DAVID RONNEFALK CLAIMS VRC WORLDS TITLE AT LAS VEGAS
2016 IFMAR World Champion David Ronnefalk from Sweden has claimed his first VRC World Championship title by winning the 15 minute long A-Main open final 1:8 electric buggies at the RC Tracks of Las Vegas off-road track, the very same track Ronnefalk won his IFMAR Worlds title 3 months before. 2014 VRC World Champion Marcin Maliński from Poland took second 2nd some 9 seconds back on Ronnefalk, and pole-sitter Warren Jones from the US snatched away 3rd from Swede Robert Hillman in the very last corner.
For David Ronnefalk it was a 'take off and never look back' final without too many trouble. Warren Jones had the speed but got himself in trouble just too often, clearly lacking the consistency that David demonstrated with his commanding lead. Just 3 laps before the end Jones was back in 5th but managed to clinch 3rd place right on the finish line.

NATIONS CUP
354 Racers competed in the 2016 VRC Worlds for electric buggies. Sweden was the strongest performing nation, with France 2nd and the United Kingdom 3rd.
David Ronnefalk, 2016 EFRA European and IFMAR World Champion 1:8 nitro buggies, has started his quest to add a virtual Worlds title to the prestigious Worlds title he won in Las Vegas back in October '16. Ronnefalk, an early VRC Pro adapt, will compete in both the 1:8 electric buggies and in 1:8 nitro buggies VRC Worlds.
David topped the table on day 2 of the Timed practice in both Open and Spec class electric buggies but some fierce competition is awaiting him when it gets serious in Qualifying.
This video shows David’s Wednesday 'fastest time of the day' run.
NEW RALLY CROSS, NEW EXE RELEASED AND OTHER UPDATES
RALLY CROSS
The new Rally X (cross) class was recently released. The default body has 8 different paintjobs to chose from. 2 Wheel styles are available and to start with just 1 tire. Maybe more tires will be added in the future. The modified version comes with a selection of Tekin power, 1900KV, 2150KV and 2650KV, should be enough to get you excited. The Spec chassis comes with a 1450KV motor but has a longer gearing to get decent top speed with the Spec chassis. Only the gearing and the steering angle are adjustable in the free2play Rally X Spec chassis.
2 Tracks are available, Rally X1, a special Rally X track situated in a container terminal, and MACH X, a Rally X conversion of the existing MACH track. More Rally X tracks will follow in the future. For the 2016 VRC Worlds the Rally X1 track and the modified Rally X chassis will be made available for free for the duration of the 2016 VRC Worlds for this class.
Racing a rally car is different from on-road and off-road racing. It requires special drifting skills and it will take time to master and perfect these skills. With time and perhaps with some refining of the setup you should be able to have an exciting new r/c racing experience!
EXE
We have released a new exe which has the new 'cars in background of pit table' feature disabled. Too many issues were reported and we have decided, as we are already well underway in the 2016 VRC Worlds, to disable this feature for now until we have had a chance to iron out the reported problems. In the test environment we were testing with very limited available replay files, on Live however we experienced some unexpected issues. We apologize for this inconvenience. The new exe also includes various fixes and performance optimizations.
RALLY X1 TRACK
Some issues were reported in the past week since we released this track. We have prepared an update to fix these issues. This update will be released on Wednesday morning after the Qualifying round has finished and before the Semi finals start.
NEW RALLY X BODIES
We have released 7 new Rally X bodies. Each of the 8 body designs now has its own body, each design comes in 8 different color combinations, increasing the number of options from 8 to 64! The default body design is now the red-black body, with 8 different color schemes. Next time you load your Rally X car don't be surprised to see a different paint scheme on your Rally X body! Feel free to check out the other 7 schemes and color combinations, I am sure you will find something of your liking...
All Rally X bodies will be free for the duration of the VRC Worlds. After the Worlds all bodies will be priced and will need to be purchased. Of course All-inclusive members will have access to all bodies, in fact all components and tracks!
VRC presents: the 2016 IFMAR Worlds track in Las Vegas. It has taken the VRC team little over 2 months to get this exciting track ready for the 2016 VRC Worlds. With 2016 IFMAR World Champion David Ronnefalk on the drivers list this is your chance to re-live the 2016 IFMAR Worlds and try to beat David on his own turf.
3D track designer and artist Tony West was pushed to the limit by the beta test team to make the track as close to the 2016 IFMAR Worlds track as possible, including the many holes and bumps. Having to master such a torn down track will add a new challenge to VRC racers!
The 2016 VRC Worlds kick off with 1:10 Short Course trucks on Dec. 6th, then 1:8 electric buggies on the 13th, and the 1:8 nitro buggies with David Ronnefalk on the 20st of December.
See you at the virtual track!

STEAM POWERED RACE SERIES Hillman wins
Report (24-02-2016) by J-P.Huhtala, a race reporter from the VRC community.

