Military Outpost Archers and more Outpost Tweaks (0.25.6.1)

With the current patch, we provide significant tweaks in order to make sieging actions using Military Outposts more adequate and logical. Oh, we’ve also added the first combat NPCs (archers) that will help you to protect your Military Outposts! We will be evaluating how these new NPCs work out and based on the results we might increase the NPC presence in the game even further (both natives and guards).
We’ve implemented a couple of siege mechanic tweaks to prevent proxy guild sieges and fix some other siege related imbalances.

Patch Notes (ver. 0.25.6.1):

New Features and Tweaks:

  • Implemented archers in the Military Outposts. The amount of archers and their combat effectiveness depends on the number and quality of the slaves put into the Military Outpost. Archers are not designed to protect an outpost by themselves but they will provide a good addition to the live player-defenders firepower. Archers shoot only players that do not have “Can enter” access rights set to them - make sure to give these rights to your allies!
  • Implemented another protective measure for game client files. A full force protection system is planned in the next upcoming patches.
  • Fog is significantly reduced in certain types of weather.
  • "Claim Outpost" ability duration increased from 10 to 20 seconds.
  • "Stop Outpost Claiming" ability duration increased from 20 to 40 seconds.
  • "Claim Outpost" can now be used only by members of the guild that have initiated a Holy Judgment on this nearby outpost (the guild who made the targeted outpost vulnerable).
  • Military Outposts now give a LOT of property score to the guild owning them. This means any guild with a Military Outpost can expect to have at least Rank V.
  • Holy Judgment can now only be initiated on Military Outposts lvl 3 that can be placed anywhere or other types of lvl3 outposts that are neighboring to the owner’s Guild Monument
  • Your guild must have a Tier 3 or Tier 4 Monument in order to be able to initiate a Holy Judgment on outposts
  • Claiming ability cooldown is ignored on the outposts that are burning with Holy Judgment. That means that failed claiming attempts will not make these outposts unclaimable for the whole duration of the Holy Judgment.
  • NPC collisions are ignored during new construction and upgrades to buildings. This should no longer prevent the outposts and other buildings from being upgraded/constructed.
  • Amate-Maksha and Rob the Shoveler give significantly more points for the experience sacrifices to them
  • Updated Church and Wooden Gate models so they can no longer be climbed on
  • Added decorative shield premium decorations
  • Removed the possibility of getting polished gems while mining - only rough or raw gems can now be dropped while performing mining abilities
  • Removed regional granite from the game
  • Added a proper message if an outpost upgrade cooldown is active and if your outposts limit is reached
  • Added a proper message if trying to issue an IB while standing on your own province
  • Added Believer's Cooking Pot into Premium Shop
  • Removed doors on Trading Post outposts (now it is more similar to all the other outposts)
  • Tweaked the behavior of wild animals — now they should be slightly easier to tame and to kill
  • Switching between different trading posts is no longer available from the market
  • Added proper support of claim rules and unmovable objects' rules for all non-guild characters (as requested by players who wanted to give full access to their trading posts)
  • Changed behavior and attributes of most wild animals - all animals were slightly slowed down, damage was increased, HP were reduced:

    Aurochs Bull: HP 250 -> 200, lays down at low HP;
    Aurochs Cow: HP 180 -> 150, doesn't run away if you don't damage it;
    Bear: HP didn't change (450), doesn't run away at low HP anymore;
    Boar: HP 200 -> 120, lays down at low HP;
    Deer: HP 200 -> 150, behavior didn't change;
    Grouse: HP 15 -> 10, behavior didn't change;
    Hare: HP 15 -> 10, behavior didn't change;
    Hind: HP 120 -> 100, behavior didn't change;
    Moose: HP 300 -> 180, behavior didn't change;
    Mutton: HP didn't change (100), now attacks the character (!), lays down at low HP;
    Sow: HP 80 -> 50, doesn't run away if you don't damage it;
    Wild Horse: HP 180 -> 120, now attacks the character after receiving several hits on it, lays down at low HP;
    Wolf: HP 150 -> 80, doesn't run away at low HP anymore;

  • Only fiefs that are vulnerable by the Holy Judgment can be used to bombard enemy with trebuchets. Trebuchets projectiles that are fired from the safe fiefs will not deal damage.

