When Ski Lifts Go Wrong is an evolution of the title previously known as Carried Away. We have changed the name in preparation for the full launch early next year, which will see more stages and new vehicles. There’ve also been a number of improvements since the successful Early Access began, such as a complete UI overhaul, players having more control over the riders and extra buckets of polygonal blood (look, it’s a square bucket, okay?).
So it's time to get carried away with When Ski Lifts Go Wrong.
Be sure to share your most enjoyable failures and greatest accomplishments.
Happy landings,
Team Curve Digital
Thank you for your support... It's our Birthday!
Wow! We can’t believe it’s been one year since Carried Away joined Steam in Early Access.
We have been delighted and humbled with the response from our community. With your help, we have added snowmobiles, cannons, new themes, extra gore, speed boosters, mountains of levels as well as fixed many, many bugs!
But it doesn’t end there, we have been very busy building up to something huge, so keep your construction skills honed and stay tuned for our upcoming announcement!
Thanks to everyone who has been a part of our journey so far.
Jonny, Will & Andy

Speed Booster Jumps, floating islands, super snow cannons and lots of blood
Greetings! Patch 0b.02 has arrived, so here is a list of all the improvements and additions that we have made it into Carried Away over the last month. Happy Holidays! We’re open to community feedback, so come and talk to us on the forums, or on our Discord channel!
Gameplay
Speed Booster building piece - a Jump piece that will alter the speed of the skier or snowmobile based on the speed that you set it to be.
Floating Islands - This is something we have wanted to implement for a while. This allows for more variety of challenges. Choose your path, over or under the mountains!
Improved snow cannons - set the speed and the angle of the snow cannons and use them to your advantage.
8 new levels in Mountain 6, ‘The Highlands’!
Skiers will now voluntarily jump (or fall) out of chairlifts on your command. Because there wasn’t enough carnage already. The default hotkey is ‘H’
Added a jump button to the UI. This means you no longer have to use WASD if you would rather play the game entirely using your mouse.
Aesthetics
Gore slider. You can turn the blood off, or increase the levels to extra gorey. Default remains as normal.
Night theme added
Added lamposts for the night theme
Christmas assets - can opt in ot out of seasonal aesthetics in the other menu
Added objectives icons to the builder mode to better represent the objectives on each level.
Improvements
Added more steam achievements
Improved the Gallery
Improved snowmobile and skier behaviour so that they are more predictable and less jumpy
Can now play without internet connection
Colour blind mode - accessed in the other options menu
Bug fixes
Fixed a bug that was causing an error when adjusting the terrain lines in the sandbox
Fixed a bug where objects were getting moved from scenery to in front of the ski lift line in the sandbox
Snowmobiles, extra levels and a whole new mountain
Patch v0b.01.00
Wow! It’s been 7 weeks since the launch of Carried Away into Early Access and it has absolutely flown by! It may have been radio silence from us for the past few weeks, but by-golly we’ve been busy.
We have been hard at work engineering a fleet of snowmobiles just for you and our explorers have carved out 16 new levels in a new region known as The Jimmylayas.
Keep reading to get a detailed update of all the changes we have made to Carried Away, or dive on into the game to see for yourself!
Feedback
We want to hear from you! Report ideas, bugs, or other suggestions to Reddit or the Steam Forums. Or you can come chat with us on Discord! We’d love to hear your thoughts.
Snowmobiles
We have added snowmobiles to the game based on popular demand from the community. Snowmobiles offer a new and exciting challenge! Find the right combination of driving style and construction to tackle the mountains. Blue, Green, Purple, Yellow, and Orange.
Improved Rope Material
You can now connect the rope to the environment and no longer need to connect it to a foundation point
Max rope length has been increased by 50%
In Game Gallery
You can now save and watch replays directly to the in-game gallery. Filter by level, budget, pass, or fail and learn from the rest of the community. Then vote on your favourite replays!
Balance changes to jumps and their supports
We have made changes so that jump materials are more suitable and playful for jumps, bridges, and snow mobiles collectively:
Jumps weigh less but aren’t as strong
Supports are weaker
Force is now averaged over a small period of time to make the jumps and supports more flexible and receptive to impact. This should make high speeds and jumping less likely to break the jumps whilst heavy objects will still have a significant effect on jump materials.
Campaign levels have been rearranged to smooth the difficulty curve, so make sure to check back to previous maps and complete all the levels!
Improved statistics
Analyse where the most tense moments were when testing your structures and compare it between runs. Use this information to improve your structures design.
Easily see how you fared against the rest of the community using the histograms and filter the scoreboards to show only those who succeeded at getting the trophy achievement.
Other noteworthy changes
Building near or behind an object such as a tree will now temporarily make the object transparent
Default camera settings have been improved to give a better view of what's happening
Changes to terrain generation - smoother and more predictable skiing down mountains and collision with rocks
Performance improvements when many things break at once
Improved the instant replay tool allowing you to capture the best moments with less editing
Jump supports now collide with trees for consistency
Thanks so much for your support! We will continue to add new features and fun to Carried Away. We welcome your feedback, so come and have a chat with us on Discord, Reddit, or on the Steam Forums.
