Improvements



  • Upgraded the base engine from Unity 2018.4.23f1 to 2019.4.0f1. This new release includes a fix for the performance issue that was occurring when multiple animations were executing simultaneously, along with hundreds of other engine fixes. As it's such a big upgrade, it may have introduced new bugs, although I've tested it a lot over the last couple of days on both Windows 10 and macOS Catalina.


Bug fixes



  • Reduced number of materials that are being offloaded to the GPU. This will reduce the chance of a crash occurring when using older graphics cards.
  • Some effects were being rendered as pink squares due to the shader keyword limit of 256 being reached. Fixed by converting some shader keywords from global to local.
  • Fixed a bug where it was sometimes not possible to select Options or Chapter Select from the Home screen after selecting "Exit to Home screen".
  • [Saint Sophia] It was possible to run through the female centaurs. Fixed.
  • [Saint Sophia] A document was automatically collected when smashing the supply crate. Fixed.


Other Stuff



  • Here's a code: select Unlock Goodies from the menu and enter ASTEROID to unlock up to 12 new items for Lux. :)

Bug fixes



  • The "Dance, Dance, Dance" achievement was not being unlocked. Fixed. Unfortunately you'll need to revisit those three locations again (e.g. using Chapter Select) and make Lux dance in the right place to unlock the achievement.
  • Fixed a bug which allowed Lux to jump way higher than intended if the Jump and Roll keys/buttons were pressed at the same time. This resulted in some players jumping outside of the playable area, which generated lots of unrelated bugs that crashed the game.
  • [Elysian Rendition] Outside the house where Mills was waiting, there was a grey wall protruding when viewed from one angle. Fixed.


Other Stuff



  • The performance issues that players are seeing (especially in Saint Sophia and New Shinjuku) appear to be directly related to a known issue in the Unity engine. I'm working around this as much as possible by placing a trigger around each NPC to only activate the Animator component when Lux is nearby. Unity has announced that they have a fix - I'm now just waiting for it to be implemented in their next release. As soon as I have it, I'll publish a fresh build.
  • Updated the Unity game engine to LTS release 2018.4.23f1. Unity says on their Issue Tracker that this fixes the performance bug, but in the release notes it says that it's still outstanding. If it's not in this release, it should be fixed in the next release, which is due to drop any day now (probably early next week).
  • Once again, here's a code: select Unlock Goodies from the menu and enter SUNVENUS to unlock up to 12 new items for Lux!
  • Thanks once again to all the people who've submitted issues through Send Diagnostics, it really helps me improve the game. :)

Bug fixes



  • Favourite outfits couldn't be selected when using a gamepad. Fixed.
  • Unlock Goodies was not allowing keyboard input to enter the code if a gamepad was connected. Fixed.
  • [Dogan Outpost] Found some new places where it was possible to jump the fence and visit areas out of the playable boundaries. Fixed.
  • [Dogan Outpost] Lux could get trapped by invisible walls near the car before blowing it up. Fixed.
  • [New Shinjuku] Fixed a rare bug where the game could fail to recognise that all 10 blood samples had been collected, so the mission would not end.
  • [Elysian Rendition] Exorcising the ghost after defeating Mills would cause Lux to exit the windmill. Fixed.

Other Stuff



  • There's an issue with vSync which I'm investigating. It appears to be related to a known bug in Unity.
  • Use code VIRUSSUX to unlock up to 12 items for Lux!

New Features



  • Outfits! You can now dress Lux in your favourite items and save it as an outfit. You can store up to 5 different outfits.


Bug fixes



  • Lux no longer tries to look at you while she's moving - it looked unnatural.
  • [Dogan Outpost] By jumping on the car, it was possible to blow it up before collecting the tech, and this broke the flow of the objectives. Fixed.
  • [Dogan Outpost] The explosion caused by blowing up the car was being rendered as pink squares, due to an issue with the shader keywords. Fixed.
  • [Dogan Outpost] Fixed some graphics glitches where you could see behind a wall by standing next to it and rotating the camera.
  • [Hart Residence] The lamp outside the Hart Residence was casting light and shadows correctly, but it wasn't actually glowing. Fixed.
  • [Hart Residence] It was possible to walk through the bathtub. Fixed.


Improvements



  • Reduced RHETT's volume by 10% (he was too loud).
  • Increased damage from Lux's guns by another 5%.
  • Increased damage from the rocket launcher by 80% - it was definitely underpowered.

