpose of this landmass will be revealed in Chapter One, there's certainly signs of a mystery some eagle eyed players can start to unravel starting today.
New Furniture Items At Third Hand Furniture
Third Hand's stock doubles this week, with a few new admittedly lower class selections. Head on over to your favourite neighbourhood thrift store and buy the:
Crud Brand Single Bed: Applies the Well Rested buff upon use
Air Inflated Floaty Bed: Applies the Rested buff upon use Budget Co Plastic Chair: Usually reserved for BBQ's or social events, Third Hand ensures you can recreate that vibe any time.
Sweaty Boy Gaming Chair: For when you feel the need to turn on your webcam and become a questionable personality for legions of weirdos, Third Hand now has your back.
Last but not least,
The Race Car Bed
The ultimate in sleeping satisfaction, hoon your way to a good nights sleep in the brand new Race Car Bed. It'll run you $600 at Third Hand, but it applies the elusive "Perfectly Rested" buff, dramatically increasing carrying capacity, stamina and damage.
Plus, a little preview of some of what you'll be doing in Chapter One..
You'll be covering an abduction shift for a new interstellar friend. Make sure you align the tractor beam correctly, or you'll cause someone to have a concussion instead of a new core memory. Not long to go!
Weekly Content Update #15 NOW LIVE
Howdy everyone,
To kick off with some exciting news, we're in the final stages of putting together Chapter One. Once we've managed to knock everything together, we'll let the "Homies" in Discord play test, then we'll be able to settle on a firm date. We appreciate the patience, and we're super excited for you all to see what we've been cooking up.
Let's jump into the weekly update notes:
New Feature: Getaway Orbs
Getaway Orbs are the latest way to help bring your bounty down in Rockhaven. The ethos behind them were to reward players who want to roleplay "hiding" from the cops a little more. While you have any amount of Bounty active, Getaway Orbs will start to spawn in cheeky spots around the city.
Getaway Orbs come in two flavors, normal, and Mega, denoted by the varying color. Regular Getaway Orbs will clear $10 from your bounty, while Mega Orbs will decrease your bounty by $25. If you have a bounty, be sure to run through alleyways, climb rooftops, indulge your inner hide-and-seek mentality and you'll surely find a few.
As soon as you have $0 Bounty, the Getaway Orbs will despawn from the City until you need them again.
Six New Accolades
First off, congratulations to the multiple community members along the way for completing every single Accolade in the game to this point. A huge achievement, and one we'll recognise formally in Rockhaven soon enough (among other Community triumphs). Accolades will continually be added throughout IOM's life, and so too will the rewards for completing them. This week we're adding two new accolade tracks, bringing the grand total to another 6.
Car Crusher I/II/III: Crush Cars at Wheelies to Unlock Public Nuisance I/II/III: Raise your bounty while staying alive to unlock these Accolades
New Pawn Store: Pier Pawn
We're also making efforts to add Pawn Stores to areas in Rockhaven that are missing that functionality. Until Chapter One comes, and the ability to raise your carrying capacity, it's good to offload what you can where you can. And with last weeks High/Low update, more Pawn Stores are always a good option to maximise profit.
You can find the latest store next to the Basketball Courts near First Church and Rockhaven Bridge.
New Shoes: Tonies Classic
A classic silhouette hits the streets of Rockhaven. Available at Legit Kicks (opposite the Slimeway), the Tonies design drops in three colorways:
Sensible Man (Black & White) Firehawk (Red) Ballpoint (Blue)
Cop your pair today, and be on the lookout for some exciting variations coming soon.
Have a great week everyone!
Weekly Content Update #14 Now LIVE!
Hey everyone, this weeks content update features an overhaul to the Pawn store mechanics, allowing you to buy low and sell high around the city. Get ready to do some day trading!
Pawn Store Overhaul
Entering a Pawn shop will allow you to buy and sell as usual, but there's an additional mechanic at play now. Looking to the top of the vendors inventory, you'll notice two boxes: Wanted & Clearance.
Clearance items will be half off, allowing you to stock up on cheap goods. Wanted items can be sold for double their usual amount. Different Pawn shops are looking for different things, and their inventory and requests reset every midnight in-game time. So grab a car, haul around the city, buy low and sell high. Also be sure to pop into Sneddons to increase your Bank Inventory space, you might need it!
SlimeAid Vending Machine and Item
You may notice a new green vending machine in Rockhaven this week. It doesn't sell Conk'e Cola, it sells SlimeSip! A fantastic new drink that when consumed boosts the speed of pickpocketing success. Grab a can and get to work stealing.
New Shop: Undercity Pawn
Take a detour from the Beggar King and you'll notice a new trading post has opened up in the Undercity. Handy to dump off wares, or check the clearance items before you head on up into Rockhaven proper.
Other Additions/Bug Fixes:
- Added new items that intend to be used more substantially when Chapter One Drops: Sapphire Gem, Found on Rich Citizens Bluetooth Speaker, Found on Medium Income Citizens D-Battery, Found on Poor Citizens Spare Tire, Found in Car Inventories
- Fixed some floor meshes that would cause NPC's to be stuck halfway in the ground.
Weekly Content Update #13 NOW LIVE!
Howdy everyone,
Another smaller weekly update hits today, including some community requested features, and other tidbits that lay the groundwork for content coming in Chapter One. Let's get into it:
Pickable Fruit Trees
If you're broke and in need of a full belly, scour around the forests and greener parts of Rockhaven and look for Fruit Trees to steal an Apple or two from. The community has requested growable plants for their safehouses and other production methods, and this is our first step toward toward those systems. In the mean time, have fun committing crimes against nature.
