Apologies for the delay in sharing yesterday’s Game Update newspost here, and thanks for your patience! This update brought Bounty Hunter changes alongside improvements to Collection Logs and emotes.
Changelog January 29th
[expand type=show more]
Bounty Hunter Changes
Made stat changes to items obtained from and useable only within Bounty Hunter to improve balance and build variety.
Adjusted the charge costs for specific items: Vesta’s Spear (5 Million), Statius’s Warhammer (10 Million), Morrigan's Throwing Axe (5 Million), Morrigan's Javelin (10 Million), and Zuriel's Staff (5 Million).
Removed the ability to bring Phoenix Necklaces into Daimon's Crater.
Doubled EP gain rate for players with a minimum of 50,000 risk and active targets.
Risk tiers now display coloured skulls based on the amount of GP risked, ranging from Bronze (<200,000) to red (>8 Million).
Players can pre-pack two supply crates in the lobby to bring with them to Daimon's Crater.
Collection Log Improvements
Streamlined the overview interface.
The overview now includes your 12 most recently obtained items and a new ranking system - progression ranks from Bronze (100 collections) to Gilded (% based, but around 1400 collections currently).
Head to The Collector in Varrock Museum to claim your Staff of Collection (Ranging from Bronze to Gilded). Right-click the staff to create the accompanying Book.
Ironmen accounts (not GIM) can now retroactively log certain whitelisted items obtained before December 2018. This will only include tradeable items that were on the Log from launch.
Compete with others on the new Collection Log HiScores!
Emote Improvements
Perform emotes by typing "::anyemote" or "!anyemote" in the chat box. For example: !cheer or ::cheer.
Right-click and select 'Loop emote' to perform certain animations (currently Dance, Jig, Headbang, Fortis Salute, and Sit Down) continuously.
Added a new Sit emote.
Ahrim's Ornament Kit Returns
All missing Ahrim's Ornament Kits returns will be processed on February 4th alongside scheduled maintenance.

Bounty Hunter Changes
Towards the end of 2024, we shared with you some improvements we'd like to make to Bounty Hunter, and today those changes go live!
The aim is to address some common issues with build variety and balance, make some of the lesser-used rewards more worthwhile, and support different approaches to Honour PvP.
Conveniently, Bounty Hunter is confined entirely to Daimon's Crater on specific worlds, which lets us tinker with all kinds of options that would usually affect the rest of the game.
While we've shared all this info before, we'll save you trawling back through the archives and bring you up to speed on everything that's changing today, starting with changes to Bounty Hunter-exclusive gear!
Weapon and Armour Adjustments
Remember, these changes pertain only to items that are obtained from and used within Bounty Hunter. Nothing that you see in this list has any impact on the wider game, so don't start running the numbers on whether or not the Dragon Longsword (bh) is worth using at the Wardens - it's not!
Ordinarily we'd use stats images for all of these, but there are far too many for us to go over so we'll save you some mobile data (we know you're reading this at work!) and pop it into a handy list for you all:
Dark Bow (bh): Increase Special Attack Energy from 45% to 55%.
Barrelchest Anchor (bh): Reduce Attack requirement from 60 to 50. Reduce Attack delay after a successful Special Attack by 2 ticks, meaning your next attack would hit 4 ticks after a successful Special Attack.
Dragon Mace (bh): Reduce Special Attack Energy from 25% to 15%.
Dragon Longsword (bh): Reduce Special Attack Energy from 25% to 15%.
Morrigan's Throwing Axe (bh): Buff Special Attack to have 150% Accuracy. Increase Special Attack damage from 20% - 120% to 50% - 150% of your max hit.
Morrigan's Javelin (bh): Buff Special Attack to have 150% Accuracy. The bleed damage from the Special Attack will occur every tick instead of every three ticks. The bleed damage from the Special Attack will be 75% of the initial damage. The bleeding damage will be increased from 5 to 10.
Statius's Warhammer (bh): Successful Special Attack hit will reduce the opponents' Defence by 75%, up from 30%.
Vesta's Spear (bh): Reduce attack delay after a successful Special Attack by 1 tick, meaning your next attack would hit 4 ticks after a successful Special Attack. Minimum damage for the second hit deals 50% of the initial damage, up from 25%. The maximum damage for the second hit is unchanged.
Zuriel's Staff (bh): Reduce Attack requirement from 75 to 30.
Morrigan's Armour: Nerfs to defensive capability.
Morrigan's Leather Body (bh): Reduce defences from 61 to 35 Stab, 53 to 30 Slash, 66 to 40 Crush, 62 to 37 Ranged.
Morrigan's leather chaps (bh): Reduce defences from 35 to 18 Stab, 29 to 15 Slash, 37 to 20 Crush, 35 to 22 Ranged.
Corrupted Morrigan's Armour: Nerfs to defensive capability.
Corrupted Morrigan's Leather Body (bh): Reduce defences from 27 to 14 Stab, 20 to 10 Slash, 24 to 12 Crush, 28 to 15 Ranged.
Corrupted Morrigan's Leather Chaps (bh): Reduce defences from 18 to 9 Stab, 15 to 7 Slash, 16 to 8 Crush, 19 to 11 Ranged.
Vesta's Armour: Nerfs to defensive capability so that Statius stands out as the tankier choice.
Vesta's Chainbody (bh): Reduce defences from 74 to 55 Stab, 81 to 59 Slash, 89 to 62 Crush, 95 to 85 Ranged.
Vesta's Plateskirt (bh): Reduce defences from 55 to 39 Stab, 64 to 42 Slash, 67 to 45 Crush, 71 to 59 Ranged.
Corrupted Vesta's Armour: Nerfs to defensive capability so that Corrupted Statius stands out as the tankier choice.
Corrupted Vesta's Chainbody (bh): Reduce defences from 25 to 18 Stab, 32 to 21 Slash, 34 to 23 Crush, 30 to 21 Ranged.
Corrupted Vesta's Plateskirt (bh): Reduce defences from 22 to 14 Stab, 20 to 11 Slash, 18 to 16 Crush, 22 to 15 Ranged.
Corrupted Statius Armour: Nerfs to some defensive capabilities as it's a little too tanky for its level range.
Corrupted Statius's Platebody (bh): Reduce defences from 50 to 35 Stab, 46 to 31 Slash, 44 to 29 Crush, 45 to 33 Ranged.
Corrupted Statius's Full Helm (bh): Reduce defences from 17 to 10 Stab, 20 to 13 Slash, 14 to 8 Crush, 18 to 11 Ranged.
Zuriel's Armour and Corrupted Zuriel's Armour - Adjust 15% special magical attack accuracy when full set is worn to a flat 25% accuracy bonus for magical attacks (spells and special attacks).
Zuriel's Hood (bh): Increase Magic bonus from 8 to 18.
Corrupted Zuriel's Hood (bh): Increase Magic bonus from 5 to 12.
Zuriel's Robe Top (bh): Increase Magic bonus from 35 to 58.
Corrupted Zuriel's Robe Top (bh): Increase Magic bonus from 25 to 46.
Zuriel's Robe Bottom (bh): Increase Magic bonus from 25 to 46.
Corrupted Zuriel's Robe Bottom (bh): Increase Magic bonus from 18 to 32.
These new stats should address imbalances between builds and add a bit more appeal to some historically overlooked unlocks. Let the meta shakeups begin!
… in one moment. First, we want to highlight some further changes to the charge costs of some of the Bounty Hunter items, which should better reflect their strength and popularity. While risking 50,000,000 GP for a Vesta's Longsword feels fair, risking the same amount for Statius's Warhammer just means that most people don't bother bringing their Warhammer out. Here are the new charge costs of five different weapons:
Vesta's Spear (bh): 5 million GP
Statius's Warhammer (bh): 10 million GP
Morrigan's Throwing Axe (bh): 5 million GP
Morrigan's Javelin (bh): 10 million GP
Zuriel's Staff (bh): 5 million GP
If you've already paid to charge some of these, we've added a message in-game to let you know that you're all the 1,000,000th visitor to Daimon's Crater and are eligible for a refund, which you can obtain by chatting to the Emblem Trader inside the lobby - don't spend it all at once!
Systems and Other Changes
New stats aside, we’ve also made some changes to the underlying systems in Bounty Hunter to make this minigame a bit more enjoyable for everyone.
Up first, it's time to hang up those Phoenix Necklaces. The trusty Phoenix Necklace is fantastic to help stave off death in multi-combat PvP but can lead to some anti-fun play patterns in the 1v1 Honour PvP that occurs inside Bounty Hunter. Used correctly, they're able to make players - in lower brackets especially - effectively immortal. We believe fights would be more enjoyable without them, so we're throwing them out.
Next up, we’re doubling the rate at which players gain EP in the Crater when they have a target and a minimum risk of 50,000 GP. This won’t drastically increase your reward output, and we have high confidence in our anti-griefing systems. Remember though – we have zero tolerance for boosting in Bounty Hunter.
We also felt that Daimon’s Crater could use a splash of colour, so we’re bringing back the iconic Bounty Hunter skulls! These let you easily determine another players' risked GP and let you see whether or not a cheeky target might have sneakily pulled out a new Special Attack weapon at the Bank, or dumped a bunch of their risked GP on the sly. We’re also disabling trading inside the crater to prevent players swapping risk to another account before starting a fight! Here's how it works:
If you're risking less than 200,000 GP, you'll have a bronze skull.
If you're risking between 200,000 and 800,000 GP, you'll have a silver skull.
If you're risking between 800,000 GP and 2 million GP, you'll have a green skull.
If you're risking between 2 million and 8 million GP, you'll have a blue skull.
If you're risking more than 8 million GP, you'll have a red skull.
Rounding us off is perhaps the most significant of all of these changes: Supply Crates!
Not to be confused with Bounty Crates, Supply Crates are something you'll be able to put together in the lobby by stuffing 8 Blighted Manta Rays or Anglerfish, 1 Blighted Super Restore, 2 Blighted Karambwan and 1,000 GP into a crate. You can use noted items to make a bunch of crates, but you'll only be able to bring two into the crater with you. You'll be able to open these helpful care packages while in combat inside the crater to extend fights.
The aim here is to give prospective Bounty Hunters a better shot at killing their opponent and have more opportunities to do so before needing to bank. The nature of Bounty Hunter's Honour PvP means you're looking for that perfect window of opportunity: a flawlessly timed Vengeance, an opponent caught drinking a potion, a lightning-fast combo... you get the picture. If you're fighting a build that has higher DPS (for example, a Pure vs. a Zerker) then you'll often find yourself eating the entire time and leaving before getting the chance to at least try and kill your opponent, which isn't much fun for either of you!
Supply Crates mean you’ll spend less time returning to the lobby, and more time actually fighting. Combined with the EP changes above, we reckon this will improve the Bounty Hunter experience and considerably reduce downtime.
We’ll be keeping an eye out on your feedback about these changes, but for now, just go enjoy them!
Collection Log Updates
You might recall that back in May, we introduced some “absolutely cloggers” updates aimed at making your Collection Log journey smoother, more satisfying, and more fun to track. Well, good news - we’ve just added a fresh batch of updates, so let’s dive right in and take a closer look at what’s been added.
A fresh new look
Let’s kick things off with the revamped Collection Log overview! We’ve given the interface a complete makeover to make tracking your progress smoother and more enjoyable. Everything is now neatly organized into a single, streamlined summary.
This fresh layout will make it a breeze to navigate your log, so you can stay focused on the important stuff: collecting. With all your progress in one place, you can effortlessly track your achievements and see how close you are to snagging those elusive items.
The ranking system
We know hunting down those Collection Logs can be grind. To help you stay on track, we’ve added a ranking system based on how many collections you’ve logged.
Here’s what you’re working towards:
Bronze Rank: 100 collections
Iron Rank: 300 collections
Steel Rank: 500 collections
Black Rank: 700 collections
Mithril Rank: 900 collections
Adamant Rank: 1,000 collections
Rune Rank: 1,100 collections
Dragon Rank: 1,200 collections
Gilded Rank: Percentage based, 90% of total log slots rounded down to the nearest 25 (around 1,400 collections currently)
Additionally, along the bottom of your interface, you can now see the 12 most recent items added to your log - perfect for keeping track of your freshest loot at a glance.
To truly make the experience your own, the new interface is also resizable and movable. Plus, it stays open during other in-game actions, so you can track your progress seamlessly while skilling, fighting bosses, or engaging in other activities.
Cosmetic rewards
When you hit certain milestones in your Collection Log, head over to The Collector in the Varrock Museum to claim your Staff of Collection. Reach new ranks, and you’ll earn a staff that matches the tier you’ve unlocked. The best part? You can Right-Click your staff to create an equipable corresponding book. Show off your Collection Log achievements in style!
No, we’re not introducing charming wooden shoes to the game – but for Ironman players, this is just as good! You can now add historically gained items to your Collection Log.
We understand how frustrating it’s been that the Collection Log didn’t track items earned before its introduction in December 2018 - especially for those who’ve already completed the grind and don’t want to start over. But worry no more! If you’ve obtained these items as an Ironman, you can now retroactively fill in those slots by simply using the items on your Collection Log book.
So, how does it work?
This feature applies to a specific list of whitelisted, tradeable items that were part of the log when it launched.
Alternative or upgraded versions of certain items (e.g., Zaryte Crossbow instead of the Armadyl Crossbow used to craft it) can also be added.
Simply use the eligible item on your Collection Log book, and it’ll be recorded as part of your achievements.
Please note that Group Ironman accounts are not eligible for this feature since that game mode was introduced after the Collection Log.
Now you can finally display proof of your accomplishments - the Ironman way!
Collection Log HiScores
Not only will you be able to flaunt your shiny new staff and book, but you’ll also have the chance to climb the ranks on our brand-new Collection Log HiScores board. Get collecting and see how far you can get!
Ever wanted to show off your favourite emotes without navigating the emote menu? Now you can!
You can trigger emotes directly from the chat box. Just type "::" or "!" followed by the emote name. For example: "::cheer" or "!cheer" will make your character cheer. Yay!
Emote looping
Get ready to groove because emote looping is here! You can now keep certain emotes like Dance, Jig, Headbang, FortisSalute, and Sit Down going indefinitely, letting you show off your moves for as long as you like.
To loop an emote:
Right-click the emote in the emote menu
Select the Loop Emote option
Your character will continue performing the emote on repeat until you move or perform another action. So, grab those dancing shoes and let the endless celebrations begin!
Need a break from all that adventuring? Take a seat - literally! A new sit emote has been added to your emote menu. This Sit emote will loop by default, making it perfect for chilling at the bank or around the campfire.
We’re happy to announce that players who purchased the Ahrim's Ornament Kit back when it incorrectly gave 3 kits instead of 4 will soon have their missing 4th kit returned!! All returns will be processed on February 4th, alongside other scheduled maintenance.
By aligning the returns with this maintenance, we can ensure that the process is completed smoothly and safely - without the risk of disrupting gameplay or accidentally booting anyone offline.
Thank you for your patience, and we appreciate your understanding as we work to return these items securely!

