SnowRunner

The 16.1 update and the Crocodile Pack DLC are available today!

Hello Runners!

We’re happy to announce that SnowRunner expands its roster of tough and powerful vehicles with the new Crocodile Pack, available today on Steam! Nicknamed after the timeless reptile for its signature shape and deep engine bellowing, the brand new Step 33-64 “Crocodile” truck comes with three uniquely styled add-ons. Check it out in today’s new screenshots!

A jack-of-all-trades with a vintage, no-nonsense design

The Step 33-64 “Crocodile” is as versatile as it is humble, able to switch between tasks and terrains without a hitch. Accompanying the Step 33-64 in the Crocodile Pack come three visually unique add-ons to complete the vintage look; Rescue vehicles with the maintenance and fuel add-ons, and haul cargo with the side-board. Rumbling through wild and snowy forests in the Step 33-64, it’s easy to forget the year, as well as the passing of time.

The Crocodile Pack is available today for purchase on Steam as a standalone DLC. The ultimate off-roading experience, SnowRunner, its Year 1 and Year 2 Passes are available now on Steam. For more information, visit our official store page.

February Community Update

Hello Runners!

We’re back for another Monthly Community Update! It may not seem from the outside, but it has been a very busy month for SnowRunner! Let’s see what’s going on backstage!

Here’s our Valentine, who’s yours?

A new patch is on its way!

We’re planning to release the 16.1 patch early March! This patch will bring bug fixes (to photo mode, UI, vehicles and more), as well as the long awaited crossplay with Xbox consoles! We’re so happy to finally bring crossplay to Xbox, and that means the only platform not yet compatible with crossplay is the Nintendo Switch. But don’t worry, we’re working hard to extend crossplay to Switch as well!
There will be a short maintenance of service (around 30 minutes) before the update. For those wondering, the complete detailed patch notes will be available as soon as the update is live. Make sure to follow our social media channels not to miss it! (Twitter, Facebook, Discord)

A glimpse of Season 7: Compete & Conquer

As we were saying in the introduction, it has been a very busy month from our side! As you can expect, our teams are fully dedicated to the preparation of Season 7. We can’t share a lot with you yet, but here’s a first view of what awaits you next season:

What do you mean “we don’t see anything?”

“Compete & Conquer” will take place in Tennessee, and will include new vehicles and brand new activities (and as one can guess, there will be competition!). It’s still a bit too early for us to disclose more, but you’ll soon hear more about this new season!
What are you competing for? Give us your best guess in the comments below!

What’s next?

As we previously stated, we’re fully focused on bringing Season 7 to the game. Of course, it doesn’t mean that we’re putting aside the port of the game on next gen consoles. In fact, we made another step forward in bringing SnowRunner to these consoles. We thank you once again for your patience and understanding.

We’re also focused on extending crossplay to Nintendo Switch, you can expect the feature to arrive in the future months.

At the same time, the team is also working on solving various reported bugs. Your feedback and suggestions are truly motivating and help us move forward and improve the game, so once again, thank you so much for your involvement and your dedication!

That’s it for this month! We’re heading towards exciting times for SnowRunner, and we can’t wait to share more with you about what’s coming next!

See you in the snow!

The Saber and Focus teams.

We are very happy to see that crossplay is working great on PC and PlayStation, but we’ve also seen many of you asking for crossplay on Xbox consoles. Meet the Modder: Iceberg

Hello Runners!

Today we're super excited to welcome Iceberg, one of the most popular SnowRunner modders around, and no wonder, considering his impressive body of work!

How did you get into gaming?

I got into gaming at a very young age. My first game device was a Nintendo Gameboy with a copy of Super Mario, which was a gift from my mother for performing well at school.

Could you tell us a little bit about your background?

I am an ex-military mechanical engineer turned design and robotics engineer, originally from the Caribbean, and now residing in the United Kingdom. I have a passion for creating things digitally and physically so I design/build/fly racing drones and undertake various robotic projects as a hobby.

What got you into modding?

I first got into modding during the recent event 2020 where the global pandemic brought saw me working from home with a lot of down time. SnowEunner was released and I found myself really enjoying the game and thought It would be great if I could create my own content for the platform.

Have you modded for any other games?

I had never previously modded for any games other than SnowRunner, but after starting that, I have been tinkering with modding for Farming Simulator and currently planning on converting some of my Snowrunner mods to FS22.

What's your favorite SnowRunner mod?

My favourite SnowRunner mod is my Hummer H1. I absolutely love that truck but I don’t own one in real life so modding gave me the opportunity to really express my creative desires on the digital vehicle with only the sky being the limit on what I could do.

If someone could only download one of your mods, which would you suggest?

