Patch 0.4 Preview
Irreversible changes are coming to our Realms... No more peaceful and quiet sunny days for all the time! Prepare a warm and waterproof coat cause you'll probably get wet!
“Weather conditions”
Firstly, with Patch v0.4 comes Weather System. Diversity of weather conditions will breathe more life into the Old Kingdom, making it feel more alive and immersive. We also improved looks of grass, leaves and other details. More “living” elements of the world will come within next months.

“Racial Abilities”
Our missing RPG element that you asked for and we promised to implement. All character races in Realms of Magic will acquire their own unique set of bonuses and abilities. You can learn more about it during new game creation process. Unfortunately the “size” of dwarves will stay the same.. for now. Existing characters will gain the bonuses automatically after patch release.
“New character creation screen”
We have cleaned up character creation screen to make it more ergonomic and pleasant in use. Completely new colour palette will also make your characters look and feel better.
No more ugly, splotchy faces! ;)
“Character recustomization system”
Ingame option that will allow you to recreate the look of already created characters. You will be able to change face and skin appearance. Your initially chosen character race, will be unchangeable during later gameplay.
“The Witch”
New special NPC appears in Realms of Magic. Find magical hut of The Witch and help her with a very special task… She will offer you unique furniture and items that can’t be acquired anywhere else.
“Tons of new items”
Huge amount of new blocks, furniture and decoration items of races living in Realms of Magic. To make it a fact - content items are always something that you can expect in main version updates for now and the future.
“Mansions not for sale”
New quests and tasks. Some of quests will reward you in a very special way. Be helpful and don’t lose your chance to get rich and recognized by the Old Kingdom society.
“Crash report system”
You’ll be able to send trouble reports directly to our team after unexpected game crash.
“Save System”
You asked - we delivered. New Save System will let you save your game manually on different save slots. Every slot is connected to each character so there will be no mess if you are playing on few characters at once. Try your ideas without consequences! Quick save (F5) and quick load (F9) will also be available to use.
“Official Discord Server”
Official Realms of Magic Discord server have launched. It’s a cool place to talk and share your opinions for all active members of our community.

The Future Ahead
Hey!
We want to let you know what we’ve been up to for the past several months. Right after we released version 0.3 we took a step back to analyze what we’ve already created and revisited our plans for this year.
Where are we now?
We’ve managed to achieve something we are really proud of - we’ve created a game that pulled in thousands of people for a really long time, dozens of players even spent more than one hundred hours in our game! Realms of Magic was played for a total of around 50 000 hours!
These numbers make us really happy, however they also motivate us to create something even greater - and this is what we want to focus on in the near future - creating better, more immersive and more satisfying experience. Instead of only adding new content to the game we also want to focus on improving some of the core gameplay mechanics that we feel we could do a better job on. That doesn’t mean that new content isn’t coming, in every major update we want to introduce something new and fresh for existing players.
Where are we going?
One of core mechanics that will be drastically overhauled is combat. Our goal is to create challenging and dynamic system that will not only be interesting on the mechanical side but will also be visually spectacular.
Another major aspect that will be improved is roleplaying, exploration and questing. We want our game to be a fully-fledged RPG, and in order to achieve that we will be improving the way we create quests and write dialogues - that means more choices, more consequences and more questlines.
A very important part of RPGs is character progression. We want leveling up and spending talents to be even more exciting. To do that we will be replacing majority of passive talents like increased HP or increased melee damage with classic stats like Strength or Endurance. Every level you will get several stat points and one talent point, which you will spend on talents that actually change the way you play.
One of the core elements that we want to improve is the world itself - we want it to feel like living, breathing world. Things like weather system, visual improvements, more alive NPCs and dynamic events are features that have a goal of making the world feel alive.
When on the subject of the world, we want to improve the way in which the world is presented to the player and how he is guided through it. We also want to revamp parts of the world that are in our opinion the weakest, especially the randomly generated ones. Mining and hunting/gathering would be much more interesting if you could find caves, structures and diverse random encounters.
We will be also revisiting some of the professions and adding many more recipes and tiers to them. We feel that several professions like Blacksmithing, Leatherworking or Tailoring feel a little lackluster compared to other professions such as Crafting or Cooking.
Plans for 2018
We want to deliver everything described above this year. Version 0.4 is coming in July and you can expect the patch preview next week.

