Sugriva and the Tribes of Kishkindha Karma Pass

Greetings Warriors!

Welcome to the biggest, wildest update of Kurukshetra: Ascension!

We are so grateful for your support and your patience through the bugginess of the last month. We had to make the tough call of avoiding quick updates and instead putting out some big new features that have been in the works!


New Hero: Sugriva, the Monkey King





Sugriva is a melee Hero who focusses on synergizing with his tribal Vaanars and Beasts to deal massive damage and disrupt his foes.

His abilities include a tail swipe so powerful that it can burn all enemies on the board, a spell that can grant flanking to reach ranged units and heroes with ease, a weapon that causes increased damage every time Sugriva hits the same target, and much more!

Karma Pass: Tribes of Kishkindha





Introducing the Karma Pass, Tribes of Kishkindha, our first season pass!

We wanted to simplify the user journey and track progress on one single metric – Karma. Much like the real ‘Karma’ of life, this metric tracks everything from matches played to quests completed to big bonuses for victory streaks! All rewards are now placed along a Season track, including gold, shards and even random cards! The Season will unfold over two months.

New League and Leaderboard System





Now players can compete against each other by earning Karma!

Players will be sorted into smaller leaderboards and ranked according to the total Karma they have gained over one week. At the end of each week, the players with the highest Karma gains will be promoted to the next league.

Ascending to a new league will award the player a one-time ascension reward and a bonus reward for staying in a league at the end of the season. Careful not to fall behind on your Karma as players with the lowest Karma might be demoted to a lower league!

Game Optimization and Balance Update

Greetings Everyone!

While we are aware that everyone is anxious to see the new Hero Sugriva in action, we've had to take a detour in development which we feel was critical in the long run of the game.

This detour we took was for Game Optimization and Balance Changes.

Game Optimization



Game Optimization means that we went deep into our game files and cleaned them up thoroughly. Think of it as a yearly deep clean of your home after which everything feels fresh and new.

We identified a few bottlenecks that were impacting game execution the most and restructured them.
The result should be a much better game performance especially on relatively lower end devices.

So, you can expect to see a much smoother gameplay!

Major Balance Changes



We have been closely monitoring the Hero Weapon meta that has developed in PvP.

While we intended weapons to be powerful, the ramp up to high amounts of weapon damage was easily achieved without any consequence and in most cases resulted in limiting the number of viable options for both players.

One of the biggest issues that came to light was that deploying most units generally became disadvantageous.

So, to address this core problem we've introduced a new Card Property: Disarm

New Property and Game Mechanics





Disarm: Returns enemy weapon to their hand. Removes all Weapon buffs.

Units with Disarm when deployed cause the enemy Hero's weapon to return to their hand.

Additionally, we have divided the Hero Damage modifiers in two parts:
1. Hero Buff
2. Weapon Buff

Spells and Powers which increase damage through Weapon Buff will be removed if disarmed.

For example, Weapon Enhancement (Vriddhi) is now a Weapon Buff. This means if a Hero used Weapon Enhancement but later gets disarmed, the +2 damage from it will be lost.

But Duryodhana's Spell Balarama's Blessing which gives +1 damage is now a Hero Buff and will not be affected by disarm.

All damage can still be reduced through poison.


Quests



While with these changes we hope to bring long term benefits to the game, due to this detour we have unfortunately not been able to revamp the new quest system.

Since the new quest system was designed to completely overhaul the existing one, we are at a stage where we cannot implement the old quest system.

This means that

No quests will be working till we release the next update



While we know this is not the best experience, we hope that everyone can be patient a little longer for the next update to bring in the new quest system.


Detailed List of Balance Changes



Card Properties

All status effects like Freeze, Bleed, Burn, Stun, etc. now apply on Heroes, but no longer stacks in intensity.



- Snipe's Soma cost from reduced to 3 from 4
- Arjuna's base damage increased to 2 from 1
- Chakra no longer Pierces but now has Concealed Weapon.
- Gandiva +2 spell damage passive should be working correctly.



- Balarama's Blessing cost increased to 1 (+1)
- Susharma stats updated to 4/2/5 from 5/2/6
- Trigarta Army's Soma cost increased to 7 from 6.
- Trigarta Units damage reduced to 2 from 3.
- Balachita now costs 4 Soma to deploy and 3 Soma to use. It no longer Smashes
- Ekasha now Double Smashes


- Kaundinya base damage reduced to 2 but it benefits from One Man Army passive again
- Pushpa Dhanu base dmg reduced to 3
- Barrage should no longer damage a unit if it already died during the spell
- Resolve now costs 1
- Royal Quartermaster now 3/1/4 from 3/2/4. Now gives +2 Soma
- River of Arrows Soma cost reduced to 7 from 8
- Cheat Death: Bhishma can no longer attack while Cheat Death is active.


