Savage Lands

Hotfix (Build 20) Live + Patch Notes

Savage Landers!

The Last Bastion team found several issues we wanted to quickly address. Please review the notes below for more details.

IMPORTANT: World Update

Due to the vast number of changes to the terrain and objects across all the islands done in Build 9, we are recommending existing players returning to the game from prior releases create new worlds. Because of all these changes, we cannot guarantee the integrity of your world saves prior to this update. Existing characters are fine to use.

If you are new to the game, this does not apply.

IMPORTANT: Video Settings Update

FOR THIS BUILD we do recommend EXISTING players take the following steps to refresh their video settings:
  • Go into Options
  • Click Settings
  • Click Default
  • Click Apply

Once this is done please adjust the options as you see fit. This will clean out any residual data from previous builds. We do apologize for the inconvenience.

  • Balance: Greater Hal Potion now has a 100% chance to stop bleeding

Known Issues

  • "Plagued by Wolves" achievement not completing for some characters created before Build 9.
  • When a Summoning Orb is activated, players will need to scroll up in the UI to see the list of players in the game session
  • AI pathing near the towers and rocky areas of Freydalyn still have potential issues. These will be remedied over the next several updates due to the size and complexity of the island
  • (Linux) Settings menu does not appear ingame. Video settings tweaks must be changed from the main menu.
  • Portals cause a dip in FPS on lower end machines when the camera is focused directly on them

New Savage Lands Game Update (Build 9) Live!

Hello Savages!

Last Bastion Studios is pleased to announce the release of our latest Game Update (Build 9) to the public. The LBS team has spent 3 months working on tons of fixes, tweaks, and balance changes to make a better game for you the players. Much of the work that went into this update was at the request of the community along with things we felt would help make a better game. The LBS team also tuned up the art giving the Savage Lands a much ominous look and feel. There is still more work to do and we look forward to your feedback.

Below is a high level overview of what to expect. For more detailed information and a full list of changes please visit our forums.

Art Changes

New Colors, the Rebirth of the Savage Lands: Over the last several months Last Bastion spent a lot of time reviewing the old art style found in 422. Our conclusion was that the current implementation with its smoggy atmosphere, dirty/muddy snow, and color palette simply did not sell a world that was frozen by bitter cold and battle worn by war. So we did a lot of research. We studied the landscapes, skies, snow and fauna of real world locations and then applied those color palettes to the game. With our most recent update, we've re-envisioned colors, lightning and general atmosphere to give the game a fresh new look and tell a stronger visual narrative about the soul of Savage Lands.

AI Updates

Work has continued across the AI systems. Creature attack ranges have been further adjusted to reduce damage from long distances, pathing around objects have been tuned, and spawners rebalanced.

Player Progression and Item Balance

This update will change the crafting experience. Some items and armor have gone through balance changes to better fit the progression we envision for the game. This is an ongoing process and will take multiple updates before it is complete

Thanks again for all the support!

As promised, below is a list of improvements and changes that you will find in latest Savage Lands Game Update (Version 422) provided by Last Bastion Studios.

Performance Improvements

Additional work was done to various game objects/props across the world to make them more performant. Players should see an FPS increase (on most machines that are minimum spec and above) of 15%-20%.
Note: Savage Lands does require a 64Bit OS to play.

AI Attack Ranges

Combat should feel a bit more fair, creature attack ranges have been turned down. Might need some more work, but please let us know if there are specific creatures that have issues.

Snowmere Update

Snowmere has been revamped to help new players ease into the experience, changes include:

[List]<*>Random drops added to fit early progression
<*>Drops for creatures on Snowmere rebalanced to better fit progression rework that will take place over the next several updates.

Build 421 Released as default! Patch Notes for 2/17

From the second you launch into a new world, you will notice the improved load times. As you navigate the iced lands before you, the experience is drastically improved with this update!

Pathing and avoidance around structures, objects and other creatures much improved

What this means is the AI will be functioning properly again. They will not be attacking you through walls, taking backpack rides on each other or standing around while you beat them in the face. Navigation should be drastically improved.
