No Time to Relax

Out of Early Access into 1.0 and beyond!

Leaving Early Access - Version 1.0

Creating this game has been quite an adventure for all of us! It’s nowhere near over though. We will continue to support and expand the game (that includes a Nintendo Switch port).

We want to thank everyone who supported us through this 18 month journey: Family, friends and our community which has been invaluable in helping us shape and make No Time to Relax.

The 1.0 update comes with 3 new main features: Missions, Achievements and a new Score Screen.

Missions

  • Mission System: Each game now has 3 random mission that give bonus points at the end of the game.
  • Newspaper: To view these mission head over to the Market and buy the Newspaper.

Achievements

  • 67 Achievements: We added 67 achievements to the game! Can you finish them all?!

New End Screen

  • More Info: We've created a new score screen at the end of the game from scratch. Hope you like it!

Other

  • Chinese & Russian Fonts: We added specific fonts for Chinese and Russian.
  • Bank Tab Swapping: You can swap between the Bank and Investor with the swap tabs buttons.
  • UI Polish: A lot of UI polish all over the place.
  • Bug fixes: We searched high and low bugs and hopefully squashed them all!
  • Close Building Hex Same building can now not be closed two weeks in a row with the Hex Curse.

The best and biggest thanks from all of us here at the Porcelain HQ!

Update v0.11.1 now Live (Pet Changes)

Pet changes

After some feedback and internal discussions, we have decided to add the option to buy another pet if the former has died. You will still receive a penalty to your happiness and your new pet starts at zero.

Other Fixes

  • Changed end game card text as the victor is now unknown.
  • Fixed a bug with pets in multiplayer.

Update v0.11 - Pets and PC, Nintendo Switch and Xbox Launches

Here it is, the Pet Update! You can now invest in your very own furry friend. But just before you check out the new features, we'd like to announce something:

Gamescom & Launch of v1.0

Two big announcements: The team will be present at the upcoming Gamescom trade fair in Cologne (20-24 August 2019). If you happen to attend please come by and say hello!

Second announcement is the official launch of the game from Early Access to full release. This update will include a completely revamped score screen, a mission system and some more goodies.

What does the launch of v1.0 mean for the future of the game? Don't fret or panic, we're not abandoning the game on the 21st! We will continue to update the game with bug fixes and features but on a slightly different schedule. We're a small studio and need to get the game on more platforms to reach a larger group of players. So, with this we're also announcing that No Time to Relax will launch on at least two additional platforms: The Nintendo Switch and Xbox.

With that our timeline has been shifted a little bit. Some features will be launched with the console release while other features ended up on the trash heap as we didn't feel they made the game more fun.

Nintendo Switch & Xbox

We are super excited to announce that No Time to Relax is coming to the Switch and Xbox. We plan to launch a free feature update (on all platforms) with the launch on each new platform. So for the next month or two the updates will address bugs and/or minor tweaks. We'll start with the Switch but don't have an exact date for you just yet (we'll tell you as soon as we know!).

Pets

  • Pet Store: Head over to the new Pet Store that just opened in the Mall and get your very own pet.
  • Pets: After buying a pet you need to make sure it's well fed and happy (for those extra points!).
  • Guardians: Your pet is not only a never-ending spring of joy, it also guards you from the dangers of this world.

Fixes and Tweaks

  • Mouse Disappearing: The mouse would sometimes not register clicks until moved again. That has been fixed.
  • Not losing clothes: Squashed a bug where player avatars would not lose their clothes when they should.
  • Bank Clothes: There was a way for players to leave the Bank and still keep their work clothes.
  • Wrong Building: Sometimes, in online play, the incorrect building was selected on round start.
  • Stuck Buttons: Buttons could sometimes get stuck in the pressed state.
  • Button Highlights: We made the highlighting of certain buttons (like Pay Rent) more pronounced.
  • Trigger Buttons: You can now use trigger buttons on controllers to switch between Bank and Investments.
  • Online Menus: Are now (finally!) animated and better support controllers.
  • Small Tweaks: Bunch of smaller graphics tweaks to make the game shine even more.

Thanks and best regards from all of us here at the Porcelain HQ!

Update v0.10.4 - New Avatars and Low Hanging Fruits

We finally had some time to go through our minor task list and hammer out some low hanging fruit fixes and features. This update is a collection of those labors.

Avatars

  • New Avatars: Added two new Avatars!
  • Work Clothes: Your Avatars now don work clothes when at their job.
  • Sad Cloud: A cloud of sadness appears over your Avatar when they become sad.

