About the Route
The Yamanote Line runs in a circle around the center of Tokyo for 34.5 km, taking 59 minutes, and is one of the major lines in the Tokyo metropolitan area, connecting huge terminal stations with world-class passengers. It runs parallel to the Keihin Tohoku Line between Shinagawa and Tabata stations, and the Saikyo Line and Shonan Shinjuku Line between Ikebukuro and Osaki stations. Since most of the line runs parallel to other lines, many different types of rolling stock can be seen. The Yamanote Line has few level crossings, with only one crossing, the "Daini-Nakazato Level Crossing" between Tabata and Komagome Stations, the only crossing on the Yamanote Line. The line is also characterized by its high frequency of service, with trains running every 3 to 4 minutes during the morning rush hour on weekdays, and every 5 minutes during the daytime on weekdays. Digital ATC is used as the security system.

Regarding feedback received since the June 27th update
Thank you very much for the many comments received since the June 27 (Tuesday) update, including requests for additional functions to the simulator and reports of problems.
We have picked up on your comments, and both Ongaku-Kan and JR East have confirmed the contents today.
We will do our best to address the issues you have reported if the cause is on the software side.
Other functional modifications and additions will be made as we are able, in conjunction with future DLC distribution and major updates.
We will continue our efforts to make JR East Train Simulator loved by everyone!
For the most recent requests and bug reports we have received
Thank you very much for the many comments received since the June 27 (Tuesday) update, including requests for additional functions to the simulator and reports of problems.
We have picked up your comments and reviewed them with the development staff of both Ongaku-Kan and JR East.
We will do our best to address the issues you have reported if the cause is on the software side. On the other hand, it is difficult for us to make other functional improvements and additions to the software due to the fact that we are currently spending a large amount of resources on the production of monthly DLC releases, preparation for future major updates, and bug fixes.
Below is our current stance on the most recent feedback we have received. We do not necessarily promise that we will be able to implement the changes.
・Error warnings occur or freeze and crash when loading routes →We assume that this is due to the environment you are using, so we would appreciate it if you could check your specs once again. If the error occurs even though you meet the recommended specifications, we would appreciate it if you could describe your environment.
・The volume of departure bells, door chimes, whistles, and door-closing announcements have decreased →The sound field is now distributed according to the direction of door opening due to the update on Tuesday, June 27, 2023. It is difficult to determine the master volume because raising the volume higher than the current level may result in crackling. We will check the issue just to be sure. If the volume is extremely low, please check the volume setting.
・Audio settings are set to 0 for each item →We are sorry, but we are unable to address this issue because we cannot identify the cause.
・When stopping at a distance of 1 cm remaining, a successful stop at 0 cm is displayed →We will make adjustments with the aim of correcting this issue by the end of July.
・The weather change function →The weather change function is included in the simulator for training, but since it is highly loaded, it is necessary to make it lighter in order to run on the current recommended specs. Early implementation is difficult at this time.
・Implementation of long rail rolling sound (rail grinding sound) →This is an issue to be considered in the future.
・Timetable display function →This is an issue to be considered in the future.
・Shortcut key saving for driver's cab viewpoint →This is an issue to be considered in the future.
・Acceleration/deceleration G ON/OFF function →This is an issue to be considered in the future.
・Addition of a setting button to the pause screen →This is an issue to be considered in the future.
・The underground section of the Keiyo Line is completely dark and cannot be seen (not supported) →The tunnels of the Keiyo Line are dark even in the real environment because there is no light source. Since the photo was taken with the front light, it is not possible to make it brighter than it is now.
・Setting the vanishing point according to the enlargement/reduction/movement of the driver's cab →This is an issue to be considered in the future.
・Full screen display when using a 3:2 monitor (not supported) →Sorry, we do not plan to support this feature.
・Oito-line in-train broadcasts can be selected arbitrarily or randomly (male and female) →Currently, the policy is to implement one type, but this will be an issue for future consideration.
・Reproduction of blurring of the speedometer on the TIMS monitor (the speed is not maintained at a constant speed and blurs up and down) →This function is difficult to implement because it is not available in the training simulator. Since it requires additional development cost, we will consider this issue in the future.
・Overhead line voltage and OVD operation considering the line in service (regenerative braking) →This function is difficult to implement because it is not available in the training simulator. Since it requires additional development cost, this is an issue to be considered in the future.
・Brightness and volume adjustment and operation function of the TIMS monitor →Since this function is not available in the training simulator, it is difficult to implement. Since additional development cost is required, we will consider this issue in the future. Also, we are sorry about the TIMS monitor operation function, but we do not plan to implement it.
・Improvement of the lack of visibility of the pocket watch placement on Series 211 of the Oito-Line →We are sorry, but we do not plan to implement the TIMS monitor operation function. This will be an issue to be considered in the future.
・Implementation of air spring sound, brake dragging sound, traction sound, and platform door opening/closing sound →This will be an issue for future consideration.
・Multi-diamond selection function →This will be an issue for future consideration.
・Implementation of environmental sounds (boarding/exiting sounds, etc.) during station stops. →We have already implemented it on the Senseki Line, and will continue to study the possibility of implementing it on other lines.
・Implementation of train departure melodies and automatic announcement →We are still considering various hurdles to realize this system, and it is difficult to implement it as soon as possible. We will continue to consider various other approaches.
・In the Tokaido Line E233 Series 3000s, a whistle sound is made when the emergency brake is applied →This sound was recorded using an actual train car, and such sound is emitted during operation in a real environment as well. (Except for the 3000s, the structure is different, so we have corrected the operation sound in the recent uptate.)
・Please make it compatible with Linux and Steam Deck →We are sorry, but there are no plans to support them at this time, as they require zero-based development.
We are sorry that it is difficult for us to make any improvements or add new functions due to the current resource constraints. However, we do not deny the implementation itself, and we would appreciate your comments and suggestions.
We will continue our efforts to make the JR East Train Simulator loved by everyone!