Game Jam Updates
Back in September we unveiled our talented J-Mods’ latest Game Jam projects! You can read all about them here. After an overwhelmingly positive poll, we're delighted to announce that Mini Menu Improvements and the Bank Deposit Refresh are now officially part of the game!
These changes are all about streamlining your gameplay and making life in Gielinor that little bit easier.
Mini Menu Improvements
Hold onto your capes, folks – it's time to say “Hello!” to the shiny new Mini Menu teleport options!
We’ve all been there – you’re having trouble in a boss fight, it’s time to gracefully bow out, but you’re too busy dealing with a giant teleport menu! Annoying, right? Well, not any more!
Now, you can simply hover over your minimenu to see all your teleport options in a neat little submenu. With a couple of clicks you can travel anywhere you please! If you prefer the classic feel, you can always select the old ‘rub’ or ‘teleport’ options to access the traditional menu.
We’re pretty sure you’ll love the new system, but we want to hear from YOU! Share your thoughts on the Old School RuneScape Discord, Reddit, or X – we’re watching and waiting to hear how it feels in action.
Bank QoL
Once you’ve teleported to the Bank, you’ll be glad to see that we have another update which makes restocking your gear a breeze!
In both the Bank screen and the Deposit Box menu, you can now lock individual slots.
Locking a slot means that when you hit the Deposit-All button, your locked items won’t be accidentally banked. Never again will you arrive at your Slayer Task to find that those all-important supplies are sat twiddling their thumbs next to your massive stacks of loot.
Remember, the menu locks the SLOT, not the ITEM. If you’ve rearranged your Inventory after locking your slots, you can right-click to ‘Unlock’ them again. They’re off by default and take the place of the usual ‘Examine’ option. Visit the new Deposit Lock Settings menu to toggle them on.
Additionally, if you’re tired of the deposit box asking how many items to deposit whenever you use items on it, you can now enable a setting to skip the item quantity check and always deposit everything in one go.
Lastly, we’ve moved the ‘Deposit Worn Items’ button further away to prevent misclicks.
We hope this delivers a smoother, hassle-free banking experience! Give it a try and share your thoughts - we’d love to hear from you!
Leagues V Concludes
Just like that, Leagues V has come to an epic close! From the moment those buffs started shaking up gameplay to the jaw-dropping leaderboard races, it’s been a journey to remember. The speedruns, the echo boss takedowns, the grand skilling streaks... Leagues V truly brought out the best in everyone.
But now, as we hang up our Leagues boots, let's take a moment to reflect on the fierce competition, the creativity, and of course, the community spirit that made this event such a legendary experience. Head over to Lumbridge Courtyard and check out the League Firsts Board!
First to fully complete a combat mastery path: Chriskies
First to kill an Echo Boss: frag s
Leagues V Reward Feedback
We’ve been listening to your feedback on a few quirks with the Leagues reward kits, so let’s dive into some of the details and clear up any confusion!
Building Rugs and Curtains
So, you’ve been trying to place those fancy rugs and curtains from the Leagues kit, but something’s a bit... off? While other rewards (like the Nexus portal) let you just ‘Use’ the kit on your furniture, the rugs and curtains require a little more work.
So here’s the deal:
To place your new decor, you’ll need to right-click an empty hotspot, select ‘Build’, and pop into the Build menu. This system is consistent with how things worked for items of the same kind (think: Deadman Rug), but we're sorry if this threw you for a loop!
We’d love to hear whether this system works for you or if you’d prefer a different approach in future.
Reward kits Affecting Multiple vs. Single Items
Another head-scratcher has been how some rewards, like the Leagues V Spirit Tree Scroll, only affect one piece of furniture, while rewards in past Leagues let you slap the kit oneverything of that type in your PoH.
So why the change?
Well, we wanted to give you more flexibility with your customization. When League VI rolls around we don’t want you to be stuck choosing just one style for your entire PoH. Imagine mixing and matching your Leagues V and League VI Portal Kits to create the perfect setup – now that’s what we call customisation!
We know it’s a shift, but we believe this will give you way more control over your PoH designs in the long run. As always, we appreciate your feedback and patience as we continue to refine and improve these systems. Keep those ideas coming – we’re listening!
And with that, another Leagues adventure wraps up... until next time!

