Warbanners Version 1.1.1. "Cancel the action” Button

For this latest release, we've added a button to the control panel that allows you to undo the last action of the unit (move or rotate).

We've also tweaked the modding system: now the game first tries to find the units_modding.csv file (this is a file with your edited unit characteristics) in the folder with the Warbanners_1.exe executable. If the units_modding.csv file does not find the game, it loads the characteristics from the units_harakt.csv file. Thus, by adding, modifying or deleting the units_modding.csv file, you can change the characteristics of the units or return them to their original values.

...and "You shall not pass" has become easier an easy level.

Version 1.1.0. Cheat codes.

Added cheat codes:
Simultaneous hold "Ctrl", "T" and "Y" - kill the nearest enemy to the cursor.
Simultaneous hold "Ctrl", "U" and "I" - get 100 gold (does not work in combat).
Simultaneous hold "Ctrl", "O" and "P" - the player's unit closest to the cursor will gain 100 experience (only in the army camp).

Other changes:
- "Search for Eternity" has become easier (especially at an easy level).
- Another correction of mouse hovering on buttons in briefings.

Version 1.0.9 – Modding Support!

With this latest update, we've added the ability to edit the characteristics of units!

Modding instructions:
When a new unit is created (in combat or in the army camp), the game loads its characteristics (including possible upgrades) from the units_harakt.csv file, which is in the folder with the Warbanners_1.exe executable. Thus, by changing the data in the units_harakt.csv file, you can completely change all the units. In the game folder there is a file units_harakt_backup.csv - this is a backup containing the original characteristics of the units. Please do not touch it.
Note that the data of already hired units in the army can only be changed by manually editing the save file.

Editing units_harakt.csv:
To edit the characteristics of units, you need to open the units_ harakt.csv file. We recommend that you open it in Google tables (or Excel) https://docs.google.com.

Do not change the structure of the file, do not add spaces, comments or line translations! The game is very sensitive to the file format.
The data of each unit is given in the corresponding column. Lines 2-17 contain data on its characteristics. Lines 18-35, spells. Lines 36-54, active skills. Lines 55-118, passive skills.
The values in lines 18-118 can be 0 or 1.
Lines 119-121 contain improvements to units that they can get at levels 5 and 10. The enhancement type is encrypted with a numeric code:
- For a unit to learn any passive skill, the number in the cell must be equal to 100 + the number of the passive skill. Example: to study the "Sniper" code should be 100 + 15 = 115.
- For a unit to learn any spell, the number in the cell must equal 200 + the number of the spell. Example: to study the "Fireball" code should be 200 + 8 = 208.
- For a unit to learn any active skill, the number in the cell must equal 300 + the number of the active skill. Example: to study "First Aid" the code should be 300 + 10 = 310.
Note that the unit under no circumstances should learn more than 3 spells, 3 active skills, or have more than 3 slots for potions! Otherwise, the game will not work correctly.

Editing save files:
The save files are stored here:
C: \ Users \ name_your_pc \ AppData \ Local \ Warbanners_1 \ save
Open the desired save in any text editor (make sure you backup!), and do not change the file name!
The first 42 lines - data about the completed quests (0 - not performed).
The next 10 lines are data on the number of potions of each species that are in the repository.
The next 10 lines are data about artifacts in the repository.
Starting with the 97th line (it looks something like this: "s_unit13"), the characteristics of your units are recorded.

Other changes:
- Correction of mouse hovering on buttons in briefings for some monitors.
- Fixed an issue where the briefings after the fight were closed with a second click of the mouse.

Warbanners Version 1.0.8 -- Ultra-Wide Monitors

We're happy to announce that our work on solving compatibility issues with ultra-wide monitors is complete! You can now safely play Warbanners on any monitor! Thank you for your patience.

Changes:
- Fixed problems with ultra-wide monitors.
- Increased the comfort of the game on 4K monitors.
- Improved Portuguese localization.
- The mission "The Search for Eternity" has become a bit easier. A little bit.
- Fixed bugs when buying horses in the mission "Pursuit".

The work on localization continues in French, Chinese, Polish, Spanish. If someone is willing to help with the translation into Spanish (most of the work is already done) – please write to me.

Next up, we will add the ability to edit the characteristics of units in a convenient table form. We're also working on detailed instructions on how to edit save files.

A Few Minor Changes and Now Available in Portuguese!

Version 1.0.7 is released. Changes include:

- Added Portuguese (European) language. Many thanks Tiago!!!

- If Accuracy of an attacker equals Evasion of a defender, To-hit chance is 55%. Each 1 point in difference between Accuracy and Evasion changes the To-hit chance by 5%. To-hit chance can not be less than 10%.

