We've just uploaded a small hotfix for v0.54. A few things were not as they should have been..
Changes:
Added Medkits to Overgrowth level, and tweaked speedrun time.
Fixed network clients not using new Shadow and Lighting settings.
And that's that! Have fun!
Update v0.54: Overgrowth
Hey hey!
With this weeks update, comes the final level, 'Overgrowth'!
It's a primarily outdoor, industrial jungle environment. Larger in size than other small/medium maps, but less mess overall.
Anyway, to the changelog!
Maps:
Added "Overgrowth" level! [The Jungle]
Added reverb sound processing to Athena's Wrath, Paintenance Tunnels, Waste Disposal and Revolutionary Robotics. [Improves creepy atmosphere]
Blocked off the area under the Revolutionary Robotics boardroom table, making it impossible for careless janitors to lose their dignity under there.
Game:
Fixed Security Cameras causing problems for players if they die while viewing through one of them.
Fixed level completion progress tracker only recording speedruns and not normal cleanups. Oops!
Increased the maximum FoV from 120 to a whopping 160. Prepare for some serious beetle eyed action!
Goo Jar mess now glows in the dark.
UI:
You can now use the Enter key on punchout report boxes to make a new line. How nice of it.
Added "Shadow Draw Distance" setting to options menu to adjust the distance at which object shadows are drawn.
Added "Draw Object Shadows For" setting to options menu to decide which physics objects will cast shadows.
Added "Complex Object Lighting" setting to options menu to turn on detailed lighting for physics objects, replacing the cheap On/Off method.
System:
Improved the lighting and shadows of physics objects, making many objects look much better than before. Only if you adjust the new shadow and lighting settings above.
Workshop:
Added Kismet action for manipulating debris actors.
Added Kismet action for teleporting debris actors.
Added Kismet event for when the world data is loaded or saved.
Added Kismet action to get the Pawn from an input Controller, for easy casting.
Made it possible to pose dead bodies by using custom animations.
And with that, we're nearly content complete! More fixes and other improvements here and there to make, but we're getting there :) I will mostly be moving onto other things now (as the main content guy), but will cobble together what assets are required should the need arise.
Anyway! Check out the map, and let us know what you think. I'm a bit wary that it might be kinda slow on older hardware, what with all the foliage and stuff, but we shall see :\
Have fun everyone!
V0.53 update live!
Greetings!
Once more, the update is all about fixes and polishing stuff up as we head towards the end. We're *just* about content complete now. The new Jungle map and some surprises are all that's left.
We're also trying to figure out how to get multiplayer stuff more refined; the 'connection canceled' stuff.. With luck, we can find a way of streamlining it and minimize the issues there.
Lastly, a Mac build and a merger of some kind for the spin-off versions should be investigated soon.
Anyway! To the changelog!
Maps:
Increased the strength of bullet holes in Unrefinery and Splatter Station.
Increased the width of the doors in the Janitor Office.
Game:
Added some rare character related..."thing" to the game.
Fixed achievements for Hosts not working after punching out to the office.
Achievement progress pop-ups now appear from time to time to show you how close you are to an achievement. Steam client overlay should now also update its progress bars.
Changed the way Employee Of The Year is achieved. Now goes go up every time you get Employee Of The Month regardless, and even if you joined another player's game.
Made Explosive Barrels capable of causing a chain reaction of explosions. Also made them weaker.
Made the Big Banger sound increasingly feeble the more damaged it gets.
Made the Janitor Trunk capable of only taking items that are inside or on top of it. [Should stop trunk items spawning in walls]
Added melted scrap objects for the Big Banger.
Made the Big Banger Supernova more bouncy.
Made it so the Report Forms is a main prompt option on the Punchout Machine's screen.
Fixed Big Banger not sounding distorted when put in the incinerator.
Fixed Janitor Trunk playing incorrect hand anims when using the lid.
Fixed Clean Freak achievement being awarded when you punchout to the office for the first time.
Fixed Clients not receiving player skin info of other Janitors when punching out to the office.
Fixed hold position of spare Mop objects. [Mop objects in Workshop levels will be corrupted]
Improved the hold distance of paper notes and PDAs so they can easily be dropped into bins.
Improved the obstruction detection system for the JHARM.
Improved the collision for Employee of the Month pictures and notepads found in Revolutionary Robotics. They should stop flickering and disappearing now.
UI:
Added a "Filter Profanity" setting to the options menu, allowing you to filter the majority of bad language from the game.
Added Completion Time, Completion Percentage and Team Size displays to the punchout report forms viewing screen in the office. [Only works for new jobs]
Fixed Airlock console screen "Depressurize" button clicking wrong thing. Also synced screen anim speed with Airlock doors.
Fixed Death Report forms accepting quotation marks that corrupt the report.
The next update should feature the final map, and more fixes/tweaks. And if we're ultra-lucky, some kind of networking enhancements. Hold mops!
Cheers for now everyone! Enjoy!
Update v0.52 live!
Hey hey!
Another batch of fixes and such this week. Much effort has been going into the achievements and getting them to behave better (a lot of the problems appear to stem from how Unreal handles level transitions). At any rate, read on for the full list of changes!
Maps:
Increased the strength and improved the appearance of bullet holes in Caduceus, Paintenance, Waste Disposal and Athena's Wrath.
Greatly improved the disposal-hatch in the Janitor Office.
Greatly improved Waste Disposal water stairs.
Game:
Added new character textures.
Added some tweaked head meshes for Janitors.
Added several more news ticker articles.
Added two new Vending Machine spam notes.
Fixed physics issue causing some bodies to start out oddly twisted in network; no more Lovecraftian Horrors.
Fixed an error causing Speedrun games to not award level specific Completion achievements.
Fixed Clean Freak achievement being falsely awarded upon entering the Office after completing a level.
Fixed Server hosts not receiving level completion achievements.
Fixed client Janitors having wrong player skin when punching out to the office.
Fixed locked door consoles in levels playing the "Locked" sound twice on clients.
Changed the "Lock Punchout Machine" setting so that it's now also possible to allow any player to initiate a punch-out.
UI:
Fixed localization string issue on Punchout report forms screen.
And that's that for now! Still hoping to get multiplayer stuff improved, but it is not an easy affair.
In other news, we're just about content complete now. The final map is taking shape and will hopefully be in the next update along with more fixes.
Anyway, have fun and enjoy, everyone!
Viscera Cleanup Detail - Soundtrack Released!
We're pleased to announce that the full soundtrack for Viscera Cleanup Detail has been released as a Free DLC included with the game.
You should all receive it and have it included in your downloads automatically.
The soundtrack includes all the songs from the Big Banger, as well as all the Santa's Rampage songs. For a grand total of 16 banging tunes.
All files are in 320kbps stereo MP3 format, so they'll sound much better than they do in-game!
You can find more info on the Soundtrack's Store Page.
Enjoy, everyone!
Update v0.51 live!
Hey hey!
Glad to see everyone is enjoying the Robotics map!
This week, we present a simple update of fixes, mostly. However, we do at last have the female janitor mesh implemented! As has been the case since we started adding character variety, you'll be assigned randomly. More skins to come in subsequent updates.
Also, still getting through achievement and MP fixes as we head to the finish line. Some very gnarly things hidden in there, being pesky. Anyway! On to the changelog!
Adjusted Speedrun par-time for Revolutionary Robotics
Fixed some bullet hole, casing, and sentry gun placement issues in Revolutionary Robotics.
Changed the Dates of notes in Revolutionary Robotics from February to March.
Added a new note to Revolutionary Robotics.
Added female janitor mesh and skins.
Fixed objects brought FROM the office being taken BACK to the office after saving
Improved "Camera Screens". Setting now also has a preferable "Optimized" option.
Fixed Sentry Guns and their ammo boxes not playing the right bullet impact sounds and effects.
Fixed the state of Buckets and Bins in your Janitor's trunk not being saved for travel to and from the office.
Fixed anomalous behaviour between Shovels and Buckets.
Increased the sound radius for the Arc Welder.
Fixed the Artifact pulling you toward filled-in Sand Traps.
Improved Game Menu info display behaviour; stopped it reporting false info.
In other news, I'm working on getting a soundtrack together, and will probably create one final, relatively quick map. Thinking outdoorsy for this one :)
Anyway! Have fun everyone!

