Some Good News and A Bad One

Hi Ninjas,

We have some good news and bad news to announce.

--------

First the good.

We have published a long overdue Quickstart Manual for new Sairento players and a series of more comprehensive guides for those who are interested in relic stats and skills.

The Quickstart Manual can be found here -
http://store.steampowered.com/manual/555880

The more advanced Guides can be found here -
http://steamcommunity.com/app/555880/guides/

--------

Now the bad.

We are very very very very sorry but we have decided to push back the exit from Early Access until 6 February 2018 and with it the Campaign Mode for the following reasons.

- We want to improve the game even more
- There are still some bugs left to catch
- We want to make the AI smarter

In short, we could bring the game out of EA with the faults we are seeing, or we could give it a little bit more time and give you a much better game.

This also impacts our launch on Oculus Home which may come a little later as we need to spend more time testing the game on the platform.

We would like to apologize unreservedly and sincerely for the delay, but know that it is for a good reason and we are working round the clock to bring you a great experience.

We hope for your kind understanding.

--------

But here's another piece of good news.

On the 19th - which we originally slated to come out of EA - we would be pushing out an update which would hopefully compensate some for the delay in the launch.

It will include a plethora of things that many of you guys have been asking for:

- Tons of bug fixes
- More level variety
- More recording options
- More improvements to stealth AI
- Mirroring a third person view to the screen
- Better calibration process
- Improved Touch control integration and support (you can now toggle sticky grip and grip to hold)

--------

Once again, we apologize sincerely for having to postpone the exit from Early Access. We hope we can have your kind blessing and understanding for doing this.

Sincerely,
The Sairento VR Team

Christmas Comes Early (0.8.0p5 Released)!

Fellow ninjas, today marks one whole year since Sairento VR was first released into Early Access. A huge thanks goes to the players that have stuck by us from our humble beginnings (you know who you are), and have been so helpful with filing bug reports and giving suggestions. We are glad to have players as passionate in playing our game as we are in crafting it.

Today we take the Sairento experience a step further with two new maps and a third person recording system, which many of you have been clamoring for since our early days. We look forward to seeing all the cool videos you guys can come up with.

Check out the nifty trailer we've put together to showcase the warped beauty and serenity of how enemies are taken out in Sairento using the recording system.

Sairento VR's Full Release Date Confirmed!

Sairento VR is coming out of the woods from Early Access and doing a simultaneous launch on the Vive and Oculus on 19 January 2018!

With the launch, the story campaign mode will be available to play! It adds on a narrative element to the world of Sairento, and sets the stage for... shall we say, much bigger plans we have in store down the road.

An early version of our game play recording feature where you can see yourself play in 3rd person perspective glory (with thanks again to the guys at Pryde VR ) will soon be included as well. You can access the record button on your wrist menu. More options to control the angle and flow of the recording will come soon.

Thank you once again to all our fans for being so supportive of the work we've been doing. While the release marks the 1.0 version of Sairento, know that we have more fixes and content lined up in the coming months to make this game an even more definitive version of the one true VR ninja experience.

Meanwhile, enjoy this new trailer we've made with a sneak preview of the story mode, a 3rd person perspective recording and more glorious ninja mayhem!

Sneak Peek : Gameplay Recording

One commonly requested feature is the ability to record the in-game avatar as you slice and dice through the hordes of enemies. Well, there won't be much longer to wait :)

We're still finetuning the gameplay record feature (a big thanks to the fine and helpful folks over at PrydeVR), but the following gif will give you a good idea of what it'll look like.

With that said, there are some caveats that we hope to address at a later stage - touchpad locomotion, jumping, and wallrunning are lacking lower body animations at the moment (your crouch state is based on height calibration and whether you are crouching in the playarea).

## 0.7.0 (2017-11-10) - Build 92

Fresh off the stove - the latest update brings in several cool new things.

First up, you can now identify the attentiveness of your foes through the color of their silhouette, unlocked by having at least 1 point in the Heightened Senses skill tree.

Unsuspecting enemies will be in gray. They have a reduced cone of vision and will slowly wander through the environment. They will become cautious (yellow) if they hear a noise (e.g gunfire or the death of an ally). This progresses to suspicious (orange) if the events persist or they spot a glimpse of the player. They will begin chasing down the last known position of the player. Finally, an alerted (red) enemy has seen the player and will hunt them down ruthlessly. Attacks against an unsuspecting or cautious enemy deal more damage.

Additionally, we've expanded our roster of maps with 2 new levels : the Arena and the Observatory. The Arena is a wide open platform over a body of water, perfect for a good old fashion, last man standing brawl. The Observatory is a procedural map, taking you through several claustrophobic hallways and rooms, where combat gets close and personal.

Snipers have gotten a quality of life change, and their targeting laser lock-on effect is much more visible now no matter where they are. You are now also able to dodge the shots if you time your dodges right. To balance this, snipers no longer flinch when attacked.

The Geisha's close range cyclone has been tweaked as it did not allow for fun and complex melee play near her. She now telegraphs an area of attack with a red cyclone, damaging the player if they remain within the zone after a brief period of time.

Read more about these changes and more in the full changelog below :

- Added new map : Arena
- Added new map : Observatory
- Operations tab renamed to Missions tab.
- You can toggle between the legacy map view and the Operations system.
- Map missions are one-off missions that do not have completion bonuses from the Operations.
- Added stealth kill system
- Attacks while an enemy is in an unalerted state deals 200% more damage.
- Killing enemies will alert enemies to your current location.
- Upon spotting you, enemies will shift to an alerted state.
- All weapons apart from melee and projectile weapons are considered as noisy and will alert enemies.
- When using Heightened Senses, unalerted enemies will be highlighted in gray, cautious in yellow, suspicious in orange, and alerted in red.
- Suspicious enemies will return to a cautious state if they are unable to find the player.
- The statue in the dojo now serves as a DPS test dummy.
- For each jump, you can only rotate your play area once. This is to avoid compounding inaccuracy in positioning that arise from multiple rotations.
- Updated Sniper's lockon effect - it is now immediately more obvious when they are targetting you. 9 lines will converge about you into one line to
signify that they have a lock on.
- Updated Geisha's close range attack
- Updated Hall map
- Updated music tracks
- Sniper is now slightly more proactive and less likely to camp in one spot for an extended period of time.
- Fixes for co-op voice chat.
- Fixed missing visual effects on Kunoichi's trap.
- Fixed wrist menu placement when holding something in that hand.
- Fixed dual wielding damage calculation bug.
- Fixed player jittering on the ground on occasion.
