Update 1: The Cave - Out Now

Hey Adventurers, the first Lucky Tower Ultimate Early Access update, “The Cave” is out now!



Here’s what's included in this update:

  • The Cave
  • More than 666 new voice lines
  • 5+ new achievements
  • Ultra Widescreen support
  • New enemy: troll
  • New village quest

What is The Cave?
The Cave offers an alternative way to escape the tower once you reach the exit door, allowing you to refuse Evelius’s offer and avoid the boss fight. This longer route out of the tower and into the Village will be a dark and atmospheric maze, visually reminiscent of Studio Seufz’s game The Longing. Companions can go insane in these tunnels, so be careful to keep morale high!

Steam Bundles


There are two bundles now available featuring Lucky Tower Ultimate! German Rogues includes three roguelikes from Germany: Rack and Slay, Rogue Voltage and Lucky Tower Ultimate. There's also a Gunbrella and Lucky Tower Ultimate bundle with our friends at Devolver! Be sure to check out both bundles.

Patch Notes



New Features



  • Cave segment added to the tower. It can be found by opening the barred door in the final room of the regular tower
  • New troll enemy
  • A hidden treasure room can be found in the caves
  • Six new types of mushrooms (currently only found in the caves)
  • Items now react to being hit by stomp traps and anvils. Steel and gold items will be turned into discs that can be used as deadly frisbees. Other items are destroyed or pushed away
  • New quest in the village: In the castle area, you can talk to a sculptor to request a giant gold statue of yourself. Be warned, this will require a lot of gold...

Quality of Life Improvements



  • The UI has been optimized for a lot more resolutions, including Ultra Widescreen
  • You can now skip the intro by pressing any button twice

New Voice Lines



  • Plenty of new lines have been recorded. Too many to list them all, but here are some examples:
  • Van Wampe (the red haired knight) now has voice lines
  • Wanst comments the goodbye lines of companions
  • New lines for escaping and re-entering the tower
  • New lines for killing Evelius
  • More lines for Evelius gifting you items
  • Companion lines for entering the balcony
  • More idle and small talk lines for Wanst and companions
  • Townsfolk chatter

Other Changes



  • Sobu and Alva no longer immediately attack you when looted (now with new voice lines)
  • Potion effects now apply to items in the village. However, Wanst will not drink potions while in the village
  • All cushions in the idea/monkey zone now give different answers, if Evelius asks Wanst a question
    The time limit for the monkey selection has been raised to 60 seconds

Bug fixes



  • Fixed monster render order issues
  • Fixed Evelius talking at the basement, even though he is dead
  • Riddle Master cave chest freeze fixed
  • You can now bring chests back to the tower from outside

Update 1: The Cave - Coming Nov 5

We’re excited to announce that Lucky Tower Ultimate's first Early Access update, “The Cave” will be launching on November 5th, 2024 at 6pm CET / 12pm ET!

What is The Cave?

  • Fixed companions who were set to stay still following the player
  • Fixes for various weapons that were not displayed correctly when entering a door
  • Fixes for gold potion interaction with various weapons

  • Safety for blackscreens in the room of the cup player

  • Fixed several occasion of Evelius being braindead in the final room
  • Fixed cutscenes breaking when a companion dies from poisoning at the same time
  • Fixed Evelius disappearing at the balcony if he's after you, causing him to never reappear in the final room
  • Fixed Speedrun achievement triggering too early
  • Fixed Assassin achievement triggering when killing the sleeper with a poisonous weapon
  • Fixed Midas achievement not triggering when drinking the potion or gilding corpses
  • Fixed one endless gold exploit
  • Auto dropped items shouldn't damage Evelius anymore


Other



  • New hints for unequipping and using a gold sack at the bank and mayor, since many people had problems figuring this out
  • Bounty at the mayor only shows up if there are monsters in the cave
  • Small gunpowder boxes have skull and T.N.T marks on them for clarity


Balancing



  • Anvils on stakes in the purple segment are a bit lower to be visible despite the ceiling
  • There's now a vending machine in the final room, where you can buy a key to escape the tower - this is an alternative exit strategy, in case you don't want to fight Evelius. The price of the key has been lowered to 25 gold. If there's a bug in the final room where the gate can no longer be attained, the key can be bought for free at the machine

  • Fixed several occasions of Evelius being braindead after giving him a hat
  • Fixed not being able to talk to companions after they've been interrupted by Evelius
  • Poison progression visuals are now stopped in ending cutscene
  • Armor obtained from chests at the balcony displays correctly
  • No input in main menu when tabbed out
  • Fix for not being able to continue playing at the tavern endscreen, if there's a bug that shows you as a monster
  • Fix for a bug that caused a freeze when entering the tavern with a beehive helmet
  • One fix for the pawn shop that resulted in a freeze


Balancing



  • If a powder keg is behind a nail waltz with alcoves, the fuse of the powder keg will now burn longer to prevent impossible challenges


Other



  • Apple added as item 🍎 (there are some on the ground near the village entrance, that can be used to cure poisoning)
  • New music for the realm of ideas (monkey zone)
  • Different money icons for vending machines, ATMs/Bank, Mayor
  • Some sound adjustments to doors
  • Cauldron in Alva's hut can be used (potions only work inside the tower though)

Two Weeks Since Launch!

Hey Adventurers, it's already been two weeks since we launched Lucky Tower Ultimate - we can hardly believe it!

Thank you for such a successful Early Access launch, it's been a great joy to see you bravely dive into the tower and to have so many of you joining us on our Early Access journey. While we can't respond to all of it, we're reading all of your suggestions and feedback, and we're taking notes on what you're interested in and how we can make Lucky Tower even more Ultimate!

The team has been working hard on all your bug reports, and we've been releasing patches regularly to quash as many bugs as possible. If you haven't already, be sure to join our Discord, you'll be able to access public beta builds and play on the latest branch a little earlier.

Known issues we're working on:



  • Evelius sometimes doesn't take items, when he asks for armor/helmets etc. You can still proceed by attacking him, but this will activate his hunter state.
  • Evelius doesn’t return items when he takes them just before the final floor
  • Giving Evelius a corpse to eat when he’s sitting at the table doesn’t work at times
  • Dialogues with companions or genie don’t work under certain conditions
  • Walking endlessly to the left/right in a room
  • Freeze when leaving the tower (exiting the game and coming back should bring you back to the village in most cases)
  • Black screens / rooms
  • Having no respawn menu after certain deaths
  • Slimes sometimes become braindead
  • Selling/Buying at the pawnshop can cause a freeze under certain conditions
  • Chinese dialogue appearing in the Russian localization sometimes
  • Hard to understand how to deposit gold at the bank (you have to unequip your pouch and “punch” the coins into the cell by pressing attack)
  • Game doesn't support UWHD resolutions at the moment
  • …and some more

  • Wanst's house in the main menu gets visibly bigger, if you upgrade it in-game
