Test Server Update – March 31st
Captains, the following changes were deployed today, March 31st, on the Test Server:
Fixed a bug that caused abnormal speed values after releasing from a grounded state. Thanks to Captain Aquillas for the video showcasing the issue.
NPC ships now carry marines on board. The number of marines matches what players can achieve through modules.
Overhauled loot from NPC Raiders in Port Battles.
Loot quality now scales with the size of the Raiders Port Battle:
Shallow: 6th–7th Rates
Deep Water: 4th–5th Rates
Deep Water: 1st–3rd Rates
Raider Warships now carry an additional module and have increased ammunition and doubloon quantities.
Raider Trade ships now always carry a Wooden Chest.
Slightly adjusted loot from Elite NPCs in the Open World.
NPCs in the Epic Event now carry Silver and Gold Chests with loot. The Epic Chest has been removed pending a future rework.
Silver and Gold Chests now provide doubloons, increased ammunition, and improved chances for better-quality modules.
Adjusted the weight of intermediate crafted materials (e.g., oak planks, charcoal, provisions) to better reflect the weight of the raw resources used in crafting.
Adjusted material pricing to remove any crafted items priced below 1 real.
Overhauled raw resource distribution across the Caribbean:
Rebalanced the distribution of shipbuilding resources to reduce the number of empty ports and ensure more even resource spread.
Added the following wood types to spawn across the Caribbean:
Teak Log
White Oak Log
Bermuda Cedar
Live Oak Log
Mahogany Log
Malabar Teak
Slightly reduced mast durability to make demasting somewhat easier.
Test Server Battle Rating Loot Overhaul – March 28
Captains,
The following changes were applied today, March 28, on the Test Server:
Battle Rating-Based Loot from NPCs in the Open World
NPC ship loot in the Open World is now based on Battle Rating (BR) instead of ship rank. This update allows for more accurate loot distribution between ships with the same rank but significantly different BRs (e.g., Brig vs. Le Gros Ventre Refit, Surprise vs. Trincomalee, or Wasa vs. Implacable).
Previously, rank-based loot meant that Surprise and Trincomalee would carry identical loot.
With the new BR-based system, Surprise and Trincomalee will now carry loot more in line with ships of similar BR.
PVE looting is now the most profitable activity in the game on a per-hour basis.
Test Server - Technical Issues, March 28
Captains,
We are aware of the technical issues on the Test Server. The problem is under investigation.
Apologies for the inconvenience caused.
Update
The test server will remain offline until the daily maintenance time
Test Server Port Battle Ratings Overhaul - March 26th
Captains, following changes were deployed today, March 26th, on the Test Server:
Port Battles now have two distinct types for each ship size category:
Shallow Water (6th-7th Rates)
Balanced Port Battles – Allows a mix of different ships, e.g., 25 ships with small BR (Lynx) or fewer ships with higher BR Max BR Port Battles – Allows 25 ships with high BR
Balanced Total BR - 325 Max Total BR - 1000
Min allowed ship - Lynx Max allowed ship - Le Gros Ventre Refit
Deep Water (4th-5th Rates)
Balanced Port Battles – Allows a mix of different ships, e.g., 25 ships with small BR (Hercules) or fewer ships with higher BR Max BR Port Battles – Allows 25 ships with high BR
Balanced Total BR - 1450 Max Total BR - 2975
Min allowed ship - Mortar Brig Max allowed ship - Wapen von Hamburg
Deep Water (1st-3rd Rates)
Balanced Port Battles – Allows a mix of different ships, e.g., 25 ships with small BR (3rd Rate) or fewer ships with higher BR Max BR Port Battles - Allows 25 ship with high BR
Balanced Total BR - 3300 Max Total BR - 6000
Min allowed ship - Mortar Brig Max allowed ship - Duke of Kent
Additionally, Raider Port Battles and Port Battles against defending NPCs have been adjusted to reflect these changes.
You can easily judge which ship you can take into a battle by looking at Port BR:
325 BR - from Lynx to Le Gros Ventre Refit
1000 BR - from Lynx to Le Gros Ventre Refit
1450 BR - from Mortar Brig to Wapen von Hamburg
2975 BR - from Mortar Brig to Wapen von Hamburg
3300 BR - from Mortar Brig to Duke of Kent
6000 BR - from Mortar Brig to Duke of Kent
Port Battle ship limits are based on BR, not ship rank.
For example, in Port Battles with a BR limit of 1450 or 2975, you can bring any ship with a BR lower than Wapen of Hamburg (even if it’s a 3rd rate ship) and higher than Mortar Brig