Bug Fixes and Optimizations:

  • Fixed item delivery system via trading posts
  • Slightly tuned lags compensation algorithm in a favor of non lagging players
  • Animation glitch that appeared after players dismount is fixed now
  • Optimized internal algorithms of player skill calculations
  • Fixed a bug that would cause no unprocessed gems to be dropped in a couple of regions on the Godenland
  • Fixed a couple of rare bugs with remote outpost support payments
  • Fixed IB maps that had their respawns outside of the active battle zone. That caused inability of players on those respawns to act and participate in the battle and major IB lags.
  • Fixed hotbar hotkey captions
  • Fixed the bug that resulted in unavailability of Slaughter button in coops, barns and stables
  • Fixed inability to jump into Trade post closed off section for male characters
  • Fixed gathering in Native Camps and Starting villages on Godenland - now you can properly gather on them
  • Added back the warning displayed when using Decorator's Kits
  • Fixed a bug that sometimes caused players to automatically switch from first-person view to third-person view

(Dev News #151) Events, Streamers and Steady Progress

Hey, Feudalists!

This week we have continued working on fixes and tweaks for a patch, however, we have encountered some obstacles, due to which we are now forced to postpone the patch. We are hoping to roll it out next week, so stay tuned! Thank you for your understanding and patience.

Yesterday we had maintenance on Illa Newydd archipelago, also known as Newbie Islands. Newcomers can now enjoy the world as good as new, so if you were looking forward to starting over with a new character or inviting your friends to join — now is the best time to do that! Also, as you remember, the access to Newbie islands is now free for everyone.

Also, this weekend we are happy to announce an offer on Premium Subscription — you can get it with a great discount up to 25% off!

Next weekend there is a user-run event planned on Godenland, courtesy of Alexejcraft of Clergy guild — Feudalists and Peasants Meeting.

The Clergy guild would like to invite guild leaders, noble feudalists, peasants, and everyone else to Feudalists and Peasants Meeting event!

After losing the caravan, the Crown was devastated. But the Clergy was still there, and, wishing to help the Crown, offered to organize a designated embassy in order to protect further supplies to those in need.

The crown agreed to the construction, but could not allocate people to help, so the Superior Monk, along with the monks set to work on their own.

Wishing to bring a little bit of peace and understanding to the brutal world of Abella, the Clergy are inviting you to take part in this congress and to take part in following activities:

  • Farmers’ Market (encouraging small guilds come and sell their goods, and the vendor with the best quality product will get a reward!)
  • Job Fair - calling out the best recruiters, as well as young specialists looking to join a guild (the best recruiters and the best young specialist will receive a special prize!)
  • Guild Leaders’ Lobbies for negotiations and creating alliances and vassalage
  • Weddings, and more fun! (psst, if you and your significant other were looking for a place to be wed, this is the perfect opportunity!)

The event will take place on April 20th, on server 63 on Godenland, and will be streamed on Alexejcraft’s Youtube channel. In the meantime, you can join the Clergy guild Discord.

We will share more details about the event on our Discord and social media, so stay tuned!

Moving on to players initiatives, we wanted to share some beautiful screenshots from streamer feudalist Zagwar:

Thanks a lot for sharing those wonderful snaps with us!

If you also happen to be a streamer or a content creator who makes videos about LiF, tutorials or streams, please contact Elizabeth (Laskin)#7217 or Catherine Chudinova#3714 on Discord, if you want to be featured on Steam Broadcasts on LiF:MMO main page as well as our other social media! We look forward to hearing from you!

That’s all for today, happy weekend!

(Dev News #150) Fog, Fixes, Outposts

Hey, Feudalists!

As mentioned in previous dev news, this week we also stayed focused on fixing the bugs and tweaking existing gameplay in weekly patches. Today’s patch is dedicated mostly to the outposts. We have determined that outposts should not completely replace the extraction of resources, but should simplify the gathering of regional items, or the gathering of resources that are difficult to reach in a particular area, such as sand and clay by increasing production rates for these resources. Having that in mind, we have tweaked some production rates of the outposts. You can find what has changed in the patch notes.

