- Added wind chimes in various locations to enhance atmosphere
- Fixed a null pointer error while loading campfire conversation
- While travelling to another location, camera zoom level is saved and restored
- Swapping between the two Tool slots can be done by holding Tool key ("4" key by default). Added this info in the Detector tutorial.
Enhanced Edition!!
Dear Ghoul Hunters,
I'm proud to announce that after three years of updates, the recent graphics upgrades, and the hand-drawn illustrations (17 total, thank you swanseensean!) added in today's update, the game has finally reached the status of "Enhanced Edition"! This is the vision I had for the game since I began working on it, and it has finally come true!
Let's look through what was added to the base game:
Graphics upgrade
Farming and cooking
New weapons
Skill System
Emergent ambush and airdrop events
Recurring holiday events (Halloween, Labor Day)
Native gamepad support
I'd like to thank you all for your continued support and all your patience with me fixing bugs :)
Also, some folks have requested a feature to have an in-game radio that plays the game's soundtrack. I thought it was a great idea, so I have been working on a small DLC with this feature. But I didn't want to stop there - what if you get to play your own favorite music? Imagine roaming the Zone with STALKER's music playing in the background - what a wonderful nostalgia!
Feel free to check out the DLC page. It's completed, and I just need to do some testing before release. I have set the price of the DLC to 3 USD in the US region to help cover some licensing cost, but I don't mind giving away free keys - just reach out to me on Discord!
- Added a second Tool slot to equip detectors, the garrot, brass catcher, etc., and of course the upcoming radio player!
- The game will save your camera zoom level before entering an interior/dungeon, and restore it after you exit.
- Added dynamic ambient occlusion so that it gets more prominent at night.
- Fixed a bug where if you right click to drop a stack of items while it's in the "Sell" grid during trading, you can still sell it and receive money even though it's now sitting on the ground.
- The game will no longer count picking up domestic plants (plants you planted) towards the Botanist achievement.
Update 1.84-6 Patch Notes
- Fixed a bug with "Devoted Chemist" gets progressed even if you cook food
- I decided to remove the chromatic abberation effect for when you gain Tunguska Syndrome since it causes too much discomfort
- Corrected some Russian translations (Thank you Nuit!)
- Fixed a bug where holding G to aim grenade cannot be cancelled with left click.
Update 1.84-5 Patch Notes
Thank you everyone for your patience! After a few days of beta testing, I didn't receive any additional error reports, so I'm releasing the update with engine upgrade again. Please let me know if you run into any issues!
Reverting back to 1.84-3
I'm reverting the game back to 1.84-3 since 1.84-4 causes a lot of player's save game to unable to load, although it seems to work on my side. I will investigate and republish 1.84-4.
If you are interested in helping me with the troubleshooting please let me know, since the save games I receive from other players seem to work just fine for me. I suspect that there's a .NET issue.
Thank you for your patience!
Update 1.84-4 Patch Notes
- Upgraded Unity engine to 2019.4. This version has deprecated the old binary format serialization scheme. If you have issue loading very old save games, please reach out to me for help.
- If you are using ARPG/ARPG2 control scheme with click-to-run enabled, you can now perform click-to-run while holding melee weapon. If you need to do a left attack with the LMB, you can click onto the enemy's body, or you can hold SHIFT to do that just like how it works in Diablo 2.
Autumn Aurora
In this graphical update we now have blowing leaves effects along with sounds! I added dozens and dozens of leaf particle generators with two types of animation and ten sound effects:
1. Wind blowing a pocket of leaves from the ground 2. Leaves falling from trees
All in appropriate locations that make sense. Enjoy the Autumn immersion!
Also:
- Added icons at the player stats page for radiation, tunguska syndrome, and carry weight corresponding to the HUD display
- Marked the location of mad mechanics in the gas station to help new player
- Improved the description of two Key items to make more sense about what these keys are for.
Update 1.84-2 Patch Notes
- NPCs resting at the campfire will now randomly switch duties with guards and patrols. This will help when you are try to assassinate a friendly target. You will get a notification about it when you are not too far from them.
- Improved the animations for the mutant Rush Attack
- Added a notification after killing Valentin in Slaughterhouse to remind player to pick up his key
- Fixed a scripting issue with Artyom so that he won't accept serum until it's time to.
Update 1.84-1 Patch Notes
- Added a new style of melee attack for all the ghouls: the Rush Attack. Makes them a little more dangerous now. Watch out.
- Added two new option settings: camera draw distance, and frame rate cap
- Fixed a bug with scrap cloth spawning too many in loot crates
- Fixed a bug with player falling through terrain when cancelling travel at the exit towards the old mill
Graphics Upgrade, Part 2! And 3-Year Anniversary!
Today three years ago, on June 4 2021, Tunguska: The Visitation was first released on Steam. We have gone a long way! Three years of updates, six DLCs, gamepad controls, Steam Deck support, and NOW:
Woohoo! I'm excited to announce the second part of graphics upgrade - this time, terrains are finally looking better!
I have always struggled with the thought "why does the game look so bad during rain and overcast?" I got a lot of suggestions from fans and other game devs to improve the looks of terrains, in order to make the map look less boring during those non-sunny weather. But I was hesitant because, being not very good with visual art, I had no idea how to do it.
Eventually I figure out a way - I added four new terrain textures, and after a week of clicking away with my mouse, we now have jagged roads, rocky cliffs, and puddles for you to splash on. Check it out:
I also added a little hut by the Barn in Zernaskaya, because that area is just too empty. The hut has... some interesting surprise in it :) (If you have completed Haruko's assassination quests you'll know what it's about)
And finally, I fixed some issues with the water and got a nice new normal map for them. Looks a lot better now!
Other fixes included in 1.84:
- Fixed a problem with terrain normal map not showing up
- Fixed a bug with ghouls not investigating player's footsteps
- After completing Sidor's quest to take back the barn, as soon as you turn in the quest, the Bootleggers will occupy the barn... For now.
- Slightly spread out the enemies around the trailer house in Lake Cheko
- Made sniper lens effect a little brighter
- Shooting dead crows will no longer leave a bullet hole in the air
