Update #25: Performance and Wuersy
Performance and Wuersy
As we had mentioned last Update there has been a major overhaul to the AI and animation system for Parkasaurus that is bringing us one step closer to MODS. Although this work took a bit longer than we anticipated, a benefit is performance improvements for the game. Oh, and we also added a 4th member to the Stegosauria family to even it with the other dino families at 4.

Performance Optimizations
If you find performance optimization as interesting as we do – then this is what’s new. First, the guests to your park had a new AI overhaul, so no more standing around figuring out where to go. This originally wasn’t a problem for small parks, but many of you reported guest clumping and lag at higher guest counts. This was a very familiar problem for everyone who achieved Entrance Gate Level 3:
Now our guests are much smarter! Goodbye clumping! (hopefully)
We also decided to go one step farther to change your guests to enter an animation stasis when not on the screen. This combined with a more efficient mesh navigation system should result in performance improvements for many of you. Now, these improvements in theory should be more noticeable for those of you who are CPU bottlenecked instead of GPU bottlenecked. Here are some results from running the older version v 0.608 of Parkasaurus versus the new version of v 0.610:
Hopefully, the game feels a little better for you.
Wuerhosaurus
What more can we say! The Stegosauria family was feeling pretty sad with only 3 members – so now everything is even (for now).

#screenshotasaurus
We have seen really cool stories shared by the early supporters of Parkasaurus and thought to ourselves – hey, why not give some recognition. So, at the end of each week, we’ll be selecting the best image or gif that people shared with us. At the end of the year, we’ll have an uber winner! What do you win? I’m not sure – but it probably will be awesome. Or it won’t be that awesome, but you’re awesome.
Update: Winners will be able to add a name to the guest list or dino list on final 1.0 release!
How do you share with us your Parkasaurus story? Easy, send us your park shot, free camera shot, dino camera shot, or first person shot 1 of 3 ways:
<*> Visit our Discord at https://discord.gg/washbear and post to the #community_content channel and just tag your image with #screenshotasaurus
<*> Post your screenshot to the Parkasaurus Steam community hub and tag the image #screenshotasaurus
<*> Post on the Twitter and be sure to hashtag #screenshotasaurus

Parkasaurus Update #024 : MOD Preview
MOD Preview
Hi Friends! Where have we been you ask! Let me catch you all up. The two major tasks we’ve been working on is performance and workshop/mods. Now, we understand there is some serious game re-balancing, and bug fixes that are still to be done – but – from a technical perspective we would save a lot of work doing the performance improvements first for Parkasaurus. And the thing about performance work is that I rarely have any cool pictures to show. BUT, performance work also means us getting very close to implementing workshop/mods into the game. I’d like to reveal a little of what is to come:
Update:
MOD: Dino Textures
MOD: Dino Meshes (body)
MOD: Swap-able buildings
New mystery dino
Performance Improvements!

MOD: Dino Textures
We created Parkasaurus with the ideal skin textures for the spirit the game. Of course, we also always loved the idea for people to experiment and play the game the way they want, and if that means gritty Stegos or rainbow Stegos, then so be it.
Dino Meshes (body)
For those really brave souls with some mad 3D modelling/rigging skills why not create any dino that you want? Well, within reason. Also, why stop at dinos? Go crazy!
MOD: Swap-able buildings
Do you want to add your favourite TV show reference like a Banana Stand in Parkasaurus? Maybe you want to make a restaurant called “The Max”, or create a mini Eiffel Tower? There is a possibility you also will be able to change the stats and values of the building– although we’re still investigating the details on this.
New mystery dino
New dinos will be populating Parkasaurus as we move forward into the new year. Any guesses?
Performance Improvements!
We lifted up the hood on Parkasaurus and looked at the issue of your parks slowing down with a lot of guests. We cut wires, re-routed all the megabits, and added a few extra dino-RAM hertz cycles. Doing a few last checks – and we’ll soon be rolling out what we hope will be a nice performance boost. More details next update.

To all you early supporters – thanks a ton. Don’t worry, we’re still thinking of something awesome to give everyone who has helped us in Early Access.

Parkasaurus Update #023 : Pause!
Pause!
Hello Dino Best Friend Club. Let’s see. The development of Parkasaurus is humming right along nicely – thanks again to all the early supporters. The two of us settled on our roadmap for the next few months, and have our eyes set on some cool ideas. For those of you who haven’t quite gotten onto the Parkasaurus train yet, we hope you join soon - this is the time to get in early with the game and help us choose the direction of Parkasaurus. Ok Ok, enough, I get it.
Update:
Pause feature (Customize mode)
Cloud Saves
Japanese Localization
Pause feature (Customize mode)
This was the biggest criticism and feedback we received from players early on. There was a real annoyance at the game when people were kicked into the End of Day screen. We have been hesitant to introduce this feature for a few reasons, some of them being: it is hard for us to do, we thought it might make dino escapes too easy, people would pause – spend their money – then have to wait around. So – as a compromise, we made the feature (it was tricky) and will try it out in Customize mode. We look forward to hearing about the feedback and how this works with the game.
Cloud Saves
Holy moly where did this come from? Now you can continue your park at work; because work isn’t fun, building Dino parks is. Please if you see a Cloud Save bug or something fishy, submit a bug report. We tested this feature thoroughly, but are definitely nervous about it.
Japanese Localization
We are very excited about having Parkasaurus localized in Japanese. The Japanese Steam community has been really great so far, and we ’re happy to have the game localized for them. A special shout out to our Japanese Dino Friend “Y” who volunteered the ENTIRE translation. AMAZING. I will have a special post about all our internet friends who have very generously donated their time to help translate the game.
Parkasaurus has arrived
The two of us are trying our hardest to get the Parkasaurus word out to the interwebz, and we see all of you helping out! Make a Steam review! Tell your friend! Being a Parkasaurus Advocate is such a big help to us.

Update #22: Parkasaurus Collaboration
Parkasaurus Collaboration
Hi Dino friends! Well, we’re two weeks in since Parkasaurus and everything is going great!
Thanks to ALL the early supporters of the game – being an early supporter is a vote of confidence for our vision and really motivates the two of us. Extra thanks to all of you who have made a Steam review (Very Positive) for Parkasaurus or told your friends about us. TY!
This is just the beginning. The last two weeks have kept us very busy fixing bugs, adding some fun features like First Player mode, and sneaking in a few more languages. Now we are chatting with all of you on our Discord channel, forums and Twitter, and receiving great feedback.
This is the time to get in early with the game and help us choose the direction of Parkasaurus.

Press coverage!
The press coverage has been really solid for Parkasaurus and I just wanted to high-lite a few exceptional pieces:
Rock, Paper, Shotgun

This was a feature we never had time to finish – and we were not entirely sure of the demand for it. Needless to say, this was our first mini update feature and we think it went over pretty well.

Community Feedback
So far the most exciting part of releasing Parkasaurus is seeing the cool ideas and positive reception from the community. We are receiving a lot of good ideas that we're trying to implement in the game – you’re all awesome. Here are just a few of the submitted park pictures to our Discord channel.
Delete Tool
An example of community feedback put into action was the request for a better deletion tool when it comes to vegetation. We had initially included the delete tool to include all items in the game – then mistakenly deleted a $10000 Banana Stand. Not cool. Ok, yes, money is … fairly easy to get at the moment, but that is changing. In the meantime – uber delete tool:
