Big roads


Lost Region becomes more and more complex, and since the world map becomes bigger it will not look like countryside far from civilization, even though civilization is kind of dying. We want to make locations more realistic, so there will be a highway, which can be used for multiple purposes, but one of the main things is if you are moving closer or through highway you will reach the point of interest. Highways will be used to connect all of the locations, so even if you are lost, just find the highway. The work is in progress, we've finished the map scheme, and our 3D designers already working on the content for the highways, including roads, streetlights traffic lights, etc.

Raid planner


Something that we wanted to make better in terms of quality of life, a raid planner will allow you actually to plan what you want to get from the raid, it will work like a self-organized quest (which if you fail will not give you any penalties of course). You will be able to choose what items you want to get, and the amount, and upon completion, you will be notified. The raid planner can be always modified, so don't worry about being stuck with 5/6 bottles of water line in your HUD.

Small details


At this time we are working on small details on levels. For example, a fire extinguisher can be used classically, just shoot at it and deal some damage all around it and totally ruin your and enemies' vision. Or, you can pick it up and use it as an improvised weapon, get rid of fire, or place it somewhere and use option one.
In short, we are working on new small details that can be used during scavenge operations. Dangerous explosives, toxic gas, an ordinary fire extinguisher, and a lot more will be placed around the world for You to use.

New parameter Energy


Energy is a parameter that will show you how tired is your current merc. You will still be able to run around scavenge and complete quests, but your efficiency will be slightly lower, or much lower if you will not rest for 3 days in a row. There will be more dependencies on energy later, bringing more of a tactical view before long raids. If this base can offer such a service, all of the parameters, satiety, energy, hydration, health, and stamina will regenerate on the player's base.

Base update status. Greenhouse LVL 3


Here is another sneak peek of the player's base. As you might remember greenhouse allows you to fix the issue with food, greenhouse level 3 is not only much better in a production sense, but it will also allow you to grow specific herbs and plants, some of which can be used in medicine or other drug related things. The upgraded greenhouse will also demand electricity, so be sure to close that question first. The greenhouse upkeep is limited, so you will need to choose and with that, the planner will be handy, we will share more details about the planner and base management of future weekly reports.

Update. Knocked out condition


We want to boost the group gameplay and knocked out is one of the things we are implementing to make group gameplay more interesting. As a common role for the knocked-out condition your ally can help you, strangers also will be able to help even your enemies, if they want something from you that they can't actually take from your corpse, will be able to help you. Knocked out the condition will not allow you to operate normally, you will be able to crawl and scream for help, new NPCs that we are working on too may help you as well. We also wanted to bring more options to survive, because of losing your merc. will be a painful, especially skilled one. So by all means keep them safe.

Advanced home


Last week we've been showing you a greenhouse, and today we are showing you another green hose. That is to show that you will be able to upgrade your base and modernize it. It will boost the efficiency of the base building. For advanced greenhouse for example, not only it will become bigger, which on its own increases the outcome, but it will also unlock new types of plants to be planted. It will need electricity though, so before upgrading be sure to provide everything it might need.

Ability system


The unreal engine has a very useful tool, the ability system. This week we were working on moving all aspects of the game to this system, it will allow us to be able to enable, disable, boost, and debuff players' possibilities. For instance, if your merc is well fed and happy, he will have HP regen, of course, it is not as efficient as simply healing yourself with the med kit, but it will allow saving some of the med kit percentages. Overall the ability system will allow us to reward players for keeping their mercs in good condition and boost them because the ability system will be a part of the leveling system. Which is another teaser leveling system!

Survive and create a home


We've been working on new elements of the world and on new elements for the player's base as you know human needs 3 things to survive. Food, water, and medicine, with greenhouse players will be able to obtain food without the need to go out and loot it. Of course, you still need water for the plants and electricity for the upgraded green hose (we will show the upgraded version in future updates). The greenhouse will provide not only food but herbs that you will be able to use as medicine, for that you will need a chemical station, medicine is very rare in a world where there is no production, so you might want to make a profit from it because the medicine will be very expensive.