Leagues V: Raging Echoes Rewards
PSA: As Leagues V draws to a close, make sure to log into your account before Leagues V wraps up next week! This ensures your League points are successfully transferred to the main game.
If you’re having trouble getting your League Points to transfer, opening up the Relics or Area interface should force them to register.
Leagues V: Raging Echoes rewards are officially live!
After weeks of fighting epic battles, completing jaw-dropping feats, and racking up those hard-earned League Points, it’s finally time to claim your just rewards. We gave you all the juicy details in our previous blog here, but here’s a quick refresher on some of the most coveted prizes.
PoH Spirit Tree
Want to give your Player-Owned House that next-level upgrade? The Raging Echoes PoH Spirit Tree is a showstopper that celebrates your love for Leagues and ensures every visitor can appreciate your grind.
Why settle for an ordinary exit when you can leave the battlefield in style? The Death Animation transforms your final moments into a legendary spectacle, adding a dramatic flair to every defeat - whether in PvP, boss fights, or risky adventures.
For the fashion-conscious ‘Scaper, the Ahrim the Blighted’s Equipment Ornament Kit offers a new look for one of the most iconic gear sets in the game. The kit covers you for all three items in the set, as does the accompanying Virtus Ornament Kit.
This is only a small peek at the rewards on offer – there are plenty more to unlock! From the Raging Echoes Relic Hunter Outfit to new trophies and a treasure trove of other League-themed goodies, there’s something functional, fantastic, or flex-worthy for everyone. Claim your rewards from the Leagues Tutor in Lumbridge Castle Courtyard and let all of Gielinor see your glory!
Reward point changes
We’ve heard your concerns about the reward costs feeling a bit steep, so we’ve had a word with the Leagues Tutor about adjusting their prices.
Echo Ahrim's Ornament Kit: 8,000 → 6,000
Echo Virtus Ornament Kit: 10,000 → 8,000
Raging Echoes Death Scroll: 3,000 → 2,000
Raging Echoes Nexus Scroll: 5,000 → 4,000
With these changes, we hope it’ll feel more rewarding to spend those points and snag the items you’ve been working so hard for. The other rewards will be priced the same as ever:
We’ve broken down the cost of some items into individual components to give you greater flexibility. For example, a complete Portal Room was initially priced at 6,000 League Points but can now be purchased as a separate Scrying Pool and three Portals. This way, you can pick and choose what works best for you!
Discord HiScores
Curious how the competition is shaping up? Here’s a peek at the Leagues V leaderboard!
With only a week left to make your mark, now’s the perfect time to push for glory. Join in on the fun and aim for the top in the #Leagues-leaderboard Discord channel.
There will be no changes to Leagues V this week, but we’ve carefully noted down all your feedback for future Leagues. We know how much you’ve enjoyed diving into Raging Echoes, especially during the Christmas break, but that period is also a holiday for most of the J-Mods. With limited staff available to monitor or resolve issues, we typically refrain from making updates during this period. This break not only allows our team to step back and recharge, it also ensures the game remains stable.
Now that we're into the New Year, the team are looking forward to working on all the exciting stuff we have planned for 2025. We truly appreciate your enthusiasm and the support you've shown this League, and we hope you enjoy making the most of the final week!
UI Changes
Minimap Subsection in the Settings Menu
We’ve given the Interface section of the Settings Menu a bit of a tidy-up! Previously, all Minimap-related settings were scattered throughout the Interface section. Now, we've added a dedicated Minimap subsection there, making it easier than ever for you to find and adjust your Minimap settings! Below, you can see how the new Minimap subsection looks on both the Official Client and mobile.
Minimenu Subsection on desktop. If you can’t see the image above, click here!
Minimenu Subsection on mobile. If you can’t see the images above, click here and here!
HiScores Panel Arrows Get a Dynamic Update
In other UI news, we've also made a small tweak to the HiScores Panel arrows. Up until now, the arrows for different sections of the panel remained unchanged, regardless of whether a section was expanded or collapsed. You'll now find that these arrows dynamically update depending on the section state, making navigation clearer.
Trouble Brewing is a minigame all about brewing big batches of booze, but since some changes we made last May, it seems some of you (especially Iron accounts) have been fermenting a little too much XP! Honest Jimmy’s been keeping tabs, and he reckons you’ve had more than your fill, so we’re slightly scaling down XP rates for a few actions in the minigame to keep things balanced. Here's what’s on tap now:
Boiler Pressure now awards 25 Strength XP for increasing the pressure.
Lighting Logs grant 100 Firemaking XP when lit in the Boiler.
Collecting a Bitternut gives 50 Hunter XP, with an extra 200 Cooking XP when you deposit it into the Hopper.
Fletching Scrapey Bark now earns 50 Fletching XP, and depositing it into the Hopper rewards 100 Cooking XP.
Catching Sweetgrubs now gives 40 Hunter XP, with 100 Cooking XP for dropping them into the Hopper.
Adding your team’s water to the Hopper earns 100 Cooking XP.
Oh, and we’ve also patched up a bug that meant only one of the three boilers on each side gave Firemaking XP when lit. Now, all boilers will reward your fiery efforts as intended.
Thanks for bearing with us as we balance things out - sometimes it takes a little while to spot these quirks, but we appreciate your patience and feedback. Now get back to brewing and make Jimmy proud!
Other Changes
We’ve also managed to squeeze in some additional changes:
Slayer Helmets now act as warm items at the Wintertodt, thanks to their Earmuff properties.
The Araxyte Slayer Helmet's Inventory icon has been realigned.
Players' armour no longer occasionally remains invisible after using the Makeover services.
PvP World Rota
The PvP rota has moved to Period B:

319 - (US) - Bounty Hunter World

580 - (US) - LMS Competitive
World 390 (AUS) for LMS Competitive has been de-activated with this rota.
World 569 (AUS) for Bounty Hunter has been de-activated with this rota.
The PvP Arena is using 'Max/Med' loadouts in Ranked Duels and Tournaments this week. For more info on the above content, check out the official Old School Wiki.
We're speeding into the New Year with the long-awaited Run Energy changes! Can we get them for real life? PSA: Before we get started, please note that the Friends List and Friends Chat may be unavailable for a few minutes following today’s update. We expect this to be resolved very quickly, but content that relies on these systems (such as the Chambers of Xeric) will be impacted for a short while.
Now, on with the newspost!
Changelog January 8th
[expand type=show more] Run Energy Changes
Considerably improved Energy regeneration at lower Agility levels while leaving it unchanged at Level 99.
Energy Drains more slowly in all scenarios, at every Weight and Agility level. This becomes more significant as Agility level and Weight increase.
Leagues V
There are two more weeks left to enjoy Leagues V: Raging Echoes!
Next week, the Leagues Reward Shop will go live and you’ll be able to spend your hard-earned League Points.
Other Changes
Miscellaneous Changes and Fixes
Now that you’ve helped the stray dogs of Falador find their fur-ever homes, we’re removing the Christmas 2024 Event. The dogs will remain with their new owners. Feel free to visit and pet them any time!
Zahur is once again making Huasca Potion (unf) as intended.
To prevent megascale boosting abuse at Chambers of Xeric, we've changed how unique rewards are distributed. Now players who leave a raid in progress are eligible to receive unique items, but if they would do so, the reward is discarded instead. This ensures that leaving a CoX raid no longer transfers loot chances onto remaining participants.
Water jugs in the Tombs of Amascut Zebak fight can now be attacked with Magic, as intended.
Dharok the Wretched no longer deals his max hit on every successful attack after his health has been reduced.
Fixed an issue where The Whisperer’s tentacles failed to spawn under certain conditions.
The left-click/tap option on Runecrafting Pouches will now dynamically swap between “Fill” and “Empty”, depending on their status and what you have in your Inventory. If you were using the Menu Entry Swapper for these pouches, you may need to set "Fill" as the left-click option for the dynamic effect to start working.
Removed a restriction which prevented players from receiving Master Clues for 30 seconds after they last received one.
Increased Combat Achievement buffs when choosing how many Barrows Brothers to kill for a Boss Slayer Task, so that the maximum is always a multiple of 6.
The Scorching Bow now works for a range of demonbane-themed Combat Achievements.
Tormented Demons and Demonic Gorillas now correctly appear in the Combat Achievements monster drop-down list.
Fixed an issue where pieces of Barrows or Perilous Moons kits would break prematurely when attempting to drop them with the 'valuable item' warning active.
Fixed an issue where degraded Perilous Moon kit pieces in free-to-play would delete them.
The Clothes Pouch Blueprint can now be crafted with the Costume Needle without a thread, as intended.
You can now start the Make-X processes for creating Stamina, Anti-venom and Antifire Potions without cancelling your character's existing movement.
You should no longer find that a Portal Nexus to Senntisten transforms into a Portal Nexus to Ardougne (that still takes you to Senntisten) upon teleporting to your POH.
You should no longer be told about an elusive reward pile when withdrawing rewards from the Wintertodt reward cart.
When founding a clan with other players, the other founding members are now more likely to be automatically added to it successfully.
The confirmation warnings for the Plank Make spell can now be toggled on & off via the Settings menu.
You can now hold more Bonds in your Bond Pouch.
Wilderness Fixes
Food, potions and the Phoenix Necklace no longer go to the Gravestone in the Wilderness, preventing unintended access to unlimited supply.
Teleporting to the Wilderness via the Player-Owned House Obelisk now includes an additional warning if the player is in a High Risk World.
GIM Fixes
Fixed a bug where the GIM Combat Achievements were showing missing points when all duo GIM tasks were completed.
Fixed a bug allowing the use of Ghommal's Hilt 6, claimed in a GIM account for a completed Combat Achievement, on a regular account after conversion.
Visual Fixes
Fixed visual glitches affecting certain basic clothing items when wielding the Cursed Banana.
The Cursed Banana attack animation is now properly displayed while walking.
Horns of the following helms now properly align on Body Type B:
Fremennik Helm
Archer Helm
Farseer Helm
Warrior Helm
Berserker Helm
Fixed an animation issue where the player character turns around while crossing the gangplanks in Corsair Cove. Showoff!
Have Your Say!
Every few months you may encounter in-game pop-up boxes asking you to rate your experience with the game. There are two kinds of questions:
A survey question about specific content which varies between scales of 1-5 and 1-10, depending on context.
A survey question about your overall satisfaction with the game. This question will appear more infrequently – about once every 9 months.
These pop-ups will only appear while you are idle in a safe place, to avoid disrupting your gameplay. If you’d rather not answer, you can disable these messages in the Settings menu.

