Halloween Event and update 1.3.1 released

Halloween



  • Halloween decorations have brought ghosts to the overworld - complete the coin challenge to unlock a special Halloween hat!

Game



  • Added support for overworld events where players can unlock unique outfit options.
  • Updated the camera to avoid collisions with the ground and to adjust the zoom level if a collision with an object near the camera could be avoided.
  • Added support for items with two button inputs. Default item auxiliary hotkey is shift for keyboard and left trigger for gamepads.
  • Added interface showing the keyboard controls for an item when standing on the item pad.
  • Changed glider activation to auxiliary item hotkey.
  • Added new Speed Boost item - try it out in the main park where you can find it near Star Pier.
  • Added gyroball collision sound effects.
  • Added glider wind sound effects.
  • Added text wrapping for notifications with long zone names.

Editor



  • Major performance improvement when rendering prefab button previews.
  • Added ability to rotate prefab buttons previews by right clicking and dragging. Prefab previews no longer spin continuously.
  • Changed prefab buttons previews to use the default lighting.
  • Added support to use zone generation when editing prefabs by using the destroy/generate action.
  • Added ability to enter practice mode while editing prefabs.
  • Added ability to modify spline points in the scene directly.

Engine



  • Particles now render after transparent meshes providing better transparency sorting in most situations.



The overworld will return to normal after Halloween - but a permanent Halloween level will be added to the main park later in October.

Park Bound 1.3.0 released

Update is required to play recently uploaded parks or with other players on 1.3.0. Players with older versions will be split into their own sectors.

Game



  • Added Community section in park browser for voting and subscribing to parks.
  • Changed overworld and browser park sorting to be based on the park score.
  • Subscribing to a park now shows the total treasures collected in the park browser. Also, the browser will show a plus icon when a new zone is added to a subscribed park. Must to enter the park at least once after 1.3.0 to display new interface.
  • Added text wrapping for 3D text above characters for long chat messages.

Build



  • Added ability to revert a zone to the active version in the park by right clicking on zone button.
  • Updated zone button style and added text wrapping for long level names.

Editor



  • Added new level generation tool for new levels. See the forum post.
  • Added dedicated menu for library selection on the add panel. If the library name starts with a number then number will be hidden on the library page.
  • Separated engine objects (previously named core) to it's own button in the add menu.
  • Library prefab buttons now show names on mouse-over (if a name was given). Names are also imported when adding to level.
  • Added the option to make conveyors four sided.
  • Added a hide UI hotkey (default CTRL+SHIFT+H).
  • Added OpenSimplex terrain algorithm.

  • Changed the "Remove Unused" categories to be all be checked by default.

  • Fixed prefab panel rebuilding menu each time an object was added or removed in the scene.
  • Fixed environment buttons not showing correct gradient if sky colors were recently re-ordered.

Park Bound 1.2.3 released

Game



  • Added /wave emote.
  • Updated treasure chest animation.
  • Updated menus and chat to show a player's Steam ID if their username doesn't have any printable characters.

  • Reduced stuttering that was sometimes visible on other players characters when moving.

New Zones Released!

Three new zones have been added to Park Bound: Lava Keep, Cube Garden, and Lunar Station.

Game



  • Added a new type of a zone requirement where a zone may be locked until a specific treasure is collected in the park.
  • Fixed bug where camera could incorrectly lock onto character when double jumping.
  • Fixed bug where the player could get stuck inside stationary objects.
  • Fixed bug where ball velocity wasn't reset when respawning at checkpoint.

  • Fixed bug causing major framerate drop when collecting a treasure or star for the first time.

Park Bound 1.1.8 released

Game



  • Added voting for the parks in the park info menu.
  • Added buttons to favorite and subscribe in the park info menu.
  • Added offline menu for the park browser. It will load the last played version of a park without updating through Steam. If two or more players have the same offline version they can still play together as long as "Play Online" is checked in the social settings of the menu (assuming they are both connected to the internet). Collecting treasures and stars in this mode will be included in the live park.
  • Restored two hairstyles that went missing in a previous update.
  • Added hotkeys to toggle music, sound effects, and zone sound (default M, N, and B).
  • Improved joining the same sector when entering an empty zone the same time as another player.
  • Fixed treasure collection world dimensions when the number of zones in the park is a perfect square (1, 4, 9, 16, etc).

Build Mode



  • Added library subscription interface. Prefabs in subscribed libraries are placable in the "Add" menu.

  • Modified debug launch configuration to print error messages to log.txt in the Park Bound Steam directory.

  • Added missing scale lock for stars to match other collectibles (existing levels are unchanged).

  • Changed default display mode to be windowed fullscreen (borderless windowed) for new players.

  • Added Shadow settings in the video panel. Intended for hardware that may not meet the minumum specs.
