Sheltered Raids Update V1.1
Sheltered’s now been out just over a month and we’ve been blown away by the response from both the Early Access veteran survivors and those that have just joined the wasteland.
We’re excited to announce that we’re releasing an update today that adds exciting new elements to the raids system.
We’ve been sifting through community feedback since launch and we’ve been hard at work on this update that we hope you’ll be excited about!
So without further ado, here’s the changes in this update:
Main changes:
• 1v1 combat now initiates between an inhabitant and a raider when they get close to each other within the shelter.
• New combat location “The Shelter”.
• Close quarters weapons can be taken into combat within the shelter if the item is in the shelter inventory when the raid begins. (Weapons are automatically assigned based on strength and damage dealt.)
• Traps now deal damage instead of killing NPC characters outright.
• Inhabitants can wear Good and Excellent body armour during shelter combat, if the item is in the shelter inventory when the raid begins.
Balancing tweaks and changes:
• Inhabitants in the shelter can be controlled during a shelter breach.
o Inhabitants with the cowardice trait still cannot be controlled during a shelter breach.
• The murder action has been removed from the NPC raiders.
• NPC raiders can still steal and break items whilst raiding the shelter.
• Breach frequency has been tweaked to occur more often.
• Characters are no longer automated or perform idle walking when a breach occurs.
• Breachers face the door when breaking into the shelter.
• Damage text appears next to traps that successfully hit breachers.
• The amount of items NPCs can steal has been tweaked.
So you’ll now have the ability to take the raiders on but you still have the opportunity to take advantage of hiding spots or running away from raiders.
We’d love to get your feedback on the update and everything Sheltered, so make sure you stop by the discussion forum! And if you like the update please give the announcement a thumbs up!

Survivors,
We’ve made some changes and fixes for Sheltered that we wanted to get out before the next update. First up is some changes to the raids mechanic, which we’ve altered based on community feedback. We still have plans for potential ways of improving the mechanics, but we think this is a step in the right direction. We’ve also made a couple bug fixes to fix issues that were affecting some Sheltered players.
Here’s the full list of changes:
• Breaches will no longer occur before day 50.
• Increased the length of time between breaches.

Survivors! We need your help!
Hey there, survivors!
Come in and warm yourself up by the fire. I have a little food to spare so grab what you need, take a seat on the comfy chairs, and make yourselves comfortable.
Anyway, now that you’re here we would like to talk to you about something really exciting. There will be new content available soon for Sheltered. We can’t say much about it at the moment. However, what we are looking for are a few willing participants who can help us out with some quick-turnaround feedback.
Who are we looking for?
Ideally, we need players who • Are playing, or have played Sheltered with no less than 99 days in-game time, and still have this save file.
• Possess a good all-round knowledge of Sheltered game play and features.
• Will complete an in-depth open-ended survey about the content
• After signing a Non-Disclosure Agreement, will not discuss the content, share screenshots, game play videos etc.
Additionally ….
If you live in or around the Yorkshire (UK) area, we’d love to invite you to the Team17 shelter to play the game, and give us feedback. You would need to bring your Sheltered save file with you.
Please note
We realise that you, the players, have bought Early Access to the game and we want to assure you that the content update will be coming to everyone eventually. This initial process is for refining the new game play content and we need select feedback for remote usability testing before rolling the update wider.
I want to help! What should I do now?
If you want to help out with this update, email usability@team17.com – with your name, and a link to your Steam account.
If you’re interested in helping us out with any future remote testing opportunities, then you can register your interest on the Team17 usability webpage - http://www.team17.com/usability/
Unfortunately we can’t reply to everyone who wants to help out. If you don’t hear from us, we’d like to thank you in advance for your help.
Many thanks, survivors!