Among other fixes and tweaks here and there, in this patch we have packed shader, localization and EULA files into packs to prevent their alteration on the client side — this also includes removal of the fog. However, we hear your concerns that the fog makes it uncomfortable to play on certain screen setting adjustments, and would like to let you know that our art team is now looking into how the fog can be redesigned so that everyone can play comfortably regardless of their display settings.

We will continue focusing on tweaks and fixes in the next patches, just as planned, thank you, everyone, for your reports!

In other news, this week we have a whole three guilds who have beat the 0.2.0 challenges.

Askanjeros Zwirblers have cleared the My House is My Keep Challenge by having built a Wooden Keep.

BarBariaNs have also beat this challenge by building a Castle Keep.

And Evil Forces guild were the first ones to complete the Pillars of Community challenge.

The ‘My House is My Keep’ challenge is officially beat now as all the Keeps have been built.
We’d like to congratulate the guilds for completing the challenges and are looking forward to new victories!

In case you missed, last Friday we had a very productive session with Bobik and Binart and community representatives from various guilds all across Abella and the world. We would like to thank everyone once again for coming and taking part in the conversation. A lot of things were discussed, and suggestions and ideas have been noted by our team and this has kindled a discussion among our game design team, so, stay tuned!

You can check the stream recording from Diddly Dale, who has kindly agreed to host the AMA, here.

That’s all for this week, have a great weekend!

(Dev News #149) Fixes, Counselors, and AMAs

Hey, Feudalists!

As you have already noticed by the patch released earlier today, this week we have decided to focus on fixing existing bugs and improving the gameplay experience.

That being said, new features are on temporary hold for another couple of future patches until we squash the annoying bugs that are there and tweak some of the existing gameplay features based on your feedback and our research.

Among other tweaks in today’s patch, we have removed force fields from Green Zones. Those of you who are settled there, please keep that in mind. From now on you can use the ‘Trespassers!’ ability and banish trespassers from your claim this way.

A bit later today we will have an AMA session dedicated to 0.2.5 features, as well as the ideas and features for future updates. Don’t forget to drop in to check it out, here are some streamers that are going to broadcast the event:

Dale: (EN)
Starbux TV: (EN)
-Ahyo - CRP: (PL)
Rusich: (RU)
Portucale: (PT)

In other news, this week Vanirs Expedition guild has cleared another challenge. They were the first ones to conquer a province from another guild, thus completing the ‘Kneel Before Us’ challenge. Congratulations!

There is another feudalist we would like to honor today — FedorFresh, aka Xypc Ochir. At the moment he is an absolute champion counselor with 75 (as for the date this devnews is published) successfully graduated students. We couldn’t pass the opportunity to chat with Fedor and share the interview with you.

Hello, Fedor! Can you tell us a bit about yourself, when did you start playing LiF, what guild are you in and what’s your job in the guild?

I started playing 4 years ago, and I used to be a nomad as I like to wander and explore the world and meet new people. I have created a guild called Hurs Horde where I recruit new players and teach them the basics of the game.

Why did you decide to take up counseling in the first place? How did it all begin?

At first I was interested in gold, however, soon enough it has become more of a hobby to me, as I found myself enjoying helping new people and passing my experience along to newcomers more than just the gold.

How do you usually find your students?

Most of the time I just receive PMs from newbies. I also tend to help not only those on Illa-Newd, but also people who are already on Abella, and looking for some advice.

Wow, that’s really nice of you! What are the most common questions? What takes the most time to be explained to new players?

Usually, most ask questions about how to throw stones. It also requires the most time to explain.

Are there any challenging students? How do you tackle difficulties?

In the hardest cases, the best thing to do is get in touch on Discord and do some screen sharing.

How do your students express their gratitude?

Most share that they are very thankful for the information and the time I take to educate them about the game.

After graduation, do your students join your guild or any other ones?

Even though my guild is fairly new, there are some graduates who have joined. However, it is not my intention to recruit them, it’s always up to these players to decide whether to join or to go someplace else.

Is there anything you could recommend to a counselor-to-be?

A good counselor always puts their desire to help people first. If you’re in it for the gold, you will probably not succeed.

Thank you so much for sharing your experiences!

The last, but not the least — look out for the War Axe skins offer that’s coming to the Premium Store this weekend. Get 25% off these gorgeous skins and emphasize your power!

