Weekly Update #46: Happy New Year!

Happy New Year Fox Riders!

We hope that you had a great Christmas season. Almost the whole team was off during the Christmas Holidays but some less lucky had to continue to work on the project instead of partying. Here's what happened during the 4 last weeks.

We continued to work on the next biome. (mostly on rocks - again)












We had a Christmas party at the studio. Fabrice our level designer won the contest of the ugliest Christmas sweater.











And we ended the Christmas season with our traditional internal Game Jam.

Update #7 Chinese Now Available! And more!

We just released a big update of Nanotale with a lot of additions and improvements, including Chinese language.

Weekly Update #45: Interview with our 3D Artist and Animator

Hi Fox Riders,

First of all, thanks to all of you who voted for us on IndieDB. Four more days and we'll know the winners. ːepipartyː

As, we already told you, these last weeks, the team was working on a big update that should be live before the Christmas Holidays.

Polishing the existing content of the early access left us some space to introduce you to a new enemy that you can already defeat in the available content of the game: The Heavy or Deer-like Enemy.



The Heavy is the tallest enemy you'll find in the early access. It can see you easily (no delay to start aggro) and cannot hide in Grass / High grass or Fog.

Weekly Update #44: Improving feedback during battles

Hi Fox Riders,

We hope that you had a great weekend.

Last week, we worked on improving the early access based on your feedback.

Below you can see the battle as you know it. Players told us that the zone where enemies are spawning looked confusing as they didn't know if they could approach it.



We thought a bit about it and came up with the idea of monster eggs slowly appearing on the flour, giving you a visual timer of when that zone is dangerous or not.



And here the in-game version of it. What do you think? Better?



Second Biome



Improving the available content is nice, but we also needed to work on the next biome. Here are some screenshots showing you beautiful rocks ːepiwtfː because it all started with rocks.

Weekly Update #43: Back in production

Hi Fox Riders,

We now have a stable version of the early access which mean that we can go back in production instead of only focusing on fixing the existing content.

Of course there are still a lot of things to improve and add in the Ancestral Forest, so we won't completely stop to work on it but we'll just do it at the same time as we will work on the next biome. So, feel free to continue to report bugs and give us feedback about the early access.

Update on the available content


Some of us are currently working on an update of the Ancestral Forest with visual and content improvements such as the implementation of the quest system, and the encyclopedia. We'll also work on feedback and sound.

Here's a improvement of the enemy spawner zone during battles.


Back in production


Here's a very strange but also very friendly creature that you'll find in the next biome. We don't have a name for it, so don't hesitate to make suggestions.

Update #6

Hi Fox Riders,

We just released an update of Nanotale with a lot of fixes and improvements.

Here is today's patch changelog:

  • Fixed issue linked to going back to the main menu and playing the game again
  • Fixed language mix in the main menu
  • Fixed a bunch of invisible colliders on the terrain
  • Fixed the last known problematic bridges in the Tree of Life area
  • Fixed rogue dialogues that were impossible to exit
  • Fixed cinematics going dark with camera zoom out movement
  • Fixed "NOWORD" and "W" issues (mostly occured in Japanese)
  • Fixed Tree of Life healing cinematic
  • Polished small parts of the forest (small assets)
  • Improved enemy spawn signal for the fix battles
  • Added missing Japanese and Korean characters (please don't hesitate to test it and report any problem you can find)

Update #5: Mostly fixed colliders and last battle issues

Hey Fox Riders,

Last week, we fixed a lot of remaining bugs. Especially some really blocking ones that forbade you to reach the end of the available content.

Here is today's patch changelog:


  • Fixed some remaining wall colliders in the forest
  • Fixed some collider issues while climbing the Tree of Life
  • Fixed Queen that doesn't give you the teleport
  • Fixed potential broken outcomes of the Queen battle
  • Improved map visibility
  • Added credits to main menu
  • Added last game scene of the available early access content after climbing the tree. That scene is a work in progress.

The Mini Rosalind Bug

The Topless Clover Bug
Clover gets topless for a second after deactivated the shield. Note that this one is more a feature than a bug.



VERY IMPORTANT NOTE



If you encountered issues with the Queen battle and the update doesn't make any change for you, there is a second fix that will be to replace your old save file with the one below. It will bring you just before the battle. But before taking the save file, please try the update without it first.

News About the Next Update

We know that some of you are patiently waiting for an update, so, we wanted to let you know that we are working on a big update that should be ready in the coming days. The things is that it's a really big one and we prefer to test it a lot, and make sure that it doesn't trigger other issues.

Update #4 : Bug fixes and new patch

Hello Fox Riders,

We have been working hard in the last few days to gather all the bugs and feedback reported to us via steam, discord and github.

I'm pleased to announce that the game stability has been greatly improved.
To our knowledge, the game content for Early access is now finishable.

Here is today's patch changelog:


  • Fixed all known blocking bridges in the game.
  • Fixed a lot of transparent collision bugs happening in the game.
  • Fixed All known NPC dialogues that were triggering game errors such as the impossibility to close a dialogue or the inability to type after such a dialogue was triggered.
  • Fixed all known battle issues that were spawning Rosalind outside the game area upon death.
  • Fixed known untypeable words in dialogues with NPC's.
  • Fixed typing feedback on some UI elements.
  • Fixed the path that was allowing users to reach the push/pull power zone without required fragments.
  • Fixed Queen fight issues not handing you the teleport power.
  • Improved enemy spawner visibility in dedicated combat zones.
  • Temptative fix on green jaspers not being typeable in some parts of the game.
  • Fixed issue linked to skipping mandatory dialogues (with ESCAPE).
  • Improved map usefulness.
  • Fixed the behaviour of the Fox upgrade power.


KNOWN SHORTCOMINGS:


  • Going back to the main menu from the game and then starting the game again breaks the game (bad checkpoint, not possible to type anymore).
  • Changing the language from the options menu requires a game restart to take the new language into account. It some cases, changing the language is not saved if you do not have any progression in the game.
  • Polish and Russian might still have unrecognized character issues, we would love those of you who play in those languages to report any issue you encounter, it will help us greatly.
  • Asian languages are not tested and should be used and played with extreme caution.
