Bugs fixed and improvements


  • Fixed shotgun pumping every time a player would snap rotate.

  • Easier to load mag into a few guns.

  • Fixed slug having metal sound when dropped on the ground.

  • Fixed MRS Sight(the one with a plus sign with a dot in the middle), if you saw it through some angles, the red plus sign would partially disappear.

  • Fixed death portal appearing in the wrong position(Please let me know if it happens again).

  • Made bullet wounds decal longer, because sometimes there would be no bullet wound if you shot opponents.

  • Made pistol reddot bigger, so it’s MUCH better to use.

  • Added a notification when a player completed Act 1. You will likely get that message if you played the game before, however only for the first time, then you can ignore it.






Things I will be working/fixing now


  • Will make weapons easier to load mags, only a little bit easier though.

  • Spiked shield cannot be dropped with left hand.

  • Bayonet sometimes get stuck in opponent.

  • Make Valve rotate for other players.

  • Try to find a way for opponent body parts not to be stuck in things such as walls for the non hosts of the server.

  • Fix equipped scopes only appearing on the weapon if the host of the server puts it on.

  • Optimize saving data.

Optimization


  • Finally managed to optimize the network ragdoll issue. The drawback is that the opponent downed position is not gonna be the same for all the players, for one player the opponent might be laying on their back, while for another it may be laying on their stomach, however their general position will be the same, and also they will get up at the same time.




Bugs fixed


  • Fixed downed opponents having twisted body parts, the issue was that I had a script that was making them super heavy, sometimes they would get over 10 tons… Almost as heavy as your mom…



Things I will be working on now


  • Will make weapons easier to load mags, only a little bit easier though.

  • Fixing the bug of the pump shotgun cocking if player snap turns.

  • Bayonet from WW2 rifle getting stuck into opponents.

  • Add a message if a player completes the run successfully.

  • Sometimes opponents can get one limb stuck in a wall, going to add something they make the limbs pop into the correct place..

  • Fixing marks sometimes not showing in opponents.

  • Reddots aren’t working properly.

  • Death portal appearing slightly off position.

Update News(Warning for new Players)

Before new players were having issues of inheriting the cloud data from my gameplays from the Editor, some players started already with a character while some players started the game in another language. I just implemented a code that will fix that, however I wasn’t able to properly test this, so if you are a new player and have issues, immediately let me know please, my email is gliealonso@initiativevr.com.

Going back to work at the networking of knocked out body positioning of opponents.

To test this I had to completely wipe my progress within the game… F in the chat… 😔

Hi everyone.


Just wanted to let you know what I was working on today.

So whenever an opponent gets knocked out, each body part position, rotation, velocity and angular velocity gets sent to the non hosts of the server, that’s why if an opponent gets knocked out in a position, all the players in the room will see the same thing. However, that is very network taxing. That information of each body part is being sent every 0.1 seconds, causing a 1000 lines of information being sent from the host to the other players in less than 2 seconds. It's 1000 lines just like the attached image.

That’s why when the non host is fighting multiple opponents at the same time, the non host will start noticing lag, players, items and opponents teleporting a little. So I spent around 8 hours trying to find another solution for this, and I will say that I’m getting close. Just wanted to let you know what I spent my time doing today, not happy that I didn’t finish, but tomorrow I will probably optimise this issue.




My lower back hurts from sitting down for so long, I’m going to do some squats, you should probably do too.

More bugs fixed, and need help from first time players.

Fixed some japanese texts being invisible.

Fixed reddot of the glock being stuck inside the pistol.

Fixed some guns making movement noises.

Fixed japanese translation error in tutorial room.

Bug causing players not go move together to the next level is fixed.



Fixed bug of players changing levels while playing coop and one being stuck and the other going back to Login scene, it was nothing related to network, and it was a line missing on my script. Apologies for the issue...



That does not mean I will forgive you if you skip your workout.

Couldn’t add a nice cloud system in the Login Scene because the asset I had wasn’t compatible with VR, thank you either way, DieDae.


Audio changes and bug fixes


  • Added cooldown to player vocal grunts.

  • Fixed when playing multiplayer, one player would hear the other player vocal grunt as it was coming from inside your head.

  • Didn’t leave an option to disable Mic and Music from the Login scene, fixed that.



Gameplay changes and fixes



  • Made reddot smaller to look more realistic, thanks Whosile for noticing.

  • Disabled player to player collision, because it was causing a lot of accidental bumps into pointy objects.

  • Added a better bullet impact against opponents, now player can see better the body parts of enemies jump around from the impact.

  • Did some changes to the ragdoll system, however I’m not happy with it, and will still do some changes.

  • Fixed only server hosts to set opponents into attention mode from shooting them far away, before if the non host would do that, the opponent would simply ignore the damage and not charge into the player. Haven’t been able to test this properly though.




Visual bug fix



  • Fixed not being able to see the whole tower and big parts of the clouds from the Login Scene.





2 big bugs/issues happening.



  • Players sometimes disconnecting, I believe I may have found the function that’s causing too much information being sent through the network.

  • When going to the end portal with another player, it causes the next Maze to have a “loading” text in front of the player, causing players to be stuck when trying to move to the end portal afterwards, then forcing players to quit.

The issue of the Maze having an exit that cannot be reached keeps coming back, so now I made some somewhat big changes to the code to fix that, so please let me know right away if there is another bug that came with these changes, even while I’m at the gym I will still be checking my phone, You can reach me also through my email is gliealonso@initiativevr.com.

Sometimes the player can jump on top of the opponents and even go through the roof, I made some changes to the character controller that might fix that, please let me know if that happens again.

Going to start working on adding a prettier sky at the login scene, thanks again to DieDae for purchasing a very pretty asset to change the sky. And also the ragdolls of the opponents, it feels like I’m fighting a bunch of drunk orcs with the way they wobble around.