That’s all for this week, have a great weekend feudalists!

Update 0.2.5 is Out! (0.25.0.5)

Well, the title says it all - update 0.2.5 is here at last! We expect this update should make getting started and beginning your adventures much easier, adding more immersion and also unlocking majestic town patterns for architects! Make sure to read all the information in the patch notes below!

Patch Notes (ver. 0.25.0.5):

New Features and Tweaks:

  • You can now sacrifice your combat and crafting experience to the gods via idols and altars. This sacrifice will also add to your points in the rankings for the god you’ve sacrificed your XP to. If you happen to be in the top 100 players for the god when Makthrid elections start - you will get a blessing that will increase the speed of skill increases for the skills that current god governs!
  • You can now increase a fief with your guild monument and all fiefs that neighbor this fief. Fief increase will increase its size by 1 tile in all directions. This means that once you increase 2 neighboring fiefs you will remove the stripe of neutral tiles between them effectively connecting those two fiefs for your construction desires!
  • New type of outpost implemented - Military Outpost. These outposts can be used as Rally bind points and can be built on any unclaimed fief, no matter where the guild’s monument and its other fiefs are located. We plan to add NPC archers to these outposts in following patches.
  • Implemented climbing! If you approach terrain or objects that are too steep to traverse normally, your character will start climbing automatically. You need to make sure that you’re in a peaceful stance and facing the slope with your character. Works for the surfaces angled between 45 and 75 degrees. Anything vertical or close to be vertical cannot be climbed.
  • Siege ladders and siege platforms are implemented. Only these types of objects can be constructed, moved and dropped on enemy fiefs during JH. Combined with the new climbing system this should create more realistic looking raids and sieges! Siege ladders, siege platform and sapper charges can now be dropped on the ground without them turning into a bag the way as it was working before.
  • You can now use God’s Coins to pay for your monuments and outposts maintenance.
  • You can use God’s Coins to support your outposts (or any other guild outpost if you were given the right to) remotely via the Guild Monument ability.
  • Outpost and monument maintenance base price has been decreased (from 0.2 copper coins per tile per in-game day to 0.15)
  • Multipliers for higher level outposts and monuments have been significantly decreased:
    Lvl 3 outpost and monument - multiplier changed from x10 to x8
    Lvl 4 monument - multiplier changed from x24 to x16
  • Significantly boosted Natives’ loot. There's a much higher probability for them to drop unique loot items that can be sold to the Crown.
  • Added the Hour of Inspiration booster that can be bought in the Premium shop to get a temporary Inspired Work effect (abilities can be performed 20% faster)
  • Animals in stables, barns, and coops should no longer die for any reason unless they contract disease caused by the lack of hygiene (stables are dirty) or simply of an old age. There should be no random unexpected deaths to other reasons.
  • Plants will no longer lose their quality due to improper crop rotation
  • A month of the free Inspired Work boost from the Pioneer's amulet has passed. Pioneer’s amulets are no longer providing any special bonuses.
  • Added visually different textures for whitewood and amberwood logs

Bug Fixes and Optimizations:

  • Fixed some rare server node crashes
  • Fixed a bug with per object rules overriding “can build” access for players making some abilities inaccessible. That should make it possible to upgrade some outposts that were not upgradable before.
  • Trading Post support points should now show correct values
  • Fixed Cultural Onion, both types of grapes, some grains and some vegetables that were not working correctly in some cases
  • Fixed Cultural flax harvested quantity
  • Weaver’s Toolkits can now be repaired
  • Fixed Thick leather recipes. Any Thick or Thin leather should be available in the simple recipes list.
  • Fixed a bug where you could become a student of your own school.
  • Brewed Honey should now be available in the kitchen cooking recipes

NOT 0.2.5 time yet. But it is time to go after the provinces! (0.20.10.1)

As it often happens we’ve stumbled upon some bugs in new systems that we have been developing for the LiF:MMO 0.2.5 update. This will forces us to delay its release for next week. The good news is, that this patch contains a lot of good fixes and effectively unlocks the province rush. IB totems now costs “only” 10 Gold Coins instead of 50 as it was before! Go grab some provinces to get taxes coming in and start generating a return on your expenses!

