Hi everyone! Spring is really starting to make its presence felt, and our new update, 1.13, has been in the works for a couple of months already. We've decided to set the release date for next week, so letβs dive right into the details.
Wipe & Update on March 27 at 10 AM UTC
We've scheduled the game update for next Wednesday. The reason for a mid-week update is to ensure the update is live well before the Easter holidays. This timing gives us the next full day to address the most critical issues that may arise with the update. Additionally, we're excited to introduce new cosmetics and possibly even a new tackle box filled with Spring-themed items!
This update significantly reworks the building system, and as a result, we will be wiping progress on all official servers. We strongly recommend that unofficial servers do the same. This means all houses, placeables, and player progress will be reset, and everyone will start fresh, similar to servers that have "Monthly Wipe" in their name.
You can already get a sneak peek of the new update in our experimental build. Here's a guide on how to get involved:
Please use our Discords channel's π§ͺ-experimental-longvinter channel to report bugs and talk about the update!
To access the experimental servers go to Steam -> Library -> Right click Longvinter -> Properties-> Betas -> set experimental-public
Devlog #42
Welcome to our latest devlog! This week, we've been hard at work planning for the upcoming 1.13 update, and we're thrilled to share that the key features are now finalized and ready to go into development!
What's New in 1.13
Customization
We're excited to build upon the new item system introduced in the 1.12 update. This system offers us greater flexibility in game code, and we're ready to leverage its full potential in the next update, starting with boat customization. You'll soon be able to personalize your dinghies, equip them with motors and storage boxes, and even color them in one of seven unique shades!
We're also working on customizable weapon attachments, which will alter your weapon's handling, damage, spread, bullet velocity, and laser aiming.
Moreover, we're introducing a coloring station where you can use paints (also a new addition in the upcoming update) to color all new placeable items in seven vibrant hues currently offered partially in the Allotment garden set. Here are the colors we have planned: White, Charcoal, Blue, Red, Yellow, Mint, and Blush.
New House Upgrades
We're also eager to expand the upgrade options for the new cabin. The planned upgrades will provide players with more advantages than just an ordinary cabin, but won't include code lock protection, making all stored items vulnerable to raids by other players. This is part of our strategy to balance gameplay between those who enjoy raiding and those who prefer the existing system. All new upgrades will necessitate at least one cabin placed on the map before other structures can be added.
Water Mill - A water-based upgrade featuring a waterwheel for power generation and storage. (Raidable)
Storefront/Trading Post - An extension of the vending machine offering more role-play and player engagement opportunities. This upgrade will also come with an overhaul of the cooking system, introducing status effects for complex recipes. (Not raidable)
Gallery - An accessible building where players can display their prized trophies and items. (Raidable)
Mining Rig - Extract ores from the ground. (Raidable)
Spring Biome
As we approach summer, we're also bringing Spring to Longvinter Island in the next update. Spring will introduce its own art style, a new wood type, and a unique flower to the biome.

Map Making Program
Last week we announced the launch of modding for all players, and now we're introducing a custom map making program! You'll be able to create your own map and submit it for inclusion in the game. Detailed instructions for creating custom maps and the criteria for their acceptance can be found in our Map Tutorial. Remember, the program does not have a deadline, so you can submit your creations at your leisure once it launches.
We will be posting the custom map submission link to our Discord channel's π§-modding channel together with details what to submit.
For any discussions, queries or brainstorming sessions with fellow modders and developers, head over to our Discord server at https://discord.com/invite/longvinter. You can find us in the π§-modding channel.

Devlog #41
Welcome to our first Friday Devlog of 2024, and a joyous New Year to all! With the dawn of a new year in Longvinter, we're excited to unfold some big plans for our updates in the upcoming months. Stay tuned, as we'll be sharing more about our future plans in next week's devlog. Now, let's jump into some thrilling news about modding!
Modding Tools are Now Available to the Public!
We're thrilled to announce that our modding tool is now publicly accessible! This means you no longer have to fill out forms and wait for approval. The initial reason for limiting access was to prevent an influx of issues, but now that we've resolved all major problems, you can download the project directly from:

Custom Map Contents
We initially aimed to make custom maps a reality through modding. Unfortunately, we haven't been able to realize this yet. However, we're launching a contest for the best maps that will be included in the main version of the game! We will soon provide a form to apply for the mapping contest.
Moreover, we are introducing a fresh Spring biome that you can utilize when designing your map. But in the meantime, here is a tutorial on creating custom maps and the requirements for their inclusion in the game. Map Tutorial

Gift Boxes & New Shop
Longvinter in Jingle Jam Charity
First, I want to wish all of you a very good start to December. I have some exciting news to disclose. Firstly, Longvinter is participating in a charity event where you can donate to any charity and receive a collection of games, including Longvinter. All the money goes towards the charities. The link to the event is here: [Jingle Jam Charity]
More Customization
You've been asking for more customization options, and we're delivering. Going forward, you will receive compendium outfits for each type of compendium: Farming, Fishing, and Hunting. The Cooking outfit is still in production but will arrive after December. Once you've unlocked all items in a given compendium, the outfit will appear in your inventory, and you can equip it from the newly renamed 'Shop & Customize' screen in the menu.
We've also added custom backpacks, other clothing items, new faces, and hats. More details on how to achieve them in the next chapter.
Pictures of few:
New Item Shop & Vintercoins
As mentioned earlier, there's now a new item shop accessible from the customize menu.
Here, you can buy items to wear while adventuring on Longvinter Island. Vintercoins, a currency you can buy with your Steam wallet, are also introduced. Additionally, you'll earn 500 Vintercoins by playing about 30 minutes daily. Players who have previously played Longvinter can retroactively redeem Vintercoins based on their playtime. Note that your games library must be public to achieve this.
Some items are only obtainable from tackle boxes, which drop randomly as you play. These can be opened with keys available in the shop, purchasable with Vintercoins β so no real-world money is needed to obtain and open tackle boxes.
Free Tackle Boxes
Starting today, you'll also receive Christmas edition Tackle Boxes that don't require keys to open. Simply click on them in your inventory in character creation to open them!
1.12 Retrospective
I want to take a moment to review the initial launch of the 1.12 update and address the issues experienced in the first week. This was the largest overhaul we've done since the game's initial launch, and it will be the last major overhaul of a singular system. The reason for the overhaul was to allow more customization of items and placeables. Now, each item can have unique values, so we don't need to create multiple instances of the same item with minor differences. We can also now store states, like a mini turret battery state, which persists even if you pick it up to relocate. Server lag issues are our top priority, and the item shop and customization shop were completed before we launched 1.12, even to the experimental branch.
Thank you for being patient, and we'll return next week with another bug fix update!
Help us nominate Longvinter for Steam Awards
Hello everyone,
It's been over a year since Longvinter was released, and we're thrilled to share that we're still hard at work on our beloved game. As you may know the last week has been quite eventful with the game regarding the bugs and issues. Thankfully the most crucial parts have now been fixed.
We believe that getting nominated for the Steam Awards would be a fantastic opportunity to introduce our game to a wider audience. We're aiming for the "Labor of Love" award category because we've been consistently delivering updates and improvements to the game. We've received messages from many players expressing their appreciation for the direction we're taking Longvinter, and we're grateful for their support.
Now we are asking our community to help us get nominated to the steam awards which will be held December 2023.
WINNERS ANNOUNCED JAN 2ND @ 10AM PACIFIC.
Thank you, Uuvana Team

1.12 Cooking Update
I hope you all are enjoying a wonderful autumn. We are extremely excited to hear your thoughts on the new cooking system and the many other changes I'm about to present. Additionally, we have prepared a video detailing these changes, which you can watch below.
New Item System
The reason for the necessary wipe in this update was due to the complete overhaul of the item system. This new system allows our items to have unique properties while they are in the inventory. It enables dynamic foods, which are included in this update, and paves the way for exciting future additions such as weapon attachments, paints for placeables, and battery-powered turrets. Additionally, this update should eliminate most duplication issues, as every item now has a unique ID that tracks its origin.
New Cooking System:
Meals now require a category of item rather than something specific
The Cooking Book contains a list of craftable items and essential recipes
Some hidden recipes are learnable only by studying a Cooking Recipe
If an ingredient imparts an effect or buff, it is transferred to the finished dish. Note: A dish can only hold one effect or buff at a time
Consumption of another food with the same status effect is restricted until the current one expires
Foods that provide more than 35 Energy initiate a cooldown period before subsequent consumption. This cooldown duration is proportional to the food's energy content, with an indicator displayed on the bottom left of your screen
New Items:
12 new plant items and seeds to grow them
30 new dishes with various
Binocular
Sawed-off Shotgun
Lumberjack Hat
Heavy Combat Helmet
Laser Rifle
Guide Book with all new in-game tutorials

A new island, located south of the map and featuring a boss NPC, has been added. Defeating this boss provides an opportunity to obtain the Heavy Combat Helmet.

Resolved an issue preventing the "comeback achievement" from being attained
Addressed the Greenhouse plant bug: Previously, when placing two different plant species in the greenhouse and harvesting when ready, the system would return only one type of plant.
Added a maximum value of 100 000 MK cap for the Weather Machine
Fixed a delay issue where solar panels with batteries took an extended time to establish an electrical connection
Official servers can no longer be accessed via direct IP connection
Eliminated duplicate entries of official servers in the server browser
All trees placed in Heisala can now be chopped down without triggering safe zone turrets
A bug causing hats and cosmetics to disappear upon login has been fixed
An issue where the mouse would lose focus when opening the inventory, requiring an extra click to interact with items, has been resolved
A bug where long pressing to sell all would not work has been fixed
A bug where placing a boat between land and another boat in water would cause the boat to jump and glitch into the ground, allowing it to be used on land, has been resolved
Fixed an issue allowing players to wear hats without completing the compendium
Server Name Display on the main menu: Limited to 20 characters with "..." to prevent overflow
Addressed an issue where servers would disappear from the server browser but remain playable