- Fury now only effects Melee Units and Heroes
- Roar now costs 8 from 7, but can now fear Legendary Units
- Blacksmith stats now 2/1/2 from 1/1/2
- Charge now costs 3 from 2
- Sutasoma stats now 5/1/8 from 6/1/8



- Claws base damage is now 1 from 2
- Lash Out now only effects Melee Units and Heroes
- Tiny Rakshasa now has Bait
- Betrayal now costs 2 from 4
- Tataka stats now 4/0/5 from 4/0/7


- New Unit Added: Blademaster, 3 Soma Cost, Disarms.



- Fearsome Rakshasi stats now 3/0/4 from 4/0/4
- Desert Djinn now costs 3 from 4
- Rakshasa Boar Rider now costs 3 from 4
- Urumi Assassin stats now 3/1/5 from 3/1/6, now has Disarm
- Naga Axe Warrior now has Bleed.
- Prince now has Bleed.
- Saka Horse archer stats now 4/0/7 from 5/0/7
- Royal Guard stats now 4/2/8 from 5/2/7
- Boulder Giant stats now 6/1/4 and Smashes 1 from 5/1/5 Smashes 2

Hell Campaign Balance
- Dushasana's Sword: Damage reduced to 1 from 2
- Vatapi's Magic Staff: Damage reduced to 1 from 2
- Bakasura's Tree Trunk: Dmg reduced to 2 from 3
- Giant's Slam: Damage reduced to 2 from 3

Hotfixes for PvP, Targeting UX

Hotfix for some server desyncs on PvP and Ascension modes, especially for Arjuna's Gandiva.

Fixed targeting issues on Steam where drag-and-drop sometimes failed to initiate a move.

Story Campaign: Pataal (Underworld)

Paatal (Underworld), the next part of the Ascension Story is now open for purchase!

Embark upon a perilous journey through the underground caverns of Paatal and face enemies that will test your true strength.

The war in Meru has reached to these dark and mysterious caverns where factions of Garuda and Shesha have started to form. You must make your way through while battling bloodthirsty Assassins, mystical Yakshas and even the Nagas, who are Shesha's own brothers and sisters!

Will you pick a side yet? Or will you begin to impose your own will?

2. Enabled resync on the client when desyncs occur.

New Story Campaign: Ascension!

Ascension Campaign



The first chapter of the Ascension Campaign is now playable!

Begin your journey to Mount Meru where a war rages between the demigods, Shesha and Garuda.

Garuda fights for freedom as he seeks to break the cycle of time by preventing Kaliyuga from ending. Shesha, the guardian of destiny, believes that Garuda's actions will bring death and ruin to the entire universe and strives to preserve the sacred cycle.

Pick a side or forge your own path as you fight to make your way to Mount Meru.

Will you be the one to bring balance to the universe? Or will you let it plunge into chaos? Ascend now and make that choice!

Surpanakha


- Blood Rain no longer heals Hero
- Claw costs 1 Soma
- Demonic Shriek no longer Pierces
- Lash Out cost increased to 6

Arjuna


- Vritra's Bane will hit all units of the same health

Bhishma


- Kaundinya: Bhishma no longer benefits from One Man Army

Bheem


- Two handed Stance cost increased to 6
- Vrigodharam damage reduced to 5 and single smash

Duryodhana


- Balaram's Blessing is now usable on the Hero
- Sakthi Weapon: Deleted​
- New Weapon added, Balachita: +1 damage when an ally dies.

Gameplay Changes



- Casual and Ranked Duels have now been merged into one game mode.

The reason why we felt that this change was important was that while playing Casual Duels, it was possible for players who are new to the game to match against more experienced players which resulted in them losing badly. This leads to a poor experience for both the players. With this change we hope to bridge the gap between their Dharma rating in game and their actual skill level.

- Challenging a friend no longer gives any rewards or experience.

While we were not very comfortable on making this change, we had to go with it because it was possible to exploit this game mode to level up Heroes and earn currency very quickly. We will look into how we can make challenging a friend more exciting but for now we are sticking with this change.

Bug Fixes:
- Rewarded ads now correctly award gold when watched multiple times - gold rewards missed have been added to your account!
- Apsara can no longer charm high-health units
- Armour buffs/breaks immediately after unit deployment were causing issues
- Weapon enhancement now correctly buffs weapon damage
- Hero weapon properties now apply on opponent turn as well