After version 0.4 we want to release two other major updates this year. Version 0.5 will focus on overhauling the world and quests. Version 0.6 will feature combat overhaul.

Version 0.3 Preview
Our wonderful world will expand pretty soon... The most important thing we would like to share with you firstly is the fact that exploring all new implemented content will take twice much time compared to the current version! New fire magic skill tree, items, quests and locations aren't everything we have prepared for you. Our team was mostly focused on improving gameplay experience to make it more friendly and intuitive for RoM players. We realize how important the mechanics of gameplay are. That is why we’re trying to listen carefully to all comments and suggestions from our community. Implementing the most useful ones is our priority and goal in everyday work. Let's get started!
To make the life easier and better we added a few things. Here are the new features and improvements we didn't announce before or were only briefly mentioned:
Crafting
Search functionality will allow you to find a specific item faster.
"Total items crafted" shows how many items will by crafted at once.
"Entering items quantity" - You will be able to enter a precise number of items to craft.
"Crafting uses nearest containers" - Items stored in nearby containers will be now used automatically to craft items. There will be no need to keep all of them in your backpack.
Backpack
Easier bag replacement with smarter swap system.
Bag sorting - Yes! We all have been waiting for it!
Quick Stack button
Yay! Another feature that all asked for! :) No more slow and painful container management.
Slot Locking
"Locked" items will always go back to chosen slot after they've been dropped and picked up. Hold “Alt” and click LMB on the item to “lock” it to the slot.
Stack splitting
Easier method of splitting items in a stack. Holding "Ctrl" and clicking on the item will now allow you to set a number of moved items.
Total value
Instead of showing value of only one item in stack, you can also see the price of the whole stack.
Additional mouse buttons binding
Bind your rat buttons whenever you like to play more comfortably.
Elixirs
Increased duration time from 5 to 15 minutes.

First magic school is FIRE. Let’s take a close look at Fire magic skill tree:
Fireball is basically a thrown ball of fire. :)
Flames work just like a flamethrower.
Burning Rush will ignite the path you step on and increase your movement speed.
Firelings follow your character and damage your enemies.
Magic Fire lightens the path like a torch, releasing your second hand.
Cooking profession has been updated with new recipes. Previously you could only boost your Health Points with food, now all 3 main stats can be improved.
Meat based dishes provide HP buff
Vegetable based dishes provide SP buff
Fruit based dishes and sweets provide MP buff

You can now easily check all of your personal statistics in a dedicated tab.
Signpost system
Put your signpost or locate one in the villages to make a shortcut in your next location visit.
Trading profession
New profession will provide you with better prices offered by merchants. Trade everyday to practice your skills.
Different armor types
The weight and type of armor will matter now. Choose equipment that well fits your battle predispositions!
Sleeping system
The bed now serves its original purpose. :)
Location Regeneration
Plants and creatures will regenerate on locations which have not been visited for a long time.
Valentine Event
It will last for a one week after patch 0.3 release.
All features and content are already implemented. The only things left to do are polishing, testing, bugfixing, polishing, balancing, tweaking and finally polishing.
So when is 0.3 coming? Currently we are aiming for the next week, the worst case scenario is one week after that. Update 0.3 was originally planned as 1.5 months patch, which later turned to 2 months and now is 2.5 month update. While the time increased so did the number of features, content and polish.
We believe the 2-3 months update cycle to be optimal amount of time for major patches. It’s long enough to give us time to produce big and high quality features and content, and short enough that there is always something new waiting around the corner for you. Our main goal with major content updates is to give you a big reason to go back to the realms and stay for a while.