Run Energy Changes
No matter what your New Year’s resolution is, we expect you to hit the ground running in 2025!
Throughout 2024, we held two separate betas featuring three iterations of changes to one of Old School's hottest topics: how fast your Run Energy drains and restores. We've chatted about this loads in our beta blogs (which you can find here and here) so we'll spare you from us digging too deep into the 'why' for these changes, since that's old news at this point!
You’ll notice that the numbers below differ from those in our second beta, because we went away and made changes based on your feedback. We’ll also be responding to your feedback after today, in the knowledge that while some activities will be easier, this change is by no means game-breaking.
At a glance, here’s what’s changing:
Considerably improved Energy regeneration at lower Agility levels while leaving it unchanged at Level 99.
Energy Drains more slowly in all scenarios, at every Weight and Agility level. This becomes more significant as Agility level and Weight increase.
Now let’s see the graphs!
Energy Regeneration
The existing formula for regenerating energy looks like this: (Agility level / 6) + 8.
Keep in mind that behind the scenes, Run Energy scales between 0 and 10,000. This means that at level 1 Agility, your regen rate is (1 / 6) + 8, which gives a regen rate of 8 per tick (since we always round down). To regenerate from 0% to 100% would take 1,250 ticks, or 12 minutes and 30 seconds. At level 99 Agility, it takes 417 ticks to fully regenerate, or 4 minutes and 10 seconds.
The formula which you'll be experiencing today looks like this: (Agility level / 10) + 15.
This means that in the early stages of the game your Run Energy will regenerate noticeably faster, perfect for those taking their first steps in Gielinor. At later levels this will drop off and your Energy will restore at a similar rate to what you’re used to.
Strictly speaking, this is weaker than our latest beta. It's still strong at early levels, but we've reined in the regen a little to compensate for further improvements to drain rates.
Speaking of...
Energy Drain Rates
In our last beta, Energy Drain was almost always slower than the behaviour you're used to, where anybody above Level 54 Agility would always find themselves running longer before their energy drained to 0. A lot of you felt that drain rates were still a little too high, particularly in the early stages of the game, and that there was still a heavy reliance on passively regenerating by walking or standing still in order to really get value out of your Agility levels.
With that in mind, we've adjusted drain rate further so that it is always an improvement over existing behaviour. It can be a little tricky to show these numbers off easily since both Weight and Agility level play a factor now, but we'll try our best!
For comparison, here's how the behaviour you're used to stacks up against what we're implementing today:
Drain Rate formula in today's game update: (60 + (67 * Weight / 64)) * (1 - Agility/300)
We've got a lower base drain rate (from 67 down to 60) and a new multiplier which will reduce your drain rate as your Agility level increases. Ultimately this means you'll always be able to run a little farther than before, but this improvement grows as your Agility level increases and will be more noticeable at higher weights.
This graph illustrates the difference a bit more clearly:
This graph shows drain rate (Energy lost per tick) vs. Agility Level, comparing our proposed formula at various weights to the existing behaviour. Remember that lower is better for drain rate! If you can’t see the graph above, click here!
This graph shows drain rate (Energy lost per tick) vs. Weight (kg), comparing our proposed formula at various Agility levels to the existing behaviour. Just like before, lower is better! If you can’t see the graph above, click here!
As we mentioned above, we’ll be keeping a close eye on your feedback, particularly in places where Run Energy tends to matter like Chambers of Xeric solos, God Wars Dungeon trips, and Herbiboar. We’re especially interested in hearing from newer accounts about how these changes affect early-game questing, Hunter Rumours with limited teleport options, traditional Runecraft, and anything else you’d like us to know about!
Now go on – get those steps in!
Leagues V Reward Shop
There are just two weeks left to enjoy Leagues V: Raging Echoes! Now’s the time to check off those last few goals and scoop up the remaining League Points.
On that note, the Leagues V Reward Shop will open its doors in next week’s update, so you can pick up all the snazzy rewards you’ve had your eyes on. Which ones are your favourites?
We also have a small update to share regarding one of the Leagues V rewards. During testing, we noticed that the POH Portal is actually a bit too big to fit the space, and have since refined the size. In the image below, the portal on the left represents the original concept, while the middle portal reflects the adjusted version, more on par with the size of other portals. This means the middle POH portal is what you'll receive from the Rewards Shop.
Lastly, we have a selection of fixes and improvements coming your way!

The PvP Arena will be using 'Zerker' loadouts in Ranked Duels and Tournaments this week, starting today. The following weeks will rotate automatically, with '1 Def Pure' loadouts on December 18th, 'Max/Med' loadouts on December 25th and 'Zerker' loadouts again on January 1st.

Getting Started

Citizens of Falador woke up this morning to find that their city has become a sparkling winter wonderland! Cecilia has decided that now’s the perfect time to put up some festive decorations, but the stray dogs of Falador have other plans.
If only there was a way for these five furry friends to find loving homes in time for Christmas… Perhaps that’s something you could help with?
Don’t forget, you can claim rewards from previous Christmas events by speaking with Diango in Draynor – although you’ll need to complete this year’s event first!

Leagues V Fixes
It’s been absolutely wonderful to see you all progressing towards your League goals, whether you’re accumulating Points, obtaining Echo Boss drops, or just having fun! Over the last week, the team was hard at work blasting through the remaining bugs, to make your Leagues V grind smoother ahead of the Christmas break. Let's take a look at what's been fixed...
Task Fixes
The "Activate an Arcane or Dexterous Scroll" task has been fixed for players without the Grimoire. You can now complete it by simply reading an Arcane or Dexterous Scroll.
The chatbox closing prematurely no longer blocks the "Activate the Statue of Ates" task. If you've already met the requirements but the task wasn't registered, the task will be retroactively completed for you when opening the Areas/Relics/Masteries interface from the Leagues V Menu.
Obtaining the Quetzin now completes the task "Obtain a skilling pet", as intended.
The "Equip a Full God Dragonhide Set" task can now be completed with Zamorakian Dragonhide Armour.
The "Brutally Murder Conrad King" task will now be auto-completed when you unlock Kourend and Kebos. If you've already unlocked Kourend and Kebos, the task will retroactively complete upon opening the Areas/Relics/Masteries interface.
The "Garden of Death" task will now be auto-completed when you unlock the Desert. If you've already unlocked the Desert, the task will be retroactively completed for you when opening the Areas/Relics/Masteries interface from the Leagues V Menu.
Echo boss kills now count towards the Kill Count tasks of Combat Achievements.
Echoes from the melee mastery no longer fail the tasks to kill bosses with specific weapons. Additionally, echoes no longer affect non-melee Nylocas in Theatre of Blood.
Corrected the text on the “Have Elsie tell you a story” task description to state that she lives in Varrock, not Falador.
Corrected the description of the "Steal 15 Artefacts" task.
Clue Step Fixes
You can now complete the following clue steps without issue if you have Treasure Arbiter unlocked:
Talk to Robin with 180+ Ranged Attack.
Talk to Ghommal with 100+ Strength bonus.
Talk to Juna whilst wearing three Guthix items.
Anger emote at the Saradomin statue in Varrock with a Zamorak Godsword.
Do a jig at the Barrows chest whilst wearing a set of Barrows.
Yawn at Pyramid Plunder whilst wearing a Pharaoh's Sceptre.
Dance in Iban's temple whilst wearing an Iban's Staff, Mystic Robe Top, and Mystic Robe Bottom.
Other clue step fixes:
The "Equip Iban's Staff" clue step will now only appear if you have Tirannwn, Kandarin and Morytania areas unlocked.
Fixed a bug where the elite clue step "Panic at the area flowers meet snow" was showing up despite not having Kandarin unlocked.
Using the anger emote with the Treasure Arbiter Relic unlocked now correctly makes the Double Agent appear.
Relic Fixes:
Production Master now works when crafting with Amethyst.
Checking XP is now correctly given when a fruit tree is replanted with Overgrown.
Big Shark, Big Swordfish and Big Bass can no longer be auto-cooked with the Animal Wrangler Relic.
Specialist Relic fix: Special Attack Energy now restores when killing a lost soul during the Whisperer fight.
Fixed an issue where the Clue Compass teleport to Keldagrim required completing The Giant Dwarf quest, when it should only require starting it.
Corrected the spelling of Canifis on the Clue Compass teleport menu.
Miscellaneous Fixes
Fixed a bug where Tormented Demons teleport couldn't be used without the quest requirements.
Gabooty now properly shows up in Karamja as intended.
The League Summary page now tracks and displays "Players Killed". Additionally, "Time Played" has been updated to "Account Age" for better clarity.
Veliaf Hurtz from the Sins of the Father quest is now in the right location.
Slayer Helmets can now be properly recoloured.
Tombs of Amascut can no longer be accessed early by using the Banker's Briefcase from the Bank Heist Relic.
Echo Hunllef no longer stretches during its death animation.
Golden Tench now has a chance to be dropped as intended both in Leagues and main game worlds.
Other fixes done over the last week:
The "Obtain 100% support from your kingdom subjects" Fremennik clue step is no longer blocked if you have Pocket Kingdom unlocked.
Fixed a bug where Bone Dagger's first attack wasn't guaranteed.
The Dragon Axe (or) now displays the correct model of the axe while Woodcutting.
Players can now get hydra and araxyte Tasks with the correct quantities from a Slayer Master.
As it stands, Leagues will remain as it is over the Christmas break period unless there’s anything major that needs addressing. Please continue to report your bugs and issues via the in-game Bug Report feature, and we'll pick up from where we left off on January 8th!
Leagues So Far

With every League comes the burning questions about collective stats: Who's the deadliest NPC in Leagues? Is your favourite creator Rank 1 on Points? How many Karambwan have you wrangled? SoupRS has brought you the lowdown on all of the stats you could possibly want from Leagues V: Raging Echoes.
Additionally, let's take another peek at our official Discord server Leagues V leaderboard! Remember you can check this yourself, or join the ranks and battle it out for top spot on the Leagues-leaderboard Discord channel.
Corrected the chathead graphics for a messenger used by quest characters like Maisa.
Certain combat NPCs in Desert Treasure II and Secrets of the North are no longer vulnerable to being shoved around:
The assassin from Desert Treasure II
Ketla
Persten
Ancient Guardian
Jhallan
The assassin from Secrets of the North
Replaced the thumbs-up and down buttons on the Logout panel with a 1-5 star rating. Now you can give a wider range of answers, if you like.
PvP World Rota
Over the Christmas period, all worlds will be open, regardless of the region. The PvP rota will begin again next year on January 8th!
You can also discuss this update on the 2007Scape subreddit, the Steam forums, or the community-led OSRS Discord in the #gameupdate channel. For more info on the above content, check out the official Old School Wiki.
The Issues and Fixes blog includes all the hotfixes we’ve made since launch.
This week also brings the following coldfixes:
The League area emote animation now no longer hides other animations.
There was a bug causing both the Crush Hour Combat Achievement from Phosani's Nightmare and the Temotli Triumph CA for Amoxliatl to fail.
The Treasure Arbiter now works with the master cryptic clue featuring Juna.
"Complete all Combat Tasks" were not registering for Vardorvis, Leviathan, Duke, Whisperer, Araxxor, and Perilous Moons despite all Combat Achievements being completed.
We fixed a bug causing the Jewelled Crabs at CoX to switch to the wrong attack style when using Nature's Reprisal, plus roll incorrect accuracy with the melee style.
Players with Grimoire activated can now complete the Task for redeeming an Arcane/Dex scroll, as intended.
Fixed an issue where players couldn't get hydra or araxyte tasks.
Equipping the Corrupted Bowfa now correctly completes the regular enhanced weapon Task.
And the following hotfix in case you missed it earlier this week:
Using the Total Recall orb to save a Runecrafting altar in a Region you don't have access to was causing the inability to store new memories to the orb.
Other Changes
Added a toggle for the minimenu scrollbar, which appears when minimenus contain more than 12 entries.
Fixed a bug with the Rock Cake stall which prevented progress on the Watchtower Quest in main game worlds.
The Rune Thrownaxe’s special attack now correctly deals damage when bouncing after being used on the doors of the Dagannoth Kings’ lair.
The Infernal Axe now keeps its charges upon using the ‘Change-style’ option when ornamented.

Leagues V: Raging Echoes Changes
We're officially one week into Leagues V: Raging Echoes! While you've been blasting your way through Tasks, agonising over Relic picks and facing off against Echo bosses, our team has been working to fix those first-week bugs.
We've been keeping our Issues and Fixes blog up to date with the changes we've been able to make so far.
We've made the following coldfixes with this week's update:
The following hotfix came earlier this week, so in case you missed it:
Using the Total Recall orb to save a Runecrafting altar in a Region you don't have access to was causing the inability to store new memories to the orb.
We're working through bugs based on priority, so as other issues have cropped up, it's meant some of the bugs listed in the Issues & Fixes blog table are now being looked at in the following week. We'll keep you updated with these fixes as they happen with a table popped at the top of this newspost.
Reward Point Thresholds
We've spotted you wondering just how many Points you need to rack up to nab yourself our Raging Echoes rewards. So, while these rewards will be available to pick up at the end of the League, here's a breakdown of the points needed for each:
To make it easier to find groups taking on specific activities, we're opening up a few more activity worlds for Leagues.

Let's take a look at our sweatiest 'Scapers! This leaderboard is correct as of Wednesday, December 4th.
Guardians of the Rift
While our GOTR changes came in a few weeks ago, we did spot we may have missed giving a heads up about one of the changes. We know a couple of you were caught out by this so we wanted to share it here to clear it up.
The minimum point threshold needed to get your hands on rewards has been raised from 150 to 300.
The threshold was raised to avoid unintended behaviour and abuse by hopping between worlds, contributing just enough to snag rewards, and moving on - disrupting the balance we aimed to create with recent scaling changes. The updated threshold should now ensure a more cohesive experience for everyone.
Other Changes
We rolled out our biggest-ever Mobile UI update last month! Among the many improvements, we introduced a scrollbar to the minimenu for entries exceeding 12. This week, we’ve also added a Settings option to toggle the scrollbar on or off, depending on your preference.
We’ve also made some general changes:
Fixed a bug with the Rock Cake stall which prevented progress on the Watchtower Quest in main game worlds.
The Rune Thrownaxe’s special attack now correctly deals damage when bouncing after being used on the doors of the Dagannoth Kings’ lair.

Leagues V: Raging Echoes
The wait is almost over! Leagues V: Raging Echoes worlds will go online at 12:00 noon GMT today, Wednesday November 27th!
We’ve made the decision to stagger the worlds coming back online after today’s game update as a precaution against the increased numbers of players logging in to play Leagues.
While you wait, why not have a read through this blog and start planning your strategy?
If you've kept up with our reveals so far, then you may be familiar with some of this information already – but we still have a few surprises up our sleeves.
First up, let’s take another look at the official Leagues V trailer, created by AmentosOSRS.
https://youtu.be/UoZIL-HVfQs If you can't view the video above, click here.
Getting Started
To begin your Raging Echoes journey, you’ll need to log into an account with active membership. From there, head to one of the worlds marked in green on the World Select page.
At launch, there’ll be 124 Leagues worlds to choose from. Some of them have specific themes, to help players group up more easily. You may also notice that we've converted more worlds this year, including some non-members worlds that you may be accustomed to playing on. Sorry for the inconvenience – but Leagues stops for no-one!
Everything you'll see in these drop downs was shared in our Leagues V Summer Summit blog, so if you don't need the refresher, keep on scrolling!
Overview [expand type=show more] Here's all you need to know about the Leagues game mode:
You start on a completely fresh account, separate from your main account.
Your journey begins in Lumbridge, and until you get some completed Tasks under your belt, you'll be locked to Misthalin and Karamja.
You'll be able to unlock other areas after completing Tasks and accumulating Points - you can only unlock three additional Regions, so make those choices count!
These unlockable areas are the Wilderness, the Fremennik Isles, Asgarnia, Morytania, the Kharidian Desert, Kandarin, Tirannwn, Kourend and Kebos, and our newest area: Varlamore.
The more regions you have available, the more Tasks you'll be able to complete. Tick Tasks off to rack up Points and unlock powerful Relics to switch up your gameplay.
The number of Points provided by the Tasks do not matter, only the number of Tasks.
This game mode is temporary. You’ll have eight weeks to build your power and see just how far you can get!
Some points to note when it comes to the area locking system:
Death's Office, the Player Owned House, Random Events and the Essence Mines will be accessible from all areas.
Slayer Tasks will be limited to creatures found in the areas you have unlocked.
Treasure Trail steps will be limited to the areas you have unlocked.
[TAG-207]
Rules [expand type=show more] Area-locking is one of the most interesting things about Leagues, so much so that we've decided to make it a core part of Leagues going forward. If you’ve played Leagues before you’ll be very familiar with this ruleset, but just in case, let’s break it down.
Iron Mode with Accelerated XP Rates
Everyone will play as an Iron character, meaning:
There will be no trading between players.
Everybody will start with a 5x accelerated XP rate.
This multiplier increases further at specific Relic tiers.
Starting Stats
Your fresh Iron character will have the basic stats from Tutorial Island, as well as:
Level 3 Herblore
Level 5 Runecraft
These starting stats will let you access low-level Herblore and Runecraft training methods.
Run Energy
Leagues is all about exploring Gielinor and progressing quickly, so your Run Energy will not deplete in this game mode.
Quest and Diary Unlocks
Some quests or diary tasks that require access to inaccessible areas will be automatically unlocked. Most notably:
Druidic Ritual, to unlock Herblore.
Lost City, to unlock access to Zanaris.
You’ll also get a free Dramen Staff from the League Tutor, which will allow you to access Zanaris.
Tasks
Tasks are a collection of goals and achievements for you to complete during the League, and they could be anything!
Completing Tasks nets you those all-important League Points, which you can use to unlock Relics and other rewards. The more difficult the Task, the more points you'll get.
It's super easy to pick out your next goal, as the Task interface handily sorts all Tasks into tiers ranging from Easy to Master.
Once again, Regions will be unlocked based on how many Tasks you've completed, not the number of points you earn.
Some Tasks will be area specific, but each area has its fair share of challenges - and don't forget those new bosses!
Examples of area-specific Tasks include:
Eat an Onion.
Complete the Easy Varrock Diary.
Defeat Scurrius.
Mine 25 Pure Essence.
Examples of general Tasks, which can be completed in any Region, include:
Bury some bones.
Complete a rooftop Agility Course.
Equip a Maple Shortbow.
Defeat a Guard.
We’ve balanced the areas such that each one has about the same amount of Points (with less than 10-20% variation) so that no matter which areas you choose, you still have plenty of chances to get your hands on the Trophies.
Relics
Leagues is your opportunity to gain power at exponential levels, which means you could end up facing ferocious foes in a fraction of the time it took you in the main game, and some of you may take on quests that you haven't even reached on your main. This is all thanks to Relics!
Relics give you buffs to customise your gameplay, meaning you can really lean into your strategy. Unlocked with League Points, they offer XP boosts, combat buffs, improved luck and more!
As you start your journey, you'll be given your first choice between three Tier 1 Relics. Then it's up to you to complete Tasks and gaining Points to unlock more.
We shared plenty of Relic information in our Teasers and FAQ blog, so check that out for a head start!
League-to-League Rewards
When you earn certain rewards during your Leagues journey, you'll have them in future Leagues, too.
Pets are one such reward. As long as you found your new follower during the League and insured them, your pets will be waiting for you next time a League comes a-knockin’. If you lose them in any other circumstance, you can reclaim them from the League Tutor. Plus, if you've netted yourself a transmog for your buddy, that'll carry over from League to League, too! Carrying over a pet from a previous League will not complete any pet-specific tasks. Your main game pets will remain where they are, and your Leagues pets will not follow you back to the main game.
Right-click icons are automatically obtained and will show everyone who right-clicks you how well you performed in the previous League, with a unique symbol appropriate to your tier. Nice!
What's New?
From new Relics to Combat Masteries and Echo bosses, Leagues V has plenty in store. We shared these in our Leagues V Teasers and FAQs blog, filled with videos and infographics to feast your eyes on. You can also check the FAQ spreadsheet!
Echo Bosses
Leagues V introduced nine fearsome, yet familiar foes. You may think you know how to beat these beasts, but you’re in for a shock – the Echo Bosses have some real surprises in store for you.
There’s an Echo Boss in every unlockable region, but not in the two starting zones.
These encounters bring game-changing unique rewards that you might want to consider when planning your region picks. Check out this video from Scritic to find out more about them!
https://youtu.be/xVVScpoJWeM If you can't view the video above, click here to watch it!
Combat Masteries
Another huge new feature is Combat Masteries. Complete Combat Mastery Tasks and you’ll earn yourself points to spend on style-focused abilities. Each style has six Tiers, and with a maximum of 10 Points available you'll need to carefully decide where to spend them. As with other Leagues choices, there's no backsies! Check out the video or infographic below for more information.

There's so much to get into when it comes to Combat Masteries, so check out the handy infographic for the full breakdown.

