We have released another update for "The Backrooms; Survival"!
Changes: -Added text chat talking, use the "`" key (can be rebound to anything) to open a text field you can use to talk via text. Messages are displayed above the player name for a short time, and to keep in line with proximity VC chat, only nearby players will be able to see the message -Added "big chests" and "big key". The big chest holds much better loot, mostly weapons, and ammo. Can only be opened with a big key. Rarer than small chests. -An added achievement for opening a big chest -fixed a bug where melee weapons will break instantly on hits sometimes -defeated entities have a small chance to drop ammo or big key -fixed a bug where being revived in multiplayer after sanity death puts you in an endless death loop -fixed a bug where you can still pick up a second backpack even if you had one (didn't have any additional effect, was just a bug) -changed the trapdoor designer slightly to make it bolder and stand out more -fixed campfire floating in the forest bug -fixed a bug where the ladder is usually always right not to the trapdoor, mostly in the forest level (can still happen, but not as frequent) -fixed various typos -a killed player with a backpack will drop the backpack too (so you can loot this from killed players) -changed both leaderboards to show up to top 25 scores -in line with online room names, steam leaderboard names that contain swear words will be filtered by "***" (score still displayed, but the swear word is censored) -fixed a bug where blood was not sometimes showing -various smaller/minor bug fixes such as some minor graphical, UI glitches etc
The next update will be over this weekend and will add an additional level theme as well as entity/entities.

A quick extra patch to fix a forest softlock where the ladder was unreachable!

New update is out now. This update fixes several major bugs and brings much new quality of life improvements and changes.

We have released another content update: -New "Forest" level - this level is probably the most different level in style compared to the others as it is more "open" as opposed to the others. -Two new entities added -Fixed a bug where entities you couldn't see can still damage you -Fixed a bug where a revived player cannot be damaged by other players with weapons -Fixed a bug where the chainsaw SFX still plays when the chainsaw entity is killed in multiplayer -Fixed a bug where if you join an online game where an entity has already been killed, you can still hear their scream on getting close -Made pool/sewer water clearer as it was nearly impossible to see the trapdoors in negative levels Fixed a bug where the ladder is high up (but was still accessible) in the level theme with the high moss walls -Fixed a visual bug where sometimes you will still see other players' animation holding a weapon even if they put it away -Fixed a bug preventing you from dropping bullets sometimes -Fixed a bug that caused CCTV cameras and falling lights to not spawn sometimes -Updated the Hotbar sprite -You can now drop glowsticks using the hotkey bar, without having to access inventory each time -Stopped the "what was that... etc" message that appears when killing an entity from appearing in multiplayer. This is because time doesn't stop in multiplayer so it can get in the way -Fixed a bug where any item in your hand would be stretched out horizontally across the screen after equipping one after being revived -Fixed some font/typo errors (including the "Leaderboads" -> "Leaderboards" in the main menu) -Fixed some syncing errors that can bug out entities via multiplayer. Fixes a crash when accessing steam leaderboards/completing a run

Hello,
We have released another update adding in a big new feature: negative levels! This means you now have the choice of either going up the ladders and going to higher levels or down trapdoors and lower levels.
Negative levels are significantly harder than normal levels. They have a very distorted theme and are very dangerous. Entities spawn much faster and there is a higher amount of maximum entities per floor. Any entity can spawn without theme restrictions.
In line with the "distorted" nature of the levels, some themes and your surroundings will have a different appearance. Every single entity also has different behaviors and their appearance is randomly distorted. For example, their limbs may be randomly different sizes, and the pitch of their screams are also randomly shifted.
In other words, in the negative levels, every entity you come across can look and sound slightly different each time as their bodies are malformed and disfigured.
There is also a new leaderboard for the "lowest" level reached in the negative levels. There is also an achievement for entering the negative levels.
The negative levels are NOT recommended for new players!
As usual, there will be another update in a week adding a new level and entity and we will focus on some bug fixes too. We are aware that some people seem to still be experiencing "invisible entities" still so that will be fixed.

We have just released another update: -Added a "hotkey" bar where you can quickly use up to five items from your inventory -Fixed bug where Entity moves fast after killing a player in multiplayer -Fixed some syncing errors in multiplayer -Fixed other players taking damage when one is damaged by a campfire -Fixed a bug where binding examine and use to the same key allows you to duplicate a picked up item -Fixed a bug where if you start a new multiplayer gamer after dying on any level above 0 big syncing errors occur on a new game -Fixed unlocked hests not syncing for everyone -Added some anti-cheat measures that make it harder for people to cheat on multiplayer. (No anti-cheat method is 100% foolproof, but it does make it significantly harder for players to cheat) -Fixed a bug where going up a ladder causes some entities to remain stuck for other players that might see them -Fixed a bug where the player would sometimes take damage too if another player is attacked by an entity
There will be another update again sometime next week fixing more bugs and adding a new level, entity, items, etc.