New Pawn Location: Underpass Pawn
Located next door to Awesome Dragon Dojo, and across the way from Aoraki Stadium, the newest Pawn Shop in Rockhaven should make it a little easier to offload your ill-gotten gains for cash.
New Ambient Vendor: Express Pawn
Speaking of making it easier to off-load, Ambient Pawn vendors will now spawn around Rockhaven. Be warned: These Pawn Vendors only buy at half the usual market price. So only use them in a pinch, or you know, rob them. It's up to you.
All Black Steezy Collection:
New to Steezy is a hotly requested all black suite of Clothing, featuring sweats, a hoodie, a beanie and a pair of the 680ti's. Pop on over to Steezy Central and get yourself fitted up.
Continued Performance work:
We've steadily been chipping away at optimizing the game, and have noticed a small but appreciable FPS increase across the board, including handhelds like the Steam Deck and Ally. This is a continuing process, but thanks again to all those who've helped report issues.
Known Issues:
- Playing the game while running Razer Cortex can negatively impact performance, with at least one user reporting that it caps their frame-rate at 30. We're investigating what we can do from our end, but we recommend turning off Razer Cortex while playing It's Only Money if you're noticing performance problems.
- Selecting Randomize while having a bald hairstyle can change your hair color and style when using a wardrobe
- Some trees are giving out sticks instead of Apples. This will be fixed in a hotfix coming tomorrow
Homies Preview
As mentioned in an earlier update, Tenants become Homies in Chapter One. We wanted to take a moment to go in-depth with some of what this change entails.
You'll free and move Homies into safehouses you own like normal, but now Homies can be tasked with following you, fighting with you, be assigned to business HUBs and participate in missions and Crookbook games with you throughout your time in Rockhaven. As they do this, they'll earn EXP and level up their star rating. With each star rating, they'll gain a point in one of three categories: Health, Body and Mind. Additionally, every Homie has a class, which will confer bonuses based on activities, and determine the combat moves they use.
Housing will also debut a small overhaul in Chapter One. You'll still buy and furnish your safehouses with essentials like normal, but instead of property worth being a barrier to move people into, they'll now provide statistical bonuses to the assigned Homie. Simply put, the better a place is decorated, the more the property is worth, the more bonus points into the aforementioned stats a Homie will receive.
We hope you're looking forward to the Homies overhaul, and the rest of the content coming in Chapter One. See you next week, and we hope you have a good one!
Weekly Content Update #12 NOW LIVE!
Howdy everyone,
As mentioned last week, we're continuing our weekly updates but they'll be of a smaller variety as we're full steam ahead trying to get the various elements of Chapter One finished up and tested. We appreciate the patience the community has shown thus far. We're really looking forward to showing off more specifics, and more importantly, getting the update out as soon as we can.
Let's go over what's in this weeks update:
New Prop Hunt Zone: Green Island Shopping Square
Weave in and out of Green Islands shopping square as you disguise yourself as various appliances, clothes racks and barrels in this new Prop Hunt Arena. Additionally, these zones will be used for a future activity debuting in Chapter One.
Ambient Dialogue Additions and Improvements
MOVR's now have ambient dialogue as they patrol the streets looking for citizens to scan, and undercitizens to fight. Additionally, several improvements have been made to police dialogue to better reflect the actions they're taking and the current status of your bounty.
New Clothing
A range of new clothing and colorways hits Rockhaven today, including:
- 3 New Boots at the Boot Boy Store - 3 New Tube Skirt Variants at "Finer Things" - New Leather Vest clothing piece, debuting in three different colors at "Misery"
New Easter Egg: Pay Respects
Today also marks the addition of our first easter egg. As time goes on, we'll quietly sneak these into the game for you to find, but figured we'd highlight this is now a feature you should be on the lookout for. Our first pays homage to a series and team that inspired us as a team. Pictured is a little hint on where to find it.
Other Notes
- New Junk Items added which will have further use in CH1 - Fixed various bugs submitted by community members
Cheers everyone, have a great week!
Weekly Content Update #11 Now LIVE!
How's it going, everyone? Another update hitting today touching on a widely requested feature, and some smaller fixes here and there. Let's get to it:
Inventory Overhaul
The community has long touched on the issue of item and inventory management. In the heat of action it's often hard or cumbersome to quickly swap to items you actually want to use, and we hope todays change makes it a little easier. From the ManageMe screen, you can now filter what sort of items auto-populate your hotbar. Be it consumables, tools or even junk, you can manually set your preferences for each slot. When you pick up items of these types, they'll take priority accordingly.
Additionally, while you're running around in the open world, you can hold the key or button for any of these slots and pull up a rotating menu, allowing you to quickly equip the items you want to use. Let us know what you think of these changes!
New Ambient Weapon Spawns
While running around in Rockhaven you might stumble across an interactable cleaning cart inside shops, or a wheelbarrow near construction sites. Looting these will provide you with one of two new weapons.
The Construction Sledge, or the Cleaning Broom.
The Sledge does a gargantuan amount of damage, but it only dishes out 4 hits before its broken. The Cleaning Broom has a little more durability, but packs a softer punch in comparison.
New Clothing, including Beanies!
Some folk in the community wanted more accessories, so starting today Steezy's selling beanies in one of 6 colourways. Additionally, Bo Jumbly's Trenchtown and Green Island are stocking a new type of jeans, one of which is a classic Denim colorway, so if you want to look like a Dad, there's something for you.
More Dialogue and Bug Fixes
We've expanded the range of dialogue Rockhaven citizens will say, with a further 100 lines depending on the situation. We've also taken care of a few bugs here and there as we go, and will continue to on our way to Chapter One.
Speaking of, enjoy a small preview, and have a great week!