QoL Updates
The newest League also brings some Quality of Life changes:
Re-enabled the Blast Furnace shop.
Removed the blacklist for locations where Bankers’ Note could not be used.
Marks of Grace, Hallowed Marks, Agility vouchers and Stardust now benefit from the minigame multiplier.
Tripled the quantity of Nihil Shard drops.
Points are only transferred over to your main save every 500 Points accrued, to reduce server load. If you notice a discrepancy in Points between your main and League profile, this is why!
Disabled the ability to purchase XP in Pest Control and Soul Wars. A flat 2x combat XP multiplier has been added as a Relic passive to compensate.
The hope here is that nobody will feel confined to minigames, when they could be out exploring all the League has to offer.
The increased combat power plus another 2x XP rates (so this is 32x combat XP at max rates) will mean you can train your stats very quickly.
Rocks, trees, respawnable items, and main-world NPCs will respawn faster than in the main game.
Production Master now works with:
Making darts and arrows by using feathers on them. This is capped at making up to 10x at a time.
Fletching Achey Logs.
Making pizza and pies.
Removed the auto-completed Chompy Tasks for interacting with the Ogre Bow.
Hunter Rumours will be area locked, like Slayer Tasks and Mahogany Homes.
Players will no longer start at level 10 Agility, as Draynor is now a level 1 Agility course.
Added instances for Cerberus, Sarachnis, and the Thermonuclear Smoke Devil.
Awakener's Orbs, Twisted Kits, And ToB:HM Kits now benefit from the drop rate multiplier.
You can access the tormented demon area without completing While Guthix Sleeps.
Scythe of Vitur can be recharged by using Blood Runes on it, and does not require Vials of Blood.
Players can now purchase a Max Cape from the Sage once they are max level.
Cosmetic unlocks based on your previous Leagues rank are now added to your Bank rather than your Inventory on login.
Pet transmogs are now carried over to subsequent Leagues.
Duke won't clear potions or herbs after a kill.
Equilibrium now displays the amount of XP it has granted.
Swapped the minigame boosting effect at Guardians of the Rift to boost your points earned in the minigame, rather than the number of pearls obtained.
Area Unlocks
We know you’ve been clamouring to unlock a fourth area, but we believe this would diminish what makes the area unlock system so exciting to build around.
Instead, we’ve made some changes to address your biggest pain points:
Items dropped from bosses that require more than one region to become useable now drop as the finished component.
This includes the Venator Vestige and the Hydra Claw.
Masori Armour and Ward of Elidinis will not drop as finished items, as they are usable when dropped.
All players will have Desert Treasure II, without pre-requisites, unlocked by default to enable access to the Desert Treasure II bosses without requiring the Desert.
Whenever you would obtain a Twisted Bow, Scythe of Vitur, or Tumeken's Shadow, you will instead receive the "Megarare Voucher", which can be handed in to the Sage for the weapon of your choice.
If one player gets a purple in Hard Mode ToB or High invocation ToA (500+), then all the players in the raid will receive a purple too.
To compensate for the increase in purples, we’ve decreased the drop rates for these modes specifically from 3x to 2x. This means you’ll get less purples per hour solo, but greatly increased purples per hour with friends.
CoX remains untouched from last League.
Leagues Firsts
As always there are a number of Leagues firsts up for grabs, for those daring enough to take on this additional challenge.
This year we’re tracking the following achievements:
Complete Inferno
Unlock a Tier 8 Relic
Unlock a 5th Region
Achieve a level 99
Achieve total level 2277
Complete Tombs of Amascut(solo)
Complete Theatre of Blood (solo)
Complete Chambers of Xeric (solo)
Finish a Combat Mastery Path
Defeat an Echo Boss

Runecrafters; the Rift is calling: Guardians of the Rift changes are LIVE NOW! Plus, Mobile UI and Official Client fixes, Curse of Arrav tweaks and Wilderness QoL
Changelog November 13th
[expand type=show more]
Guardians of the Rift
Adjusted minigame scaling depending on the number of players.
Players may now ‘build’ Guardians at the very end of the round, which offers the usual Runecraft XP.
Players may also build Barriers or Guardians during the setup phase so that there’s more time for mining. Conversely, this does not provide the usual Runecraft XP.
At least one Medium-tier (or above) altar will spawn in the first and second waves.
Cells can be used on Barriers for XP (up to a cap of 2,500 XP and 450 Energy) even if they're at full HP.
Destroyed Barriers can now be repaired using 12 Guardian Fragments instead of 10 Guardian Essence.
Players now have the option to loot five rewards at a time from The Rewards Guardian.
Players can now exchange 25 Abyssal Pearls for an additional reward search.
The Colossal Pouch is now useable at any Runecraft level and its capacity scales depending on which tier of Essence Pouches you can use.
Abyssal Pearl drops now roll between 14 and 16, instead of 10 and 20.
Mobile UI and Official Client Fixes
The Bank Pin interface is no longer overlapped by the left-hand side panel.
After depositing paydirt into the hopper in Motherlode Mine, the Sack's counter now updates correctly.
On Our Radar: The team is actively working to fix an issue relating to the Minimenu Reordering dots disappearing if the Tap-to-Drop, Tile Highlights, or NPC Tag features are enabled.
The latest fix requires no workaround when interacting with NPC Tag and Menu Entry Swapper, so you will be able to simply disable NPC Tag to show Minimenu Entry Swapper. However this will still not allow you to use them at the same time.
Likewise, you can simply disable Tap-to-drop and Tile Highlights edit mode to restore the Menu Entry Swapper button.
We'll keep you updated once there's a permanent fix.
Curse of Arrav Tweaks
Arrav's Ranged defence stats are now calculated and displayed correctly.
It is no longer possible to walk into a wall at the Uzer Mastaba.
The Messenger who delivers Elias' message will now be able to find players while they are in Bank areas.
If a player is venomed when defeating Arrav, their venom will now be cured when they begin the cutscene.
Wilderness QoL Updates
You can now use Blighted Items in the Ferox Enclave and Mage Bank.
You can now delete a Loot Key if it's worth more than 30,000 GP. This limit has been increased to 1,000,000 GP.
Loot from Larran’s Chests and the Muddy Chest will now go straight into your Looting Bag, if it’s open.
Fixed an unusual interaction across single- and multi-combat borders:
Assume Player A and Player B are in multi-combat and Player C is in single-combat. If Player A and Player B are fighting in multi-combat, then Player C can happily attack Player A from the single-combat zone. If Player A tries to attack Player C, they'll be able to, but will receive a message reading "I'm already under attack", meaning Player A will have to repeatedly click Player C to attack them. We've now removed the "I'm already under attack message" and allowed Player A to hit Player C without interruption, rather than needing to spam-click.
In the Bounty Hunter Worlds where the PJ timer is shorter, we've removed the 'anti-boxing' mechanic that allows players to PJ you after hitting multiple 0s in combat against an NPC.
Aside from the above QoL changes, here are two other tweaks:
Escape Crystal is now disabled in the Permanent Deadman World (World 345).
Fixed a bug where two of the map links from Scorpia's dungeon weren't working.
Other Changes
The Halloween 2024 event has ended. Roll on Christmas!

318 - (UK) - Bounty Hunter World
548 - (Germany) - High-Risk PvP World
577 - (US) - Free-to-Play PvP World
559 - (UK) - LMS Competitive
World 390 (AUS) for LMS Competitive has been activated with this rota.
World 569 (AUS) for Bounty Hunter has been activated with this rota.
The PvP Arena is using 'Zerker' loadouts in Ranked Duels and Tournaments this week.
Guardians of the Rift Update
Today we’re causing a commotion under the ocean with these highly-anticipated Guardians of the Rift changes! If you played October’s Open Beta, none of these will be especially surprising – but if you didn’t, keep reading to see what’s new!
Post-Beta Feedback Changes
First off, here are the changes we made based on your feedback from the Beta:
Improved the 'bad RNG mitigation' mechanics for the first two rounds of altar spawns. Players pointed out that re-rolling Air into Water was effectively useless since you'd be guaranteed at least a Medium-tier Altar in the second round. Now, you'll be prevented from receiving back-to-back Weak-tier altar rolls in the first two rounds, meaning you'll be guaranteed at least two Medium-tier altars at the start of the game.
Rearranged the order of interactions on the Uncharged Cell table. The default option is now 'Take-10'. You can right-click to use the 'Take-1' option, and the 'Take-5' option has been sent back to the Abyss from whence it came.
There's now a window after a round ends where you'll be able to use your cells to 'create' a Guardian. Nothing will actually happen, but you’ll still earn XP.
Most Talismans obtained from the Loot Guardian will be obtained as notes to cut down on Inventory clutter.
If something isn't mentioned above, then it'll be exactly as it was in the Open Beta. For the rest of you, here's what's changing this week!
Gameplay Changes
Prior to this week, most games of Guardians of the Rift began with everyone stood outside the entry barrier frantically clicking in the hope that they’ll get in before the lobby fills up. If that sounds rubbish, it’s because it is, which is why we’re getting rid of it.
As of today, rounds of this minigame will be scaled according to the number of players involved. If it’s scaled to 100 players or more, you’ll be able to enter and leave freely. Every time a player decides they’ve had enough of these antics and leaves, the Great Guardian will helpfully rebalance itself, so gameplay should feel totally seamless.
This should cut down on frustration on themed Guardians of the Rift worlds, where you’ll frequently see 100+ players inside the game and a sea of people outside waiting for a chance to get in.
Additionally, for every player beyond the 20th, there’ll be a 20% scaling penalty on the charge required for the Great Guardian. Effectively, this means that 21 players or more scales things up by a very small margin, to account for the likelihood that players in bigger teams aren’t pulling their weight. We see you AFKing by the entrance, and we’re very disappointed in you.
Once you’ve made it in, you can build some basic Barriers or Guardians using uncharged cells while the game starts up. This won’t provide any Runecraft XP, but should reduce the chance of your game becoming doomed from the outset – especially if you’re on a small team.
As the Rift opens up, you’ll notice that we’ve adjusted the weighting of different Altars to ensure that you’re guaranteed an option that will give you at least a Medium cell in the first two cycles. Again, this change simply gives you a fighting chance. You’re welcome!
During the game, you’ll be able to use your cells to recharge Barriers even at full HP, which will net you a maximum of 2,500 Runecraft XP and 450 Energy per game. This should result in higher XP per hour, except in extremely long games. The cap should prevent unscrupulous Runecrafters from simply running cells all game instead of properly contributing, but we’ll be keeping an eye out to make sure we’ve got the balance right.
If everyone in your game took that last bit to heart and let a Barrier be destroyed, you’ll be able to repair it using 12 Guardian Fragments instead of 10 Guardian Essence, since time is of the – well, you know.
Rewards Changes
You can now ‘Big-Search’ the Rewards Guardian to obtain five sets of rewards at once. You can also pay the Rewards Guardian 25 Abyssal Pearls to let you have another cheeky dip in the prize pool. This should work out to an extra roll roughly every 14 searches, which should be a nice boost for players chasing specific rewards.
Abyssal Pearls will roll between 14 and 16, up from 10 and 20. This should reduce variance a bit if you’ve had a few unlucky rolls in a row and make progress feel steadier.
But what if you haven’t gone dry? What if you’ve been spooned an Abyssal Needle, but you’re ages away from being able to use it? Never fear – this last change is for you.
The Colossal Pouch now scales up with you, cutting down on clicking on the long road to Level 85 Runecraft and serving as a valuable boost as you continue on to 99. We’re scaling the quantity of Essence the Colossal Pouch can store, depending on the other Pouches you can already use. Here’s how much extra Essence you’ll be able to carry:
Current Pouches:
Level 1: 2 extra Essence (Small Pouch)
Level 25: 7 extra Essence (Medium Pouch)
Level 50: 15 extra Essence (Large Pouch)
Level 75: 26 extra Essence (Giant Pouch)
Level 85: 39 extra Essence (Colossal Pouch)
Updated Colossal Pouch:
Level 1: 2 extra Essence (Small Pouch)
Level 25: 7 extra Essence (Medium Pouch)
Level 25: 7 extra Essence (Colossal Pouch) - (Capacity of 8)
Level 50: 15 extra Essence (Large Pouch)
Level 50: 15 extra Essence (Colossal Pouch) - (Capacity of 16)
Level 75: 26 extra Essence (Giant Pouch)
Level 75: 26 extra Essence (Colossal Pouch) - (Capacity of 27)
Level 85: 39 extra Essence (Colossal Pouch) - (Capacity of 40)
We get to these numbers by taking the amount of Essence the Pouches can store and subtracting the number of Inventory spaces they take up. For example, a Small, Medium and Large Pouch would use three Inventory slots, resulting in 15 extra Essence.
The Colossal Pouch will degrade after 320 Essence has been stored, so it may feel like it degrades faster as you hit new Pouch thresholds.
That’s all we have for you on this front – so get yourself down to the Rift!
Mobile UI and Official Client Fixes
Last week marked our biggest-ever Mobile update, including the launch of the new Mobile UI and loads of new features for both Mobile and the Official Client. You can learn all about it in the dedicated newspost.
Here are the ones we've fixed with this game update:
The Bank Pin interface is no longer overlapped by the left-hand side panel.
After depositing Paydirt into the hopper in Motherlode Mine, the Sack's counter now correctly updates to display how many ores you've deposited.
There’s also an issue where the Minimenu Reordering button disappears if Tap-to-Drop, Tile Highlights, or NPC Tags are enabled. We’re still working behind the scenes to fix this permanently, but in the meantime, disabling all three features will make Minimenu Reordering work correctly.
Huge thanks to everyone who’s sent in their feedback so far. Keep it coming!
Curse of Arrav Fixes
Last week also brought the Curse of Arrav back to Old School RuneScape! It seems you’ve really enjoyed immersing yourselves in the next chapter of the Mahjarrat storyline.
This week brings a range of fixes:
Arrav's Ranged defence stats are now calculated and displayed correctly.
It is no longer possible to walk into a wall at the Uzer Mastaba.
The Messenger who delivers Elias' message will now be able to find players while they are in Bank areas.
If a player is venomed when defeating Arrav, their venom will now be cured when they begin the cutscene.
Wilderness QoL Updates
Last week we shared a newspost full of all the updates we plan to release before the end of the year. You’ll be pleased to hear that some of them are here already!