And with that, we're that much closer to the finish line. More fixes and polish to go, and some more janitor customization, which should not be far off now.
Anyway! We're proud of this little bugger, and we hope ya'll enjoy it! Please let us know what you think :)

Have a great weekend everyone (it's a long weekend down here in SA, so work may resume a day later ;) )!
Update v0.48 live!
Hey everyone!
This week's update is once again more on the fixes/polish side of things as we near the coveted "v1.0" for VCD. Especially of interest might be the improving physics syncing for MP, specifically for the bins.

Changes:
Maps:
Made improvements to "Zero-G Therapy".
Stopped "Gravity Drive" airlock-door blood from moving.
Added some full worker bodies to most levels.
Improved the posing of many dead bodies in most levels.

Improved networking for debris; now more stable on clients and objects in bins behave more naturally.
Gave the Arc Welder a unique bullet hole for when it overheats and causes a new one.
Added a new spam note for the Supply Machine.
Added 'News Ticker' to some levels to reveal more info about the universe.

Thanks ya'll, and have a good weekend! :)
Update v0.47 is up!
Hey hey!
We don't have too much for you this week, just a couple fixes for now. The good stuff is still happening in the background :) We're nearly content complete and that stuff will start being released fairly soon. That means the new map, further player customization and some classified top-secret stuff ;) Anyway, read on for the fixes!
Changelog:
Fixed "One Mop to Rule Them All" achievement being awarded incorrectly.
Fixed objects carried over by the Janitor trunk from being wrongly positioned.
Changed briefing screen.
Added a "Best Performance" display to the game menu for completed levels(only if completed after the update).
Improved various User Interface elements.
Briefing screen changed; workshop levels with briefings will need their briefing text updated to fit.
As a final note, we're thinking about how to handle the last few updates; slower but less buggy, or weekly but with less stability. An option might be to set up a Beta type arrangement you can opt into for smaller, buggier updates. We shall see!