That’s a tough one. I would probably suggest my “Old Betty” mod (Ural 4320), reason being it can be used as a scout, and most importantly, it can complete contracts and perform well on any of the released maps whilst being reasonably optimised for a balanced gameplay experience.

What would be your dream change or addition to SnowRunner?

If I could change/modify SnowRunner in any way, I would add track mechanics to the game engine. Then this would allow for the creation of tracked vehicles. As an offroad driving game I think this would greatly improve the game and also bring more players to the platform.

What’s your favorite thing about SnowRunner?

My favorite thing about SnowRunner is the visually appealing way the trucks behave and react to the offroad environment.

What advice would you give to people who would like to get into modding?

My best advice to would-be modders is to try to surround yourself with like-minded individuals. Join Discord servers and social media groups with other content creators, because that way you can ask for help whenever you get stuck on something, because you will.

Working on any exciting mod at the moment?

I find it better to work on multiple mods at the same time so that when I get bored of one project, I can spend some time on another. I am currently working on a tri-platform Peterbilt 389 Semi, an Oshkosh M1070 and a Volvo 10x10 road train.

What’s your all-time favorite real life vehicle? What about SnowRunner vehicle?

As mentioned earlier, my all-time favorite real life vehicle is the Hummer H1. It is a very versatile and customisable rig that can be tailored to almost any environment. My favorite SnowRunner vehicle is the Royal BM-17 because it is very reliable offroad, has great fuel efficiency, and offers great customisation options.

Wildcard Question: If you could go on holiday anywhere right now, where would you go and why?

If I could go anywhere on holiday right now, it would have to be to the Swiss Alps at a ski resort. Skiing is something I really enjoyed as a sport in my past military career and would really love the opportunity to do it again. The feeling of floating down the summit at speed feels almost as if you’re flying and that gives a sense of complete freedom.

Couldn't agree more. Hope you go on that holiday soon! 🙂

Check out and play Iceberg101's mods on mod.io.

If you have questions you'd like to see added to these interviews, feel free to suggest them and we may add them!

Meet the Modder: Boynya

Hello Runners!

Today, we're pleased to chat with Boynya, who's working on a variety of awesome mods, both vehicles and maps!

How did you get into gaming?

When I was a child I played Super Mario a lot with my grandmother. I had a lot of consoles growing up and as a young adult but a little over a year ago I bought a PC so I would be able to play Snowrunner with mods. This is actually what gave me the urge to try out modding, myself!

Could you tell us a little bit about your background?

I’m from the province of Quebec in Canada and I’m 31 years old. I’ve been a forklift driver for 13 years in a factory and recently I’ve gotten contracts to operate a Skytrak in one of the largest gold mines in Canada, the Canadian Malartic Mine.

What got you into modding?

Well, as mentioned above, playing with mods strongly made me want to make my own, even if I had no knowledge at the time. I learned everything with my very good friend Frankthepilot and I must say that without him I would never have succeeded because he is very good at programming and is perfectly bilingual unlike me who is French with some basic English. For the modeling and texturing parts I learned everything using Youtube and mod.io tutorials.

What's your favorite SnowRunner mod?

My favorite mod by me is the Norinco VP11 aka Boyaco. This is the mod I spent the longest on because I made it from scratch. For another person’s mod I would say the Mercedes Benz Zetros from Rng3r and all those mod from it.

If someone could only download one of your mods, which would you suggest?

To be honest the Keny C-500 because it’s the most popular of all my mods.

What would be your dream change or addition to SnowRunner?

More documentation for modders, since a lot of xml attributes aren't documented. Also, the possibility to have a real bitrain trailer.

What’s your favorite thing about SnowRunner?

The physics, environments, and mods of course.

What advice would you give to people who would like to get into modding?

You have to know that modding is not as easy as buying or making a model then putting it in the game, piff paff pouff success… No, you have to know how coding works and how texturing works too. It's a lot of work but in the end it’s more than satisfying. To start I would tell you to look at all the tutorials available on mod.io to give you the knowledge base and don't hesitate to ask questions or help other modders.

Working on any exciting mod at the moment?

I work on a lot of vehicles at the same time. I’m also currently on my second map which I’ve been working on for a whole year (Boynya Creek).

What’s your all-time favorite real life vehicle? What about SnowRunner vehicle?

The Mercedes Benz (Brabus) G63 6x6. For the SnowRunner vehicle it's the Western Star 6900 Twinsteer.

Wildcard Question: Favourite movie or TV-show?

La Casa de Papel because the story and the unfolding and incredible.

Might have to give that a watch, then!

Check out and play Boynya's mods on mod.io

If you have questions you'd like to see added to these interviews, feel free to suggest them and we may add them! 🙂