The Curse of Arrav
RuneScape's iconic Mahjarrat storyline continues with a new quest!
Over the past few years, we've been advancing this story with quests like Desert Treasure II and While Guthix Sleeps, and today sees another important step in the grand plan: the launch of The Curse of Arrav. In this remake of the 2009 quest, you’ll embark on a journey to explore Zemouregal’s Fortress Stronghold, learning more about this mysterious Mahjarrat and uncovering his legendary beef with the hero Arrav.
To start the quest, head to the Uzer Oasis and speak to Elias White.
Elias White can be found at a campsite south of Cassim's house in the Uzer Oasis. If you can't view the image above, click here.
Quest Requirements
The Curse of Arrav is a Master tier quest with the following requirements:
Completion of Defender of Varrock
Completion of Troll Romance
Level 64 Mining
Level 62 Ranged
Level 62 Thieving
Level 61 Agility
Level 58 Strength
Level 37 Slayer
We recommend a Combat level of at least 80
Rewards
No good quest is complete without some nice rewards! Here's what you'll get for completing the Curse of Arrav:
2 Quest Points
40,000 Mining XP
40,000 Thieving XP
40,000 Agility XP
Access to Zemouregal's Fortress, where the basement houses higher-level variants of the Armoured Zombies you've encountered during Defender of Varrock. These Armoured Zombies have an increased chance to drop the Zombie Axe. They also drop the new Zombie Helmet.
The Zombie Helmet requires 50 Strength and Defence to equip. It sits between the Dwarven Helmet and Inquisitor's Great Helm as a Crush-focused Head slot option.
The Zombie Helmet will drop broken and must be repaired at an anvil with Level 70 Smithing at an anvil. Both the broken and fixed versions are tradeable. See the stats below!
The Curse of Arrav is our third and final quest remake in the Mahjarrat storyline. As with previous quest remakes, The Curse of Arrav retains the same overarching narrative as the original. However, various changes have been made to ensure the quest meets the standards of a modern Old School quest and matches up with our future plans for the storyline.
Our Future Plans
Speaking of future plans, we wanted to take this opportunity to address some questions we’ve seen about the Mahjarrat storyline. Specifically, we want to elaborate on why we chose to remake some Mahjarrat quests, but not others.
When we first made plans for the Mahjarrat storyline in Old School, we knew it was important to balance the nostalgia people felt for the original with the desire for a fresh take on events. We also realised that our plans could benefit from backporting quests.
The Mahjarrat storyline is known for beginning as several different plot threads that weave together in the thrilling conclusion. We wanted to retain this aspect, and realised we could blend old and new by retaining some original plot threads while adding a few brand-new ones.
Defender of Varrock, While Guthix Sleeps and the Curse of Arrav all fit nicely with our plans for the story, and would also allow players to re-experience their favourite moments from past Mahjarrat quests.
We made a conscious choice not to remake other quests so that we had room to add new story elements – but you can see how we’ve woven in elements of the originals, too. For example, when you’re playing through Curse of Arrav, you’ll notice a few details that are borrowed from RuneScape’s Missing My Mummy quest.
As mentioned above, Curse of Arrav is the last of the Mahjarrat quest remakes. We’re now firmly on the path towards an Old School-specific conclusion to the Mahjarrat storyline. This means we will not be remaking Ritual of The Mahjarrat – instead, we have plans for two more quests in this sequence, which will resolve the plot threads established in previous quests in a way entirely unique to Old School.
We’re also aware that the Mahjarrat have received a lot of love lately – which is to be expected, since this is by far the most popular storyline in the game. However, variety is the spice of life, and so we’ll be taking a break from the Mahjarrat story to give other quest lines time to shine. Which quest lines, you ask? Well, watch this space…