- The share of experience gained by magicians has been slightly reduced.

- Fixed a bug related to not receiving karma in the "Scapegoat" mission.

- Slight adjustments to AI.

- Music no longer plays when the game window is minimized or another application/program is selected.

- Problems with ultra-wide monitors (2560 x 1080, 3440 x 1440) and 4K monitors. Unfortunately, we don't have such monitors, and are therefore working blindly. This build, of course, does not solve all the problems, but we hope that we are moving in the right direction. Build 1.0.6. Small changes

Changes:
- Fixed a rare error when disband units.
- The spell "Mass Heal" has become 1 Mana more.

Warbanners Now Available in German! More Localizatons Coming Soon

I'm happy to share the German localization of Warbanners has arrived! A great thanks to Henrik von Platen and Dirk Wienkotte. You are the best!

Work is well underway for French, Spanish, and Portuguese languages, we've begun working on a Polish translation, and we're discussing a potential Chinese localization as well.

In addition, there are a couple of changes:
- Mission: "Trouble is brewing" is now a little easier.
- The first 10 missions on "easy" difficulty are now easier to get through.

Warbanners v1.0.4 and Future Plans

Warbanners version 1.0.4 is out now on Steam!

Changes:
- Achievements have been corrected, and thus should fix almost all instances where players have met the criteria, but not received the corresponding achievement.
- Balance adjustments have been made to a few missions. For instance, in the first mission with the siege, the orcs will no longer have a catapult! Hooray!
- Screenshots are now able to be deleted and download as intended.
- Another couple of minor edits.

Plans for the near future:
- Fixing problems with monitors 2560 x 1080 and 3440 x 1440.
- Improving the comfort when playing on 4K monitors -- increasing the font and we'll see what else.
- Make the "easy" level of difficulty... well, easier.
- Adding cheat codes.
- Add an "undo" button for movement and rotation only.

Tactical advice from the developer

Warbanners game is very hardcore! Careful planning of actions is a necessary condition for the survival of your army. Without studying game mechanics, without using potions and artifacts, without thinking about each move, enemies will quickly destroy your army! Warbanners - this is a real challenge to your tactical thinking!

I want to share with you those tips:

- if you are not a hardcore fan, put the difficulty level "easy" at once! Warbanners - a game with a high level of complexity - even with a "light" level of complexity, enemies are very dangerous.

- your alter-ego in the game is Roderick. This is a good warrior who wields the " Heroic Cry" skill. Try to apply the " Heroic Cry" on the first turn, cover as many of your units as possible. Also, Roderick has a passive "Commander" feature - it gives a bonus to Accuracy and Evasion to all allies within a 2-cell radius. This is a very good bonus, keep Roderick in the center of your army!

- Roderick and all swordsmen have a passive feature " Formation". Keep your melee fighters in pairs and each of them will receive a bonus to Evasion.

- in any case, do not let enemies to the magicians and archers! Artificial intelligence likes to make flanking detours ...

- As soon as possible, hire a priestess!

- Do not skimp on potions! It is desirable that each melee fighter (they are beaten most often) had a healing potion. It is very good to have at least one "Liquid Fire" potion in the army.

- carefully read the tutorial! Spend at least a couple of minutes and flip through the in-game manual. This will save you a lot of nerve cells!

- Do not shoot archers in the crowd of fighters! Red icons above the units are shown by allies, which prevent accurate shooting.

- never fight against the creatures of the night in the dark! Use "Liquid Fire", units with the "Shining" feature (for example, the priestess), fire, arson...

- When you hire a priestess, try to apply the "Blessing" spell to the maximum number of your units in the first turn! And remember her skill "Meditation". The combat qualities of the priestesses are minimal, but they are great support units.

- do not necessarily spend all the action points. Sometimes it is more useful to save them to restore Stamina. Tired units are fighting worse ...

- In missions where you have to defend fortresses, do not allow enemies to climb onto the walls. Come to the edge of the wall and hit the enemy while he stands on the stairs!

- do not worry about karma, it's not the main thing in the game. Karma affects some opportunities in dialogues, hiring elves, achievments and for something else ...

- it is unlikely that you will be able to pass Warbanners without casualty. Small casualty are acceptable. In my senses, it is permissible to lose 1 unit for 2-3 battles. If you have more losses, you should think about reducing the level of difficulty. If you already have an "easy" - write to the forum. There you will either get useful advice, or I will immediately tackle the simplification of the "easy" level. I am ready to play the game operatively so that you will enjoy it!

- Quick buttons will make controlling the game much more convenient. I especially recommend using a space to end the turn, and the "B" button to select the next unit that has enough Action Points and Stamina to attack.