Fixes and Tweaks

  • Mouse: The mouse could hang about and highlight buttons and even when hidden. We fixed that annoying little bug.
  • 1p Token Bounce: Characters would double bounce when swapping positions when someone had bought the 1st player token.
  • Controller: The B (Xbox) ◯ (PS4) button no longer opens the main menu when on the map. Instead the Start button does that.
  • Controller & Mouse Image: Updated the controller and mouse images in settings.
  • Windowed Mode: If you started the game in Windowed mode the settings menu still said Fullscreen. Fixed that
  • Item Icons Highlights: Bought items would not stay grayed out and highlights could get stuck in multiplayer. We fixed both of those issues.
  • Character Selection: Highlighting behavior was annoying when selecting Avatars with a controller in local play mode. Fixed that.
  • Added a single Zombie: A lone single Zombie will now roam the streets when Zombie crime wave is active. He might be joined by more in the future...
  • Leave Loading Screen: We set a timer that allow you to leave a match if you get stuck on the Loading Screen.
  • Lobby Dings: The game now plays a ding sfx when a player joins a lobby and when the match starts (in case you have the game hidden or are afk).
  • Vomit: Player Avatars now vomit when entering plagued buildings.
  • End Screen: We discovered a bug in the end screen where players could be assigned the wrong widget. This did not affect the actual score though!
  • Minor bug fixes: Like always there were a few minor fixes and tweaks.

Update 0.10.2 Competitive Mode (aka PvP)

As promised, this is our first big feature update. We've gotten a lot of requests for more player interaction and this is our first feature set to introduce PvP with a bang.

When you choose Competitive Mode a new building, Hex 'R Us, will appear snugged between the University and the Culture building. There you can spend a little bit of health or happiness to curse the other players.

We have more features planned for the competitive mode later on. Until then please let us know what you think about this feature update and how you think it could be made better

Competitive Mode

  • Competitive: Select Competitive mode to include the Hex building
  • Peaceful: Peaceful mode allows players to enjoy the classic gameplay
  • Hex Building: Six Hexes are available to buy. These are sure to mess up your foes' week.
  • Evil Cloud Hex: Allows you to close a building down. No one can get in!
  • Zombie Hooligans Hex: Sets loose a gang of zombie hooligans who will steal anything they see.
  • First Player Token Hex: You are now the first player. The first to choose what hexes to buy!
  • Plague City Hex: Sets loose a horrible plague all over the city.
  • Slow Down Hex: Slows down you competitors significantly.
  • Stress Out Hex: Nail biting, hair pulling and teeth gnashing are all a part of this hex.
  • No CPU: Unfortunately, we couldn't get this working with the CPU player. We'll have to update it in the future and add the option to do so.

Other New Features and Fixes

  • See item effects before buying.
  • A few network bug fixes.
  • A few minor bug fixes.

0.10.3 Hotfix

  • Three items had wrong effect information. Fixed that!
  • Your score turns gray when at 0

Update 0.9.11 - Big language update

Hello everybody!

This here is our big language update. We already had German and have now added Russian, Simplified-Chinese, Brazilian Portuguese and French!

There may be one or two texts here and there missing translations, if you run into any please let us know (or if you see any incorrect translations).

Since we launched most of our time has been spent on fixing bugs and tweaking core game-play mechanics (with the feedback we've been getting from the community). But now it's time we focus on adding new content to the game!

You can see the Timeline here

New Languages

  • Brazilian Portuguese
  • Chinese (Simplified)
  • French
  • Russian

Version 0.9.10.1 now Live!

Hi again!

Last week 2/5 of the team wen't to Malmö Sweden. We had a booth set up at the Nordic Game conference! It was great meeting players and finally attending a conference to show our game.

The other part of the team stayed behind and kept working on future updates. The main focus was to test the "Low Hanging Fruit" update. We got a lot of feedback from the community. So we decided to squash all the issues that came up in testing before going Live with the update.

As the game is getting more and more stable, we will be focusing on bigger Feature updates. A road map is in the works so you will know better where we are headed. It should be up soon!

And here are the changes...

Update 0.9.10.1

  • Fixed New Week Announcement sometimes displaying twice.
  • Fixed Long numbers on Cards cutting in half.
  • Players are now able to discard Weekend Cards view even if no cards are displayed.
  • Fixed a bug where cards could stop displaying numbers.
  • Fixed appliances sometimes being displayed in wrong position in apartments.
  • Relax particle sizes reduced on higher tier items in your apartment.
  • Fixed positioning on the new Discord button if obscure aspect ratio is displayed.
  • Fixed an issue where Price Tags where displayed with the wrong color.