STEAM POWERED RACE SERIES, RC EXITEMENT 1
The Steam Powered series race event for Short Course 4wd was held here at the RC Exitement 1 track.
This track is very technical to offroaders, so it is not a high speed race that will resolve the winner. Of course, speed must be there at the top, but mainly you have to be aware to use the shortest line in here.
QUALIFYING
As the qualifying was over, Swedish offroad talent Robert Hillman was at the top and took TQ with huge one lap distance to Austrian Thomas Rössler. Roberts fastest lap was 15.849 with an average 16.390. Instead Rössler`s fastest was 16.219 and his average was 17.009. Erik Bottosso from Italy got third spot for theb Final and his pace was one second slower in average than our TQ.
After these results we could expect that it was going to be very easy win for Swedish driver, but he needed to run without mistakes.
RACE
As the grid was organized, we could see that Rossetti, Bottosso and Smyk were not at the grid. So this race was held between 7 finalists. Ok, that was unfortunate, but could the others challenge the Swedish at TQ place?
As the race started, Hillman got the lead, Rössler was second and what was enormous, Lithuanian Arturas Svoba was at third spot. Rössler and Svoba seemed very aggressive from the start-tone. Dont know, had these drivers hided they pace at qualy? The expectations after few laps of final were really high! After 2 min driving, these three at top were allready catching Berardino at last position and they lapped him. Hillman was at the lead, Rössler second and Svoba at third place. These three were all inside one second of each other. At 6th lap Hillman struggled little with corner 'five' and Rössler passed him, which changed the pre-race expectations of Hillman becoming the definate winner.
It wasnt going to be easy for Hillman, and of course the audience loved this. But allready in next lap, Rössler cutted the 7th corner and Hillman went back to the lead. At this point Svoba at third spot was almost two second from the leader and second behind Rössler.
Next ten laps showed that race had settled, and those differences between three at the top were very stable. Hillman almost got a disaster at 16th lap when he got the wrong line to triple jump after the third corner. His car flyed to the wall but luckyly he survived this one. At lap 22 he collided with inside pipe at turn 8, and after this incident Rössler at second spot, tightened his gap from 2sceonds to 0.8 seconds. Svoba at third place hadnt surrendered yet, he was pushing really hard at Rössler’s tale, now just 2seconds behind. In lap 25, Svobas pressure made result, Rössler flipped his car a little at turn two, and Svoba got very near behind him. In next lap when they crossed line, Svoba had done his move and was at second place, but only 0.059 ahead Rössler.
Screenshot: This Rössler`s flip in lap 25 made Svoba`s passing possible.
With only a few seconds left in the race, these two were in real battle, Hillman had runned away almost 4seconds as Rössler and Svoba were fighting against each other. Finaly Hillman came in to check the flag as first, well over three seconds before the second one. Rössler and Svoba`s battle ended to Svoba`s victory and Rössler got the third place.
A very exiting final between these three, especially given those pre-race expections of the winner being Hillman. Rössler and Svoba also made this final very exiting. Fourth place went to Hong Kong`s Billy Yeung, Billy`s gap to the winner was over one lap. Czech Milan Peka runned to fifth place. Milan and Billy also had a great battle. Milan was leading this duo all the way to lap 26, where he made three seconds mistake and Billy was pleased with passing him. At finishline, these gladiators had only one second gap. Sixth place went to Giovanni Berardino, a good run from Giovanni, but these opponents were too tough for him. He would have needed lot more pace to challenge those guys at front.
Screenshot: Svoba`s pace at qualy didnt showed his actual speed. Finaly this Lithuanian end up to second place.
In SPORT level the race winner was Tony Dugan from USA, Tony's pace was just too much for the others. He came to finisline almost 6seconds before Japan`s Atsushi Takeshita. Third podium place, in this level was achieved by Erwin Fiselberger from Austria. His distance to the winner was 8 seconds.
This level of racing was not free of mistakes either. Winner Dugan made two big mistakes and these took 11 seconds from his result. Of course, Takeshita and Fiselberger would have needed more pace to battle against Dugan, who had two 10th`s better pace than Takeshita and three 10th`s better than Fiselberger.
In CLUB level winner was Sean Krause from Germany. He didnt leave any doubts for his opponent`s and he was in charge of this level. With his result, he would even have won at the SPORT level and would got fourth place at PRO level. Magnificent pace he had!!
Second podium went to John Dasch from USA, his gap to the winner was almost 10seconds.
Of the third podium place we had fair fight. Antti Silvennoinen and Keith Stoppenbach from USA resolved this. They were both driving a good final against each other, but Antti made a 6 seconds mistake at lap 20. By this mistakle Keith got third place and was defending final podium place very strongly. But Antti didnt want to surrender just yet, and was pushing reallly hard.
Finaly Keith made 2second mistake at last lap but Antti was to far behind and didnt pass him. These drivers gap was only 0.2 seconds at the finish-flag.
Good battles, great driving and exiting event. Really nice driving guys!
