Melee weapons, guns, and spells can now be permanently upgraded using the new Weapon Upgrade Kit and Arcane Salts items. Each upgrade makes the item permanent and adds more base damage, up to +3. These upgrades are distributed throughout Chapter 3 & 4.
The Organ Chamber and Labyrinth Organ Chamber now only let you level up 5 times in Chapter 2. In Chapter 3 & 4, you can find schematics that let you level up additional times.
- Purchase the Organ Chamber schematic in Nowhere starting in Chapter 3 - Find the Labyrinth Organ Chamber schematic in the western Cave area starting in Chapter 3. - Find the Advanced Organ Chamber schematic in the church passage starting in Chapter 4.
This means the maximum level you can reach in non-NG+ Chapter 4 has increased from 40->45.
Added a new item, the Safe Room Twig, which can be found starting in Chapter 2. Snap it to turn any smaller room into a safe room for 30 seconds.
Polish
- Walls, doors and barricades now play FX/sounds when struck or shot. - Tall enemies, such as the Big Wretch, duck their heads when going through doors. - The appearance of doors in the Attic and Basement in all chapters have been improved.
Balance Changes
- Randomized Labyrinth rings now cannot generate with multiple similar improvements(i.e. +4 bleeding to melee and +4 poison to melee), and in some cases overly powerful positive and negative effects have been capped to a lower level. - Enemies proceed through doors much more quickly. - Doors are marked as "in use" when an enemy is walking through them and cannot be used by Nightingale. - Enemies are much more aggressive when coming out of doors, in some cases launching surprise attacks. - Enemies are much more aggressive when waking from paralysis. - Dafydd(the gun wielding zombie in Chapter 1) has had his behavior adjusted to fire his gun more often but give the player more time to stop him.
Bug Fixes
- Fix an issue where removing items that had negative effects could leave those negative effects in place. - Fix the "Knife" prize at the prize wheel not making the player bleed. - Fix an issue where enemy attack cooldowns were fully reset upon seeing the player in some cases.

Withering Rooms 1.03
Based on community feedback about the controls changes in v1.02, further changes have been made:
- The change to combine run/dodge/roll has been undone. Run and dodge/roll are separate buttons again. - Changes to the radial item shortcut menu: - For keyboard players, only bound to R now, not the middle mouse button - There is a Hold vs. Toggle option in the Input Options in case holding down the button while selecting items is uncomfortable - Keyboard hotkeys are back: you can now press the 1-8 keys to instantly save and recall shortcuts.
New Features
You can now display up to 5 of your favorite photos in Nowhere in the floating gallery.
A new area, Anne's Respite, has been added to the hedge maze in Chapter 1/2. Look for the entrance with stone surrounding it.
A new area, Bryn Bach Abbey Outskirts, has been added on the road to the arena in Chapter 3/4.

- The postprocess chain has been rewritten to be much faster - this will particularly help high resolutions such as native 4k where framerates may increase by as much as 40% depending on the graphics card - Volumetrics have been boosted in many areas, particularly in Chapter 1 - Merry Band flags have been added to areas the Merry Band controls

- Fix the options.json and saves_options.json saving to the wrong place in some circumstances after v1.00. You may need to reconfigure graphics/input/etc. options. Please reach out to support if you have any issues. - Fix clicking on an item at the edge of the Inventory menu making it scroll, making it difficult to double click to equip. - Fix machine gun bullets not drawing. - Fix the Options menu not being useable with a controller during Chapter 0 and the initial tutorial. - Fix using Pocket Nowhere or Starting a New Night from a boss fight being possible(which can lead to odd behavior). - Fix several areas where Pocket Nowhere could be used when it shouldn't. - Fix map letters being cut off or displaying strangely for particularly small rooms. - Fix some controls such as Use Left Hand Item mapped to the space bar activating upon dismissing a new item/lore. - Fix the piano in the Seance puzzle becoming unusable upon an incorrect guess. - Fix Goat's Fashion Record being re-awarded in NG+.

v1.02 - Shortcut & Controls Changes
The controls have changed - thanks to everyone who has given feedback on controls over the course of Early Access!
- Hotkeys have been eliminated in favor of an 8-way radial quick select menu that pauses the action. Hold Middle Click (Mouse), R (Keyboard) or R1/RB to bring it up. - Dodging and running have been combined into a single button, mapped to Left Shift (Keyboard) or Circle/B (Gamepad). Tap while still to dodge, tap while moving forward to roll, and hold to run. - Reloading is no longer a button. Guns must be aimed to fire, otherwise they will reload. - Minimap toggle on Gamepad is now L1/LB. - The D-Pad now always works the same for movement as the Left Analog Stick, so you can use either.
Please try the new scheme before modifying the keybindings, and definitely give feedback via bug reports(press / in-game), e-mail or Discord if there's something you don't like!

Cholera Clinic Update
A new area, the Cholera Clinic, has been added to game in v1.01. You can access it by defeating the optional boss on the Mostyn House roof starting in Chapter 3.
The Cholera Clinic contains: - A new boss with associated achievement - 3 new monsters - 2 new NPCs - Corpse Hand - left hand item that slows enemies - Cholera Patient Head - reusable projectile that deals poison damage - Necrotic Ring - 75% necrosis resistance - Unlucky Outfit - New puzzles
Other Changes in v1.01
A new item - the Coin Purse - has been distributed throughout each chapter and is infinitely purchasable in New Game+. These are permanent upgrades that allow you to keep an additional 10 coins upon dying each.

- Optimized volumetric fog in reported situations where it would previously be very slow at high resolutions or high MSAA - you can help identify areas that are still slow by pressing / to report a bug - Randomly generated rings now each have a custom appearance
