Stayin' Alive

One more map for the release!

Stayin' Alive is going out of Early Access very soon, and it will ship with a new map: Redwood Village!
Bridges hang between trees and characters are almost always in plain sight. This map is not very big, but at times it may feel like a maze. Watch out!

Thanks for following us, stay tuned for the upcoming release!

Update v1.5.2

New update online! In this version:

  • Reduced characters size (please read details)
  • Fixed Savior AIs bringing Suiciders to the wrong isolation rooms (regression bug)

We discovered the characters became a bit taller after an old update, so we reverted their size back to the original plans. It's just vaguely noticeable, but anyways this doesn't really affect the gameplay since movement speed and agility remains the same for everyone.
Happy gaming!

Update v1.5.1

New update online! In this version:

  • New Savior power-up: the Portable Isolation!
  • When a joypad is connected, control hints show joypad button names
  • More bug fixing all around

The Portable Isolation is an amazing Savior-only power-up, capable to drag in and isolate any Suicider who falls into its area of effect. Captured Suiciders will be instantly teleported inside a free isolation room! This power-up will disappear and respawn some seconds after the activation.
Have fun with this new toy. See you next update and remember, we will go out of Early Access quite soon! ;)

Update v1.5.0 - Full release incoming!

Bring in some friends and unlock the true potential of Stayin' Alive! In this version:

  • Play up to 8 vs 8!
  • Four new Suicider characters!
  • Hospital map is now fully open!
  • Room host can change map and match time directly from Room menu
  • Players will always return to Room menu after a match
  • Automatic match start is now delayed by some seconds, when a room is full
  • Nicer room information box in the Room menu
  • Improved AIs behavior (searching items, navigating, etc)
  • Savior AIs will drop their passive power-ups after a while, instead of keeping them forever
  • Improved item spawning criteria
  • Fixed a couple of major bugs when using the Blowgun
  • More bug fixing and improvements here and there

Time to go all in! You can now choose to play with up to 8 players per team, included AIs like before.
Hospital map will now open up to all four floors, depending by the number of players in a room (when playing 8 vs 8, maps will always be fully open).

Next, we decided to drop the concept of "Single round", "Multiple rounds" and "Map rotation" for a clearer experience. From now on the host will be able to change map and time in the Room menu, and after every match all players will be sent back to the Room screen.

Full release coming soon!

We are going out of Early Access in a few weeks! We will have just a couple more updates before that day. After that, we will continue supporting the game with fixes and some more extra content. :)

This is all for today's update. Thanks for playing and stay tuned! ;)

Update v1.4.0

Ready for a trip down the science world? In today's update:

  • New map: the Museum! (not available in Demo version)
  • Fixed items becoming not interactable when positioned directly down below the player
  • Fixed Teleporter glitches after using it (not respawning or disappearing)
  • Fixed AI circling around non-stop when searching items
  • Improved Savior AI running behavior
  • Improved item icons visibility
  • Other minor bug fixes

The Museum is a big map that, like the hospital, has a variable layout depending by the number of players. Take a closer look at what's on display: not everything may be exactly how you'd expect...

Have fun down the Museum hallways, see you next update!

April development update

Hello players! We have been a bit silent because the lead programmer was ill for two weeks (me ç_ç), but now we are back on track. :)

We have teased the Museum map for long enough and it's finally time to release it, so expect it for this week. In the meantime, a new compact map for frantic games is already in the works!

For the next updates we want to fix some underlying stuff like AI behavior and item spawn criteria, other than the usual dose of bug fixing. We always read the discussions so remember to post there if you encounter any kind of problem.

Last but not least, we want to increase the number of players from 4 vs 4 to 8 vs 8! Large maps with variable layout like the Hospital and the Museum will benefit from this.

Stay tuned and thanks for playing!

Update v1.3.2

A new version is online. OSX users, please update!

  • Fixed crash after loading a map on OSX version
  • Fixed a regression issue with Radar UI
  • Workaround fix for Suiciders moving by themselves after respawn
  • Reduced general memory overload and game size
  • Minor changes and fixes

Due to the nature of the crash on the previous OSX version, it's possible that the same thing will occur in other parts of the game. If this happens, please open a thread in the Bug Repors section of the discussions.
Thanks for playing, see you next update!

OSX crash issue

Hello players,
our OSX launch didn't quite go as planned, as the game is crashing moments after loading any map (Windows version is working fine, anyways!). The issue seems to be more complex than expected because crash logs are very generic and don't point to anything in particular in the game code.

We are trying our best to solve the problem, in the meanwhile we kindly ask you to have some patience. :)

Thanks for playing and happy gaming!

Update v1.3.1

We just uploaded some quick fixes:

  • Fixed Radar not showing arrows
  • Fixed unwanted Teleporter sounds when hold by a Suicider
  • Fixed in game UI misalignments

An update on the new Museum map: after playtesting it, we realized some areas and gameplay dynamics weren't as good as we wanted. Releasing a subpar map is not very cool, so we are going to work on that some more. Thanks for understanding!

Also, please note we are investigating crash issues on the OSX version, constantly happening few moments after a map is loaded. Don't forget to report issues in the Bug Reports section of the Discussions, that will be of great help!

Keep an eye out for next updates!

Update v1.3.0

Greetings to all OSX users, welcome to this crazy party! In this version:

  • Now available on OSX!
  • Added Player stats menu (not supported in Demo version)
  • Added Control mapping in Settings menu
  • Added Credits screen
  • Added a new hidden achievement. Notice something particular in the main menu?
  • Using Powerups and Instant Suicides now gives experience points
  • Game launcher is now hidden by default (launch the game pressing ALT to show it again)
  • Fixed a missing collider on a stained glass in StayingWell map
  • Fixed TTS repeatedly reading chat messages wrote during match countdowns
  • Fixed minor bugs, scene and character lighting issues

This took longer than expected!
It's our first build for OSX so we are going to test the game deeper in the next days. In the meantime, if you are an Apple user you are kindly invited to report every issue you encounter in the discussions. :)
To open Player stats menu, just click on the level label on top left! Important: many of the statistics will start counting from the moment you update the game, because we didn't keep track of all of them prior to this version.

Stay tuned for the new map release! ;)