Minimenu Reordering (aka Menu Entry Swapper)
This was one of the most-anticipated features! By enabling Minimenu Reordering in the Settings menu, you can rearrange minimenu entries to fit your needs.
The reordering buttons are at the top-right of the minimenu. When clicked, new buttons will appear which you can use to move the options around.
Other Minimenu Improvements
Modify Minimenu Start Position
You can now adjust the position of the minimenu in relation to your mouse pointer! To do so, enable this feature and choose your preference from the dropdown menu.
Another new entry to the minimenu! This one lets you easily hop to the world a friend is in by right-clicking their name in one of the following spaces:
Friends list
Chat channel
Clan chat
Guest clan chat
Group Ironman group
Enjoy checking in on your buddies!
Viewing the HiScores In-Game
No more switching to your browser to check player HiScores! You can now look up player RSNs on the HiScores and see the stats of other 'Scapers directly in-game, without having to open the website in a separate window!
To enable this feature, select In-World Lookup from the Popout tab in the Settings. Once enabled, you can right-click a player and select Lookup from the menu. This will take you to the HiScores Popout Panel, which displays their stats! You’ll also notice that the HiScores icon in the Popout panel has been updated with a fresh new look.
If this setting is enabled, you can look up players on the HiScores from the game window! If you can't view the image above, click here.
We’re working to resolve a bug when looking up GIM and HCGIM players, so unfortunately these HiScores can’t be accessed using this feature just yet. We’ll keep you updated on our progress and should have the issue fixed soon.
These are the newest client features, but they’re by no means the last! Remember, you can check out the dedicated newspost for all the details about today’s Mobile UI update.
Other Changes
Fixed a bug where players with no access to Morytania could get an Araxyte task. If you haven’t completed Priest in Peril but currently have an Araxxor or Araxyte task, you can now cancel it for free by talking to any Slayer Master.
The Barbarian Outpost Agility Course now warns players that it gives Strength XP.
Items dropped in the private instances of the four original God Wars bosses will now persist there for three hours. This does not affect Ironman instances, only the private ones unlocked via Combat Achievements.
The Goading Potion will now tell you if it expires early due to teleporting or drinking tea.
PvP World Rota
The PvP rota has moved to Period B:
560 - (UK) - PvP World
319 - (US) - Bounty Hunter World
579 - (US) - High-Risk PvP World
561 - (UK) - Free-to-Play PvP World
580 - (US) - LMS Competitive
World 390 (AUS) for LMS Competitive has been de-activated with this rota.
World 569 (AUS) for Bounty Hunter has been de-activated with this rota.
The PvP Arena is using 'Max/Med' loadouts in Ranked Duels and Tournaments this week.
One for the most metal among you! RuneScape: Battleaxes and Ballads, an album packed full of heavy metal remixes of popular Old School tunes, is out now on vinyl!
If you missed out on pre-ordering it a few months ago, you can get it now at local record stores, online music retailers, the official merch store, or direct from Laced Records.
Check out this blog to learn more and see how you can get your hands on them!
Drawings from Our Latest Discord Modcast
Our most recent Stages Modcast on Discord saw Mod Jerv and Mod Skylark drawing your suggestions! Mod Skylark mocked up some 3D designs beforehand, whereas Mod Jerv drew them live, all while answering your questions about art in Old School.
Many thanks to the 'Scapers who shared their fantastic drawing ideas for the Modcast, which was purely for fun and not to develop in-game content. From a Halloween-themed pumpkin-Chinchompa mash up to combining three items in one, you had very fun and creative suggestions! You can see some of the results below:
Our Discord Stages Modcasts are in a way similar to Twitch streams, featuring a variety of content ranging from Q&A sessions to collaborative art streams with the community - and more! Keep an eye on our official Discord server for more upcoming events!
New From the Community
Creator Crafted is back with new designs! Check out the Araxxor mouse pad, featuring artwork by community artist Amentos.
How about a room glow up? There are two brand new LED signs ready to brighten up your space: the Strength and Attack skill icons!
You can get 10% off any orders using the code ‘SPIDER’ at checkout. Click here to take a look!
P.S. Creator Crafted LED signs and mousepads are produced in collaboration with members of the OSRS art community, under license from Jagex. You can also discuss this update on the 2007Scape subreddit, the Steam forums, or the community-led OSRS Discord in the #gameupdate channel. Halloween Fixes & Miscellaneous Changes | October 23rd
This week brings a whole heap of small but mighty miscellaneous tweaks!
Changelog October 23rd
[expand type=show more]
PSA: As of this week, Game Jam VI is in full swing, and the team will be diving into their passion projects from October 21st to November 1st! This means there will be no game update next week on Wednesday, October 30th.
Halloween 2024 Changes
Marika will now believe you when you claim you’ve heard the cat. To help convince her, we’ve added a third chat option which lets you promise you heard it.
Moved a pumpkin in Draynor out of the path of would-be woodcutters.
Varlamore: The Rising Darkness Changes
Using the Refiner at the Mastering Mixology minigame whilst wearing Ferocious Gloves will no longer cause hands to stretch. Safety first!
Clarified the criteria for the Perfect Hueycoatl Combat Achievement.
Ironman Status Changes
An important update regarding Ironman accounts:
Previously, some Ironmen chose to lock their Ironman status 'permanently', worrying that a hijacker might downgrade it behind their back. However, over the years, we've seen an increasing number of Ironmen regret this. Additionally, we now have Jagex Accounts, bringing updated security options to keep hijackers out of the account in the first place. Therefore, as of today's update, the old 'permanent' option is no longer available. If you previously locked your Ironman status permanently and now wish to downgrade, you can do so - provided you have the security of a Jagex Account to protect your status.
Ironmen who are still concerned about a hijacker downgrading them may choose a downgrade cool-down delay of 90 days. Players whose Ironman status is due to downgrade will receive warnings on login, giving them ample chance to visit the Ironman Tutor in Lumbridge and cancel the change if they don't want it to proceed.
Arclight Changes
Arclight will no longer degrade to Darklight after running out of charges and will instead become an ‘Inactive’ version with the same stats.
Players can now use one or two Shards at a time to charge Arclight. 333 charges for one Shard, 666 for two, and 1,000 for three.
You will still require three Shards to upgrade Darklight.
A warning message will appear in chat when Arclight has 100 charges remaining.
Repositioned Arclight's Inventory icon to avoid parts being chopped off.
Run Energy Changes Beta 2.0
Our Run Energy changes second beta launches tomorrow, Thursday October 24th! This is your opportunity to test out changes that will impact all game play experiences, so do give it a go.
Other Changes
Added a visual indicator to the Tormented Demons which shows when they enter their 100% accuracy phase.
Examining the murals in the four Pyramid Plunder lobbies reveals how many of each gold chest you’ve looted.
The Araxyte Slayer Helm now correctly matches your character's skin tone.
The following weapons and armour from Varlamore have been added to the Supplies chests on PvP Arena worlds:
Blue Moon armour set and Spear
Blood Moon armour set
Eclipse Moon armour set
Eclipse Atlatl and Atlatl Darts
Dual Macuahuitl
Lumberjack Boots are now correctly proportioned to your character.
You'll no longer find yourself in an unexpected location when using the passageways to exit the Rogues’ Den maze area.
Fixed a bug causing the Skull Sceptre to forget its autocast setting when switching to another weapon and back again.
Fixed a bug causing players to teleport a few tiles when standing on the tile directly south of Miss Schism in Draynor Village.
Clicking Vorkath's Collection Log link no longer sends players to the Whisperer’s page.
Fixed an issue with the Yanille south Agility shortcut.
The Venator Ring can no longer be equipped without a Leviathan kill.
During the Colossal Hydra's special attack, the smaller Hydras are no longer able to attack you.
While it didn't affect your ability to play the minigame, we have made sure the Kraken's Tentacle is facing the right way during Fishing Trawler.
The Loot Tracker no longer counts dropped bones twice.
The Amulet of the Damned's effect now works with the Ahrim's set while manual casting as well as autocasting. Updated the set effect wording to reflect this change.
When you use 250 Firelighters to unlock a new colourway for your Phoenix pet, you will now have permanent access to that colour. After unlocking once, you can then freely use the 'Metamorphosis' option on the pet to change it.
We know there are some very dedicated fans of the Old Torva outfit, and while we currently aren't adding it to the game itself, this week we've added the files to the config. This means that RuneLite will now be able to utilise the file and give you the option to don the OG style for your own enjoyment. It's important to know that when activating it via the FashionScape plugin, the outfit will only be visible to you. The armour pieces are unavailable in the main game and are therefore untradeable, can't be sold or bought at the GE and will not leave placeholders in your Bank.
Fixed a Farming issue where curing a diseased herb could cause it to transform into a different kind of herb altogether.
Fixed an issue where the judge in King's Ransom appeared to have a beard but no head.
Added the Last Contract option when using NPC Contact, which will allow players to talk to Amy about Mahogany Homes contracts.
Enabled spectators scrying into the Theatre of Blood to be visible in the three waves previously exempt from this, meaning fighters will be able to see their audience. Public chat will be available between the fighters and spectators in the following fights:
Nylocas
Xarpus
Verzik
The latest Deadman Mode Rug item has been tweaked to make the skulls much clearer.
PvP Rota
The PvP rota has moved to Period B:
560 - (UK) - PvP World
319 - (US) - Bounty Hunter World
579 - (US) - High-Risk PvP World
561 - (UK) - Free-to-Play PvP World
580 - (US) - LMS Competitive
World 390 (AUS) for LMS Competitive has been de-activated with this rota.
World 569 (AUS) for Bounty Hunter has been de-activated with this rota.
The PvP Arena is using 'Zerker' loadouts in Ranked Duels and Tournaments this week.
Halloween 2024 Changes
We settled into spooky season last week with Marika and her pumpkin problem. Your Scarecrow Shirts and customised pumpkin heads have been the talk of all Gielinor – but we have had reports of some creepy crawly bugs that needed squashing.
Some players were reporting that Marika didn't believe them when saying they had heard the cat, even when they had! To help convince her, we've added a third chat option, which lets you promise you heard the cat – if you have in fact heard it, of course.
Moved a pumpkin decoration in Draynor so it's once again possible to go cut the oak next to the Bank without having to walk all the way around.
Reminder that if you haven't already, you can visit the farm south of Falador to start the event and snag yourself some wicked cosmetics!
It's been almost a month since Varlamore: The Rising Darkness was released. You ventured forth to explore Varlamorian ways of potion making, battle the fearsome Hueycoatl, snag yourself new rewards, take on the new Combat Achievements and more!
As always, we kept monitoring your feedback, which has led to the following fixes:
Using the Refiner at the Mastering Mixology minigame whilst wearing Ferocious Gloves will no longer make your gloves get stuck to the machine and cause your hands to stretch.
We've clarified the criteria for the Perfect Hueycoatl Combat Achievement:

Task Name Task Description Task Tier Task Category

Perfect Hueycoatl Kill the Hueycoatl perfectly 5 times without leaving. To get a perfect kill, you must not take any avoidable damage from the Hueycoatl's lightning attack, tail slam attack, or off-prayer projectile attacks. Elite Perfection

Ironman Status Changes
This week also brings an important update for Ironmen.
After the addition of While Guthix Sleeps, Arclight gained a new feature which allowed players to infuse spentcharges to count towards the 10,000-charge total required to upgrade it to Emberlight. However, when Arclight depleted to 0 charges, it automatically downgraded to Darklight, which meant your infusion progress was lost.
Following your feedback, running out of charges will now create an ‘Inactive’ version of the Arclight, which remains usable in combat with the same stats as Darklight and maintains your infusion progress.
While we were at it, we also made some additional improvements:
Players can now use one or two Shards at a time to charge Arclight. 333 charges for one Shard, 666 for two, and 1,000 for three.
You will still require three Shards to upgrade Darklight.
A warning message will appear in chat when Arclight has 100 charges remaining.
Repositioned Arclight's Inventory icon to avoid parts being chopped off.
Run Energy Changes Beta 2.0
Our second Run Energy changes beta launches tomorrow, Thursday October 24th! This is your opportunity to test out changes that will impact all game play experiences, no matter what you get up to in Gielinor.
For all the details on what these changes are and how to take part in the beta, keep your eye out for a dedicated Run Energy Changes blog on the day.
As we've stepped into the final quarter of the year, it's time for another Game Jam!
Game Jams are internal events that we run twice a year, providing us with a fantastic opportunity to come together as a team and pursue passion projects outside the normal roadmap. Previous Game Jams have introduced projects that eventually became Scurrius, Perilous Moons, the Wilderness updates, Project Rebalance, and more!
With our sixth Game Jam in full swing, the team will be diving into their passion projects from October 21st to November 1st. This means there will be no game update next week, on Wednesday, October 30th.
J-Mods will be using the #OSRSGameJam hashtag on X to share what they've been cooking - so if you want to see what we’re up to this time, make sure to check it out!
Likewise, there will also be a dedicated #Game-Jam-VI channel on our Discord server, where some J-Mods will be sharing their ideas and soliciting your feedback!
Is it a tree, or is it a J-Mod? There’s only one way to find out!
We know you lot love hide and seek, so we're hosting a J-Mod Prop Hunt event on our official Discord server this weekend! On Sunday, J-Mods will disguise themselves as props across Gielinor, and it's up to you and your fellow ‘Scapers to find them! We'll be dropping clues in the #F2P-Clues and #Members-Clues channels under the Events category on the day. Then it’s up to you to head to the right location and see what your favourite J-Mods have transformed into!
Everyone will meet in Varrock Square to kick off the event. Make sure you're in the event discussion channels in the Discord server if you plan to take part!
This is your official save the date:
This Sunday, October 27th
19:00 BST
Members World 358 | Free-to-Play World 500
Meeting point: Varrock Square
See you there!
We work alongside our Discord Volunteer Moderators to help provide you with activities and events that you can take part in. For the past couple of months, our moderators have been hard at work organising and running events both in and out of game via the server. We've had J-Mod events, player-led activities and games hosted by our mod team themselves! The team are dedicated to bringing you the activities that you want to take part in, so felt it was high time we got your feedback on what they’ve put on so far, and what you want to see in the future. So, we would love it if you could take a couple of minutes to fill this in and let the mod team know your thoughts!
We're excited to announce our next Discord Stage call!
On Tuesday, October 29th at 16:00 GMT, Mod Blossom will be joined by Mod Jerv (Concept Artist) and Mod Skylark (Character Artist) to chat about art in Old School while Mod Jerv live-draws your suggestions! We've opened up a new channel to gather your drawing ideas early, so Mod Skylark can mock some of them up in 3D to show off during the stages. Head to the Drawing Suggestions channel to start suggesting what you'd like to see created! Please bear in mind that this Stages is just for fun, and not to develop in-game items, which means you can go wild with your ideas and get creative. We can't wait to see what you come up with! We'll be opening our Ask Your Questions channel on the day of the Stages, too, so prepare any art-related questions you have and pop them in there.
Halloween is creeping up fast, and we've pinned down the perfect item for your costume! Channel the classic creepy vibes with this limited-edition Black Halloween Mask pin by the talented Angels Scapes. Check out the official merch store to get your hands on one!