Patch Notes (ver. 0.20.10.1):

New Features and Tweaks:

  • Instanced Battle Totem cost significantly reduced to only 10 Gold Coins (from 50)
  • All Jewelry can now be sold to the Crown
  • Added guilds JH schedule page in the guild dashboard that can be accessed by everyone to see when guilds will have active JHs
  • Added confirmation messages before the initiation of outpost upgrades to avoid accidental outpost upgrades
  • Updated Instanced Battle informational messages, who sees them and when
  • Enemies and everyone who does not have “Can build” access rights should no longer be able to initiate the upgrade of your outposts. Though they are still allowed to manage it and steal the production from it.
  • Fixed usability of
  • *Improper Honey** recipe. It can be cooked in the kitchen now.

Bug Fixes and Optimizations:

  • Fixed fief and objects access rules messed up after crossing server node borders
  • Fixed many issues that appeared upon reconnection and some server node crossing bugs.
  • Fixed commission calculation bugs in the Market interface
  • Fixed claim rules management for Trade Posts
  • Outpost max support points visual text should be correct now and show the actual amount of max support points that can be added to it
  • Gems should now drop properly when mining ores
  • Fixed proper skill calculations when not using an active premium subscription
  • Server node border crossings should not cause visual skill raise bugs anymore
  • Fixed the seeding and harvest of Cultural Onions bug
  • Both types of Grape harvests should work properly now

(Dev News #147) Climbing towards 0.2.5 and Celebrating Players’ Initiatives

Hey, Feudalists!

This week we continue to work on features for 0.2.5, however, we have encountered some bugs in some of these new systems that we’ve been developing for the patch. As we focus on squashing those bugs, sadly, the release date of 0.2.5 is now pushed back to next week. Apologies for the delay, we just want to make sure that everything is working smoothly as possible in 0.2.5.

And thus we have released a patch with fixes and a couple of tweaks, including an IB monument price drop, which we hope will kindle wars for provinces. You can read the full patch notes here. Now, go and conquer those provinces, and in case you forgot how the conquering mechanics works in 0.2.0, don’t forget to check our guide to 0.2.0!

In the meantime, we would like to show you what we are working on, lo and behold the first look at

climbing.

Please tell us how you liked it, we are looking forward to hearing your feedback, and we absolutely cannot wait for you to try it when 0.2.5 is released.

This week we have two 0.2.0 challenges completed, and both by one guild!
We would like to congratulate Vanirs Expedition guild with accomplishing ‘Build a Small Keep’ and ‘Veni, vidi, vici'. Keep up the good work!

In other news, we are happy to announce that player-run events are back!
On March 19 the first ever player-driven PvE and Arena event - organized by our fellow feudalist Device - shall commence!
The event will last for 5 days and end on March 23 at 23:59 (your local time).

During these 5 days there are going to be chosen the best PvE players in the following specialities - Farmer, Blacksmith, Forester, Carpenter, Gatherer and a Digger.
The event will also determine the best Arena players in 3 classes: Berserkers (two-handed weapon), Swordsmen (shield and one-handed weapon) and Spearmen.

The best of the best are going to receive great prizes, provided by lifdamage.online and the LiF Team. Find more info about the event on Device’s webpage.
All you need to do is upload your logs, just like in any other of Device’s events. You can find the detailed instructions how to do it here.
May the best feudalists win!

* Please keep in mind that this is a player-run event so the team makes no guarantees that this event will be peacefully executed. Always be prepared! Life is feudal, afterall…

And tomorrow there is another event organized by our player Alexejcraft - The Caravan of the Clergy. You can read more about it in our Discord MMO events channel. Come and join!

Another feudalist who also happens to be a content creator, Papai Krestovi4, has launched a contest on his channel — he is willing to giveaway his old city of Forrestville on Epleland to a new owner. Check out his video (it has English subtitles in it) and take part in the contest, and maybe you will become the owner of Forrestville and bring glory and fame to it!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JhQK3ZG_U_I&feature=youtu.be

The last, but definitely not the least and a surprising piece of player’s creativity that we were happy to receive this week is from Yarthos. A remix of one of LiF MMO soundtracks. Grab your earphones and check out the dubstep take on folk music from the game:

*Turn your volume down* Dubstep take on folk music from the game

That’s all for this week, have a great weekend!