  • Thanks again to everyone providing feedback and reporting bugs and suggestions through Send Diagnostics! It really helps me out - every bug fix and improvement in this build was due to someone in the community doing this. :)

Hotfix build 20200502 is live

Bug fixes



  • Applied a hotfix to correct an error introduced in yesterday's build. The error caused the game to slowdown. My apologies to all! Fixed.


Note for macOS players



  • It's still running a little slow in some places on the Mac (e.g. in Saint Sophia). If you experience any issues, please try tweaking the performance settings (select Options from the game's menu). I'm working on this issue.

Bug fixes



  • [Dogan Outpost] Fixed a bug where it was impossible to equip the pistol at the start of Dogan Outpost.
  • [Dogan Outpost] Fixed a rare bug where it was possible to collect more than 4 flash drives and then impossible to end the mission.
  • [Mogwai] By creatively jumping, it was possible to enter the water near the carousel and get stuck there. Fixed.
  • Tweaked vSync settings to fix the "Benny Hill" issue. It's untested as I can't reproduce the bug, but this should help.
  • Fixed a bug in the Weapons window that could result in a padlock being displayed by default, rather than an unlocked gun like the pistol.


Improvements



  • All guns now deliver 10% more damage (they were under-powered).


Other Stuff



  • At present, you can't remap your keys from the Home screen (the first screen with the candle) - you have to wait until Lux enters the game. I'm looking at fixing that for the next build, but I didn't get time to get it into today's build (as the bug that stops players equipping the pistol is urgent).
  • Updated the news text that's displayed when you access the menu.
  • Check your social media for a code to unlock up to 12 items for Lux. Each code expires when the next build is released (usually about 2 weeks). If you don't use social media, check the discussion forums on Steam, I'll post the unlock code there before it expires.

Bug fixes



  • Fixed a bug where it was impossible to close the "New save file format" window if using a controller.
  • The Home screen now detects if you hot-swap between a controller and a keyboard/mouse and dynamically changes the on-screen prompts to match the input device.


Improvements



  • [Elsyian Windmill] After the battle with Mills, Lux's flashlight now automatically switches off when she approaches the exit. I've added this because it was difficult to see the "Exit" prompt on the door because her flashlight was so bright, which could lead to players thinking the game had stalled.

Bug fixes



  • [TRC] The colliders were missing on the pipes, the blue benches and a desk in the Redaction Commission spaceship, so Lux could walk through them. Fixed.
  • [TRC] The scale of Waters' desk at the TRC was way too big. Fixed.
  • [Mogwai] Fixed a bug where Lux could get stuck on the geometry at the top of the stairs after the fight outside the monastery.
  • [Dogan Outpost] The game's event sequence could be broken by mashing the controller buttons to allow Lux to leap over a wall to the soldiers below. Fixed.
  • [Dogan Outpost] Fixed a bug where the active task "Find some gasoline" would still appear in the UI after Lux had found the petrol container.
  • [Dogan Outpost] Fixed a bug where the active task "Incinerate the car" would still appear in the UI after Lux had torched the car.
  • Fixed a rare error which could occur if a dialogue was cancelled while an animation was running on an NPC.


Other Stuff



  • Thanks so much to the players who keep reporting issues via Send Diagnostics. When you use this, it sends me additional information on top of what you type in: for example, it sends the (x,y,z) coordinates of Lux's current position and the game's error log. For many issues, it makes a big difference when they're reported this way, so thanks again.
  • I've noticed at least three issues recently where players have managed to jump outside of the map somehow. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to work out how they did it. When you do this, I'd really appreciate it if you could create a Send Diagnostics report and include a brief explanation of what you did. This will allow me to patch the game and fix the problem permanently. Thanks in advance. :)

Bug fixes



  • Fixed a bug where Lux would sometimes appear naked when switching to a new outfit using a controller.
  • Fixed a bug which (under certain conditions) could cause the game's progression to stall after picking up an object (e.g. the flash drives in Dogan Outpost).
  • [Rosa Park] Added a collider around the boats to prevent Lux from boarding them and getting stuck.
  • [Rosa Park] Fixed a bug where Lux could get stuck in the floorboards upstairs in one of the rooms in the mansion. This stopped her walking, jumping, dancing, etc and the game had to be restarted.
  • [Saint Sophia] One of the chupacabras in the lair could be spawned inside a wall. Fixed.

  • Upgraded the Unity runtime engine to version 2018.4.19. This fixes various underlying bugs in the engine itself.

  • [Rosa Park] Removed the raptors from the fight with the agents when Lux is collecting their eyeballs, as this could cause an incorrect kill count in some situations.