Alarms


Another asset and another feature for the base, as you now see the base will be something precious and you don't want someone to still something from you. For this reason, you will have an alarm system with loudspeakers, they will not only be used to create alarming sounds when there is something wrong but also as a notification system not only for the player's base but for hubs as well. You might want to listen to them carefully, you might not want to miss the notification, who knows when the next air raid would come...

Compass and UI


Today we want to share a little information about how the navigation from the player's perspective will work. First of all, the map already has a lot of details and yet more to come to make every location unique, so remembering the location will be a much easier task.
Compass will be a tool that can be picked up, it will unlock the usage of the UI compass, so you will now see the compass UI, so it gives you a hint about how most of the UI will be working currently. To unlock specific UI you will need a tool for that. So if you want to look at the map you will need to have one or draw it yourself.
The compass was the first step in this line of work and we are planning to do more, our main goal is to make as many tools as we can, and make them as useful as it could. So next time when you see a pack of play cards doesn't scrap it or throw it away, maybe play some card games with your friends.

Map rework


As you may know, we were migrating from UE4 to UE5 and one of the UE5 benefits is Lumen, which allows you to get a pretty awesome view in terms of light and environment, once we saw how our game could look with UE5 we decided to rework the map. Unfortunately, it is a complex task, because the UE5 also provides a system called world partition, and to make it work we need to revisit every level and make changes.
So right now our goal is to finish the migration of the world map and once it is done we can start to work with the levels.

Construction


Our 3D designers continue to bring new assets to LR, and meanwhile, we can share some details regarding the new player base system. First of all, the new base will be an actual base, a safe place that you can decorate and make as comfy as you want, but other than that the base is also your main asset, in order to get better raiding options and more options you will need to invest in your base. The would-be a living center of your operations, NPCs that will be busy doing small and not really significant stuff, and your soldiers/mercenaries who are always ready for the new tasks you might have for them. Overall, bases will be something that players can call home.

Optimization and cleaning


This week we've mostly been cleaning the mess in code and we're fixing some of the issues that came
up. Also, we've moved almost all of the basic character mechanics to the ability system, it will ensure the batter control over character actions and attributes. Also, it allows us to actually add a more advanced RPG system, so you will be able to level your characters and make them unique in terms of their skills and abilities.

Fuel and electricity


As you may know during the global crisis many regular things become unavailable. Fuel and electricity are two of many things we might lose because of apocalypses. This is one of the parts of the implementation of the player base. Power generators will provide electricity for players' bases and other buildings that might have locked sealed doors, or hidden bunkers and to be able to open them you'll need to find a way to turn on the power generators. Or perhaps repairing the dam would be a better way?

Lost Region moves to F2P


Don't worry folks, those who already bought the game will have huge bonuses worth 60$. Those who didn't buy the game will be able to try it upon release. As you might notice that during updates more and more features are appearing in the game and it will change completely. We will share more details in further weeklies. For now, we will close the game selling and will focus to provide a new enhanced version of Lost Region quicker.

Craft


As you know almost every aspect of the game is getting reworked and that is including the crafting system. The crafting system is getting expanded, but they're also will be some limitations. For example, we are removing primitive items, such as stone knives, wooden sticks, etc. There will be no need for such craft, but we are also adding new items such as hand-made radio. Overall the more complex craft will be available for players and for those needs we are creating tools such as a soldering station.

New meshes


Our 3D designers continue to work on new assets. The world of the Lost Region is expanding with details and it is obtaining technological items, right now we are talking about ultrasound machines. Players will be able to interact with it and its main goal will be to help you heal, it is not essential for your survival, but it will be definitely helpful to keep your characters alive. That is just a start, we are working to increase the useful and interesting tools for players to use. As a result, we are making LR more technologically advanced, but you will need to spend some time to be able to use those tools.

Mini-games update


We are finishing the checkers mini-game, next week we will run some tests to ensure both the technical part and UX are in order. You will be able to play against AI by choosing between several difficulties presets, and play within the squad A.K.A play with your friends. or create an open lobby so that everyone can join. In the future, we will also add a tournament feature for mini-games.

Update on character leveling


As we told You before we are working on expanding the character leveling system and bringing new tools to do so. To level dexterity, you can use the reaction tool. It will be a simple mini-game that can be a time killer for some players, but instead of just time killing you will also increase your character reaction and dexterity. Overall it will bring a new experience to the FPS game.