Update 0.9.10

Happiness

  • The Apartment Items Weekend Card has been removed! Now you get initial happiness/health bonus for buying Apartment Items.
  • You get very little happiness when relaxing in an empty apartment. Items give extra happiness when relaxing but not all items give the same amount! And of course, the better apartment gives a higher bonus.
  • The amount of happiness gained from the Culture building has been reduced.

The Bank

  • Removed the time penalty for using the bank.
  • Now you gain interest for deposits each week.

Stress

  • It's easier now to get stressed in the game. Remember to Relax! ;)

Online Lobbies

  • Lobbies now display lobby privacy, difficulty and max player count.
  • The Lobby count down has changed. Now it locks the avatar selection and buttons before the countdown runs out. This is a fix if a person leaves or changes avatar just before the game starts.
  • Added more "Force Start" safety checks. Please let us know if anything weird happens when using "Force Start" as a host.
  • Fixed a bug where Avatar Selection would never finish loading.
  • Fixed a bug where "Force Start" button could be used even if the host was alone in the lobby.

Settings

  • We added the option to disable clicking outside "Building Windows" to close them.

Other

  • Moved the game to Unity Long Term Support.
  • Fixed a bug where the player Tokens (P1, P2, P3, P4) could be displayed in a wrong position.
  • Added a link to our Discord Channel above the Feedback button in menus.
  • Fixed a few smaller bugs here and there. Please let us know if you find more pesky bugs! :P

Version 0.9.10 on Testing

Hi everyone!

We're back after a short hiatus! The whole team went to the US to get some R&R. We had ourselves some workshops and planned the next updates. We look forward to showing you what we've got planned!

Last week we added the game's soundtrack as a DLC for those who crave to listen to those sweet NTTR tunes all day, every day.

This is a "Low Hanging Fruit" update. It includes a few balance tweaks that you, the community, have been asking for. Our main reason for pushing this first to the Test branch is to get some feedback from you all.

The German translations have been overhauled, as we got proof readers and the community to help us make it smoother overall! Thanks to everyone that helped!

Thanks again for all of your feedback! :)

If all goes well over the weekend we'll push the update live next week. Here are the changes:

To access testing

  • Right click No Time to Relax in your Steam Library
  • Choose Properties
  • Click the Betas tab
  • Enter the password: notimetorelax into the field there
  • Press Check Code
  • This will allow you to choose testing - Testing branch from the dropdown list

You should see [testing] by the name of the game in the library list if you have the right branch selected

Note, the testing branch is not using the same online server as the live game so you won't be able to play anyone using the current live version.

To change back to regular Live branch you just do the same thing as above except choose NONE from the dropdown menu

Update 0.9.9 German & Network polish

This update has two main parts: German and Network Polish. We're pushing the first language update today with German (and with more to follow!). In addition to this the programmers have been working super hard on getting online play more polished and bug free.

New Features

  • German / Deutsch: Our first language update arrives today. 99.9% of the game has been translated into german and the other 0.1% will be added in our next update! The first time you start the game after this update you are given the option of choosing English or German. After that you can change the language in the settings menu.

Network Fixes

  • End of Player Round: We now make sure that players get notified when someone finishes their round. That way you should not get stuck.
  • End of Week: We are also making sure that player's get notified when the week is over. Added some extra protection and padding there so you don't get stuck if a player misses the week ended message.
  • Unable to read player data: We weren't resetting some of player's network data properly after a game. This could cause players to start the game twice which caused some weird behavior.
  • Avatar selection: You can't choose avatars now after the Host has started the game. This could cause some unexpected behavior.
  • Food Count: The amount of food another player has in his refrigerator wasn't being reset. Now it is.
  • Stress: Like with food count we weren't updating the stress indicator properly.
  • Desynced: We found and fixed 3 different bugs which could cause players to get stuck in multiplayer games.
  • Lots of smaller bug fixes: We found a bunch of smaller network bugs.

Upcoming

  • Languages: Right now the game is being translated into Russian, Chinese, Brazilian Portuguese and French
  • Pets v0.1: Well, while the programmers fixed bugs the art department finished all their work for the pets update. So now the programmers are going to do their part and get pets into the game.
  • Soundtrack: Just about everything is ready for the soundtrack to be published. Will happen as soon as we have time to setup the Steam page properly.

Known Bugs

  • Network: We have tested the new network system a lot internally. That said there might still be little sneaky bugs there. If you run into any, please let us know!
  • Choose Avatar: In rare occasions when players join a lobby they are not able to choose an avatar and the Host can not Force Start the game. If the match fills up the countdown will start and the game will start when it reaches 0. Players can try leaving and rejoining to fix this.