(Dev News #146) New Horizons, Spears and Treasures

Hey, Feudalists!

This week we have released a patch with a bunch of important bug fixes and some tweaks based on your feedback.

Now, let us tell you more about the 0.2.5 patch we are focused on that is scheduled for next week. Based on your feedback and our research, we have come out with some new features and tweaks, and would like to tell you more about them this week:

<*>Skill raise bonus for the favorites of gods. Along with common sacrifices and activities players will be able to sacrifice experience to our gods. During the Archimankur and Makthrid elections, the top 100 player-favorites of each god will get an increased speed of XP to skill points conversion for the next day.

<*>Fief size increase. You will be able to spend certain amounts of precious metals in order to increase the size of your fief by 1 tile in all directions. If you upgrade two neighboring fiefs in this manner, that will effectively remove the neutral tiles line between them and will allow you to build the bigger towns and castles without being afraid that certain parts will decay!

<*>Military outpost. The only type of outpost that can be constructed on any distant fief. Slightly cheaper to construct and upgrade, though still will require a certain amount of effort. This outpost does not produce anything. Consider it to be the main guild vs guild offensive outpost. Overseer and slaves will act as archers and will attack any player that does not have “Can enter” access set on the fief.

<*>IB totem price lowered to 10 Gold Coins. In combination with a cheaper level 3 Military outpost, this should kick start the global wars for provinces.

<*>Centralized outpost support payments and God’s Coins can be used to pay the upkeep. You will be able to use God’s Coins to pay for your monument and outposts. Also, you will be able to open the interface on your Guild Monument that will show the list of all your guild outposts. This interface will allow you to pay for their support remotely.

<*>Significantly lowered support costs for all levels of monuments and outpost. To reduce the grinding pressure on our players.

<*>Boosted loot quality from natives. Both guaranteed and random drop loot from natives will be significantly increased to make Native villages more rewarding to raid or to ambush those who are raiding ;)

<*>Inspired work booster. We’ve promised that settlers of Godenland will have the Pioneer amulet for a month. We are going to allow these amulets to remain with their owners, but the special effect of this amulet that allowed you to perform all activities 20% faster will be removed. We’re going to implement a premium shop booster that will temporarily provide the player with the same effect.

<*>Last but not the least… climbing mode and siege ladders! You will not be stuck in the bug/death pits, or high in the mountain pockets. The same climbing mode will allow you to use steep siege ladders to scale the walls! No more barkboxes and sleeping bags - but proper siege ladders and siege platforms!

As many of you are well aware - we had a spur of the moment PvP AMA in our Discord a week ago about “barkboxing” into enemy castles outside of JH. The result of this AMA was a poll that was running for an about the week.
“Do you want to change the rules on the Godenland in a way, that you and other players will BE ABLE to drop movable objects (bark boxes for instance) on an enemy fief OUTSIDE of JH hours in order to get over walls and raid?”
With over 5000 votes cast we have the following results:
Yes - 42.4%
No - 57.6%

We agree with the majority that it is good to have relative safety inside the perimeter of your walls outside of JH. We have also not forgotten the PVP hungry players and have a sweet treat for them too - new siege ladders should make it possible to get over palisade and stone walls EVEN if they’re placed on top of a heavily terraformed slope! That means that during JH almost all types of fortifications will be vulnerable to assaults using these siege ladders and the brave warriors that use them to get in and wreak havoc!

This weekend we’re introducing brand new Boar Spear skins in the store at 25% off. The Boar spear is the heaviest of the spears, and it deals the biggest damage of them all.
Due to its fine balancing, it also has a quick swing, which will benefit you on the battlefield, in the Arena or out in the wild on a hunt.
It’s easy to build starting from level 30 Weaponsmithing, and now you can decorate it to your liking at a special price!

Speaking of hunting and more - this week the Treasure hunt event is in full swing, and we were blessed to see so many of you participating and exploring the vast map for these chests. If for some reason you haven't joined the fun yet - don’t waste another second, and stay tuned to our Discord for instructions and hints!
If you have any feedback on the Treasure Hunt event or suggestion about the future events, please message the LiF team about it!

Have a great weekend!
